Didn't realize you need a Xbox Live account to do almost everything on the system so instead of putting credit card info in we got the 12 month card and it was easy to load. I'll stick to my PS4 for my gaming needs, can use without paying for a account.

An active Xbox Live Gold membership is only required to play multiplayer games online; otherwise, hundreds of Xbox One games may be enjoyed without it.
