Bought to replace an 18-year-old Kenmore that suddenly died. I was looking for an Energy Star dishwasher with a stainless steel drum and no PVC in the racks, and was going to buy the cheapest model that came with both (a Maytag), but in comparing this Kitchen Aid with the Maytag, I liked the sturdy racks and lower decibels of the KitchenAid and felt the extra $100 would be worth it over time. I've been extremely pleased with the choice! The Kitchen Aid racks roll smoothly, and the top rack has a handle with the Kitchen Aid insignia that gives you something substantial to hold on to when moving the rack in and out. (The top rack can also be moved up or down to fit items of different sizes, and has a small section for wine glasses.) I'm not crazy about the configuration of the spikes on the top rack, but all dishwashers now have similar setups; it seems you're supposed to put mugs and glasses along the sides and bowls in the middle, but my family uses more cups than bowls, and I can fit bowls on the bottom rack... Still, compared to the Bosch models, the Kitchen Aid has a traditional arrangement on the bottom rack for plates, and our somewhat thick dinner and salad plates fit well, with bowls along the sides. We can usually run the dishwasher every other day (family of 3). We always rinse and scrape off food particles before putting dishes in the dishwasher, so after more than a month of use, we've had nothing on the filter to clean. I've been using only a few drops of Rinse Aid, and there are no streaks. Everything is dry using the Heat Dry (NOT "Extended Heat Dry," which takes longer), though of course occasionally there are small pools of water on the upside-down mugs, but you can easily wipe those dry. Sometimes overnight I've used no drying function, and things have been mostly dry in the morning. (The dishes get extremely hot with Heat Dry, so it's actually easier to leave them a few hours before emptying the dishwasher.) The Kitchen Aid is so quiet that it's hard to tell whether it's running. If you add a dish after it starts running, you have to press Start/Resume to get it going again, and it will make a few false starts before getting back into its cycle again. There's a Clean light that lights up when the whole cycle is done (and Washing or Drying indicator lights as well). I don't like the silverware basket that came with this model, which has holes for the silverware. You can opt to keep the silverware basket top open, but I liked the one from my Kenmore better, because it has two small covered baskets at either end for smaller items that might fly around in the dishwasher. (I ended up putting the Kenmore silverware basket in place of the KitchenAid one.) Overall, I've been very impressed by how well and quietly it works, and happy with its quality.

This is the worst appliance purchase I have made in 20+ years. We bought this on June 20. We had it installed on June 25. Yesterday, the dishwasher stopped in mid-cycle. We had to turn it all off and reboot. Okay. We can live with that. Today, the dishwasher is leaking. It seems the door isn't sealing properly. We called the Geek Squad (since we paid for the extended warranty), but they won't help us because the machine is still under Kitchenaid warranty. We called Kitchenaid, and they referred us to some local repair person who warned us that they would charge us $100 for the call if it turned out that the problem was not covered by warranty. We don't want to be paranoid, but what if they decide that the problem was caused by a faulty installation (Best Buy's installation?) or some other excuse? Plus, we have to wait a week for the repair person to get here. (We bought a new dishwasher because the old one was going to be a week to get the part for repair and it was old. We thought a new machine would give us at least a year without problems. We feel kind of gypped.) So, we look into returning the machine. It was ordered online, so it should have a 30 day return policy, right? Nope. For Best Buy, the return window has passed. In short, we are unhappy with the dishwasher, we are unhappy with Kitchenaid, and any good feelings we had towards Best Buy and the Geek Squad are pretty much gone. Meanwhile, trying to get someone at Best Buy to listen to our complaint is nearly impossible. (One hour waiting period on the phone?) We were sold a lemon. Best buy is not standing behind it. And I wouldn't recommend this dishwasher to my worst enemy.

Chose this dishwasher because the controls are on the front (personal preference) and the brand is considered “good”. It was delivered and installed by husband 3 weeks ago. OMG! It’s amazing. The salesman said we did not have to rinse the dishes, right.... we have grown up washing the dishes before putting them in the Dishwasher. I told the husband “we’ll try this little trick one time and then go back to old habits”. WOW! Baked casserole dishes (enchiladas, lasagna), pot used to make Mac & cheese, plates with egg, serving spoons with lasagna (cheese!!!) come out perfectly clean. It’s amazing. I do more loads now since I’m not hand washing the pots, pans, skillets and casserole dishes but there is a dramatic drop in manual labor on my part. I use the Prowash setting and update the heat setting to just the regular, not extended. Yes the cycle time is ridiculous (3 hrs or so) but per the manual slower cycle equates to less water and energy. I don’t know how that works but am guessing it involves wetting and allowing the soap to sit on the dishes for periods of time. I don’t care how it works, IT’S MAGIC. I’m thrilled.

I've only had for about a month now, but so far it's a great improvement over my really old dishwasher. That said, it has quite a few features that I'm unfamiliar with, and the 7-step Operation Instructions are of little to no help in identifying how to use all the options. There are even some questionable facts given for one option called "Rinse Only": Wash Time is listed as 6 hrs. 45 mins., longer than all others, including "Express Wash", and uses more water than other options like Normal. There's some explanation for the water usage but it still defies sensibilty on all levels. And, BB's so-called "Certified" installer did NOTHING to facilitate use, in fact, I had to ask where the manual was. Turns out, he just pointed to where he left it...on top of my dryer. Regarding the actual dishwasher item, I'm confident it will be a great asset once I figure it all out, no thanks to Kitchenaid nor the installation service.

This unit replaced my prior 16-year-old Kitchen Aid dishwasher. I was concerned that only one model (this one) still had front controls, and now that it's installed, I think top controls would be fine, too, although I still prefer the front controls. I was very happy with my prior unit, which never needed any repairs, and I am even happier with his unit. Mindbogglingly quiet, washes better, seems to be better organized internally. The lower rack seems a bit lower than before, no doubt to allow for the taller bin and adjustable height so if you have back problems (I don't), be aware you will probably have to stoop a bit lower. Some reviewers worried about the side vent, but when installed I realized that was an unnecessary worry since the vent isn't blocked with normal installation.

We wanted a Bosch for the name and the reputation, but I’m glad we went with the Kitchen Aid. My parents have a Bosch and it’s so quiet that we wanted one too. After going to several stores looking at dishwashers and comparing features, we liked this one the best. Our price point was less than $1K. We’re so happy with how quiet it is, the layout of the racks, and how smooth the rack rollers are- they just glide right out. I’ll also verify the extra room under this model made installation very easy versus our old Whirlpool model. We ordered it online because we could get it faster, and two days later it was delivered to the house-super easy. Faster than the local appliance place could get a similar product to us and faster than the home improvement big box store could get me the exact same model. You’ll be happy with this model too!

Our old dishwasher was so noisy, we would have to blast our T.V. in order to hear it. Grant it, it came with our home, 23 years ago it was 6 years old. Still cleaned dishes great, just couldn't take the noise anymore on the old KitchenAid. Since KitchenAid is a brand I trust and dependable, that is what I was looking for in a new one. I love the features, stainless steel inside, the digital buttons, cleans great. Mostly we love that we hear....................nothing, well a little bit of the water as it drains. KitchenAid is finger print proof, LOVE, QUIET, SLEEK, CLEAN looking. I am so loving how KitchenAid 24" Front Tall Tub built-in dishwasher works, and is SO, OH SO QUIET!! Highly recommend this dishwasher, no complaints from me, have been using this for almost a year!

best dishwasher I've ever had !!! after my 2 year old samsung quit on me we landed on this one mainly because of the lousy service I was getting from samsung I wanted to by american and I am so pleased we did our old DW never really cleaned all that well always left water stains and cloudy residue on the dishes then broke after 2 yrs. although really quiet it never got the dishes clean from day one (WHAT A P.O.S) Now this KitchenAid although not as quiet as the samsung but still very very quiet it works great !! even removed the old water stains our dishes have never been so clean with so little effort made the coffee pot look brand new and our glasses are crystal clear All I can say is this thing just works and works great not just OK but GREAT!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

We don’t really use dishwashers to wash.... more as a drying rack after we hand wash, since we don’t cook huge meals and there are only 3 in our family. It’s faster to just do it by hand and we are used to it, lol. The only reason we bought one is because the plastic interior in our old one was getting funky and the door squeaked a lot on opening.....it was 24 yrs. old. This model carries the Kitchen Aid brand to match other appliances and the price was right for our limited usage. So, most of the time it just serves as a drying rack, but the layout is bigger and more efficient than our old one. We have run it only once, but we were amazed at the quietness of the machine....you can hardly tell it’s on. Everything got clean and pretty dry, a little bit of water got caught up in concavities of plates/bowls/glasses....but no big deal. The only downside is these machines take forever to cycle through....just seems like a waste of water and electricity.

Have the dishwasher for about 10 days. I washed EVERY dish, glass, pan, utensil in the entire house. We've been without a washer for awhile. I was amazed at the cleanliness of how everything came out..you'd think everything was new. Quiet, attractive ( black), easy to use, no water marks. If I'm around, I'll stop it somewhere through the drying cycle (cancel, so it will drain) and the dishes are always completely dry. Only negative is that there isn't a countdown timer so you don't know exactly where you are in the wash/dry cycle, although there are indicators letting you know what cycle it's in. Installer was great, (local pro was used) took about 45 minutes. Happy with my choice. Installed 6-11-19

I've had this for a short time, but I'm highly impressed. I was first surprised with how quiet it runs. I had to put my ear to the door to ensure it was pumping water. After it was done I pulled the dishes from it and inspected them for cleanliness. I was impressed with how bright everything was. I thought it dried dishes sufficiently. There were a couple of water drops here and there, but to me that is to be expected. I read some reviews where customers were not impressed with the drying capabilities. I have no complaints. I would like to see the racks redesigned. I find it a bit challenging to load it correctly. Pots and pans don't want to stand up properly and could block a washing arm. Good machine at a fair price. Overall, I'm very happy with it.

We bought this dishwasher to replace a Bosch that was recommended by a salesperson who said it would clean and dry dishes realty well. We'll it cleaned beautifully but the inside of the dishwasher never dried in the week we had it. This Kitchenaid does everything I expect a dishwasher to do: the dishes are sparking, everything is dry, and it's oh-so-quiet! In addition, the logo-free front matches all our other appliances and its' finger print free stainless front is a breeze to keep clean. The only negative is the plastic plate on the bottom which seems like a cheap choice on a beautiful appliance. Best Buy was wonderful in exchanging the appliances after my complaints were confirmed by their repairman; they're now our store to go to for all appliances.

After 8 years our the older version of this Kitchen Aid dishwasher died. Spoke to KA customer service and they agreed it should have lasted longer than 8 years but would not give us anything to entice us to buy another one. We only bought this one because it was the only thing available at the time that wasn't on back order, otherwise I would not have bought another KA product. Overall - the control panel design is hard to see especially for an older person - small labels on everything that you have to get close up to see. It does an ok job of washing other than the normal cycle takes 3 hours. It does have an express wash feature which we are using too. We'll take a wait and see on this one - hopefully it will outlast the one it replaced.

We previously had a Bosch and needed to replace since the motor went out after 6 years. The Kitchen Aid was on sale and had features we liked, so we ordered it and had installed. We could not be more pleased: the Kitchen Aid is very quite, quitter than the Bosch was and actually dies a much better job of Cleaning. We had installed in early May, so have been using over a month. Hoping it will last longer than the Bosch we had. It does a better job of cleaning than any dishwasher we have . had. Also the racks are fantastic, they roll out easily and have to be careful, so we do not jar, since they move easily and without any binding like our previous dishwasher. Extremely very made.

This dishwasher cleans all of my dishes extremely well. I’m shocked at just how bad the old one must have been since old items come out looking new and sparkling clean! It also dries very well. The only place I’ve noticed a little bit of water is on the top of Tupperware items (which are placed upside down) and even then it is minimal. I’m able to put the dishes right into their cabinets as soon as the cycle is over. Also, some people commented on how long the normal cycle takes but it took about an hour and a half on my unit which I don’t consider bad at all. The machine is also very quiet which doesn’t matter to me anyway. I’m very pleased with this unit!

KitchenAid is one of the best names in appliances, and this dishwasher doesn't disappoint. The dishes come out clean, sanitized and dried completely, ready to put away without having to use a dish towel to remove excess water. I even put a broiler that I had handwashed so many times with steel wool, even though it had a non-stick finish and I had sprayed it with non-stick spray. It actually came out with less places that needed recleaning than if I had done it by hand. Looks beautiful with other appliances. Only issue is that the inside of the dishwasher stays wet after the cycle is complete. Not sure if this is normal.

I purchased this dishwasher 3/27/19 and had it installed 4/2/19. Install was on time and done professionally. This is a great dishwasher. I use dishwasher pacs and drying agent. After the wash is complete the dishes, glasses and utensils are completely clean, spot free and dry. The interior of the dishwasher is also dry and spot free. When the cycle is complete, the dishes are very hot, so I've learned to wait a bit before emptying. It is extremely quiet when running. I've had it for 3 weeks and so far I think its the best dishwasher I've owned.

This is a review complimenting Kitchenaide as much as complaining about Samsung. We replaced all our Kitchen appliances almost 5 years ago with Samsung. Sales folks at Best Buy back then recommended Samsung. PLEASE - do yourself a favor and do not buy Samsung kitchen appliances. They’re garbage. Now, this Kitchenaide dishwasher walks all over the prior Samsung. It’s very quiet, gets dishes clean and also dry! What a novel idea. I would recommend this Kitchenaide!

Replaced a very reliable 20+ year old Maytag dishwasher (one of the best according to the guy who installed our new one)....time to upgrade the look w/ a kitchen remodel. This one is pretty good - doesn't hold as many dishes as our old one (smaller interior, but didn't look that small in the store?)...having to use a rinse aid is kind of a pain, but we'll get used to it. It cleans well, and is super quiet which is really nice. We haven't experimented w/ the quick wash setting or extra heat etc, but so far the normal wash setting is doing the trick. Seems like a decent machine, maybe worth 4.5 stars!

If you're looking for a mid-tier dishwasher that gets the job done and doesn't break the bank, this fits the bill. It's incredibly quiet and has plenty of room for all your dishes. I can't comment on the fancy options/features it has since I don't use them, but know that at the end of the day, it washes my dishes quietly and to my satisfaction. As a disclaimer to my review, practically anything was an upgrade over my old GE unit. It was so dang loud, you couldn't hear yourself think if you were within 50 yards of it.
