After having the computer for 3 weeks the camera is malfunctioning, and there are yellow vertical lines on any image. This wouldn't have been a huge issue, except for now when I'm primarily using the computer for Zoom meetings.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the webcam on your Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 Laptop, model number 81WE011UUS, ships with a 720p webcam with manual Privacy Shutter built in. First, be sure the manual Privacy Shutter is all the way open.. If it is only partially open it can cause the image displayed by the camera to be degraded. If that is not the issue, be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 on the computer, then update all of the BIOS files and driver, including the video drivers for the webcam, up to that latest version of Windows 10. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. Lenovo

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 Laptop. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

Amazing notebook for the price. Decent screen for indoor use, nice basic keyboard, battery lasts ~3 hours on battery saver, ~1 hour video conferencing or rendering, enough memory and processor speed for Adobe and other office tasks (not recommended for gaming). Only improvements would be keyboard backlight, slightly brighter screen, and less plasticy build.

the good: - great 15'' screen for the price - light - simple efficient design - fast enough for basic work - faster and cheaper than most chromebook with windows 10 apps the not so good: - no USB 3. Today most devices use USB 3 to charge up. It is super useful to have only 1 type of charger. This one uses a proprietary charger.

I gave on my old slow outdated laptop a few years and switched to a low level but well reviewed Chromebook. I loved the ease of use, long battery, and reliability of Chrome operating system. However I started to yearn for a computer with a bigger, high definition screen and could fun all of the applications I wanted. I got this laptop on an early black Friday sale with 3 months to return it and have been very pleased. The screen looks great and is plenty big. I have not had any slow down or system issues with the processor or RAM. The battery says 4 hours which is okay but I keep it near the charger most of the time. The only things I cant do with this machine is playing games but I knew that going in and don't really have much time for. Overall unless you want to get into gaming or other high powered usage you will be happy with this machine.

If you're truly on a tight budget, don't buy this for $450, or you might be disappointed. I caught it on sale for $300. (Yes!) For me, it works as a laptop should. Quick and responsive. Had to take it out of S mode, but that was easy. The combo of 8GB RAM and 256 SSD is just right for me. The build quality is different for me, but I have no problems with it. Speakers are better than I expected (I still use headphones though), and the camera is just okay for video chats. Just can't give it 5 stars; the battery is a bit on the weak side after a few weeks, but the Battery Conservation Mode (through Lenovo Vantage) works wonders when I'm not walking around with it, which is rare. Aside from that, I was way past due for a new laptop, and I am definitely satisfied.

I would say I give this 3.5 stars. This is my 2nd laptop the last being a Dell and lasting for 6yrs. This laptop is made of plastic which is different for me, but it is very nice. I tend to notice it gets dirty easy. The keyboard has a great easy typing style and feel. The Webcam has a gray wash and low quality which was disheartening since everything is so virtual now. Also the thing that makes me the most upset about the laptop is the battery I get about 2-3hrs of use. I don't want to be attached to a cord when using a laptop. If that was the case I would have gotten a PC. I wanted to go with the Yoga C720 however I went with this computer since it was a good budget option.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 Laptop, model number 81WE011UUS, ships with a 2CELL_35WH_INTERNAL, Lithium Polymer Battery, with a battery life of up to 7 hours, depending on the working the device is performing. If you are getting substantially less battery life, be sure Battery conservation Mode is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. Here is a link to instructions for turning off Battery Conservation Mode: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht103159. Also check what programs are running in the background on the computer. Be sure only the programs you want running in the background are. These programs will drain the battery. Here is a link to information about how to find out what programs are running in the background on your Windows 10 computer and how to manage them for better system performance: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-prevent-apps-running-background-windows-10. Then, finally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a faster rate. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. The good; IPS screen with decent specs. The bad: Build quality a bit below average. It seems larger compared to other laptops. For $300, it is a great buy and your experience will not be much different in comparison to a $600 laptop. The laptop market has now become polarized. It is not worth buying a mid-range laptop anymore.

Outstanding ENTRY LEVEL laptop. I almost didn’t buy this because I was suspicious of the price point. I’ve been using it for a month now and am impressed with the value of my purchase. The keyboard feels solid, the screen is better than I expected for the money and it has the basic specs for the mostly web-based work I needed it for. Don’t confuse price with value. Plenty of inexpensive things have little or no value. Plenty of expensive things have little or no value. This laptop has exceeded my expectations and continues to impress me with the VALUE of my purchase. Read the tech spec and base your decision on if those will meet your demands. For me, so far so good.

This Lenovo laptop certainly isn’t trying to be premium. However, the specs are very good for the price, and it has everything you need in a low-end laptop. In this category, you’re often looking at either half the memory, or half the SSD capacity. I consider 8 GB and 256 GB, respectively, to be minimum requirements. Anything less and you will be constantly frustrated. The i3 is also an upgrade from the various Pentium and Celeron options that you find among this range. Webcam quality is adequate. The screen is decent, at full HD. It’s higher resolution than a lot of the competition, and it’s IPS, so it doesn’t display the off-axis color shift of TN panels. Sound is actually pretty good (for a laptop). I also appreciate the number pad on the keyboard, which is frequently absent. The outer case is a bit thin and bendy, so be careful with it. Anyway, I don’t think you can beat the specs at the sale price, so if you need an email-typing, video-watching, spreadsheet calculating(?) budget laptop, go for it.

I got this laptop when it's on sale for $299 or $300. It's lightweight and fast, for a budget laptop. The color is very good and it looks almost like the more expensive UHD screens. Battery lasts between 5-6 hours depends what you're using it for, like web browsing or watching videos.

The Lenovo Ideapad 3 15" is a great laptop at $300. Upgradability wise, you can upgrade the M.2 SSD, WiFi card, and RAM. The system has 4gb of soldered RAM and 4gb of upgradable RAM. You can upgrade the ram to 4gb+8gb (possibly 4gb+16gb yet I cannot confirm this), even though the standard 8gb is just fine for general work. The 256gb SSD is pretty small, but at this price-point I'm not expecting much. The WiFi card is also pretty fast, nothing wrong there. The laptop does have a 2.5" drive bay, yet you have to buy the sata motherboard cable separately (Currently it shows as "out of stock" on the Lenovo Encompass website, but you can place an order for it. Part ID is 5C10S30052.) The screen is alright for 1080p. Whenever I type, however, the screen wobbles a bit. The speakers are also very nice for a laptop like this. Battery life could be a bit better, at full charge I usually get about 4-8 hours. Keyboard is okay, the key layout is nice and having a numpad is uncommon but welcomed. I wish there was a backlight for the keys though, hard to work in the dark. Overall for this price, its definitely one of the best budget laptops out there, but don't expect to game or do any heavy work on it. If it had a backlight for the keys, a little longer battery life, and either a larger SSD or a included sata cable to upgrade, then it would be 5 stars.

This has been a really good laptop so far. The display is great and the screen is large enough. The designers of the laptop were smart. The front facing camera comes with a simple, sliding shutter to cover it when you're not using it. Before that, I've used painters tape. (Someone was hacking cameras in our college dorms; I've always played it safe since). My only complaints are minor. I wish there was an ethernet port. I wish there were designated home and end keys. There are the home and end keys on the numpad, but that's annoying when you're used to the designated keys. The S Mode is annoying. You can't download Zoom, Chrome, Webroot, etc. with it in that mode. It's an easy click of a button to take it out of the S Mode though, so it's not a big deal. It's just a slight inconvenience at the very beginning.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 Laptop, model number 81WE011UUS. While this configuration does not ships with an ethernet port, you can connect this laptop to an ethernet cable, if necessary, by using a USB to ethernet adapter. There are Home and End keys within the 10-key numeric pad. Just take the NUM Lock off for direct access to the Home and End keys. This model ships with Windows 10 S-Mode 64-bit Operating System. Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. This is one of the best laptops that I bought for the price. Its so good for the price I bought 3 of this, 1 for me and 2 as gifts. The laptop is very snappy, boasting a 10th Gen i3 CPU, 8gb of RAM. It is also very light since the 256GB of storage is an SSD. The specs alone should entice many to buy this. However, what really sold me is the screen resolution in this price range. Learning from my past mistakes, I checked the specs AND the screen resolution. This laptop has a Full HD resolution and 15 inch which is the sweet spot for portability and productivity. Most, if not all, laptop in this price range only have HD (720p) resolution. I tell ya from experience, a fast laptop is nothing if the screen hurts your eye. In fact the screen resolution is one of the main specs manufacturers go cheap on this price range. This laptop does not have that problem. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.
