I'd give it and Best Buy 0 stars if I could

I don't write reviews, in this case I felt compelled to do so. I needed a new dishwasher, I did my homework and settled on this unit because others or similar cost and quality such a Bosch wouldn't fit the space without significantly limiting the units capacity. First the good: The unit began working great for maybe 2 weeks to a month. Now for the bad: Installation through Best Buy. This was subbed out. The company had to come out twice to install it properly. The first guy didn't know what he was doing and when you'd close the door there was a distinct sound of metal on metal. Washer: Worked great for maybe 2 weeks in terms on cleanliness but the unit has something called prodry that you pay extra for which is supposed to make the dishes bone dry. This has never worked. Then the cleanliness of the dishes began to decline after a month. Initially it was a few items, then everything on the second rack. There is a 3rd rack but dont bother, nothing gets clean on this. Eventually even mildly soiled silverware would come out as though it hasn't been washed Finally, I rana cycle of dished and when I came home later that day there was a burning smell from the unit itself and the main floor of my house smelled awful. It was an electrical burn smell of either a motor burning out or a short. Best Buy: I called Best Buy to see what they'd do and their return policy on major appliances is 14 days. Completely useless. Referred to manufacturer KitchenAid/Whirlpool: First, if you have to call them then pack a lunch..I spean over 30 minute on hold and explained what had happened and got "disconnected." Called back, another 30 minute hold, retold me story and was transferred to their safety department who finally agreed this shouldn't have happened and scheduled a repair/replacement call but this was a 10 day wait before they could get anyone of because they work with 1 service company which is based out of Baltimore so they only have 1 repair guy in the area every week. My appointment was scheduled through Kitchen AId for 8-12. % days later the repair company called me and said it'd from 12-3. More rescheduling of my work. Finally, they called me 90 minutes before they were scheduled to show up to let me know that their repair guy had called out and they'd need to reschedule to another day. All around awful at every level. a 1200 dishwasher shouldn't break inside 3 months. Best Buy return policy is a joke,. Kitchen Aid customer service is the worst and the fact they use 1 repair company in a major metropolitan area is insane. Don't buy this unit and don't expect Best Buy to stand behind what they sell or do anything after 14 days from sale.

Our new home came with a builder grade dishwasher with a stainless steel front, but everything else about it was poorly made. It was loud and within months, things just started breaking off inside. When the hinges broke and the door just flopped down, it was time to dispose of it. We've owned Kitchen Aid dishwashers before and we were always happy with them. After reading how this is the 2nd quietest in the world (only Miehle for $2500 is quieter) and after seeing how well designed this was, it was a no-brainer to get this unit. We've now had it a couple weeks, and we couldn't be happier. It isn't just quiet. It's almost inaudible when running. The shelves are adjustable in height and they slide so smoothly on their tracks. The third level rack is perfect for flat items, like lids and spatulas leaving more space for other things. But really, it's all about cleaning your dishes and to that end, this dishwasher does a fantastic job. The led on the door, glows blue when the dishwasher is washing, red when it's drying and white when it's finished. The stainless finish on the front door seems completely impervious to finger prints! Nice. I'd also like to give a shout out to the delivery and setup person. I've never had anyone install an appliance with such great care and consideration. He even cleaned the space before he installed the new machine and he took the time to walk us through how to use the machine. This is simply a terrific appliance and I highly highly recommend it.

A fabulous machine with all the bells and whistles

This machine is everything that is promised! My old machine had a terribly clunky bottom rack, silverware holders that always fell off the holder, wheels that popped off easily and then the dry cycle stopped working! After lots of reviewing dishwashers, it seemed KitchenAid kept being at the top of the list along with Bosch. When comparing the mechanisms between the 2 side-by-side, I really thought there was no comparison! The KitchenAid racks were so much smoother and with 4 spray arms, they get everything clean. It also has all the options I need as a new mom: Bottle spraying jets on the top rack, adjustable top rack, 3rd rack for utensils so I don't have to take 1/2 my top rack for spatulas! It even has the sanitize option that I love. When the installer Miguel was at my home, he did a tutorial on the machine so I knew how to operate it easily and when he had started it and told me it was running, I literally could not hear anything! I thought he had goofed up, but alas, when he opened the door, water was pouring down! Every cycle since has been all but muted, with me only knowing it is running by the lights in the front. It is such a huge upgrade from my Samsung dishwasher that it seems like a completely different decade of invention. I highly recommend this machine. My first 3 loads I did a test and didn't even rinse the plates off, leaving all sauces, etc. It is myself, my husband and a 3 month old, so I only run the dishwasher once or twice a week. After the dishes sat in there and the sauces hardened, all my dishes still came out perfectly clean without any spots even. We were going to get one generation down on this machine and glad they didn't have it! There was free install anyways on KitchenAid machines, so I was able to get a $150 more expensive model for the same price I would've had something else installed for. I couldn't be more impressed with my new dishwasher. You have got to try this!!

We had a 3-year old Bosch that was recalled; we were told STOP using it until the part comes in. This was the week before Thanksgiving. Stop using a dishwasher, are you kidding? We went to Best Buy and they came through with some "help" to get us out of Bosch and into the BEST dishwasher we've ever had -- the KitchenAid 39db quiet model here. The Bosch was 44db and that was pretty quiet, but this thing is virtually SILENT. Now, that's the bonus or icing on the cake. The "cake" is the KitchenAid improves upon the cleaning of the Bosch -- which was also (we thought) very good. The KitchenAid takes dishwashing to the next level. Zero issues in about 3-weeks (including Thanksgiving) of use (insofar as the cleaning is concerned). If I am pressed to find ONE thing I'd improve, it would be to have a countdown (time remaining), instead of a blue, red & white light (blue for washing, red for drying, white for done). Frankly, this "issue" is a nit. The thing has the smoothest rack slides ever and in "pro mode" it figures out how long to run and the dishes are 99.9% totally dry -- much better than the Bosch's 90% dry mode. I don't know if there is any dishwasher that is quieter than 39db (other than one that isn't running) AND cleans better than every other dishwasher we've ever had, but if there is, I couldn't find one. Its also great that it is MADE IN THE USA, and proud of it. I can't speak to the durability of the thing, but Consumer Reports has, over the past few years, moved KitchenAid up and Bosch down. Our issue with how poorly Bosch handled the recall was what prompted us to buy now -- but the new KitchenAid is an eye-opener in every way. From the test reports, it is also more energy efficient, too. 5+ stars for KitchenAid and 5+ stars for Best Buy for helping us out in our "moment of need." Buy THIS one and you'll soon be saying "Is this thing on?"

I have now had my new KitchenAid dishwasher for approximately 1 month, and (so far) I couldn't be happier. This was not initially my first choice as it is at a fairly high price point, but got a great deal on sale combined with a free install promo running at the time. I have not regretted the choice one bit! Dishes come out clean, and much drier than my previous unit due to the combination of heated dry as well as a fan that helps boost the drying power. (I admit that I do pre-rinse, so my assessment is based off of plates/glasses that are not crusted over with food/drink) Now, only bowls or glasses with concave bottoms are wet. I generally just flip them and let them fully air dry once done. A few other high points: Silence....so quiet. It really is quite amazing as you can barely tell it is running at all! Top rack has a simple push button height adjustment. Got tall pots in the bottom and you can raise the top rack higher. Tall glasses up top and you can drop it down lower to give yourself more upper room for tall items such as wine glasses. 3rd rack up top. Honestly, haven't used this feature much, but would be good for after large gatherings and you have lots of silverware to wash. There really isn't much height, so you're not going to be able to get much in the rack effectively. Interior space is laid out well, so you can fit lots inside. Lots of washing options from the heavy duty pro settings, to the quick wash features. Wash time varies greatly depending on the settings you choose. Definitely lots to love on this unit, and I really hope that this stands the tests of time and gives me many years of dependable usage. Fit and finish is beautiful, and also had a fantastic experience using the Best Buy installers, so no complaints there either. Highly recommend this unit.

We had another Kitchenaid dishwasher that died (pump assembly) after about ten years so we decided to purchase another Kitchenaid instead of going the repair route. My wife is super happy about this new dishwasher! It is amazingly quiet - literally cannot hear it running and if it did not have the blue light (washing/running), red light (drying), and white light (done) you cannot tell it is working! Best part is, it gets the job done. So, here are the pros/cons as she sees it (that's the only thing that's important, haha). Pros: super quiet, cleans efficiently and completely (no stuck on particles, etc.), dries fully when using the extra fan option, adjustable shelves are easy to manipulate, lots of room for a day full of dishes, ProWash cleans well, ProDry ensures all dishes come out dry and do not need additional time to wipe them. Cons: top shelf is pretty shallow and can only hold flat or nearly flat items and limits the size of glasses that can be placed on the top shelf (not sure it is worth giving up the extra rack space for this third rack), only one stemware holder (our old dishwasher had one on each side), no ProScrub cycle for super hard cleaning tasks, ProWash works great but seems to take a very long time to complete the cycle (3-4 hours is typical based on our experience), the latch that closes the unit seems to not be closed (it is almost too easy to close and my wife at times does not think it is closed and keeps pushing to hear a "click" or something to signal a secure closure). Aside from the minor issues, the unit works great and we are pleased with the purchase and would highly recommend it.

First of all, I actually returned this product. I purchased it for my parents while staying with them temporarily and they preferred a Bosch. But I have used both a Bosch 800 and this dishwasher. I would say they both have their pros and cons. Pros of Kitchenaod: it’s beautiful, extraordinarily quiet, and cleans amazingly. I have never before left my dishes dirty before putting them in the dishwasher but I left my Thanksgiving dishes totally full of potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and other scraps. They came out sparkling. Even the silverware was perfectly clean. Amazing, really. Cons: the third rack is really tiny and flimsy. I like to put silverware up there, but you can’t fit more than a few spatulas up there. Maybe there is a way to adjust it so it would hold taller items. Not sure. But it wasn’t nearly as nice as the Bosch third rack. Also the prongs on the first and second racks are spaced pretty far apart. The Bosch racks are set up better. Overall, this cleans better than the Bosch 800 and has nice features like letting you know which stage your cycle is on and the bottle washers are an added plus. But the Bosch has a better interior layout. , however, would choose this dishwasher for my home.

We replaced our Samsung after years of dissatisfaction and upgraded to this model. Wow, what an upgrade. Our Samsung was not cheap by any means. I paid the same $$$ for it as this unit, but the quality is night and day different. I respect those who have said the racks are subpar or complicated, but I haven't seen better racks in any dishwasher. No sloppiness to what's loaded, you can load dishes backwards or forwards, so not limited to one direction only like mist. Cups stand securely and stuff doesn't get knocked around! There have been complaints of the distance between bottom and middle rack being inefficient! Ummm...the middle rack moves up and down, so not sure what the issue may be. At it's lowest position, the middle rack barely clears a standard sized dinner plate. Seems pretty efficient to me! My wife loves the racks, so that's a home run as far as I'm concerned. We did remove the utensil organizers. Those are a bit much. The unit has been quiet and super efficient to use, so no complaints whatsoever. Dishes come out far cleaner than our previous Samsung, so loving that part too. If it stands the test of time, then it'll be the best dishwasher I've ever owned in 35 years. Check back with in 35 years! LOL!!

We had a nice GE Profile (circa 2004) at our previous house that was also excellent. We like this one even more because it runs incredibly quiet, has a 3rd rack, adjustable height 2nd rack, and extra spouts for wine glasses/baby bottles (funny dual purpose). Cleaning and drying performance is great, as good or better than our previous excellent unit. Key feature is that it has an electrical heating element (old school but effective) that is a must for drying plastic containers. Nice big utensil tray also good and pretty sturdy racks with sensible spacing and shape. Minor gripe is that the controls could be a tiny bit easier to use. For example, when opening the door after a delay program has been set, it requires re-pushing start but seems like an unneeded extra step. Also cleaning performance on 3rd rack is only good for skinny utensils but big flat things like a spatula is not quite as good. Overall an excellent machine and highly recommended. Note: We had purchased a Bosch Ascentia originally but hated it (deal breakers were no heating element and poorly designed racks) and actually went to the trouble of uninstalling, loading it In our SUV and returning it. I may post a separate review for that unit later.

When my 2-drawer Kitchenaid dishwasher gave up, I shopped for a standard size tub with two main requirements: I wanted American made, and sound reduction packaging. After reading many reviews and looking at models I narrowed my choices to Bosch and Kitchenaid. My final choice was made for me when I found an open-box new KA in a nearby Best Buy, at a savings of over $500 off usual price. The racks have some good adjustment features, including bottle wash spigots. The very slim top rack works for flat lids, silicone bowl covers, some flat utensils, although anything with a curve like a pancake turner doesn’t fit. Racks slide smoothly. The silverware basket is extra large and holds everything. I removed the slots racks attached to the overhead of the silverware basket because I find it easer to drop in a handful rather than one piece at a time. For just two of us, I run a load every other day or so, and I choose the Express Wash which is significantly shorter than the Normal Wash/Dry cycle. Everything comes out clean, including the large mixing bowls and saucepans. I open the door for air dry at the end of the cycle, and I’m okay with towel drying when needed. We barely hear the dishwasher running, and the white light signaling completion is helpful. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Pro - Appearance, Quiet and cleans dishes. Cons - Useless 3rd (top) rack , no adjustable tines, drawer pulls are already sticking with less than 6 months of use (hard to pull), and have to touch multiple buttons to start a wash. We are a family of four and try to leverage the top rack for utensils and bottle parts; however, the top rack height is not tall enough to fit a bottle nipple plus the tines are not tall enough to hold the silverware/flatware upright - thus they fall over and dirty water collects on the flat side, not sure what you would clean up there. With no adjustable tines on the bottom rack or middle drawer makes it nearly impossible to fit a full days worth of dishes within. We previously bought same price point LG appliances at our last home. Thought we were upgrading with the Kitchenaid name in our move, but the lack of quality interior and features (not customizable within, no quick start (single button push), etc) has left us feeling disappointed.

So my old KitchenAid broke and I replaced it with the new KitchenAid. It is prettier and it cleans better, but it is just a tad longer. This makes it stick out from my cabinets by about a quarter of an inch. It doesn’t bother me, but you might want to check your measurements just in case. This dishwasher is very easy to keep clean with just a sponge or towel and water. There is a vent on the side of the unit, but it does not put out the steam that my old unit used to, so it will not damage your cabinets. I love the new top rack and the slotted utensil holder. I use a lot of knives and extra utensils and this gives you the places to get them all cleaned properly. They offered free installation and delivery at the time of my purchase. Three men came to deliver and install, they were professional and did an excellent job. I am very happy with my purchase.

Purchased from Best Buy in September 2016, worked great while it worked. Two days ago, the wife notices a hot plastic burning smell. I took a look and ran a cycle. Circulation pump with part number: W10902589 has failed. The pump gets very hot and does not work. Symptoms of the failed pump were no water coming out of the jets and the hot smell. Reading reviews from a variety of online vendors shows this failed circulation pump to be a fairly common issue with the KitchenAid kdtm354dss model. The OEM circulation pump for replacement costs $242 without installation. I generally do not purchase extended warranties from Best Buy but I would if I had to do it all over again. Nice machine but two years before a costly repair is not good.

My first Kitchen Aide Dishwasher. I'm stunned at how well this dishwasher cleans, and agree with other reviewers regarding how quiet this machine operates. We had family over for Thanksgiving and everyone commented on the machines "silence" during operation. It exceeds all my expectations. In regards to cleaning, I've always rinsed dishes thoroughly before placing in my past dishwashers. As a test, I intentionally let breakfast dishes with substantial dried egg yolk dry and harden before washing with no pre-rinsing. They came out spotless! Glasses and crystal look brilliant. Same results on all other dishes washed so far during my first two weeks of use. The stylish design, spacious stainless steel interior and flexible wash racks and hidden controls are all great features. Best Buy installation went smoothly. "No complaints" -- This one's a keeper for me.

I have had the dishwasher for about 1 month now and I love it. It is super quiet, you can't even tell when it is running unless you look at the lights. This is the first one I have had with the controls on the top of the door and I like the look. This one has the outside handle, not the recessed handle, but that is no problem for me. It has plenty of room for loading all sizes of dishes. As usual, it takes a few times with the placement to determine the best way to load for your particular needs. I haven't used the bottle wash yet, but I like that it is optional and when not needed the holders fold down so they aren't in the way. I replaced a Bosch dishwasher with this one. People rave about Bosch, but I did not have a good experience with one.

I’m so glad we bought this dishwasher! We were considering another Bosch or doing all Samsung products when we fell in love with the KitchenAid refrigerator. After speaking with salesmen in multiple stores we decided Kitchenaid was the way to go for our new appliances and we don’t regret our decision one bit. This dishwasher is extremely quiet (thank goodness for the indicator light, which is blue when washing, red when drying and white when finished) and though we haven’t used the other cycles yet, the pro sense wash cycle gets the dishes spotless. Note, you don’t have to use the pro dry cycle to get spotless dishes. We hope to get many years out of this baby and the installer said unlike LGs and Samsungs, they rarely ever get repair requests on these.

We replaced a GE dishwasher with the KitchenAid and I am VERY pleased with the Kitchen Aid. When we were looking at dishwashers many of them didn't have heated drying and with many not having hard food disposers we were leery of buying a new dishwasher - questioning whether a new one would clean as well as the old one. This dishwasher is great! It has a several cycle options and has heated option and one that uses a fan to expedite the drying. The dishes come out clean, dry and the inside of the dishwasher smells fresh and clean and doesn't develop any type of odor (that some other dishwashers without heated drying have reported). It does take MUCH longer to wash than our previous GE dishwasher but it is a lot quieter than the GE and really does a great job. We are very happy with the purchase and think it has been a great replacement. Would highly recommend.

We bought this dishwasher as a replacement for a 10-year old LG also purchased from and installed by Best Buy. The LG was great but when the door springs both failed it wasn’t worth fixing it. If we thought the LG was quiet the new KitchenAid is almost silent. We’re only three loads in to using it but it cleans well and dries much better than the LG. The sales price, free installation, free delivery, and small charge for the haul away of the old LG made it a no-brainer. Should add that the installation process was done by the Best Buy Geek Squad rather than a third party installer like the LG 10 years earlier. The Geek Squad installer pointed out a number of mistakes or at least somewhat sloppy work of the previous installer. He completely removed all the drain and feed lines and replaced them with the KitchenAid provided parts whereas the previous installer had used and basically jury-rigged the existing lines from the original Kenmore when installing the LG.

Our Jenn-Air dishwasher had gone south slowly, so we took our time and researched options carefully. This DW was highly rated for noise level, effectiveness of cleaning/drying, ease of use, and had an awesome bottle wash feature. After having it for a month, I would say it cleans pretty well, but misses dirt unless you use the “pro wash” setting, which tends to take a long time (this is my reason for 4 stars). The bottle clean spouts clean 3 bottles quite effectively; very happy with this, as a road cyclist. Drying is great, and noise level is as good as a prior Bosch we owned in another house. All in all, I would say it doesn’t clean as well as the Bosch we previously owned, but has other features that make it a comparable option. We are happy with our purchase overall. Oh, & the exterior does NOT show fingerprints! Like, at all. Love the surface!

This dishwasher costs slightly more then similar models but the dB rating and extra features are more then worth the price. We remodeled and turned our living room/kitchen into one space. Our dishwasher is at the end of an island, 7 feet from our living room couch so the 39dB was a huge factor. It is nearly silent, the LED indicator light is probably more noticeable then the noise. The normal wash cycles clean okay and are probably on par for other dishwashers but the pro wash and pro dry features set this unit apart. When using this feature, dishes come out spotless (with out pre-washing) and completely dry. The trade off is the duration of the cycle but it's a non factor if you let it run over night. The third rack is excellent bonus space but the bottle washers don't allow enough room for our water bottles to fit onto and should have been designed on the bottom rack.
