Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Wireless Desktop 800 Keyboard and Optical Mouse, frequently praising its ease of use, keyboard quality, and value for the price. Many appreciate the wireless functionality and find the size and weight convenient. While some users noted the absence of a caps lock indicator and occasional lag, these concerns were less prevalent than positive feedback.

    Also Compatible with Latest Linux

I had no problem using this with the latest Ubuntu Linux Release. This is probably due to good software and drivers provided by Microsoft, unlike other brands. Everything worked under Windows and Linux. Windows and Linux will automatically install the driver for you. A system restart is needed in Windows.

The wireless keyboard and mouse are the best things that have happened to computer hardware in a very long time. Now my cat can't chew the wires.....because there are not wires.....Yahoo!

Works fine. I got this at a great sale price. Mouse is comfortable as is the keyboard. If you are looking for a no nonsense wireless keyboard and mouse this is it.

    Like it at close Range

This is a good keyboard for the price. I don't know what is wrong, but I cannot use it past about 2 feet. So if you are going to use it at close range it will be fine, but if you buy it for the range of it don't believe that.

    Poor Quality Mouse

    Posted .

Out of the box, the keyboard is very sleek looking. I like how the buttons don't make much noise when pushed and have a soft cushion feel. The keyboard felt like good quality. I didn't mind that there were no light indicators for when caps lock is on, no space between the number pad and arrow keys, and no media buttons, etc. It's an inexpensive wireless keyboard. The mouse was very disappointing. Since the moment you open the back of it to put in the battery (very awkward way to put the battery in, have to slide it in and make sure it goes into a place), you can feel it is cheaply made. And the scroll wheel would make a hard "snap" every time you scroll it for 5 seconds (going down, not up). I thought maybe I had to use it for a bit and it would go away. Installation was easy, "plug and play", less than a minute or so to install. The keyboard worked fine. The mouse lagged, A LOT. I used this mouse and keyboard for a grand total of 3-4 minutes before deciding to put it away to return it. The keyboard worked great (at least upon first use). The mouse continued to make the funny snapping noise when scrolling and the mouse pointer lagged consistently.

Initially I bought an Insignia wireless keyboard and mouse combo for the same price but there were a few things I didn't like about the keyboard. Also, this MS keyboard combo got higher ratings than the Insignia's and therefore, I decided to exchange it, My mistake! the Insignia keyboard has low profiles (slightly smaller footprint also) keys and it gives much better typing feels (less mushiness). The Insignia mouse and its buttons feel much better in your hand. On the other hand, this MS keyboard has mush feeling keys and the keys have to be depressed much harder and deeper. Although most of buyers get this as a secondary keyboard, however, I think this keyboard doesn't deserve higher ratings than the Insignia's.

I got this on sale for $30, regular price is $40. I got it for my office and it was an easy set up practically plug and play. It does what it is supposed to. The materials used to build the keyboard seem to be of cheap quality BUT it makes it very light weight.

Mac Users - Yes it works!

I picked this keyboard combo up after trying out two different brands of wireless keyboards with my mac mini. The other two kept giving me problems with lag time and connectivity. I seemed to be moving around the usb transmitter more than I was actually using the keyboard. This one works perfectly even though it's not a true mac layout.

    Works Great

My issue started at the store. There was not an MS 800 on display but many stacked in boxes for $20. I've wanted a wireless combo just never got around to it. There are no indicator lights (#lk/cap lk) niceties to have. Calculator button is cool, use that on occasion. Overall no complaints, BUT.........the keyboard frame is glossy, shiny black and reflects nicely. Until you touch. Fingerprint city. Took 409 and cleaned it. Not gonna deal with this every day. It really does look bad. I thought, OK, wash hands before using each time. Not gonna do that either. Sure looks pretty out of the box. Maybe why they don't have one on the shelf to look at after people test it out.

    It's a great keyboard overall

When I bought this, I expected for it to at least have 1 problem and it did. The majority of it was found in it's wireless setup. When turning on the computer, I must use my older, wired keyboard. Therefore making for a longer start up process. Probably because my PC's best days are now behind it. Other than that, It is a very great buy.

I like this but I wish I would have bought a wired set. I don't really need a wireless keyboard/mouse on with my desk top. But there is nothing wrong with the setup.

    Range NOT as advertised.

I do not recommend this mouse and keyboard, the range is maybe 5 FT. NOT 15. and the USB receiver is the size of an average flash drive. The mouse feels cheap, and the keyboard is fingerprint heaven. 2/5 pts.
