You can keep your computer running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. Posted .Hello, thank you for choosing the Lenovo Yoga C740. We are so happy to hear the performance, features, and sleek modern design of the Lenovo Yoga C740 is meeting your computing needs so well. The C740 model # 81TC000JUS has a battery life of up to 13 hours. If you are getting substantially less battery life, please adjust your screen brightness settings. A setting of 100% brightness will drain your battery much faster than a lower setting. We recommend setting the screen brightness to some value below 100% that is still comfortable for you to view. Next be sure Battery conservation Mode is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. Here is a link to instructions for turning off Battery Conservation Mode: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht103159. Also check what programs are running in the background on the computer. Be sure only the programs you want running in the background are. These programs will drain the battery. Here is a link to information about how to find out what programs are running in the background on your Windows 10 computer and how to manage them for better system performance: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-prevent-apps-running-background-windows-10. Then, finally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a faster rate. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. Loved it, but incredibly poor build quality

I've had this laptop for just shy of a year and have become increasingly frustrated by the product the longer I've had it. At first glance, the build quality seemed great, the internal specs are great for the price, and the laptop definitely has a solid premium feel. I was initially really satisfied with my purchase! But as time went on, I've had several inexcusable problems with this product. For context, I'm an graduate student in an engineering program and am quite capable of troubleshooting computer related problems (my other PC is a workstation I built myself). I bought this as a travel companion for occasionally taking my work on the go and for video calls, with the intention of giving it infrequent use. Perhaps most frustratingly, the built-in microphone array is faulty (and has been as long as I've had the device). It cuts in and out intermittently without warning and nothing I tried seemed to address the issue. It was so bad that I had to get a separate USB webcam in order to complete any video calls. I also typically plug in my device to an external monitor, and that has also been an incredibly frustrating experience. For some inexplicable reason, the display on the 2nd monitor randomly cuts to black for several seconds at a time, during which I cannot interact with my PC. At first I thought it was the monitor or the HDMI cable, or my usb-c to hdmi adapter, but none of those were the problem; it seems to be a hardware or firmware issue. Lastly, I've had the internal cooling fan on this device seize up and jam on me several times. I am always very conscious of where I place my laptop (i.e., not on fabric surfaces, dust-free locations, etc.) and after cleaning the fan, the issue persisted, though somehow corrected itself eventually. This issue was really the breaking point for me, as the device has been nearly unusable when the fan jams. Overall, I really wanted to like this product, but I've had so many issues related to the build quality that I have been seriously considering a new laptop after less than a year. This experience has completely ruined my perception of Lenovo and as such I would recommend anyone considering a new laptop purchase to steer clear of anything Lenovo right now.

Defective, I overpaid and Best Buy doesn't care

Also, they just dropped the price by $50, but I am out of the "Price Match Guarantee" period (which ends when the return period ends). The return/price match period is only 2 weeks. Not all that generous for their Best Buy "Members." I'm pretty disappointed that I have a malfunctioning laptop that I paid $50 more for. I am about 50 days out of the return/price match period. I called Best Buy, and they wouldn't do anything to rectify the situation. They just told me to call Lenovo. It would have been nice for them to at least honor the price match considering my laptop already isn't working properly less than 2 months later. I now have to invest time (disruption to my work) and money to fix it. Don't think I'll be a returning customer.
