To be honest Vizio would have never been my choice 10 years ago as I have always been a Samsung person. However after looking for over a month for the best TV and value the Vizio P series was by far the best out there. The pic is superb and the quality is as good as the Samsung. It came with the tablet remote that I don’t use much. I mainly use my iPhone with the Vizio app to control everything. The steaming video is perfect. It was a little strange that the tv did not have a tuner but after a week you don’t ever care about that. Bottom line is that it’s a great unit with a great pic and a good value!! I love it!!!

Set this up with Blu Ray, Roku 4 and DirecTV. The Roku supplies 4K 10 bit Dolby vision or HDR color as well. Using either the CNET calibration settings or the Vizio calibrated settings, the picture is extremely good. Using the HDR 10 or Dolby vision material from the Roku via Netflix or Amazon, makes regular old 1080p color look washed out. Note that to get 4K HDR 10 or Dolby Vision from Netflix or Amazon, requires at least 25 MB/s internet. As noted on CNET, there is no difference between 4K and 1080p in terms of image clarity at standard viewing differences, only if you walk right up to the screen. Easy to set up and works with my Harmony remote easily. Picture seems as good as my old Pioneer elite TV when that was new - dark blacks, no real artifacts or noise, and sharp pictures. For example, watching the Expanse on Amazon is amazing. The color difference I noted above, is when comparing the Amazon version which is 10 bit color to the Direct TV regular HD color. My original TV had a minor but annoying defect and Vizio exchanged it without too much hassle and their service is good. Lack of a TV tuner is irrelvant for me at least. I don't use the Android tablet, just my ipad, or iphone or Harmony to control it. I was skeptical that Vizio's picture could much Sony or Samsun LEDs at 3x the price, but as the CNET review stated, it is as good as these.

Great unit! Decodes both HDR10 and Dolby 12 bit color. Bright consistent picture from edge to edge with full backlight array. Easy casting from the tablet remote. Can't speak to the sound quality as I send everything through my receiver. All the inputs I need for my complex system. Deep blacks and vivid colors without over saturation. No soap opera effect. Love this unit.

So I picked this P65 at best buy on an open box special. Impressive brightness and colors. 4k hdr and streaming content looks amazing. I would still put vizio a notch below sony due to the upscaling ability of the sony gravias. You cant beat yhe price right now especially around the holidays. Also purchases the geek squqd protection so I know I'm covered if anything goes wrong.

Amazing value on a HDR TV with FALD

I was ready to put down some serious cash on couple of S* brand TVs, however researching AVS forum led me to this TV. I thought initially Vizio to be a cheap Chinese brand TV, but was surprised to find that they are based out of Southern California and all the design is done here in USA. Reading up on the initial reviews made up my decision to purchase this TV set. Walked into Magnolia and saw side by side comparisons with the Sony/Samsung/LG and was blown away. The blacks were amazing .. very close to what I have with my Pioneer Kuro plasma TV. FALD technology with Dolby Vision for such a low price .. my decision was instantly made. Best Buy delivered my TV home and the delivery was top notch. They opened up the box, inspected the TV for damages and asked me if I wanted it set up. Since this was going to be mounted on a TV stand, I chose to just let it stay in the box. Next I mounted the TV and calibrated it according to settings users provided on avs forum. The out-of-box calibrations were good enough on the Calibrated & Calibrated Dark modes. The blacks were amazing. It comes with a Android Tablet remote and you use the 'Cast" technology to stream VUDU/Netflix/YouTube etc. to the TV. I hooked up an ethernet cable to the back of the TV and watched one Vudu UHD movie (Pacific Rim) and I was totally convinced I had made the right decision. 1080p sources from Cable box seem a little softer, so if you watch a lot of cable TV, you might be slightly disappointed in the picture. This set was made for 4K sources and this is very few for now. Hopefully we will have more 4K sources in the coming months. I have been streaming Netflix shows in 4K (Marco Polo, House of Cards) and they look amazing. This is a solid TV and is future proof. It is an amazing value at this price point and I will definitely recommend this TV for anyone who is looking for the latest and greatest in technology.

This is a great TV. People have compared it to OLED TV's with very near perfect black. The price of this TV makes it a such a great deal that it would pain you to buy a TV that is $1000-$2000 more. I also really like the Android Tablet remote that it comes with because you can install multiple applications in one remote, including the Harmony Remote App if you are using the Harmony remote. My one small complaint is that the TV remote cannot control the volume of AV receivers unless you have a newer receiver that has the capability to be controlled through the HDMI cable. Not that big of a deal since I have the Harmony remote app installed on the Vizio tablet that comes with it.

After being bit by the bug to replace my 6 year old 50" Panasonic plasma, I decided to purchase a 65" Vizio P Series display. Vizio has been getting my attention over the years after reading lots of reviews lauding them with high remarks for their performance and value. After having this TV for about a month, I can wholeheartedly agree with those reviews. I'm impressed with how it performs, no matter what I throw at it. Cable programs from FIOS look great! Sports are a joy to watch! The P65 especially likes streaming content from Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and my Plex media server. My wife and I loved watching all of Netflix's Stranger Things in 4K. Last night, I streamed the 4K HDR version of Star Trek Beyond from VUDU and it was spectacular! I use the included Android tablet for casting most of my content to the display, and I like it very much. I've even turned the tablet into a remote control for my Roku using it's respective app allowing me to eliminate another remote control. Just as a note, I use my Roku to view content from Amazon Prime Video and stream from my Plex Media Server. I feel that the Roku handles buffering of my high bit rate content from my media server just a little better than the built in Chromecast. The Amazon Prime Video app is not available on Chromecast. My PS4 with the latest firmware update recognized the P65's HDR capabilities without any problems. The Last of Us Remastered looks even more amazing! I also feel that the display up scales lower resolution content very well. The key to all of this excellent picture quality is its ability to produce extremely deep black levels without any light bleed or obscuring any shadows and highlights. This display outperforms my old plasma by a long shot! I know OLEDs can produce better blacks, but I am not prepared to pay up to 3 times more than what I paid for the P65. I also felt that the picture looked great, out of the box, using the "Calibrated" and "Calibrated Dark" settings with only some minor adjustments to the Motion Judder and Smoothing settings per my preference. I feel that I got the most bang with this purchase. This is one of the best electronics purchases I've ever made. No buyer's remorse here!

I have had the set for a little over a month now and it's the closest thing to my Plasma I've seen short of OLED. I initially got the go ahead from the wife to get a new set and started off with a Sony 850C. This was before the P Series was announced. Bad choice, returned for a Samsung JS8500. This set was $500 more at the time and when I received it the P was announced. Liked it but there was some light bleeding on the edges and the guy at BB was very helpful. We set up a swap for the P. This is where the Full array comes in on the Vizio. In a word, EXCELLENT. No bleeding or blooming at all. Blacks are great. If you go to Rtings.com they rate this on par with the new 2016 Samsung's that are significantly more expensive than the Vizio. Think about that for a moment and then decide if the name is worth it to you. Nice sets to be sure, better looking aesthetically and they have a built in tuner, which to me is a non issue in this day and age of cable. As others have stated , it has Dolby Vision with an HDR update not too far off . So, do some research and make an informed decision. If you watch movies at night in the dark, this should definitely be on your shortlist.

Best TV for the money, hands down

If you are looking for a 65 inch HDR 4K capable TV that can play both HDR formats and have a budget of less than $3,500, I believe this is the best TV you can buy. The black levels are unreal, streaming 4K content from Netflix looks great (haven't tried a 4K Blu ray player), and the motion is silky smooth in sports, movies, and video games (the HDMI 5 port is a high speed gaming port with minimal lag). The downside for this TV is that it's a little thicker than the latest from Samsung, etc., but that's because this TV features an arguably better full array local dimming backlight system whereas the slim TVs use edge lit technology that produce uneven backlighting across the screen. My preference after using both is to have the thicker TV with FALD instead of the thinner edge lit. In my opinion, the only TV that is better enough than this TV to justify its higher price is the latest OLED LG TVs, but those cost $4,999. To me, the difference in picture quality is not even close to $3,000. To each their own though, it is a fantastic TV. Overall, I'm extremely happy and pleasantly surprised by this TV. Even my wife who is a brand snob and refused to look at anything but Samsung TVs in the past admitted this is a much better TV than the Samsung it replaced (granted, it's a few years old now and wasn't there highest end model). Long story short, this is the best TV for the money if you're budget is less than $3,500 (in my opinion).

Pros: - The deep blacks, local dimming and vivid colors on this TV provides great images. I'm also an owner of the Sony 930C (XBR65X930C) and the P65 is sharp and offers a lot of features for a great price. - Easy to setup and the Android Tablet makes it fun to use. Cons: - Consistently using the Tablet as a remote can be annoying overtime. - The TV is to be handle with great care considering the very thin edges. Maybe bad luck but packaging of this TV is poor, I received two failed screens (Vertical lines). Please inspect every aspect of the TV upon arrival.

After careful consideration I decided on this product and have waited @6 months to review.. There are no comparisons at this particular price point based on what this product offers.. the simple fact that you get both dolby vision and hdr 10 support knocks about 95% of the market out of the picture!! And the picture here is really fantastic.. quality is right up there with those tv's that literally cost 2 to 3 k more! And with this price drop, you would be foolish to at least not consider it!! The biggest issue that I can find that may be a problem to some is the idea of casting everything to the monitor. It's a relatively new way of streaming to a "smart tv".. I love it! And have been mirroring and casting even before this purchase. But I can see how this small learning curve maybe frustrating for some.. they're have been a few times when staying connected while casting has been problematic but not to the point where it has diminished the enjoyment of my television watching. Do your research, the idea of casting is truly going to become the standard. It's here and not going anywhere. It will only become more recognizable and dependable. If you have not experienced dolby vision yet, you are in for a treat. It is truly mesmerizing. I have watched content that I truly had no interest in simply because I could not turn away from the picture and detail presented by this set. Or I should say, monitor... In any case this is the first purchase I have ever made where six months later the price dropped significantly and I had no remorse ! In fact if I had it to do over again I would not have dragged my feet and pulled the trigger the day it was available!!!! On a side note , I am a xbox gamer as well and the experience for me has changed the way I play .. I will never go back to anything less that a 50-65 inch display.. I had no idea what I was missing. And the p series is absolutely stunning In online play!! If you are concerned about the lack of remote or the tablet casting system I get it..and it may not be the system for you..but if you can handle the slight learning curve don't hesitate!! Eventually it will be the operating standard for most mid to high end entertainment solutions such as this one..

The best 4K display there is. All the reviews I must agree with even CNET said that VIZIO P65-C1 is the best in class for the price and a absolute steal. I can't say enough about the color quality of this Display and the actual colors that this display produces. Remember this is not a television The P65-C1 has no tuner. The black levels on the Display are as deep as OLED or so close my eyes can't tell the difference. It's absolutely astonishing to watch live TV sports, Tivo recorded videos, and movies and 4K demos on YouTube. My ONKYO receiver up converts so even most of the 1080P stuff looks even better on this display. And to top all this off it comes with these little standard remote and also a android-based tablet. You can use the tablet and load say Netflix and watch 4K movies or you can jump over to YouTube and watch all the 4K demos. The tablet is a pure android tablet so all android programs or applications run on it just fine. The only thing that I can't find is a android-based Apple TV remote for the new AppleTV4 but that's not what this review is about. With all the HDR circuitry produces superior color capability of this display makes it even better than most. Visio Smart cast and Google cast is built-in, it also has Dolby vision support and it also has Adobe ultra color spectrum support and of course it's an ultra HD display. And the most important thing it uses a 10 bit color panel.

This set can get very bright, especially when the bright highlights fill the screen. Because of it's full array local dimming, where individual dimming zones could turn off for dark areas of the picture, this tv can achieve plasma tv quality black levels. The contrast is amazing and in my opinion, the most important part of a good picture. Don't fall for other tvs claims of huge brightness because those tvs often fail at the black level component. So, often times, dark scenes could look washed out and gray. Excellent tv!

Please Do your research before buying you new 4k TV! This Vizio is a premium Ultra-HD 4k set and has 5 key features: - Full array backlit display (not edge-lit) with 128 zones of local dimming, which gives deep deep blacks. - Two types of HDR support - HDR10 & Dolby Vision - Wide Color Gamut - 10-bit display - VA panel, not IPS Don't be fooled by other name brands and assuming they're better. Other brands in this price range may have one or two of these features, but not all. And only having only some premium features at this price point is a waste of your hard earned dollars. You'll have to spend at least another $1000 to get comparable features. Do your research and buy informed. It's a beautiful TV and won't dissappoint.

The Vizio P series is an incredible tv. The black levels on this tv are insanely black. The local dimming on this Tv works very well with 0 blooming or light bleed even in a pitch black room with no lights on making HDR look awesome. Motion handeling also works flawlessly on blu rays. Non 4K blu rays on this thing look amazing too. The set can also get very bright with the full array backlight. An overall amazing 4K HDR Tv.

    Dead on Arrival

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This review will be from my initial thoughts on the P65-C1. My unit arrived dead on arrival, however once I get a replacement, I will update the review. I decided to get the P65-C1 for the following reasons: 65", 4K, HDR (DV + HDR10), Full-Array Backlighting, Price. I was juggling between the KS9800 65" when that releases and this unit, however decided that the $2,500+ extra dollars would not be worth the Samsung. Not to mention that Samsung is not supporting DV which was a huge bummer to me since I watch a lot of Netflix. I want to make it clear that I am not your typical consumer. I spent a great deal of time looking into the specifications and small details of many TVs instead of "what looks best at Bestbuy" before deciding on the P65-C1. Considering everything, the Vizio P65-C1 was the clear choice for performance / price. The unit arrived in your typical TV box. Styrofoam cutouts and wrapped in an anti static sleeve. The unit had adhesive plastic around the metal bezel to protect against scratches. A few spots of my plastic had some scratches so it definitely was useful in protecting the unit. The metal underneath was unscathed. Besides the unit and metal feet, there were two boxes. The larger one included the tablet remote and wireless charging stand. The second flatter box contained all the accessories to include IR remote, batteries, manual, screws for the feet, and a HDMI cable. My unit's exterior arrived flawless. There were no cracks, scratches, stains, ect. The screen was perfectly aligned with the frame and it sat level on the ground. The exterior of the unit is metal and in my opinion it definitely has a premium look to it when compared to other Vizio sets. I still think other brands have a slightly more premium look, however this is a huge step up for Vizio and I greatly appreciated it. The P65-C1 is not the slimmest TV you will see, however that is because of the full-array backlighting, which I would take any day before having a slim TV. It is slimmer than a 2009 47" LCD Vizio I have so its not THICK... just not paper thin like you will see with a lot of TVs at Bestbuy. The tablet remote feels a bit cheap, especially when comparing it to my iPhone. Nothing on it is metal and it has the feel of cheap plastic. There is a power button on the top-left and a volume rocker on the left side. If you decide to charge it via cable instead of the wireless charging stand, that port is located on the rear-right. The screen is sharp and looks good. When comparing it to my iPhone 6S, the white seemed slightly yellow and the brightness peaked off to about 80% of the iPhone. The tablet was snappy and responsive and digitally, it felt like your average Android tablet. I was actually happy with how responsive it was. The IR remote they included is also plastic but feels more sturdy than the tablet. It is very basic but has all the essentials (play/pause, volume, channel, input, power) that I could see myself actually using it more often than the tablet. The first major issue was internally, my TV arrived with a LOT of issues. First off, the obvious. As you can see from the included images, there were major issues with the screen. From the moment I powered on the unit for the first time, it displayed wavy lines all over the place and began stretching objects from one side to another. Switching away from the welcome screen to a HDMI input, there was streaking down the top-right side of the screen. I imagine there is a hardware issue with the actual computer within the TV along with a panel issue. No matter what input I put it on, there are different artifacts that show up. Unfortunately, I can only upload two images to show you but they ranged from streaking lines (seen in image), dark black spots in the middle of the screen, pulsing wavy lines that smeared the entire screen (seen in image), large horizontal grey smudges, ect. All in all the screen was completely unusable. Switching between inputs, changing volume, ect with the IR remote showed no issues and everything was snappy and responsive on that end. The second issue was connecting the tablet to the TV. After spending a few hours trying to get it to work, I am content to believe there is a computer issue within the TV that is causing some of the artifacts I am seeing along with preventing me to FULLY connect the tablet. I even tried downloading the iOS app and connecting that way. I got through the connection, WIFI setup, and other random screens before "connection has been lost" at the update screen. Once that happens its like the whole process gets reverted and nothing is connected. I was hoping to update the TV to see if a newly pushed patch would correct any issues, but since I was unable to connect neither the tablet or my iPhone, this obviously never happened. Let me be specific here, the actual connection of the tablet with the TV is extremely simple. All you do is hold up the tablet to the lower right side of the TV and within seconds you are connected. The issue is fully connecting both devices through the setup process and having everything saved and stored. I really hope that this is not a common issue and is just because my unit is defective. Hopefully when I get my next unit, set up is a breeze. I understand that I probably got a bad unit and that my replacement will be good to go, however it is a bit discomforting getting a brand new TV and having it arrive like this. Especially since a lot of people view Vizio with lower quality products. I can't help but think that if I had gone with the Samsung, this would have not happened. Hopefully my second unit arrives and is flawless. I will update my review then. I gave the P65-C1: 2/5 stars as of now since its basically completely broken and useless. The 2 stars are for the exterior look, the innovative tablet remote, and price. I would recommend this unit to someone since its probably an isolated incident and the majority of the units are flawless.

I have always had good luck with Vizio TV's. This new 65" is great. Picture is crisp, lines are smooth, black is deep black. I waited for the P series to come out at the advice of a third party review site. I'm glad I did as it included HDR and a tablet along with a slim remote. Set up was a breeze. All apps, including ChromeCast work flawlessly. Would and will be buying Vizio products again.

The 2016 Vizio P series is an outstanding performer! After returning the SONY 900C due to the back light bleed issue, and reading tons of reviews on the VIZIO P series I pulled the trigger on it, and I could not be happier. Coming from Plasma I needed something that would perform in a dark room, and Vizio does that without a problem - from watching Stranger Things on NETFLIX in the dark or The Martian/LUCY 4K the black levels are super inky, not OLED but the next best thing. The only issues I have with the Vizio is the tablet remote. This thing can be frustrating at times losing sync, and needed to be reset. Luckily I have the display hard wired to Ethernet so I don't drop connection that often but it does happen, and the tablet does take some effect when trying to dial in picture setting. Also I did read on Rting.com if you have a bright room the the Samsung KS8000 might perform a little better for you, but I have mine in my Man Cave and the Vizio is better Dark Room/Videogame performer, and I use mine for those two things mainly.

This television readily outperforms the two year old plasma (a Panasonic VT60) it replaced in my primary viewing location. Its superior brightness and excellent blacks make for a better picture in all lighting conditions. While better displays may exist for some, I've yet to see an offering with a comparable feature set (4K, HDR) and picture quality close to this price point.
