We bought this for our new home and they are pretty awesome! The cameras have amazing quality and they were easy to install. Unfortunately, one of the cameras came defective but we contacted Lorex and they helped us replace it for a new one.

Only 7 FPS false alerts from trees

We purchased this particular set up because it boasted that it could differentiate between things that emitted heat such as people, animals, vehicles and as such wouldn't give off false alarms from swaying tree branches and the like; but it doesn't. You have to deselect the alarm areas that you don't want monitored to keep the cameras from alerting on trees and swaying plants. Also, there are boasts of 30 frames per second (FPS) which prevents blurring of moving objects however, this is not an option with a 4k system, the highest fps you can get is 15 and its not with this set of cameras, these only get 7 fps. The color and clarity during the day is very good, but even with significant ambient lighting at night from a street lamp, we're still unable to get color images. Our cameras in the front of the house are only 60 feet at most away from the end of our driveway and yet when I pause an image during playback and zoom in on it, while it's not pixelated like a 1080 resolution, it's not sharp and crisp like I was expecting from a 4k system. IF we didn't get this system at half price on a Best Buy black Friday sale, I would have returned it. In conclusion, IF you have very bright ambient lighting, IF you get the better 4k cameras that will record at 15 fps, and IF you're only going out to maybe 30 feet or so Then you might want to consider this system, otherwise I suggest you keep shopping.

These things are the absolute best! They are hard wired in so the set up is a little complicated but luckily we knew what to do. We like how we can set up different zones to send us notifications when there is motion detected but sometimes the motion detection is really sensitive so something like bugs set it off a lot. Also love how we can get on our phones and look at all the live views around our house. Highly recommend these!

I would recommend this Camera system for someone that's trying to just have some cameras upon their house and see what's going on. It's got a great picture functions are is easy to use. But if you're looking for something that is more high and I have to go to a private security company to get the cameras that you would want. But I would recommend this for sure to do-it-yourself system

I am able to get tag numbers with these cameras and was even able to catch a thief. Wahoo! This system only has a 2TB hard drive so at a week it writes over it's self. I suggest a little more storage if you set your cameras to 4K. I do love the app and the ability to see instantly what set off motion. The app will send push notifications to your phone. One drawback is I have had to replace 2 cameras in 7 months due to water somehow getting inside. I purchased my original system in Nov 2019. Lorex's tech support however is stinky but Best Buy's is great. If you purchase the warranty through Best Buy, I definitely suggest it, each time you have a replacement, leaky camera, you have to purchase the warranty over again. Overall I really like this system and its fairly affordable.

Bought this during black friday. Set this system up, then the hard drive failed within 48 hours. Another problem is the cameras were not accessible for viewing from the TV. Called Lorex, and took nearly a month to receive a replacement after they agreed it was faulty hardware. Their support team is quite responsive, but their shipping is very slow. My thoughts on the actual product: Pros: Accessible remotely, good video quality with the 4k cameras. Upgradeable HDD up to 10GB Cons: Loud fans, faulty hardware, tough to set up. Both units I received have the screen issue where the cameras can't be viewed from the TV. No audio.

I purchased this system to go with my Google Assistant and SimplySafe security system. Installation was fairly easy for someone who used to run coax cables for a living, however I found some design flaws that leave a lot to be desired. The connections to the camera and box are 1/2" thick and do not disconnect from the cable so you must drill a large hole into your house to run a what otherwise would be a tiny cable through. Also, with some intuitive engineering I believe you could figure out how to have the power and video feed in one connection instead of two. The app and user friendliness of navigating the menus leave a lot to be desired and the system really does not really sync well with smart home features. I like the ability to edit and control motion areas being monitored but even the smallest of things, like my chickens, set off the sensors. There seems to be no way to limit the motion detection to people like on other systems.

We bought this system for home use. The motion detector works really well! It's also very convenient to have notifications sent to my phone. The only downfall is that notifications can only be sent to one phone.

The cameras and DVR are very good, but the technical support at Lorex leaves a lot to be desired. I'm able to view the cameras on my cell phone and Google Home Hub, but can't view them on my PC. Lorex TS told me to use 3 different programs to view the cameras - none of them worked.

Hard to set up sound don’t work. Alarm is not load. Light on it is worthless. And customer service. Is in India. Good luck with that hard to under stand. And they don’t know about cameras. It seems like there just reading from a trouble shooting book. I do not recommend this product
