In addition to using your Xbox Live Gold membership to play online multiplayer games, you also get access to new free games every month as well. In fact, you'll get up to $700 worth of games over the course of a year! Not a bad reason to get a year's subscription.

After I put it in my cart, the computer asked me if I wanted XBOX LIVE GOLD 3 month membership for $4.99. (Twenty dollars off). I put it in my cart as an add on. It came up $14.99 in my cart. I took a screen shot of the offer and mentioned it to "Randy" in a live chat after I purchased the XBOX. He was very rude. After the heated discussion, I thought he said he was going to give me the $10.00 credit. He did not. I have had to dispute the entire purchase of the XBOX thru Citibank. The dispute is in progress. I have not made anymore purchases thru Best Buy since then. I am awaiting the decision of the $10.00 credit. Very frustrating.
