Buy something else
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop in June 2020. It doesn't even have 40 working hours on it. I use it occasionally for Zoom meetings or looking things up after working hours. The camera has "uninstalled" itself three times. This last time it can not be reinstalled???? What a rip off - sorry I purchased

Seemed great until it wasn't.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the laptop for about a week and a half. It's been nice because of it's light weight and battery life which would be perfect for general business use and some light web browsing. Top side speakers are a plus as well for content such as videos. I was enjoying the laptop until one of the times when I was flipping it into tablet mode there was a pop and in the top right area where my hand was the glass and digitizer broke. Not sure if it's a quality issue or if that part of the screen isn't properly supported. Now the touchscreen functionality doesn't work across the entire screen which means tablet mode is also useless. Were it not for that this would be a great 2-in-1.

Everything you need for the price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. From the fingerprint sensor, to the processor and the tablet laptop function. I love it! I use about 5 programs at one time and it doesn’t even slow down. Still runs smoothly as if I’m using one application at a time.

Worst laptop I ever bought!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can truly say this is the worst laptop I ever bought. During the first month I bought, it was getting super heated and had to exchange it. Then not even another month later, the hinge got messed up, making it difficult to open or close with ease. To fix it they ask for almost half the laptop price. The hardware is not durable and if you are planning something you can carry around and expect something that is strong, this is not the computer for you. I am a student and cannot afford to pay that kind of price and I needed something durable. However, if you want something pretty to sit on your table and not move it around much, then this is the laptop for you. For the amount of money that was paid, the quality is really cheap.

Broken after 90 days
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased at the end of October. It's been used maybe twenty times and sat safely on a desk in a quiet household. Suddenly one day it started rattling and vibrating. Lenovo hung up on me six times, tried to factory reset the computer until the tech guy got confused and aborted, and all they can offer is to send it to them for up to two weeks. It will be returned without software, and I can't afford to buy Office 360 again. Customer service is terrible. This model has many known issues. And it will cost you hundreds of dollars to fix it. Now I have a $900 broken laptop. 90 days. Paper towels are less disposable.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga C740-14. It is possible that restoring the system back to original factory settings may correct the issue you describe. Since you can not boot the computer, this system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the back, right side of the device, right near the cooling vent on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. If the problem persists after the factory reset, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

Camera malfunctions and never works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the C-740 for school use, as I just started grad school in June. It worked perfectly all summer, but within a month of owning it, the camera stopped working. Apparently it was a software issue that lots of others have had, and there would be an update that would mitigate the issue. This worked. Literally a week later, the camera completely stopped working once again. All it shows is a black screen. I am in zoom classes all week and now my camera only shows a black screen. Its annoying and counterproductive to online school, and geek squad advised that the only way it can get fixed is shipping my computer out to get repaired. It is a BRAND NEW computer it shouldn't need to be shipped out when I haven't even owned it for more than 4 months. I should have saved my money and bought another computer, this one has been a huge headache.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the webcam on your Lenovo Yoga C740-14. This model ships with a 720p (HD) webcam with manual Privacy Shutter built in. Be sure the Privacy Shutter is completely open before trying to use the webcam or the webcam will not operate. There is a small slider, directly above the webcam lens. Move the tab to the right to open the Privacy Shutter. There is a red dot over the webcam lens that will disappear when the Privacy Shutter is fully open. This will indicate that the webcam is really to use. You can close the Privacy Shutter when you are done with the webcam for your security, by sliding the tab to the left to close the Privacy Shutter. The Red Dot will appear over the webcam lens when the Privacy Shutter is closed. If the issue continues, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

Bad product, worse service... do not biy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do NOT Buy this computer!!! But if you do get GeekSquad protection. I bought 3 of these last year. 2 in April, one in August. One system completely died no warning just died while in use. Lenovo premium support is a complete rip off, lies to customers and gives them the run around while not coming to fix the defective product per the service agreement. One continually drops windows, luckily I am an Electrical engineer with a CS background and have restored that one... twice... in a month... the third system won't keep a wireless connection. What use is a PC without internet. LENOVO used to be IBM quality, these are trash! And the service is a joke. Save your money

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having WiFi connectivity issues with one of your Lenovo Yoga C740-14 Laptops. It is possible that resetting your computer back to original factory settings will also reset the WiFi connectivity as well. Since you can not connect to WiFi for an Over-The-Air reset, there is an onboard recovery copy of Windows 10 on this computer. This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the bottom right side of the device, right near the top right corner of the cooling vent on the bottom of the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Wouldn't buy it again
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was talked into this machine by the salesman and am very disappointed. It does the most basic of things without a problem, but with anything involving movement (video clips/simple games) it either freezes or drops the project/game altogether. Would NOT recommend!!!

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga C740-15. We always recommend you check the requirements and compatibility of any software you will be installing on your new computer, before you invest in any computer. Be sure your new computer can support the software you will need to use. Also, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

WARNING - POSSIBLE BAD HINGE DESIGN
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a Yoga a few years ago and the screen cracked when one of the hinges failed by separating from the case and crashing through the screen. The hinge was only connected on one side to the casing so it was not a very strong design in my opinion. I suggest checking to see if Lenovo improved the hinge design with this newer model before you buy it. My laptop is about 2.5 years old and is basically useless now with a cracked screen. Repair costs are around $500. Not worth it.

Defective
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this a week ago for a secondary computer that I can run non-MacOS programs on for an engineering course I am in online. Simple Windows operating system components needed to run program, nothing major. Checked with both the sales person and my dad (electrical engineer, computer guru) to verify this would be ok to run. Store couldn't find new in box model left, so I took an open-box one home. Froze during the setup menu when I first turned it on, Freezes every 10 minutes with 4 tabs open in Chrome and my engineering program open. Had really high hopes since it was lightweight, compact, and seemed to have everything I needed. Sleek aluminum design with touchscreen seemed like a nice "upgrade" to my 2013 MacBook Pro. Control, Alt, Delete won't bring me to task menu, and I have to hard power down with the power button on the side. NOT a keeper. Will be returning and finding something else.

We recommend you check with the specific software publisher's web site for their compatibility with Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating system and the minimum/recommended hardware requirements (Is a Graphics card required, the processor speed and the minimum required system RAM and the minimum available hard drive space) to run their program, then compare those requirements to this system's configuration. Additionally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. Severe keyboard lag, AVOID!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Severe keyboard lag on this brand new 800$ laptop. Even though I have only a few apps open and my cpu usage is below 20%, the keyboard lag kicks in every 10-15 mins and LASTS FOR 4 MINS. A basic Chromebook could do a better job than this. Go for a better reliable laptop, not this trash. Also, fingerprint reader has stopped working 6 weeks ago. Like Doyle mentioned, this keyboard issue is affecting a lot of people. Go to this forum: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Lenovo-Yoga-C740-Keyboard-input-often-lags/m-p/5007108. Stay clear of Lenovo!

Great until (Lenovo) BIOS update.. now DOA @ 3 Wks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I LOVED this computer... until I performed a recommended Lenovo BIOS update... NOW, it is dead...the battery literally won't charge. The machine is ONLY 3 WEEKS OLD! And BB only has a 15 day return period LOL (going to Costco next time). So, I get to send it back to Lenovo for a couple of weeks. However, prior to the update, the computer was great! Nice display, good keyboard, decent battery, perfect dimensions/weight. Will update review after I get it back from Lenovo....

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the auto-brightness setting on your Yoga C740-14. First be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 on the computer. Then update all of the BIOS files and drivers up to that latest version of Windows 10. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software installed on the computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help.
