very good soundbar gets very loud nice bass and looks sleek

I did not know if I would need this or not when I got it. Some tvs don't have loud enough speakers in them for my size room. So I was going to return it if I did not need it. Well the tv sound system was loud enough by itself, even better than one I replaced but I can't take this sound bar back. The sound is just too good,it is richer and deeper than any thing I have heard before, Rarely do I turn it up over 25% of total volume.

About the bar? Scroll down to all caps section to skip the story! I purchased this open box. Returned it for a Sonos. Big mistake. Sonos ecosystem wasn't for me. No bass. Forced phone useage. It would be awesome with enough money in it. But then wouldn't most things? So tried to get the open box couldn't do it. Went to 4 different best buys could not beat the deal I originally found it for. Went back a second time told my story of my mistake and wound up getting the sound bar back. Thank goodness. ABOUT THE BAR 5.1 channel Dolby 500 watt (do note 5.1 channel is considered 5.1 because two up firing speakers you have to be in movie mode to use them) It has good atmosphere in my man cave. 14x14 room. It will blast you out. Finding content that is Dolby makes it come to life BUT not perfectly. Researched a ton found that specifically the LG H3 H5 AND H7 working the LG music flow app on my Android phone would configure THIS BAR (SJ9) NOT (SK10Y or similar K models) to work with rear speakers. Avoid the LG SJ4 speakers they DO NOT work. All of the negative reviews for the H series speakers are typically older LG fixed all the drops and syncing issues. You too can have a true multispeaker setup with this bar and the LG music flow app. ENJOY! PS. I have this setup with a Samsung TV and tried using radiant 360 speakers R3 handle the rears. It won't do it. You need a Samsung 7 series or better sound bar to do the rear channel processing and I have a 9000 series Samsung TV so if anything would have done it it'd been that one.

I wanted a full surround sound, but saw this with the Atmos. I purchased it with the option of maybe returning it. Once I hooked it up and played some 4k movies I really enjoyed the sound of this! Even watching TV is a great enhancement. The atmos I have not had a chance to enjoy yet but hope too soon. I do miss having the speakers in the rear, but I have been very impressed with this bar.

Upgraded my TV to the LG OLED and this was a great addition to complete the package. Bought this model because I wanted the Dolby Atmos feature. Has great sound tho wished it had a little more oomph in the sub. Easy setup and had it connected and up in running in no time. Listening to movies that have Dolby Atmos brings a new dimension to the experience!

Coming from TV speakers the SJ9 sounds outstanding. The list price is way out of line, sale price that I paid was not bad people on the forums agree. The complaint that I have along with others on the SJ9 forum is syncing the sound with the video and it appears this is common with all sound bars. Plenty of sound sync videos on youtube.

Went to buy a surround sound system. Found out that is now outdated and the sound bar is the way to go. The one in the store was awesome. Sounded like you could actually hear birds flying above your head. haha The sound bar was VERY easy to hook up. It took longer to get it out of the box. Got a great deal. I'm very pleased with the purchase of this sound bar!

I purchased the SJ9 soundbar with an LG OLED TV. The SJ9 purchase was based on mostly favorable reviews. Mounting below TV was straightforward, after making allowance to accommodate clearance for the wiring track cover to and from TV/power outlet. Sound performance was well above average, though as per previous reviews, Dolby ATMOS is less than impressive and a bit of a push as a 5.1.2 experience. However,. the Sony Dolby ATMOS alternative currently sells for about 40% more. Do exercise courage when pairing with the TV. Multiple available options are self explanatory in the pull-down menu, though wired ARI is considered best. Written instructions are worthless and do not specify that one has to turn all the power off, then turned back on for the handshake to materialize. So what was hoped to be a turn key operation has taken a day of trial and error. One is also expected to download an App to sync with WiFi and make other operational adjustments. For someone who just wants a performance soundbar and not a Swiss Army knife, it is a bit of a hassle. Overall happy with the purchase, and would recommend.

I had no intention of purchasing this product, it was an impulse buy. I'm really glad I did though. It sounds great and the subwoofer delivers. I have enjoyed the wifi feature so that it links to google home for music applications in addition to just watching movies. This is one of my favorite purchases this year.

Most economical atmos sound bar. Original sale price was $699. Will make any tv sound significantly better. Not much atmos media available except for designated 4K blu ray disks. Only issue I have had is syncing video with sound. There is an adjustment but it needs to be played with to achieve any benefit.

Very good sounding sound bar, atmos work pretty well, only draw back is when hooked up to a xbox one x with 4k pass through the HDMI handshake doesn't connect, but its a easy fix just turn off the sound bar and then turn it back on

This is an amazing bar...BUUUUTTTTT....you can't enjoy it to the maximum without having DOBY ATMOS in one of your other devices: +You need a tv that has DOBY ATMOS which is just came out (netflix has DOBY ATMOS but unless the tv has it, you can't enjoy it) +If you don't have a tv that has it, then you'd have to get a DVD player that has it aka NEW DVD player +FYI the new apple TV doesn't have DOBY ATMOS +you can use it in Xbox but again it has to be a new version (X) So while we enjoy the sound, we haven't used it to its capacity. We either have to buy a tv (ours is only 1 year old) or wait until the new Apple TV comes out to see if they will feature DOBY ATMOS Had we known we would have waited on buying a new tv. if you buy please understand what you'll need.

I originally purchased the 7.1 Channel sound bar after listening to the 5.1.2 Channel in the store. I thought more was better...right? Actually, the 5.1.2 channel had better sound quality. Perhaps it's is the built in Dolby but I returned the the 7.1 Channel and bought 5.1.2 Channel. I'm much happier.

There is definitely a slight learning curve to using this product. Once we got it to work and figured it out, it’s been pretty easy. It’s got great sound for our family movie nights. Plays loud enough that it sounds like we are in a theater and drowns out my kids constant talking throughout the movie.

Have this tied to my LG OLED TV -- so it really is a GREAT combo. I like the pre-set sound choices, and the little remote is convenient. Has been easy to set-up, and I've never had to deal with any re-connect/loss connection issues. Very happy with this purchase

The box was huge but the sound and subwoofer fit into the space near my TV just fine. Connected the HDMI cable to the bi-directional port on the LG TV, changed the speaker setting and it worked and sounds great. Definitely increased the dynamic range and base compared to the TV speakers.

I had a friend tell me about this atmos sound bar after returning from the 2017 CES. It was everything that was claimed. I have had 7.1 professionally tuned systems. This sound bar - especially when listening to an atmos source - is as good as my 7.1 system. It has up scaling technology that substantially improves stereo sources. The only negative I have found is the inability to isolate/tune individual channels, e.g., center channel voices. For the price and ease of use, it is an exceptional buy.

The best sound bar I’ve ever heard. Music is phenomenal (especially live accoutics sets). Dolby atmos is no joke. If you love movies and want all the effects of a movie theatre in your living room. It’s hard to pass this up, especially when these are on sale. Quality sound bar.

I switched from a full surround sound system to this soundbar and I have been blown away by the sound. It sounds even better than my other system did. Not the cheapest soundbar out there but definitely worth every penny.

We went in wanting to consolidate our 7.1 home theater system into 2-3 components without suffering the sound we are used to. This soundbar and sub combo did the trick! The sound is amazing and the bass rumbles with ease. The Dolby Atmos technology is the way to go.
