Great tablet/computer. I got this when it was on sale for $999 primarily for design since I do custom made cake toppers using Affinity Designer. This laptop meets and exceeds my expectations:) I didn’t want to carry around a laptop around and this is very lightweight and performs as should using these designs programs including Adobe Illustrator. The resolution is far better than my laptop (HP).
I bought the keyboard later down the road and the pen works amazing. I’m glad I’ve made this investment.

I purchased this computer for my wife - she is a nurse and uses it for work. We are very happy with this purchase - from it's ease of use to it's value. The surface pro is very versatile - and has been up for any task that has been thrown it's way! I'm also very happy with the battery life and how quickly it charges.

This Surface Pro 7 is a replacement for my old Surface Pro 2. It's bigger and shinier and faster and bigger inside :-). I especially like that we got the Type Cover. My old one's battery got too tired to recharge and you don't replace those; so it was time for a new one. It gave me 7 years of great service and I'm hoping to get at least the same from this one.
So far it works the same as the old one. My only problem is that it goes to sleep and doesn't want to wake up. I have worked around that by adjusting the settings to not let it go into deep sleep. I haven't tested the battery life yet to see if it lasts all day unplugged.
I really like having the Type Cover both for inputting data and for protecting the glass when in transit. Would highly recommend getting that and it is a nice keyboard as well.

I purchased this to replace a laptop that I was having issues with things loading. So far I love the ease that comes with the Microsoft Surface Pro 7. I haven't done too much on it yet as I am still getting things set up on it. The plan is for this to be the device I use when I am not at home and need to work on school stuff. Purchased as a bundle with the keyboard and then decided to purchase the pen as well. I love having the pen as I do not use a mouse with this and I can use the pen to scroll on webpages and all that. I definitely recommend purchasing a case for the device to give yourself more protection. The only thing I have had so far is that is did freeze up on me once and I had to hold the power button down until it shut down and then restarted it. Have not had the issue again.

I love this computer! I’m in college so I wanted something small but I could carry around with me with no trouble and this is perfect. It does anything I need it to and converts into a tablet if I need to take notes for class! Overall 5/5

Great for me especially as a student!! Compact and ready to go whenever i need it! Battery is so so but gets the job done. Tablet mode is a plus for note taking!! hinge kickstand has been durable and has great viewing angles! Has been with me for almost 2 years so far and operates perfectly as if today!! Cons would have to be that all the accessories are separate if you dont purchase any bundle (keyboard/mouse/stylus etc.)

It is a great tablet, i use it Monday to Saturday for work and it is very practical. Very slick and modern. All my friends and coworkers ask what brand is it, the system is very fast and the colors and all look phenomenal. I really recommend it for work, school or just pure entertainment. 100% recommended.

I'm going to keep this short for I already wrote an extensive explanation to a batch which included the SP 7.
In short, I am too nervous and am beginning to lack the confidence of MS and their ability to roll out bug free updates! I keep coming across articles of the most recent updates that have caused issues for the people who rely, use and buy their products. I would be devastated if this thing does not work well right of the gate after all steps were said and done. It's sad that we pay all this money for a product that can't receive near flawless updates for it's systems!
My two stars are for lack of confidence I have for MS at this time. That is why I might say "Forget it."

After buying into the "Surface Life" with a surplus Surface Pro 2, I was hooked on the Microsoft Surface Pro series. No other device offers the functionality, portability, and power in such a small, light device. While carrying dual core Intel processors for the first 5 generations of devices, it surpassed expectations in productivity and, yes, even gaming in a system that often exceeded the performance of similarly spec'd computers.
I purchased a Surface Pro 6 a short 6 months ago, and the bounce was noticeable. With an i5 boasting 4c/8t performance, even at the "entry level" 128GB system (not counting the m3, which was not worthy of the "Pro" label) and NO FAN (the Pro 6 and 7 i5 models share this trait, as fans in tablets are WRONG) and 8GB of RAM, gaming on a tablet (along with that pesky productivity ability) became a thing.
When the Surface Pro 7 came out a short month ago, it looked like a very minor refresh, with the biggest changes being a USB-C port replacing the miniDP and a two generation jump from the Intel 8th gen to 10th gen graphics...most reviews looked to be accurate with a solid "meh."
Since my wife also wanted a Pro, the time had come to decided upon another 6 or to move to a 7 (don't worry, she got a laptop too...Merry Christmas!). Even with the steep discounts for the Pro 6s, I HATE being behind. The Surface Pro 7 it was...
...and it was the correct choice, indeed. While the 1035G4 didn't appear to be too much of an increase from the 8250 of the Pro 6, in reality, the jump in pure power is exceptional. One wouldn't think so with the drop in base frequency to 1.1 GHz, but the boost speed is greater, and, due to the excellent thermals of the Pros themselves, maintains higher than base clocks the huge majority of the time when under any load. In addition, the overlooked Iris Pro graphics now come close to matching the Nvidia base MX150 graphics in games with 48 ECs vs the 24 ECs in the UHD 620 setup, although the frequency stays the same on both. Guild Wars 2 dailies, Battlefield 4 (4!!!!), Elite Dangerous...not only doable, but fun...in a tablet (NO FAN).
The jump from DDR3 to DDR4 is another update that doesn't look big on paper, but works wonders for the overall device speed.
The USB-C port (no, NOT Thunderbolt 3) is a welcome change from the miniDP port, and the dongle life has never been easier to carry as a result. This change alone easily reduces the dongles required from 5-10 (depending on your needs) to a maximum of 1 the majority of the time (a sweet USB-C hub with the original DP, VGA, HDMI, multiple USB 3 ports and an ethernet port are not hard to find at a reasonable price). Likewise, the charging capabilities through both the Surface Connector and the USB-C port make for an excellent means of always staying charged.
The screen, always a strong suite of the line, remains, as does the awesome removable keyboard; neither required an update. A small color accuracy update would have been great for the screen, but not truly necessary. The pen and Arc mouse remain great, but not necessary accessories (the argument could be made that the Surface isn't truly complete without the Surface Pen, though).
In addition, in one of the truly underrated updates, the WiFi chipset was FINALLY updated to an Intel model from the previously atrocious Marvell chips on the Pro 6 and earlier...and it comes with WiFi 6 for futureproofing. This is a HUGE update, and maintains both speed and connection in a far better manner. We aren't even mentioning the Bluetooth 5 capability.
Audio jack (ahem, Apple), external microSD card slot, the very unappreciated Instant On with Windows Hello functionality, excellent build quality, 1024 levels of touch sensitivity, wonderful stereo speakers, front and rear decent cameras with excellent audio capture for conference calls, literally MILLIONS of tried and true Win32 applications...the benefits go on and on. All in a (FANLESS) tablet. Oh, and Windows 10.
A perfect device, then? Um...no. No LTE option?! We get the awesome Instant On, why can't we also have the Always Connected" option as well? While I'm a personal fan of the bezels (they make it a LOT easier to hold as a tablet), it is a blast from the past for many who are used to seeing the bezels shrinking into the abyss (there's the Surface Pro X for that, although...ARM...for Windows? NOT SOLD...yet). Microsoft...I know Thunderbolt 3 is a battery hog, but you really should have had this included, even as an option on some of the higher SKUs. Speaking of battery life, the firmware definitely needs tweaking (anyone with a Surface knows that this WILL happen), as the battery usage, while understandably higher because of the G4 vs UHD 620, definitely takes a hit compared to the mature 4th - 8th generation firmware and drivers (Intel tick-tock-tock-tocked their way through the last 5 generations on the 14nm process). Microsoft (again), if you are going to call this a 2-in-1, then you should include the keyboard. Enough of this nickel/diming (more like $50/$100-ing) for essential and much desired equipment, like the KEYBOARD. Once you use the Pen, you will not know how you lived without it (the response is almost as good as the Apple Pencil in response time, and the feel is wonderful), but it's $100 as well...with a non-recharging battery?! Why does the Surface PRO (PRO) series NOT INCLUDE WINDOWS PRO?! Which brings us to...
...dat price doe!!!! Although I proudly live the "Surface Life," the cost of entry is truly Apple-esque. "Value" in this case really depends on the user and use cases. If you are looking for a content delivery system, go buy a base iPad or Samsung tablet (or an Amazon Fire if you are one of THOSE PEOPLE). However, the old adage of "the best tool for the job is the one you have with you" remains true, and you will find yourself bringing the less than 2 pounds of a full and powerful Windows device with you everywhere far more often than that 15" (or even 13") laptop that can weigh twice as much with far more plastic involved. This is a system for business users, prosumers, and those who want a jewelry-like Windows tablet that matches and even exceeds (in some ways) the design savoir faire of the fruit people, and has a price to match. The "value" proposition then is not a one-to-one comparison, but a one-to-two or one-to-three comparison (replacing a laptop and a tablet with one device). Even cheap end equipment will add up to the cost of a single Surface Pro 7 on the low i5 end in these cases, and adds up to much more for mid range stuff, like an iPad Pro and an "Ultrabook."
It's also a great content consumption device.
In conclusion, if you want a great, well designed tablet/laptop thing that is easy to carry, easy to pack, has great power and battery life on demand, and just plain works, this is one of the best options on the market, and well worth the price of admission. If you are looking for an update from the Pro 5 or earlier, it's a no-brainer, especially with a ton of trade-in options (right now, Best Buy is guaranteeing $200 or more dollars with a Surface Pro trade in, any generation). If you have a Surface Pro 6 and no pressing need to push your gaming envelope or cut down on the donglage, the Pro 7 is still a great update option, but not one that will move most peoples' meter too much. If you are looking at a new "Ultrabook" or replacement for a productivity laptop, look no further. A great option for every occasion!

Purchased my SP7 (i5, 8ram, 256 ssd) at an open-box discount of over 50% and couldn't be happier with it. Here are some thoughts after about 10 days of use.
The 10th gen i5 processor is fast when opening webpages and apps. Also, handles MS Office and my statistical software with no difficulty.
The battery is great. I get nearly 8 hours of continuous YouTube viewing in tablet mode (50% brightness, Wifi and Bluetooth on, performance mode on balance -best battery life). Don't believe the report of bad battery life.
Although there is no fan, the device does not get hot even numerous webpages are open. It can get warm, but never too hot to touch or hold. The only time it does get "hot" is when you download drives and update Windows during your initial set-up.
The screen is very crisp and bright. Bezels could be a little smaller but that might impact one's ability to hold the device as a tablet.
Build quality is outstanding. The device is solid yet very light and portable.
USB-C port is a nice upgrade that allows me to attach the SP7 to an external monitor.
MicroSD slot allows for easy storage expansion.
Surface connect port attaches with no problem. Like knowing the device won't be knocked over or to the ground if the cord is accidentally pulled or tripped over.
Major negatives are the (1) price - seek out open-box opportunities, (2) screen size - great for travel, but probably not ideal to use as your main work computer, and (3) lack of accessories -no pen or keyboard which are both expansive if you don't get open-box or used from Amazon.
All-in-all, great little portable computer/tablet hybrid, especially if you can get it at a discounted price (use the saving to buy Microsoft's 2-year replacement warranty and some accessories).

TL;DR: The Surface Pro 7 slots perfectly in between touchscreen/2-in-1 laptops like the XPS or Surface Book and tablets like the iPad or Tab
I debated between going for a more laptop-oriented 2-in-1 like the XPS or Surface Book, the Surface Pro in the middle, and the iPad Pro at the tablet-specific extreme. I ended up with the Surface Pro for 2 major reasons: Versatility and weight.
The Surface Pro 7 isn't as light as the iPad/iPad pro, and it's a little more bulky, but it is not uncomfortable to use as a reader either sitting or lying down. I often try to rest it on at least 1 edge/side if I can, but its not a terrible burden for a quick 10-15 minute read standing/unsupported. Certainly I think its more manageable than an XPS with no removable keyboard or the Surface Book.
But if I just wanted a reader, the iPad would clearly be better. However, the Surface Pro 7 is much more versatile. I've already expanded the storage via SDXC, and plan to get a USB-C PD dock for charger/connectivity at my desk. Even with just the Signature Keyboard cover, I have done some serious word processing (Word, LaTeX (via TeXStudio)) and some development in R and Python, none of which would have been as easy on the iPad. Add in the multi-monitor support and attach a keyboard, and the Surface Pro 7 can handle just about anything I would need.
The touchscreen and Surface Pen have been great for writing up notes as I read, thinking through code or math problems, and outlining papers.
Cons: Some programs don't always play nice with the touchscreen/Surface Pen or when in tablet mode. Sometimes it is fixed by a restart, but some is inherent in the program's design.
Can be somewhat tricky to use on your lap in laptop mode, but I found that a cheap case/cover helps with this a ton (now its quite comfortable to use)
The Surface Pro 7 tries to be a jack of all trades in the touchscreen portable device market, and I think it does fairly well for itself. However, it is clearly out-performed as a laptop by something like the XPS or Surface Book, and as a tablet by the iPad. If your use-case falls somewhere in between, then the Surface Pro 7 is great.

Bought this for my wife as a early Mother’s Day gift, got it all setup and she is enjoying it. She is able to access work info that she can’t access from her iPad and she loves the portability, size, and weight. As well as all the other functions that come with it dual cameras, pen and keypad (sold separately) that makes it an ease to type or even sign online documents for her job.

Want to point out that it does NOT come with the keyboard. You have to buy that separately. Otherwise, I am very happy with this laptop. High quality, fast, very lightweight. There is a built in stand, which is very convenient. Picture quality is great. Love that it is a touchscreen. Very easy to set up. Would buy again and definitely recommend.
