Worst mistake of my life buying this router

Nothing but problems, dropped signals, lost WiFi, updates from Linksys that never fix the problems. Basicly it has become a very expensive switch as I use my MUCH cheaper Belkin routers to run my home network. They run flawlessly.

I bought this router to take advantage of my Intel 9560 AC 160 wifi card which utilizes 80+80 Mhz channel width to increase the throughput of internet speeds over wifi. I have a gigabit internet plan that sees 990Mbps down and 40Mbps up via ethernet. Although I was able to establish a stable, full-signal 1.7 Gbps link speed between my device and the router with this technology, the throughput just wasn't there. I would need to be standing 2 feet away from the router to achieve 900 + Mbps speeds, and when I traveled over to the location of my desk (12 ft away), the speeds dropped drastically to 380-400 Mbps. I troubleshot every possible setting, I set up the network so that the only wireless devices that could connect would be my 160Mhz capable devices, so there were no legacy issues, I tried Enabling/disabling MU-MIMO, WMM, QOS, different encryption settings, different firmware versions, and then the most noticeable change, channel selection. The Channel signal would be well within the 35-40 dB level of quality with the full 1.7Gbps signal link established, but the speeds were just atrociously low. I spent over 1.5 hours with technical support and they were barely even aware that the device was even capable of the 160Mhz utilization ( it is only available on certain 5Ghz channels and unless you are on one of the capable channels, the option for 160Mhz channel width isn't available). Honestly, I got better performance from my 3-year-old Netgear R7800 ac2600 Nighthawk x4s. It has better internal hardware and higher throughput.

We were looking for an iPhone 7 plus with 256gb memory and had checked around. Called Best Buy and they had one. We asked them to hold it until we could get there from a neighboring county. They said that they would be glad to hold it for us. We arrived about 2 hours later and purchased the phone. The young lady we worked with as well as her coworker who my son had spoken to on the phone earlier were very friendly and easy to work with. The phone activation was probably the quickest we have experienced. Overall excellent experience!
