Replaced a very outdated (though still functional) airport. With all the added devices over the years and more time recently sharing bandwidth, it just wasn’t keeping up. So far the Nighthawk X6S AC4000 has been a very pleasant upgrade. Connected to our Spectrum provided cable modem. Solid, full speed coverage throughout the entire house now (~2000 sq ft), even for our previous dead zones and outside areas that weren’t reached before. Not sure setup could have been easier. Downloaded the app, followed the instructions and in about 10 minutes was up and running. Used the same network name/password and all devices connected without issue. Love being able to monitor and control the router from the app. And the included, built in device protection is a nice add on feature. It’s only been a couple weeks but so far no drops, no reboots, all good and a hugely improved signal for all the gaming, streaming, working at home needs.

I was in need of an upgrade from an aging ASUS router that was constantly dropping WiFi or my GIGABIT connection (issue was later discovered to be Xfinity XB6). Plus who DOESN'T like to upgrade, right?! :-) I have used almost every brand of router on the market. I have purchased Netgear in the past and have had good luck with them. This one in particular came as a recommendation from a Best Buy associate. I have a lot of devices using the internet via wireless and wired connections. My ethernet cables are all CAT6 24AWG Shielded High Performance (Shielded Twisted Pair). I am also using 10/100/1000 Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet Switches. Wireless performance is everything I expected it to be. I adjusted the antennas after using a WiFi app on my iPhone 11Pro Max called Wi-FiSweetSpots. I was able to walk around my entire home while using the app and analyze and figure where I needed to place the router (centered as closely as possible to my house/property). In this house with 3 boys, we have a few wireless devices going on an almost all day schedule (especially with school out because of COVID-19). 3 4K ROKU TV Sticks going, A Nintendo Switch (and Switch Lite), iPads and a TAB S4 tablet, 2 iPhones, 6 Alexa devices, 5 KASA smart plugs, 2 Google NEST thermostats, and Google minis to name a few. We never have an issue with dropouts or speed on any of these devices. I average killer speeds on my iPhone 11Pro Max 609 Mbps down and 37 Mbps down (those speeds are when most online devices are not in use). This router manages our wireless devices correctly and spreads the bandwidth accordingly. Wired connection speed tests (connected to my Netgear CM1150V-100 modem via Xfinity) averages 940-952 Mbps down and 40-43 Mbps up. The user interface is clean and easily understandable. Netgear user forums are also informative if you don't quite understand the setup. At any given time when I look at my router, I can have 30 devices combined using the network (PS4's, XBOX One X and so on) and this router has been solid since I purchased and installed it on 27 February 2020. I recommend this model after my user experience has been positive. I purchased it for $249.99 (did not purchase the extended warranty).

I needed better WIFI then what spectrum could give me so I went out and bought Netgear-Nighthawk X6s AC 4000 Tri-band and so happy I did. It does everything it’s suppose to do & more. The speed is so much faster and I can go anywhere in my 2100 sq ft home, out on the back deck or in my front yard and still pick up WiFi with out any problems. It’s so frustrating when you are in the middle of something and WiFi is in and out but Night Hawk can handle the job and more. It really doesn’t take much space. Mine is sitting right behind my TV out of the way but close if I need to get to it.

I needed to upgrade my home router. It had been over 5 years since I had last replaced my router. I purchased the Nighthawk X65 Router at Best Buy on recommendation from their specialist at the store. It has been an outstanding application for us in our home ever since. We have a multi-generation household with multiple televisions, multiple computing devices, multiple game devices, and multiple cell phones all sharing this device. Our house is a 2 story structure, and we have no difficulty with access from anywhere in the house.

I have been a Netgear fan for over 10 years. I bought this router to replace the original Nethawk 8000 (no "p"). Firmware horrible, you will be waiting for months for patches to common security breaches, if any. Powerful? 6 alien looking antennas can't even move signal 20 feet. I have a multi level home, 2700 sqft. It is installed right next to my gigabit Xfinity Xfi cable modem, speed to my gaming laptop on the front door/main level desk: 130Mbps - 190 Mbps. I even bought an external Netgear usb 3.0 external wifi card and extended it away from my laptop and wall closer to the signal... Plugged in Gigabit directly to Netgear R8000p, mid 800 Mbps if lucky. Router restarts are a must every week if not more. It doesn't know how to clear/garbage collect it's own firmware memory, so your speed will go down steadily, steadily until you are forced to restart/power reset the router. The install is on level 2 of my house, main usage is on level 1, distance is (over estimated) 20 feet northeast (if back of router is north). Never will ever buy fro this company again. Never. 250+ dollars, garbage.

This wireless router was easy to set up and has a great wireless app interface to use. The firewall built in to this is great as well. You can be completely hands off with it or if you are tech savvy you can dive in and make the network changes you need run you own network settings.

Worked great up until the 1.4.1.50 firmware upgrade. At that point the router began locking up frequently and unable to upgrade or downgrade firmware. Have determined that this is a common issue with this firmware version. Only way to resolve is to purchase support if outside of 90 day window from Netgear. We are just over one month past our warranty window. $300 paper weight. Will not purchase Netgear again. As a seasoned IT veteran, this type of support is abhorrent.

This router replaces another Netgear router in the same series at about the same price point and the router absolutely rocks, producing fast, reliable WiFi. It’s predecessor failed after 18 months so I guess I’m a glutton for punishment. That said the Best Buy rep stated it was very reliable router so I decided to give this one a try. Ask me in 2 years if I still love it. If it lasts more than 3 years I’ll be thrilled.

I highly recommend the Nighthawk X6S! It is truly a modern marvel for your living room and continues to deliver above and beyond my expectations. Users posting negative and/or critical reviews don't understand how to harness the power. As an owner now for near 4 months, I consistently enjoy blazing fast internet speeds at any location within my 2800 square foot house. It has never one cut out as some suggest. I suspect some users don't know how to login to the router's admin page and install latest firmware updates. Or perhaps these users also suffer from lame internet service. I personally live in Madison, AL and when a WOW technician came to make adjustments for our internet service, he commented on the router's outstanding performance: "this router's killing it". I can even pick a good signal at the farthest point away in my backyard. I also love the rich admin features this router provides. Currently I have it configured to to shut down the Wi-Fi on a regular basis every night to ensure kids remain in sleep mode. It automatically turns back on at my scheduled time. Should I go on? It runs great with Amazon fire TV box, my PCs, and the plethora of mobile devices that my family operates (Android and/or iOS). Don't believe the negative reviews!

This Router doubled the speed of my internet. I was struggling to keep up with too many devices, plus I was paying for 400mbs. My old Nighthawk AC1900 was only giving me half the speed, and in a good day it would go up to 220mbs . With this new Nighthawk X6S AC4000 I sometimes peak at 475mbs wireless. Also the old Nighthawk AC1900 could not handle the devices demand, and would hangup on me every so often. With this new Nighthawk X6S, no hangups, it is flawless. I highly recommend it. I have a two story house, and it covers the entire house plus the outside.

Best wireless router I've ever owned. I have perfect signal both upstairs and downstairs as well as my garage and both front and backyard. I bought the router specifically to provide wireless signal to all eight of my Google home nest cameras and it has worked perfectly. While powering all of my cameras I can still power all of my game systems and streaming services simultaneously
