We have been using the LG Grams for about 2 years now. We love the lightweight and the large screen. The matte black is a fingerprint magnet, but oh well. My only issue is that you cannot upgrade the memory. What you buy is what you get like a Microsoft surface. Good unit overall.

LG 17" GRAM ~ ALMOST PERFECT

Upon unpacking the black 17" GRAM laptop I was taken aback at how light and thin it was! Honestly this is the featherweight of all laptops for the size weighing in at a mere 2.98 pounds. I can carry it with one hand! I did learn quickly to open the lid in the center or use a hand on each end as it's on the flexible side. Doing it that way I've had no problems since and for sure no damage will come to the laptop.
In the box is the laptop, a nice small size 65 watt USB-C charger and a charging cord. Also in the box was an unexpected USB-C to Ethernet adapter so I can actually use this hardwired to my router if I want to as its nearby. It also has a manual and warranty pamphlet. The usual Windows setup was fast and easy once I started. Of course there were numerous updates to be installed, as usual.
The display is a non-reflective matte ISP full HD 2560x1600 60 Hz and non-touch. For inputs you'll find one HDMI, 2 USB-C (one is used for the power cord) and an audio headphone input. Then there is a Micro-SD card slot and two USB-A inputs. It also has a 1080p camera and 2 microphones.
I have opened up at least 10 different windows to work with and switching between while using I found no lag or glitches. Ran speedy just as it should. No overheating issues either. Stayed nice and only slightly warm. There is a fan that you can control using the LG Smart Assistant app if needed. I left mine on the default NORMAL. I also found this laptop to be extremely quiet which is a real plus.
The case will attract fingerprints and I intend to eventually purchase a leave-on case for the lid anyway. There was a thick plastic protective cover on the lid and for now I am leaving it in place. It doesn't look bad for a temporary fix.
The full keyboard is also backlit and has a appreciated number pad on the right. The 5.2x3.3 touchpad is very responsive and the keyboard keys are spaced nicely. I found it easy to use. Very roomy with a good touch, at least for me.
Inside there's Windows 11 Home OS 64 bit, 1 TB NVMe SSD, 13th Generation i7- 1360P 2.2GHz and a fantastic 32 GB of ram - making for blazing fast speeds. The wireless LAN is Wifi 6 and the wired LAN is 10/100 for Ethernet. The graphics are integrated with Intel Iris Xe. It has an 80 Wh battery and charges fast. 12-core CPU and Bluetooth 5.1.
So far everything was looking outstanding but here's the issue keeping me from rating it 5 stars. The sound is way too soft and weak, even at 100%. Those two 1.5 watt speakers on the bottom just can't push out what's needed and especially since it has Dolby Atmos. I called an LG tech and spoke at length about this situation. They are aware of the issue but because it's so thin and it was engineered that way there isn't a lot to be done ~ at least not yet. We did delete the Realtek driver and reinstall but it didn't help. So I figured out my own solution to this and believe me it now works wonderful! I have a portable Bluetooth speaker that hooked up right away to the laptop. Finally! Sound and I mean great loud sound! I then tried my headphones and because it has that audio input I simply plugged them in there and once again ~ fantastic LOUD sound! So on went Netflix and YouTube music and WOW what a difference! The screen quality looks beautiful too. Not sure if every GRAM laptop has this problem but the tech mentioned he has been getting numerous calls about it. So if you are one of the folks, like myself, that ends up with a poor sounding laptop, just do what I did and you'll hear what you need to. No need to return it if you are happy with everything else or send in for a repair that probably can't be fixed right now according to what I was told. I am so happy to have discovered how to correct it to my liking! Hope my information helps you as well. Now there may be apps out there that help correct sound issues but I didn't want to have to start downloading software off the internet not knowing what effect it might have on my laptop. I like my solution a lot better.
One last very useful thing I want to mention is the LG Smart Assistant app which is really clever and so handy. You can do tons of things and it's easy to navigate. A great move on LG's part for sure!
All in all I am enjoying the use of this GRAM. The display is brilliant and clear while streaming movies
and music videos. Handles workloads without faults, although I did not try gaming on it. I can easily carry it from room to room with one hand and I'm finding the battery life is exceptional. Aside from the quirky sound volume issue, I can find nothing to dislike. It's speedy ~ has everything I need ~ and it's definitely a laptop you'll no doubt learn to love. I have!!

Need to be careful while using this laptop. Avoid putting too many things on the lid.
Once I stack some paperwork on it and take them together to another office, then after I wake it back from sleep, its keyboard does not respond and need to reboot it to solve it.

A Light & Beautiful Powerhouse!

I have admired the LG gram series of laptops for a while now but always assumed that there had to be something missing to allow a laptop to be that thin and light, but I can tell you now, if LG cut back on anything, I haven't found it!
I was flat-out amazed when I took the laptop out of the box and felt just how light and thin it really is without, you know, a security cable or whatever holding it down in the store. I'd swear that the box alone weighs more than this 17" laptop, which is almost silly. I fired her up and basked in the glow of her 17" screen with nice and thin bezels. BTW, don't be surprised that the computer doesn't fire up immediately upon opening. I've gotten used to that with other computers and while the gram CAN do that, it's just not configured for that right out of the box, you just have to flip one toggle on LG management software.
Speaking of software, I was initially impressed with the suite of programs that LG installs on the gram, and can be incredibly useful (especially for theft/security sake), but man do they seem like a privacy nightmare to me. There is an incredible amount of integration of the software with the camera and microphones to monitor the environment to help guard your laptop if you are away, or to follow your eyes and dim the screen when you look away or move the cursor depending on where you are looking. But considering that there is not a physical camera cover and you are just 'warned' that the camera is on by a small light (and nothing to note that the microphone is recording), I'd be a little concerned about where all that data is going. This is my only real concern with the gram, and like I said, the software can do some cool things, and you are also not required to use them, so I didn't knock the laptop for these privacy concerns.
Back to the laptop itself, I was so glad to see that the power brick utilizes USB-C as its connector. It makes it hugely more versatile for me since I have a high powered plug in station on my desk with a 100w cable already there. That means I can leave the LG brick in my bag and just plug in using my desk cord while I'm working, and the gram 17" is great to work on. The trackpad is one of the better ones I have used and has a very nice 'glide' to it, which helps a lot since it is HUGE. The trackpad is also nicely 'clicky'.
The full-sized keyboard, while not my favorite, it is still pleasant to type on with just slightly spongy keypresses. My only real concern while typing on the LG gram was just how expansive the keyboard deck is (of course to be expected with any laptop of this size), and my fear of scratching the surface with the band of my watch. I might need to see about getting some kind of protection for that surface.
While working on the gram, mostly doing Scrivener and Photoshop, the 32GB of RAM and the i7 Evo processor kept things running butter smooth. Even under what would probably be the biggest load I would ever put on her, doing some serious Photoshopping, the gram stayed incredibly quiet.
I have only one 'concern' with the LG gram and it is a function of it being so thin and light. When closing the screen/lid of the laptop, I did my usual move of just grabbing the upper left corner and pushing down. When I did that with the gram, I saw an amount of flex that I have NEVER seen in a laptop before. Again, I SHOULD have expected that, but it was still a surprise to me. That being said, I'm just going to probably use both corners or perhaps the center of the screen when closing the laptop.
All-in-all I'm extremely happy with the LG gram 17" laptop and can't wait to see what kind of work we can put out together!

BIG & Powerful, but Light, Light, Light

The LG gram is touted as LG’s lightweight laptop, but this is also a powerhouse of a machine. This particular model is packed with a 13th Generation Intel i7 processor, a 1 TB NVMe SSD for storage, and a whopping 32GB of RAM. Even with all that power inside, the gram weighs less than 3 pounds, it is less than half the weight of my 13” and 15” laptops from other manufacturers. It can be held with a couple of fingers, it’s that light!
I initially considered this laptop for office use with spreadsheets, office apps, etc. but quickly realized that it’s equally suited as an entertainment system. The 17” WQXGA display with its non-reflective surface combined with Dolby Atmos 360 surround produces an incredible viewing experience. LG TVs have always been industry-leading and that quality shows through on this screen. As most rooms in my home are bright, the non-reflective finish is perfect for reducing glare and reflections.
From a power perspective, the gram has an 80Wh battery and includes a “mini adapter” 65W power adapter and cord. It’s definitely on the smaller side which is great for taking the gram on the road. LG does have a smaller power cord available for purchase, think the size of a tablet charger. The power cord is based on a USB-C platform so basically any power adapter in that 65W range will be compatible.
The gram features multiple connection options including 2 x Thunderbolt 4, 2 x USB 3.2, 1 x HDMI, a headphone jack, and a Micro SD card reader. LG also includes a USB to Ethernet dongle for hardwiring the system to a router. The keyboard is full-sized and the touchpad feels enormous. There’s a nice click to the keys and touchpad. Everything is a bit offset to the left of the keyboard which takes a little getting used to if a more traditional laptop keyboard is typically used.
Some of the other great features LG includes on this system is an Intel Iris XE graphic card, which is on the lower end and a bit surprising considering all the bells and whistles on this machine. I’m not a huge gamer, so this isn’t a concern, but a true gamer would want to look at one of the other versions of the gram with higher-end graphics capabilities. Just to be clear LG does not tout this system as a gaming laptop. LG Glance is another great feature that provides security based on recognizing when the user is not at the system or looking away. Intel Unison is also included and makes connecting the gram to other devices. This model ships with Windows 11 Home and features many AI-based features for creating, searching, etc.
Pros:
- Incredibly light for a 17” powerhouse of a laptop
- Great build quality as expected by LG
- Battery life is above average and quick charging is supported
- USB-C charging and reduced-size charging adapter
- Loaded with processing power – 32GB RAM and Intel Evo 13th Gen Core i7 processor
- The non-reflective display helps to eliminate glare and reflections
Cons:
- With all the processing power in this system, a higher-end graphics card would be a bonus
Overall the LG gram is the lightest laptop I’ve ever owned and that’s saying something for a 17” laptop! It’s loaded with processing power, a strong battery, and an impressive 17” WQXGA display. I would most certainly recommend this version of LG gram for almost any user out there other than hardcore gamers.

The screen is dull and lifeless
The build quality is flimsy and cheap
The camera doesn't work for signin because they cheaped out and didn't get one that qualifies for windows hello
And the computer already broke typing 0 repeatedly even though nothing is touching the 0. Now the device is completely useless
I spent a fortune for me, over $1000, every dollar I had saved up to invest in this laptop for work that I desperately need, and in 1 month it's completely useless
Bestbuy customer service will do absolutely nothing for me, it's over their 2 week return period
Geek squad won't touch it for less than $150(that I don't have, but just the principal of it)
And LG I've been on the phone and website with for an hour and no one can help me
I now have a $1000 paperweight and no way to work,
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

LG Gram - what a great laptop

I am writing this the day after receiving this LG Gram laptop from BestBuy. I was fortunate to have purchased it at a great price, having waited long enough to catch it on a daily deal special.
While I am still learning what this computer is capable of, I am impressed with what I have seen so far. The instant on and very fast shut down are much quicker than any other computer I have had. The large bright clear screen is amazing, even without the upgraded graphics some other laptops claim to have. I see no need for anything better than this. The no touch screen is a plus to me, as I never would have used it and believe there is more stability and clarity with a regular screen.
I have not done anything to put the high Intel speed processor or the 32 gigs of ram to test but everything I have done so far has been very fast with no lag time. Even downloading updates and adding software has happened much faster than on any other computer I have used in the past.
The sound is amazing, almost sounding like surround sound. Maybe that is due to the speakers being mounted under the laptop? Setting the speakers to 50% is plenty loud for normal listening. Even at 100%, which is too loud for inside the house, the audio is crystal clear.
The keyboard is just right as far as tension when typing. The letters on each key seem to be a bit larger than on other keyboards, which makes them easier to see. The position of the keyboard is a bit high compared to the base of the laptop, meaning there is a lot of room between the bottom of the keyboard and the bottom edge of the laptop. This could be due to the large touch pad but it did take a bit to get used to it, having my wrists resting on the laptop, rather than below the bottom of the laptop. Now that I am used to it, I guess it is actually more comfortable to type this way.
My only complaint so far has been a rather loud fan noise when the fan came on. However, I found an adjustment and since I turned the fan noise setting to low from normal, I don't hear it anymore.
This laptop was a retirement gift to myself. While I do not think I will ever realize the many things I can do with it, I suspect this will be the last computer I will need to buy or upgrade for many years.
I am very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking for something great to do just about anything with that is computer related.

The BEST Ultrabook with large screen

LG Gram 17 is one of the only thin, lightweight laptops with large screens. This is the choice for people who need a bigger screen while having portable needs. The weight of the laptop and adapter is incredible for a 17-inch laptop. The battery is killing the market as well. Almost it has no competitor in this category of laptop.
However, there are some cons you need to know before you purchase this item. The texture of this laptop is not as good as the traditional ultrabook, to control the weight of this notebook material is a little bit plastic, although not very cheap but not delicate.
Furthermore, do not expect this laptop (the Gram series) can handle heavy missions such as rendering, gaming, or any other designing software, even with the RTX 3050 graphic card version.
Put simply, the performance of this laptop is just okay. This should be used for office work or simple recreation purposes only.
BTW... I purchased this at a discount of $999 for the 32G/1T/1360P version. DO NOT buy this at the original price.

Pretty good laptop, but there is no fingerprint sensor, and the facial recognition software doesn't work. No explanation why. They covered up the place where the sensor used to be with a fancy Intel sticker. Pretty dishonest. And the settings seem to allow a fingerprint registration, but this just shows bad software. Kinda humiliating to keep being suggested to press down on the fingerprint sensor which doesn't exist. What else is missing?

BIG clear screen, fast boot up, light weight, Energy Star, very small light electrical connection block. Great for casual games, internet browsing, watching movies, mobility. Only negative is the keyboard, which is moved closer to the screen than many others (Lenovo for example). The keypad is enlarged, which could be a plus for some users, but is the opposite for folks who may do a lot of typing and need to reach over the big keypad. The keyboard back lighting is dim, and there is poor contrast with the keys. Otherwise a really desirable laptop for many users.
