I usually get the year membership but this was on sale for 15 buck so it was a good deal.

For the price, you cannot beat the benefits of the Gold Membership. You get free games every month and much more. Being a member also allows for online gaming with your friends plus special discounts on any game purchased in the Xbox marketplace.

Microsoft - Xbox Live 3 Month Gold Membership at a $10 discount is awesome.

I believe that the cards are very useful and easy to apply.

Purchasing XBOX Live Gold is worth it for the free games and deals alone. Aside from this being required to play online with friends or strangers, the 2 free games a month will easily get your money back. On top of that, XBOX One now has backwards compatibility so that you get the free Games with Gold available for both the XBOX One and 360, so 4 free games a month. I would not recommend having an XBOX without Xbox Live.
