Moto 360 Run... Not Sport

I have had the Moto 360 for a couple weeks now and so far it has been good.
Bottom Line up front: Sycning, smart watch features, and running (Both HR and GPS) outdoors are very good and work well, the hybrid screen is also very effective. Battery life, activity tracker, stand alone music, music control (spotify), and HR Monitor are solid. Lack of athletic options and calorie tracking is weak.
I chose the Moto 360 after a failed attempt at the TomTom Spark Cardio Music and the discomfort from the Microsoft Band 2. The Bluetooth and stand alone music works well. Spotty at times but they have never really had any issues with my beats BT headphones. If I use the GPS with the music for a run the watch usually restarts at the end of the run and I will loose some of my activity tracking..... I pause the music before I end the run and that seems to avoid the issue.
The calories burned also is completely off most of the time. I went for a two mile run and burned over 8,000 calories. As much as I would like that to be true, it is safe to assume that the calorie tracking is horribly off. Even on a typical day I don't go for a run or workout it still says I have burned over 3,000 calories. I am an old fatbody now and probably don't burn that many calories walking around for my 7,000-10,000 steps....
I don't have as much trouble with the HR as described in other reviews. Only when I do interval training is the HR monitor a little wonky. I have found that if the watch is on too tight though the HR will read poorly. Otherwise I think the readings are fairly accurate especially for a built in HR monitor.
The activity tracker is also a little stingy. It won't pick up steps when I am pushing a grocery cart or holding my kid or bags with the hand that has the watch.
As the title suggest though and other reviews have pointed out, this is only good for going for a run outdoors and not really worth much else to include interval training, running on a treadmill, cycling, or lifting weights. The smart watch features work phenomenally well though... This watch is more smartwatch then sport watch so keep that in mind when considering this product.
I would like to see this product improve with warmup and cool down portion to the activity and to expand their workouts that are supported to help with interval training and running on a treadmill if it is only going to stick with working well with running.
This product doesn't do sleep tracking so I charge it every night. The battery will easily last all day even with me constantly messing around with a new toy and running with it. The charging station is the absolute best way to charge any smartwatch.
Spotify doesn't do stand alone playback on the watch, you have to be tethered to your phone, which sucks. But the watch can store purchased music or if you use google playback that works well.
All in all the watch is good, I hope to see improvements with the athletic side but the andriod wear is awesme and google is an awesome piece of this too.

Have owned for 15 months. Bottom of screen is turning completely white. Watch is now trash and out of warranty by 3 months. Told it was a software issue... oh well so long Android Wear, I doubt I'll be back.

A great fusion of fitness and smartwatch

I've used the the 1st Generation Moto 360 for quite some time and bought this mostly for running.
I've found the watch GPS to be leaps and bounds better than my phone GPS. I'm in New York, so the tall buildings and interference tend to make GPS a little inaccurate. For instance, my phone will tend to over-count distance since the GPS will jump around a bit trying to reacquire position. This watch found a signal within 20 seconds (after the first time, since the first time you turn it on in a new area, it takes a little while for initial GPS acquisition, but not more than a minute) and never lost the signal throughout the run, even when running under bridges or scaffolding. The Moto Body app on the phone does a great job of storing all this information in a way you can review later, including route, pace, distance, etc. My only criticism is I wish it would sync with RunKeeper, because I have loads of data there from when I used to use my phone, and I would love to continue using it.
The other nice thing is that the heart rate monitor appears to be accurately tracking my heart rate continuously during runs. I'm surprised because the heart rate monitor on the 1st generation Moto 360 was terrible. I had to be absolutely still for it take a reading and it still wasn't always accurate. This Moto 360 Sport heart rate monitor is way better.
The wireless music storage is also nice, and 4 GB is actually plenty for me. I have a playlist that I use for half marathons and have plenty of room for that as well as two other playlists for other activities, and I still have a lot of room left. My concern is that transferring music from Google Play to the watch is sometimes hit or miss. If you buy all your music from Google, then you won't have any issues. But I've found that if you buy mp3's from other sources, sometimes it will sync with Google Play, and sometime it won't. I have know idea which ones do and which don't, so I don't know why it does that, but I suspect it has something to do with the DRM used in the music you purchase. If anyone has a solution to this, please let me know. Unfortunately, the only way I know of to sync music to the watch is via Google Play.
Otherwise, once the music is on, it works great with my Bluetooth headphones.
Now I can go running outside with just my watch and track GPS distance, pace, time, heart rate and have my playlists available!
My only final criticism is that I wish the bands were replaceable with non-silicone rubber, for use when I'm not running. I love the watch for all it's notifications and Android Wear functionality, but I don't want to wear it to work because it's just doesn't seem appropriate. It looks like a fitness watch, which of course it is.
If there was a way to change out the band to use a regular Moto 360 leather or metal band, that would be great. I'd love to be able to quick switch this between runs and work events. For the time being, I only use the Moto 360 Sport for the gym, running and during the weekends, keeping my Pebble Time Round with a steel band for work and work events.
Either way, it's great for runners and fitness buffs, but it's tough to use this for more formal events even though the functionality is there.

Smart watch with the look of a regular digital

This watch is awesome. If you want a smart watch but want the passive look of a regular sport watch this is for you.
People keep complaining about the battery being only 300. Everyone should know it lasts me a solid 15+ hours of regular use and I charge it at night.
This includes a 2 hour gym session which included a 2 mile run.
It does have a GPS and it works great. As long as you just turn it on when you run and turn it off when you finish youll have no worries. The only negative I have for this watch is the software which I'm sure will be updated with time. The moto body app on the watch is outstanding but it only really monitors runs on its own. If you go lift at the gym or something along those lines you'll need to use a app on your phone to assist you. For example Google fit.
But if your at the gym having your phone close is probably already occurring so what's the big deal. Overall it's a great watch and a awesome product. If your worried about the band breaking buy the additional warranty. Some of these reviews make me wonder if they did the research before buying it. The only thing I cant talk about is the Bluetooth music because I still use my ipod.
Buy the watch you won't regret it.

Best sport Android Wear Watch

If you're into working out and to have a device with you that tracks every workout you do, this is the best one out yet. GPS, Moto app, battery could be better but, you have to consider, this watch has its own GPS so it will heat your battery emensely. But like I said, the best Android Wear Watch out right now.

First smartwatch, pretty impressed

So I got this watch to pair with my Moto X Pure and I must say I am so far impressed. The coolest thing that got me was the Turn by Turn directions when i loaded the Maps app on my phone all directions were displayed on my wrist in real time which was amazing when i was driving as i do not have a cell phone mount it felt great to comfortably look at my wrist to see where my next turn was. The voice feature is pretty cool, i didnt know how useful it was until i was walking to my car this morning with my hands full. I was able to see my message with a turn of my wrist and replied simply by talking. The band is sooo soft and comfortable for all day wear but does attract alot of lint, nothing a quick wipe down wont fix. 299.99 is way to much for this watch, but the 199.99 seems about right which is what i payed since it was on sale. If your looking for a first time smart watch i would definitely reccomend this one. Even if you don't like it simply return it nuff said. Haha

Way better than I expected

I've had this watch for a week so I've already had some time to truly think about the features and accuracy of this watch. I'm in the Army and do unit pt everyday so I wanted a gps watch to track my time/pace running and rucking along with how many calories I've burnt throughout the day.
Let me tell you this watch is spot on! I compare the pace and length with my friends gps watches and they're the same. The gps feature takes about 5 seconds to lock on when I'm outside, which isn't long. The battery life is better than I expected with a watch with gps. I use gps for 30 min of running at 5am and still have juice left around 9pm. One of the best features of the watch is actually being able to read the screen in the middle of the day. The screen turns into an e-ink like display and is perfectly readable in the sun.
My cons against the watch would be the dust magnet the silicone strap is but with time that slowly goes away, so it's not that big of a deal.
If you're on the fence with this watch, buy it. You won't be disappointed. I was comparing this watch and the Garmin Vivoactive. I'm glad I went this route. I wouldn't even waste your time with more limited functionality gps watches like the Fitbit Surge.

First impressions were pretty good. Got it, charged it, set it up with my phone, selected a watch face -- good so far. Within 4 hours, the temperature stopped displaying. The error message instructed me to check that my phone location services were on. They were. The support website says to try power cycling the watch first then try resetting to factory settings, then re-install the android wear software on the phone. Tried them all at least 3 times without fixing anything. It would work for a short time but always stop. So, I gave up on the temperature displaying watch face. Then right after the return period was up, the vibration stopped working for alarms and for notifications. Then in a couple more days notifications just stopped going through.
When I decided it wasn't worth all this trouble, I contacted Motorola customer service. They will not process a refund since I didn't buy it through Motorola. They told me to return it to Best Buy. However, Best Buy says that due to the terms of their contract with Motorola, Best Buy cannot process a return, exchange, repair, store credit, or help in any way. So my advice is to stay away from this watch and anything that would require you to contact Motorola customer service.

Good at most things, terrible for music playback

The product did most things a smartwatch is supposed to do. Notifications in a timely manner, allowed me to keep my phone in my pocket a lot of the time, and was very comfortable to wear.
There were two main reasons i purchased this product through and neither of those lived up to my expectation.
The first was that it had GPS. It did OK on this. I did a run on a route I have done many times and it was .1-.2 miles off. I realize a single test is not totally sufficient in this area; however it is worth mentioning.
The second reason I purchased it was to listen to music while I ran. The process of loading music and pairing my headphones (Jaybird Freedom Sprint) was good. Playing the music was another story. It was unlistenably choppy unless i held my hands in front of my body. The bluetooth connectivity to the headphones was terrible.
