I initially wanted to build my own PC, but I ended up spending too much time trying to get my hands on a 3000 series graphics card that all other generations of GPU's doubled before my eyes. That left me with very little options in my eyes in getting a gaming computer put together. Enter the Codex R. Now, when I found this build I was very hesitant to consider purchasing it because of the reputation of prebuilt PC's and some of the reviews that have been posted here and other sites. However, I figured I could return it if something went wrong and for $1100 with the sale that was on this computer I decided to just try it out. I'm really happy I did because this computer is definitely worth the money that I spent on it. After putting all of the individual parts on PCPartpicker the total value was roughly $1000-1100 and that does not include the value of the keyboard and mouse (good quality - not the best but more than serviceable), not including assembly. So far I have played DOOM Eternal on Ultra Settings (1080p) and have gotten a stable 144 fps the entire time I have played. The game looks absolutely fantastic. I get 144 fps in Forza Horizon 4 on Ultra, 60-90 fps in Cyberpunk on High/Ultra with DLSS on. In fact, this computer is more than capable of even more performance in games if it had a better GPU! The 2060 is more than enough for me to enjoy gaming, but it is technically a bottleneck to the CPU which is never in more than 30% use in these games. Another additional bonus is that the motherboard's WIFI chipset is WIFI-6, which makes this machine by far the fastest when connecting to the internet in my house. It has been a massive upgrade in terms of download speeds for games, programs, anything. Definitely a plus for someone who doesn't have access to LAN in the room in which they use this thing. Last pro - RAM was actually installed in dual channel mode and XMP was already enabled in BIOS at first boot. The only real downsides to this computer are that the SSD is rather small, if you play a lot of games you will fill it up and feel the computer slow down its load times because of the lack of space. The power supply is pretty weak in terms of future upgrades - it definitely works for this configuration, but if you want to overclock or really push this computer I would recommend upgrading it to at least 600 watts. Overall, I am very pleasantly surprised by this computer and the experience that I have had so far with it. I would definitely recommend it to someone who is looking to upgrade from console gaming (like me from my PS4) and either cannot find parts right now for their own build, or are not comfortable attempting one. I will update my review if I start to experience any issues like other reviewers have noted.

This is my first gaming computer. It stands up to most of the games I have for it. Borderlands 3, mechwarrior 5, an battlefront 2) I do have some qualms with it. It definitely needs more storage but that’s a simple remedy, the RGB/mysticlight is set to rainbow and not changeable or able to be turned off. (But that could just be user error), I’m pretty sure they skimped out on the motherboard cuz I can’t find the model number or name, the key board an mouse they send with it are pretty good they’ll get the job done.

We were so excited to gift this computer for Christmas, and our son was so excited to receive it! Obviously it is a significant purchase so we had high expectations of it. It seems to play well, when it doesn't crash. We've only had it a week and it crashes so frequently! About once during each use. While in the middle of something, sometimes with just one webpage open and nothing else running, it will just go to a blue screen with an error message, say that it needs to restart, but then the screen goes black and it never restarts. What is up with this? We've only had this for a week and it's been consistently like this. I've been on hold with Best Buy for an hour now. Not sure how to resolve this issue! The attached picture shows an error of "Memory Management," although I think I've seen it say different things at other times. UPDATE: I finally got through hold and the Best Buy agent was really helpful in listening to the situation and ultimately suggested we have it replaced. It's really discouraging to go through this process, but it's really nice to have supportive attention and resolution once you are able to get through to someone. Really hope we won't have this issue again.

The reason I didn't give it a 5 stars because I had to replace the SSD to actually make it stop crashing, but other than it's great and fast

Had the product for 2 weeks. Became slower when adding a extra hard drive. Great for streaming, not so good for gaming.

Upgraded my setup since its so hard to find a GPU at a decent price. Got this desktop on sale for $250 off. The first one I got kept blue screening on me, at least once a day for 3 weeks. Brought it back in for an exchange and the new unit hasn't given me any problems. Don't know what the root cause was with the original, but I would have hoped that they tested out their rigs before shipping them off to their customers. Best Buy made it easy to exchange, I just had to wait for the new one to ship since they didn't have on in store.

My 16 year old son loves this system. He says his game play is very smooth. Downloads games pretty quickly. Even the keyboard and mouse are great quality.

12 year old son loves it. It's been over a month and the PC is running like a champ. I was a bit worried purchasing it due to the amount of negative reviews but so far so good. The only thing I noticed right away is needing to upgrade the SSD memory for extra space. I highly recommend this Gaming PC.

I got this desktop a week ago and since getting it, everyday I have had it crash 1x to 2x a day. I have had many “unexpected store exception” errors and “memory management” errors. Very upsetting...

The computer I received has crashed 4 times and BestBuy has left me on hold the past 4 times I've called. Would like to get a replacement or a different one.

Had some technical issues (which included several bsod), but I reinstalled windows and it works great.

Bought this for xmas, came a little late, but overall everything its working great, my son love it.

Repeatedly crashes (blue screen) when playing games. Sent to MSI—they said the RAM was the problem but were unable to replace it with the same product and therefore let me get an ‘exchange’. Since there are no desktops of equal specs in stock right now, all I have is store credit and no desktop. If you have one that crashes, I recommend trying to replace the RAM on your own dime.

i got a defect the first time and finally received my new one after like 3 weeks. But so far so good!

Runs great no problems at all. Games run fine and look great.
