Not ready for release

I have to agree other reviewers that this is not worth buying and is not as accurate at tracking as it appeared. I had pre-ordered two of these Leap Motion devices and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of them. So far I would basically call these toys with no real world advantage over existing input devices. I will be returning mine. Not exactly junk, but definitely not ready for release. They probably should have delayed them further. The apps that are available free and to purchase are all very basic apps with limited usage. Buy it if you want to experiment with it. Not what I was expecting and really not as good as advertised. Kinda like those infomercials.

I got my Leap on Friday and have been really quite pleased. It is really amazing to get to hold a piece of history. It isn't a mouse replacement but a way to do things like fly through Google Earth, fingerprint, play musical instruments, mold a virtual piece of clay, etc. If that is worth $79.99 to you I encourage you to buy a Leap.

it is about useless

I bought this right from the dealer when it first came out on kickstarter. After waiting forever for it to arrive and unpacking it. I am rather disappointed. The device should come with at least a couple of games or something to make it useful. The games and other apps that are available for it are over priced and most don't work. About the only thing I have found to do with this device is use it to unlock my computer with a scan of my palm and that only seems to work about 40% of the time.
The apps are slow to download, the device is inaccurate and at this point in time not much use.
If some more apps are put out for the device or if it actually works with windows OS it might be salvageable but as it stands i would rather just return the device and get my money back. Too bad I can't. Might look at a kinect, it seems better then this.

This is a great platform that already has lots of great apps and will only get stronger over time. Leap Motion lets you control your computer in 3D space. The device comes with Airspace - an App Store that features apps from hundreds of developers. Some of these are a little weak but most are mind blowing. There are games like Cut The Rope, a 3D Facebook browser, apps to control your OS like BetterTouchTool and even a free app called Unock that lets you unlock your computer by just waving your hand.

It's a nice built unit comes very close to doing what it advertised to do but having to purchase addtional software makes it a item that I returned to much addtional exspense.

Potential

At this time the Leap Motion is slightly limited, although as more and more people and developers realize how great and easy this product is, it will become almost limitless. The Leap Motion is currently a great product to have fun with, experiment with and show off to friends and family. I recommend this product to anyone with creativity who has the time to get used to the future of interacting with technology.

I heard about this about a year ago, and it is very cool that is already available. It will take awhile, but this is the way controllers will work in the future. The applications are just barely scratching the service. Great potential!

I bought the controller today. I browsed the Airspace app store before purchasing and thought that my kids would like the science apps, games, and unique way of interacting with the computer. It was fast and easy to set up and use. I want them to have fun with science, and it's an amazing experience to look the controller into a molecule like DNA. The kids thought the controller was cool to use and wanted to play more games. The range of available apps has incredible potential and seems to be increasing every day.

Got it on Friday. Took a little to set it up. But overall we love it. Needs more games, but what they have rocks. Love showing it off to family and friends!!!

The Leap Motion Controller is a piece of sci-fi futurism available today, and it's cheaper than you think. But while it's magic when it works right, it's almost upsetting when it doesn't. Overall I highly recommend this product. It is fun for the whole family. I use it, my wife uses it, and I am even getting the little ones to use it. In my opinion, it is an amazing product for tech lovers, and the not so techy ones too. If I were you, I would go and buy it immediately. Enjoy the product!

This thing is great. We have two small kids (almost 3 and almost 6), they are already good on the iPad/iphone so we love getting them going on this next generation of interactivity. It's so tactile. Already seeing the educational benefits which will grow by leaps (pun intended) and bounds the more apps/programs that come out. Would highly recommend this to anyone with kids to get them started on the future (and if you just like playing around like a kid, you will love it too)!

I bought my LEAP from an already open box so this might be a little harsh when I say don't waste your money wait. I'm taking it back to the store today because it wasn't able to show up when I plugged it in to a open USB port. When it did work it was a blast and way before it's time in technology.

Great Idea Poor Performance

Perhaps with more development this could be a good idea. Does not work well for computer control. Accuracy and speed for gaming is slow.

After setting up the controller and downloading the software, I was intrigued with the fact that I could operate on a non-touch screen computed with virtual touch screen capability. Then I started experiencing severe computer problems, and my Norton virus program identified a Trojan Virus associated with the Leap Motion software download. I contacted Leap Motion and they said I needed to return the controller to Best Buy. Unfortunately, I am beyond the 15 days specified in Best Buy's return policy. I guess I'm stuck with a new paperweight.

Been using the Leap for a couple weeks and am very impressed. We are playing a lot of games, making art and music and downloading the educational apps (which hold my kids attention). The Leap has been the go-to gift for my 12 year old's friends parties and our nephews. Looking forward to more apps!

Works with orientation and that's about it. Needs lots of refining as the product is not ready to be sold.
