When you buy a system you will likely get a discount to buy this and a system together where your starting cost to join live will not be that much. The 14 days of gold service given with the system will not give you games with gold, the rotating free games you can play if your gold subscription is active, that is one of the benefits that comes with Gold. Aside from multiplayer and games with gold there are discounts on games and downloadable content when it comes with Gold Xbox Live service.
