    Room For Improvement . . .

First let me quickly mention the good. The light quality is improved. Other improvements include overall sound quality, bass, loudness, battery life, and splash proof (the latter mentioned are all things that can be found in the Charge 2+ for less money.) Now on to the bad which is enough justification for me to be returning said item. Most of the issues i'm thinking can be addressed by a major update of the app. First lets talk about the colors and shading the old functions on the physical speaker were much better at the touch of a button get the color and level of brightness you want. Now we have this color sensor which sounds cool but the moment you don't have access to your closet loses all its appeal. Its annoying to dig through my closet to get a shade of pink or blue, and I have yet to get purple. I'm thinking this October I will be at a bonfire i'm not going to have too many colors to choose from in the middle of the woods. The old app had an easy color adjuster and adjustment for brightness/dimness (bring this to the new app asap). The new app is interactive which is really cool but who really wants to sit there while their with a group hanging out to make firefly designs? Unless your consistently interacting with the app the light shows are boring and static. Most noticeably missing is the equalizer and club mode that interacted with this source of sound these functions need to be brought back. These are what made me love the old one I didn't keep the old one because it had the best sound I kept it because it was easy, and fun to use. I'm shocked with this entire color sensor who wants to use this thing to find colors taking pictures of your clothes is ridiculous it doesn't even save your preferences like the old one did. . no if want blue fireflies instead of green better go dig through your closet for it every time!! Lastly something missing from the old and new version is a timer function something that will shut it off after a certain amount of time or non use. At night I listen to audio books to drift off to sleep and while audible has a timer to stop the book this device has nothing so the lights continue to shine until the battery dies which it always happens by morning . . its dead. I would not recommend this item unless two of the three issues I listed are addressed it costs too much money to be this complicated, annoying and nonfunctional (the app crashes constantly!!!) I would keep with the old Pulse or just do without lights and use the charge 2+.

The JBL Pulse 2 is a compact splash proof wireless Bluetooth speaker that delivers strong sound for its size and distinguishes itself with an integrated light show that's far improved from the original model. The built-in rechargeable battery offers 10 hours of battery for sound only and 5 hours with the light show in effect.

went in stores to test out the best blutooth speaker for my budget. My laptop aux port is damage so I cant use headphones and I make music. I looked around for 30mins. tested out the pulse 2. The display music did not show off full capability of the speaker so I was not to confident in purchasing it I decided to go with it because of the LED lights. I didn't find out til I connect my laptop at home. that the pulse 2 is loud and has a good bass response. I so can say it probably out of the speakers I seen was the "best buy" lol...NOW! BACK TO THE MIXING THESE 808 ON THIS PULSE 2!

Great speaker for portability. I love the colors and sounds. The color change camera does not work as well as I would have expected though.

Great speakers. My wife has the same speaker and we sync them all the time; it's a great way to have music where you are and are going to be. They're cheaper than buying and installing an in home radio system.

After hearing the sound quality out of my sister's JBL Pulse, and hearing the qualities of all the other options at Best Buy, I still veered towards the JBL family. I've had my Pulse 2 for a little over a year now and with using it numerous times a week - the battery still lasts, the sound quality is still great -no damaged or blown quality sounds. The bass on the sides of the speaker makes it sound like you're listening to music out of an actual stereo system. Having the option to turn the color light show on and off, and the ability to change the type of light show through the Pulse app is convenient. I've had only 2 downfalls in my year of having it, one time I brought it outside and dirt got into the little squares. Used a needle to push the dirt out, but some still remains. Not noticeable when I have the light show off, but it is noticeable when the light show is on. Wish there was a way to take the frame off and clean it. My second downfall is the charging port. I used the designated micro USB charge cord for other micro USB compatible devices and couldn't charge my Pulse 2 after. I ended up having to buy a new micro USB JBL charge cord. If you use the JBL charger for the Pulse only, I believe you won't run into this problem. I still give it 5 stars - it's an amazing speaker - just be careful when in a wet mudded area and only use the designated charging cord and wall unit to charge it!!

I am very pleased with this speaker. It is loud, but crystal clear. The sound balance is good, but perhaps a bit heavy in bass. I have used this speaker with both Bluetooth and audio cable without any change or loss of sound quality. I play several musical instruments including French horn. I use this speaker to amplify the metronome from the app on my phone. It is loud enough that I can easily hear the metronome beat over my loud horn. I am extremely pleased with this. I do use the speaker for straight listening, too. It is small, but can easily fill any room with sound. The lights are cool, but I am indifferent to them. They are an interesting feature and I find them soothing when listening to music at night. The battery life is very long. I only charge the speaker about once a month right now. You can use the speaker when charging. The chord that comes with the speaker to charge it is very short. I use my long phone USB charging cable instead. Very satisfied with this product.

Bought this for the daughter's 15th birthday. Sound is great, good balance between high medium and low frequency. Use mostly in her bedroom but is plenty loud enough to put on the patio for a BBQ. The LED effects are pleasant and a favorite for the daughter. Item sync flawlessly with iPhone and computer. Being rechargeable is a bonus and had good life per charge.

I bought the jbl pulse 2 on my lunch break from work. I returned and charged it. Turn it on and I was surprised along with my employee's how loud this speaker is. I must off had 6-7 employee's circle around it and ask me where I bought it. I highly recommend this product. It's small, super loud, good bass and portable, Bluetooth and has a auxiliary plug in. If love good quality sound with ur music that u can take anywhere u need to buy this.

Every day that I have this speaker, I like it better. The sound is great. The sound and quality are very close to the charge 2+. The lights are an extra fun part of the equation, but not so much a selling point. The loudness is the best part to me. This speaker is LOUD. A user named clavinetjunkie, on YouTube, does a couple of great reviews and compares this speaker to other models in its class. JBL pushes firmware updates to the speaker, via the JBL Connect app (which can be used on iphone or android). I received an update just after purchase, which improved some of the sound quality, and added some light effects. The light effects have associated sounds, which can be used to provide some ambient atmosphere, without playing music. You must have the phone connected, and the app running. I'd like to see JBL fix that in the next iteration of this speaker. The JBL Connect feature also lets you combine multiple speakers in two ways: One is to simply compound the loudness, the other is to assign the left and right stereo channels to different speakers, to increase the sense of separation. I only have one speaker at this time, so I have not tested that feature. Overall, this is a great unit.

This is a good personal speaker with some good sound quality. I was surprised by the depth of sound on this device and the lights are nice feature that provide a talking point as I have this speaker in my office. The distance capability is great as well. I haven't utilized the speaker phone capability, just the music. I do like the speaker well enough that I am contemplating the second one for home.

I purchased this speaker for my daughter. It has excellent sound including plenty of bass especially for a speaker that is not too large. It is very portable and the charge lasts @ 10 hours (it can also charge your phone) The colors that display to the music are cool and it can work in conjunction with an app for adjustment. I would highly recommend this speaker to anyone that is in the market for a wireless speaker with great sound!!!

I had the original Pulse speaker, so I already knew the quality of his speaker was very good and it has a great battery life. The 2nd generation improved upon the sound quality and brightness of the lights. This speaker can get plenty loud when needed and the added bonus of the light shows is very entertaining. Only critique I have is in regards to the free supporting website. It seemed like after they updated the site there aren't as many options to choose in how the led lights function. However, really like the addition of the atmospheric/white noise options. Overall, a really quality speaker, great size/shape, easy to use.

Fantastic sound quality for a little wifi speaker... The light show is very cool, being able to change the colors to fit your mood.. or you can turn it off completely, which helps with the battery life. One issue I have encountered is the charging plug becoming loose, making it difficult to get a complete charge. I move my speaker around a lot, so this is probably why this happened.

Overall it's a great speaker although a bit expensive compared to other speakers of the same range. It has great sound quality and the battery life span is pretty decent too. The light show is great for parties or ambience at home while listening to your favorite music. Main downside is that the charge port can get damaged easily, even if handling with care, and after some time it becomes difficult or almost impossible to charge the speaker. I had to change mine because of that.
