What you are experiencing is not normal. In order to ensure that the issue is caused by a defect in the SB400, please try using a different Bluetooth source and music. If the SB400 is connected via Bluetooth and the static sound can only be heard on certain audio that is played, it might be that the audio file itself has static embedded on the file or was not properly saved when the file was converted. Additionally, the SB400 has power saving features. It is auto sensing and will turn off if no audio signal is detected for approximately 10 minutes. So, if you have the volume on the SB400 cranked up, and the volume on your Bluetooth source really low, it is very possible that the SB400 is not seeing enough of an audio signal to know to stay on. Please try turning the volume on the SB400 down a bit, and then crank up the volume on your Bluetooth source to get to the level you desire. This will send a signal to the SB400 and it should stay on without any issue.
If none of these things work, please submit a case at www.jbl.com/contactus and the Customer Service team will be more than happy to further assist you. JBL

Sound bar was easy to install and set up. The sound quality is awsome and the sub woofer really puts out alot of rumble. The only issue I have is the remote is small and not very well designed or informative. The sound bar you cant tell what setting you have it on since there is no display.

    Best Sound Bar under $1000.00

I had originally bought a Samsung sound bar to go along with my Samsung TV once I hooked it up it was just not what I had thought it would be so I returned it. Once I returned to Best Buy I went ahead and listened to many sound bars and even bought one on sale for $1000. I got it home and hooked it up while it did sound great the wife thought that was to much money for a sound bar so back to Best Buy we went. I returned this one and an associate pointed out the JBL which was on sale so I went ahead and purchased it. We got home I hooked this up and WOW is all I can say the dialogue is great I can hear every detail in any movie show or sports we watch. Next I turned up the volume on the sub and the house started rumbling we were blown away. I have had this sound bar for 3 months now and still can't believe this sound bar is only 499. It sounds just as good as the one I returned that was $1000. Now we just sit back and it's like we are at the movie theaters. The sound on this thing is incredible. I have everything ran thru the TV via HDMI and the sound bar hooked up to the TV via the included Optical Cable and mounted to the wall below the TV with the included wall mount. The only con I see is the small remote that comes with it but don't worry this sound bar can learn your TV or cable remote for the volume up down and mute which is great now I still only have one remote to power on everything. The greatest thing about this sound bar is it turns on with the TV and turns itself off when you shut off the TV after about 10 minutes. Thanks again Best Buy for being such a great retailer and thanks to JBL for making such a great product. For the price of this bar it can't be beat by anyone.

    Love the bass!

I absolutely love this soundbar! Great quality for $500. The 8" sub is more than capable of replicating those loud booms we're used to hearing in actual movie theaters. If the volume is up loud enough, it shakes the windows in my living room. It's also aesthetically pleasing. Looks and feels like it was made with quality material. I only have two minor drawbacks to the unit after 8 months of use: 1) The remote it comes with has no button for bluetooth, so you have to push the bluetooth button on the soundbar itself. 2) It would be nice if the soundbar had some kind of LED numerical indicator to show how loud the volume is. If you're looking for a good soundbar and don't want to spend thousands on Sonos or Bose, the JBL SB400 is definitely worth looking into!

I've been keeping an eye on the SB400 for a few years, when it finally dropped to nearly $300 (price match) I had to have it. The sound is AMAZING! It fills a 15'x18' room with virtual surround sound, base (sub is in front corner of room) is very deep, Bluetooth pairing is very easy, works great with my Harmony remote. I run all HDMI & components to back of tv, and then just use the included optical-out from my TV to this soundbar.

    Great soundbar for the buck

I bought this soundbar one year ago on black friday for 350$ + tax. Before it I tried a Sony and a Samsung soundbar that were a bit cheaper but sounded no where near this one. To my taste I like JBL more than BOSE, JBL always has great base and this bar proved it one more time. The installation is easy if your hands grow out from the right place. One year later I can't be more than happy with this soundbar. Cons: The remote is very basic like a cheap car stereo remote, the flat one with few buttons. Not a problem for me but might be for others. This soundbar usually sells for 500$ which I would say that is not really worth 500$ but if you get it somewhere on sale for less, then grab it!

i purchased this from fry's not BB but ill write the review here. i replaced my $160 samsung 6 speaker with SUB and this is 20X better. the first time my dad heard it he couldnt believe all that surround sound was coming from just that sound bar. the ONLY drawback, which isnt one at all, is that i will only buy Harmon/JBL in the future. i sync my phone via bluetooth when i have guests over and we party all night. it might be a little money up front now but it is well worth it i promise

I had the Bose 1SR and sent the sub in for repair. While waiting I purchased the JBL and am happy I did! I have only read two negative reviews and I believe those two didn't realize that by adjusting the two controls on the sub, your sound can be adjusted to match with the TV, DVD's and iPods, etc. I have had this system for a month and I truly believe the sound quality is as great, if not better than the Bose. Especially with the bluetooth!!

After standing in front of the sound bar wall at BB for 30 minutes I finally pulled the trigger on this jbl. Wasn't cheap, but this bass was superior to all the others. Klipsch was good too but bass was lacking. There are so many choices but you want one with hdmi hook ups and Bluetooth to play audio from your phone or tablet. Nearly all the lower priced sound bars will fall short in this regard. Super satisfied and believe you will be too.

Sounds great loud and good on bass only problem is while I'm watching a movie or listening to music I hit the power button and unlock my iPhone 6 plus the subwoofer seems to lose its connection with the sound bar and the bass stops and the blue light in the back of the sub starts to blink happens every time I do this but after a while of me being on my iphone it won't lose connection till hit the power button again and turn it back on to unlock my iPhone again.

    Call me Impressed!

Ok so let me start off by saying that since I see more than a few reviews on here recommending the Sony - 2.1-Channel Soundbar with 100W Wireless Subwoofer, my review will contain opinions on both. I originally purchased the Sony unit back on 8/22. I must have gotten a faulty unit because this past Friday, 10/17, it stopped working. Which really chapped my a** since not only had it been less than 2 months, but I had not purchased protection thinking Sony was a quality brand & I wouldnt need it. Long story short Best Buy let me bring back the faulty soundbar (only after being polite yet pushy mind you) to exchange. I decided on getting this one, even though it was $200 more than what I paid for the Sony unit that I got on sale. Well d@mn is all I can say in comparison. I THOUGHT the sony unit was great, not anymore. This JB Cinema blows the sony completely out of the water. Not only the soundbar itself is a huge improvement but the sub, oh my lawd lol! I had the sony for almost 2 months & never had a complaint from neighbors (I live in a condo). I had the JB hooked up for 2 days & had my neighbor pounding on the wall! The power in this sub is unreal for the price. I highly recommend the JB Cinema if you not only want a superior soundbar that does in fact give a surround sound effect while sitting directly across from the tv, but also has a kick a** sub that will most definitely upset the neighbors if you're not careful! Wish I had gotten this one to begin with! I also got the 4 year protection plan this time around, just in case.

Don't need HDMI cable for this. Just hookup with supplied optical wire and it booms. Shakes the whole house and can hear the smallest slightest sounds clearly.

Bought this system after returning a higher priced system and so far have no complaints about the sound. I enjoy how they give you complete control over the sub rather than having to select from a few settings. If you want something extremely simple to setup and use this is the one for you. Great sound at a great price.

    The good and Bad

The truth is I was watching the Hunger Games Mocking Jay and thought this movie would be so much better with surround sound. So fifteen minutes into the movie I pressed pause and ran to Best Buy . It took a while to get someone help at the store but once I did the guy I spoke with was very knowledgeable and lead me to buying the SB400 over the Bose, mainly due to the sub. Other systems sounded very tinney in comparison. I bought it and took it home, Very easy install , well almost. The optical cable would not latch into the sound bar. Ok, plan 2 , Hdmi cables. Very easy . Finished watching my movie and it sounded absolutely great sound. Later I found that the HDMI 2 did not work when I switch to play cable . Absolutely great sound bar , but considering the price and 2 issues straight out of the box it gets 3 Stars.

I tested this sound bar in store before purchasing, and was blown away at the quality and depth of sound it produced. I purchased it for my dad's home theater set-up, and he is SO pleased with it and how it seems to fill his huge room much better than his previous surround sound system did. It sounds incredible! It was a breeze to set up. The quality is worth the extra money you pay for its cheaper competitors.
