After careful research, I went with LIFX over Philips Hue. The LIFX is much brighter and you do not need a hub. LIFX works with my Amazon Echo and Echo Dot right out of the box. This strip is a nice addition to any room. I purchased two of them but only one survived. The connection from the power cord to the first strip is flimsy. Any extra movement or wiggling of the strip should be avoided. My first strip broke and I had to return it. When I connected my second setup for another room, I used a piece of electrical tape to secure the power cord and the first strip of lights. I would recommend using two people to set this up so that there is little to no wiggle room. The color options with the LIFX app are very good.

By far the best choice in LED strip lighting, much brighter than Hue strips and need no hub!

I bought this set of lights to go on top of the valance over vertical blinds in my family room. They were very easy to set up, and provide extra lighting in my family room in the evening. I connected them to my Amazon Echo, and have Alexa turn the lights off and on. It works like a charm. I have used the android app to hone in on colors as the choices in Alexa are limited. I like that each zone in each section of the strips can be changed to different colors, but I generally just leave one color on the strips which are all connected. It should be noted that these strips cannot be cut to shorten them, I had to wrap the end of one strip around the end of the valance so it didn't hang down. For my application, this worked fine. In the future, I plan to replace some of my light bulbs with LIFX light bulbs. Hopefully, the price will come down by then.

I didn't want to try the Lifx strip. After looking for things I could do with the hue strip using third party apps I found I was very limited compared to what the Lifx strip could do. My house is full of HomeKit enabled items so I wasn't wanting to add a smart device that did not have HomeKit but the ability to paint on the color combo I want and have the strip move with the touch of my iPhone sold me. Well that and that they are extremely bright. I have added these to the front of my office desk to get an awesome glow off the wall and I couldn't be more happy.

I love theses lights. The zone control for multicolored lighting is great. There are a few third-party apps that integrate nice as well.... Alexa, IFTT, a couple others too. Looks great. Love them.

This item is great. These are way better than Phillips HUE version, and cheaper. They have zones as well, which means you can have more than one color on at a time. I really enjoy having theses behind my 65in TV. It makes gaming and tv watching more immersive. sorry, the image is a bit crooked! The image below is also one that the lights move, and change...

Lifx is winning. These are awesome just youtube the product and see how amazing this is and best of all no hub required. Lifx app has the option to group your lights, create scenes, use themes and many effects. If you just want your lights to just change colors randomly without you having to be involved you can do that. You also have the option of using them as Strobe lights and Music visualizers....pair these lights with Echo Dot and you've got a winner.

Will lose connection to wifi / network about once a week. Have to unplug and plug back in socket to re-establish connection. Placed string under cabinet and another under breakfast bar

No hub required. Just download the lifx app and get it connected to your Wi-Fi and you're good to go.

I've have these for only 4 months & now I'm have an issue with a portion of the strip. On blue "scenes" or "ice white" there's a 4-5 inch area that doesn't change color it's green or on other scenes its gone altogether. I've attached an image. I'm in contact with the company & they suggested a firmware update that did not work. Hopefully I can get it resolved, repaired or replaced.

I own 4 of the LIFX 1000 bulbs and love them. I just moved into a new home and have been planning on installing under cabinet lights, so I was excited that LIFX came out with these so that I could stick with them vs mixing up with Phillips Hue. The strips were easy to setup and pair and they are nice and bright. After hiding the wire and installing 2 separate strips in my kitchen, I noticed that one of the strips emits a green hue when certain whites are selected. It's pretty obvious since they are right next to each other. If I set to 3500K or higher, they match and no green hue. Disappointing, but not enough for me to want to send them back. It appears to be a real issue since other reviewers on Amazon indicate the same thing. Fingers crossed that a software update will fix this issue. - I'd wait and make sure they fix the green hue before purchasing.

This Lifx Z setup worked perfectly for my kitchen under-cabinet lighting. I decided it best to get this Best Buy exclusive because it comes with 3 separate lengths. The lights are very bright and installation is extremely easy. I appreciate being able to choose my white light color temperature and using bright color combinations matching my favorite teams while watching sports. I opted not to use the adhesive backing and purchased some clips from a popular adhesive-hook manufacturer (these were intended for Christmas lights, but worked perfectly). Overall, I highly recommend these. Especially since boring under-cabinet lighting from the hardware store would have cost me just as much.

This product works great! Wonderful vivid colors easy setup. Only issue we has was that they didn't stay stuck so we bought some 3m clear adhesive strips that are used to hand photos and such worked great! they would probably be fine on a smooth surface we put the on the crown molding. Great product tho.

LED light strips are easy to install and able to go places regular lighting could not go, but have had two of four controller fail over time. LIFX support is excellent, prompt and easy to communicate with, but I do have concerns about the controller longevity over time. This has not stopped me from purchasing additional kits since the first failure, just be prepared for possible failures, and put the controllers where they are accessible.

I own several LIFX bulbs and I'm a big fan of the flexibility and lack of a bridge. When I heard these announced, I couldn't wait for the possibilities. My main intent was to mount them to the back of my 4K television and create an ambient lighting effect in the room. Installation: The back is coated with 3M adhesive 9080A...it cannot stick to even an immaculately cleaned television. I have tried everything short of drilling the strips into place. I still am unsure of a final solution to the problem. Pro: Beautifully bright, vivid colors that are made easy via LIFX app. Even at 50% brightness, it lights the room up more than enough to create an effect and not stub your toe. Con #1: The colors seem to shift over 20+ minutes unexpectedly. If you refer to the photo, I didn't change any settings but 30 minutes later the lights were all blue...perhaps this is a software thing. Con #2: Does not integrate with Huey app to listen / watch television and adjust colors accordingly. If they did that, it would be a killer combo. Con #3: Perhaps they're named LIFX Z because they can only be shaped along the Z-axis. If you want to run these in a square or track pattern around the back of your tv, I wish you the best of luck. With a little bit of foresight by LIFX, they could have profited and helped consumers by the marketing of an elbow connector. Summary: I won't be returning these because they're just so dang fun and look great. I'll have to come up with a more creative and permanent mounting solution than using the premounted 3M adhesive. I think that there's even more potential if LIFX will market an elbow connector, release a software patch and find a way to sync the lights with what's on TV!

I've got a LIFX bulb and it's great. I got this strip to add to my smart home setup. The colors are great, and it's very bright. The main issue I have is that my router (Asus OnHub by Google) automatically switches WiFi channels to minimize congestion, and there is no way to disable this "feature". The LIFX Z strip is the only device on my network that has any issues with this and as a result it disconnects regularly, requiring unplugging it and plugging it back in, which completely defeats the purpose of a "smart" and "connected" device. The LIFX bulb I have works just fine all the time. Other than it not being "smart" or "connected", it's great!

A must buy if you want to add some ambience to any part of your living space. Not only is it easy to set up but its colors are extremely bright and the app lets you truly harness the full capability of these LED light strips. Pros: Colors: very bright and accurate Set up: super easy, if you can set up your wifi, then you can set up this light strip Multizone: you can change colors on the light strip to your liking using the app Adhesive: 3M strips so you can stick them almost anywhere ( I haven't used this yet because I am undecided on the placement but will probably use the adhesive soon) Applications: ability to change colors in real time from app to the led strip, strobe, color change, candle flicker, audio visualizer, movement of lights in a patter (after the newest firmware update) and the fact that these lights remember what the last color was before you turn it off from either the light switch or the app No need for HUB: just plug into the socket and download the app. no need to buy a hub or bridge Cons: none, absolutely love these

Ive researched both brands Phillips HUE & LIFX- after reading and reading videos and videos, I am very impressed. Took a bit to set up the app on phone but once controlled the possibilities are endless. bright & soft whites, awesome colors....... just perfect. I will bore more of LIFX products. the new Tile is coming out soon, I will be buying it and more bulbs.
