Default software advertises the names of the devices on your household so you don't want to run as-is but if you download the OpenWRT open source file from that site you can easily upload it and drastically improve local security over almost every other non-commercial option.

intermittent loss of Internet

From time to time I couldn't connect to the internet on the 2.4m frequency. A router reboot usually corrected the problem. Maybe 3 or 4 reboots so far. Coverage is the same as my EA4500. Had an issue with LG phone not connecting when I would come into range of my home network. The last firmware update seems to have corrected that. Overall, not blown away but happy.
