Easy to set up, getting speeds 5 times after and better coverage. Unplugged my old orbi mesh and installed the new one, fallowed the instructions, set the new orbi with my old name and password and all devices working lawlessly. Very happy with the upgrade. Does help I also switch to a different internet provider.

I have owned (bought at Best Buy!) a Mesh system composed of 5 nodes and a wireless router for a few years now. Recently the node in the living room just gave up the ghost and so I thought I would try the NETGEAR Orbi 370 WiFi 7 System. Setting it up was very easy! In fact, once you remove your old router and nodes you simply download the Orbi Application and proceed as directed. Using the provided Cat 5 cable I connected the router to my cable modem and within a few minutes I had the router online and then set up the 2 nodes in the living room and kitchen. Firmware updates proceeded without problems and all was ready to go! Take note that the indicator lights on the bottom of the Orbi router and nodes do not stay lit once your system is online and operational which is the opposite of my old Mesh system. Once I was online I changed the default name and password of the Orbi 370 to my old systems name and password, this takes a few minutes to do as the system reboots and *BINGO*!!, all and I do mean ALL of your WiFi equipment that had access to your previous system now has access to the new Orbi 370 setup! A main advantage of WiFi 7 over WiFi 6 systems is wider bandwidth and greater access to bands that are less congested. It also allows transmitting and receiving of data simultaneously over multiple bands. In plan english. It is FAST and EFFICIENT and should be more stable. Should be. More on that in a paragraph or so... In a word: FANTASTIC! My average wireless download speed is over 700 mbps (theoretically WiFi 7 can be up to 46 Gig per second!) and my upload speed averages over 100 mbps! Average. Hardwired it can reach 1000+ mpbs. My video streaming services are clean, clear, sharp and without any buffering! My paid services are Prime Video, Disney Plus and Max. And again, they are all faultless...so far! Same with YouTube where I enjoy motorcycling review content at least 3 times a week. So why did I give this 3 box system "only" 4 stars out of 5 possible? My wireless HEOS music speakers seem to be having difficulty with the Orbi Mesh System. They often drop out 2 or more of my wireless speakers and twice they have dropped my 2 Denon Home Streaming Amps. For the record, I bought all of my Denon audio equipment with my own money from my local Best Buy. This morning I had to bring 2 of the HEOS speakers back online by booting them with a power reset. This didn't help and so I rebooted the entire HEOS system and again, this did not help. Finally, at around 5 a.m. I did a hard boot on the Orbi Router and the 2 nodes and all has been well for just over 4 hours now but I am keeping an eye on it. My "old" Mesh system with 5 nodes never had any problems with any of my equipment. But now that wireless router with 4 working nodes will find a new home with my daughter and her family. This Orbi is said to be good for approximately 6,000 square feet of space and our home is just over a third of that so I am hoping this problem with my WiFi HEOS setup and the Orbi is now fixed as I listen to music throughout my day in our home, including my garage home gym. I am otherwise VERY pleased with every other aspect of the NETGEAR Orbi 370 Series BE5000 Dual-Band Mesh WiFi 7 System! I can highly recommend it with the aforementioned caveat of my HEOS music system dropouts. Our 2 Roomba iRobot Vacuums work flawlessly as does all of our Windows and Mac computer equipment, Android and iOS cell phones, Blink Security Cameras and our Nest Thermostat to name but some of the items we have wirelessly connected to our home network. The Orbi 370 Series is very easy to setup and operate. The router and nodes are relatively small and unobtrusive and did I mention it is FAST?! Well it is! Highly recommended? Indeed!

Entry Level But Top Notch Performance

I’m both impressed and thrilled with the performance I’ve experienced with this Netgear Orbi 370 (370) dual-band mesh router and two satellites bundle. It’s the first mesh Wi-Fi router I’ve owned that reasonably executes as advertised right out of the box. Even though it’s the “affordable” member of the Orbi Wi-Fi 7 family it confidently overperforms for this category. Speaking of cost. Up until its release “budget” options or Wi-Fi 7 mesh satellite systems were limited, largely because the standard is still relatively new. But Wi-Fi 7 is now starting to be incorporated into the latest phones, computers and TVs. At the 370’s price it only makes sense to buy a Wi-Fi 7 router even if you have no Wi-Fi 7 devices yet. It’s backwards compatible with all Wi-Fi devices. I don’t have any Wi-Fi 7 devices myself but noticed better home coverage and network stability. Plus, I’m now future-ready for when I do get Wi-Fi 7 devices. I haven’t tested any of the 370s’s entry level competitors, but I have tested other Wi-Fi 7 routers. The 370 is more than capable for most homes and use cases. It’s powerful and because it’s not over spec’d for “average” needs, reasonably priced. For non “power users,” I think it’s the one to get right now. MISSING BUT LIKELY NOT MISSED Before I get into the 370’s features and my experience with the router I’ll get the 370’s limitations out of the way in case any of these are a non-starter for you. Most notably the 370 is “dual band,” 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands router. Right now these are the bands devices use today. There is a third band, 6Ghz, that Wi-Fi 6e and higher end Wi-Fi 7 routers also include. This is a FOMO spec for most people – even me. Sure, it’s nice to have, but ultimately, it’s not a life changing one, unless, again, you are a power user or hardcore gamer. Next, the 370 is fast, but not Bullet Train fast like it’s vastly more expensive siblings. Still, most people, I think, don’t subscribe to an Internet service faster than 2 Gbps. Heck, most areas don’t even have 2 Gbps service available. So, while the 370’s bandwidth is limited to 5 Gbps unless a lot of people in your house are simultaneously steaming 4K video, transferring large files between computers and playing graphic intensive online games you likely won’t get anywhere near that maximum. Even streaming a 4K video only requires 10% of the 370’s capabilities. Finally, the 370’s ethernet port is limited to 2.5 Gbps. This may be the most problematic spec for online gaming and NAS use. I doubt it will affect most other uses though. It’s more of an emotional gut punch. Personally, I recovered once I saw it has no effect on my use, but I don’t have data hog devices connected to it either. BUILD QUALITY, FEATURES The 370’s external case is a thin, hollow, plastic shell of how older Orbi’s felt in-hand. Out of the box I wondered if it as a “dummy” display unit it felt so empty. But be assured there’s solid tech inside so don’t judge it by its cover. The 370 replaced my older Orbi. I’m neutral on the 370’s design. I appreciate the “sync” button was relocated to the front and is now easily reachable. But I don’t like the miniaturization of the status light indicator. On the old system a ring around the entire top of the case made it easy to recognize errors and booting progress. The light on the 370 is reduced to a thin line at the bottom of the case and hard to see – or impossible if you have something in front of the router. A “must have” feature for me is at least one Ethernet port on each satellite in addition to the base. That’s one of the reasons I went with Orbi years ago. The 370 continues that tradition, something not universal on entry level models. As mentioned, it’s not the fastest available, but it’s fine for my use of it. For me, this port eliminates the need to set up Wi-Fi on select individual devices. For example, one of my satellites is in my home A/V equipment closet. I just plug all my devices (receivers, AppleTV, music server, game consoles, etc) and the satellite into an Ethernet switch and instantly everything is connected to my home network and Internet. No need to enter a SSID or password in every respective device’s settings menu. The 370’s most surprising feature though is its range. I’ll get into detail about my experience below, but with the two satellites Netgear says it can cover 6,000 sq. ft. That’s bigger than “99%” of homes and a lot more advertised coverage than I’ve seen on other budget systems. My experience though is reality mutes claimed theoretical range. My home is a fraction of 6,000 sq ft but the 370’s reach in my home seems to exceed any other router I’ve set up here before. That’s the major stuff. The 370 has an option to configure a guest network and IoT network if desired, and, of course, it supports WPA3 and WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode passwords too. SET UP & APP I’ve setup a lot of routers, both for myself, friends, and family. It’s a geek’s burden I guess. Netgear has made basic set up of the 370 so painless and intuitive they might stop needing me. All you need is the app (iOS and Android) to initiate setup of a new system. Basically, power the router and satellites where you want them, use the app to scan the QR code on the router and follow the instructions on your phone’s screen. The process to me about 10 minutes including satellite syncing. Once complete you may get a notification to update the router’s firmware. The app itself is non-techie friendly. It’s a useful tool to both monitor your network and make basic settings changes like setting up or disabling a guest network or looking to see what devices are connected or offline. You can also block specific devices that you don’t want online 24/7 or don’t want the kids use them. The best feature is the ability to reboot without a visit to the router. For more technical setting changes a web browser interface is available. PERFORMANCE To be fair, the frustrating reality about Wi-Fi routers is their performance is like a snowflake in that no two homes are going to duplicate performance or experiences even with identical models. There’re so many factors affecting effectiveness like a home’s layout and construction materials, it’s location in a high rise or a home on a small lot, or one with acres between the neighbor. So, for context, I live in 4-floor, 1800sq ft open floor plan brick townhouse in urban surrounds. I have all sorts of Wi-Fi and other radio signals close by. Because of this, getting uniform Wi-Fi coverage in my house until now has been impossible. With my previous Orbi router and 3 satellites (one more than in this kit) I got 100% of my paid Internet speed on the first floor and then it dropped 15% each level up. So, 85% on the 2nd floor dropping to 55% on the 4th. I got similar results with other brands so it’s my home, not the router. That changed a bit when I installed the 370. I now get 70%+ of my paid Internet speed (300Mbps) on my upper two floors, quite an improvement. I get 100% or better on the first two floors. Further evidence of the 370’s robustness is exhibited both in the now immediate response of my smart devices when voice activated and the resolution to buffering issues I had on my 4th level with some audio apps. Let me elaborate a bit. In the past few years I’ve built up an Apple Home based smart home system. It includes AppleTVs, Wi-Fi light switches and dimmers, Hue lights, window shades, garage door opener, and more. I didn’t count the total but it’s over 35 devices. Then there’s all my other devices that require or are enhanced by Wi-Fi. This collection worked “OK” with my old router, but often laggy. Other times a particular device like my ceiling fan would lose connection for a while. It was annoying. Since installing the 370, however, all my devices respond quickly to commands. If I ask Siri noticed seen any device surreptitiously go offline. This is a huge “win” for me. Slow buffering with some radio apps was another problem I experienced with my previous system. Music would play fine for a while and then go silent for a few seconds or disconnect completely. This mostly happened on my 4th floor and, thanks to the 370’s improved coverage, has vanished. IS THE 370 FOR YOU? I have a home full of Wi-Fi devices (50+) and frequently transfer files from my laptop on the top floor to my lower level desktop. I stream 4K movies occasional, but I also have Internet-only live TV. I couldn’t be happier with the 370. So, I’d say unless you need ultra-fast LAN speed for gaming or file transfer, need the 6Ghz channel, or are approaching the 70 devices max the 370 can handle, you’ll probably enjoy it too.

Wi-Fi 7 on a Budget: High Speeds & Big Coverage

The Orbi 370 BE5000 Mesh system is an affordable entry into the world of Wi-Fi 7 offering some significant upgrades for users migrating from Wi-Fi 6, but leaving out the 6GHz band. I found this system extremely easy to install, and the app intuitive and easy to navigate. *Design/Build/Unboxing/Setup* The box contains 1 Orbi Router, 2 Orbi Satellites, 1 2-meter ethernet cable, 3 power adapters, and a quick start guide. The design of both the routers and satellites are clean and minimalistic with only a subtle Orbi logo printed on the bottom front. There's an LED that will glow different colors based on the system status. The build quality feels sturdy and well constructed. The Router has both a 2.5 Gbps WAN port and a 2.5 Gbps Lan port. The two satellites both have one 2.5 Gbps LAN port each. This will help you backhaul the satellites to the router, but it will use the only port available. So you will not be able to hardwire any devices from the satellites if you backhaul the system. Regarding setup, the Orbi app has an excellent walk through that's easy to follow. It does make you wait 3 minutes during one step that I found a little annoying but it's to ensure you're hardware is ready for the next step for novice users. *Specs/Features* The Orbi 370 series is built for the Wi-Fi 7 standard and operates on dual bands, 2.4 and 5 GHz. Theoretically it has a maximum output of 5 Gbps but personally I've never had any residential internet over 1 Gbps and that is what I have now. As I stated before, it's missing the 6 GHz band found on the Tri-band or Quad-band systems. The 6 GHz band is like a superhighway (320 MHz channels) with little interference from older devices. However, attributes you do get with the Orbi 370 are Multi-Link operation which will allow your devices to connect to both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands at the same time. This will help you with speed and reliability. You get 4k-QAM which is a more advanced data encoding scheme that packs more data into the same radio wave. You will get preamble puncturing that is a more efficient way of segmenting the busier sections out so that the rest of the channel can maintain fast speeds. Wi-Fi 7 also handles the 160 MHz channel widths better in the 5 GHz band, much better than Wi-Fi 6. *Performance* I have a 1 Gbps connection and I was receiving an impressive speed of up to 900 Mbps download/upload. This was downstairs, and upstairs all the way down the hall in my study. The connection has proven to be reliable and consistent over the past week. I didn't witness any instability or connectivity issues. I was also getting much better coverage in my backyard. I have a few wireless cameras back there that performed with no issues, but I also use my phone in my backyard periodically and the coverage was fantastic. These are the fastest speeds I've had with a Wi-Fi mesh system. This system just works. *App* I can't overstate how much I like this app. Simplicity is what we need sometimes when it comes to technology, and the Orbi 370 manages to remain simple and easy to navigate, but give us the options and features that we need. On the home screen there's a device manager, security (there's a 30 day trial of NETGEAR armor that provides extra security for your devices by scanning your devices and your network. I typically don't subscribe to extras but Armor is actually a pretty good value. You're getting router level protection that covers up to 50 devices. There are parental controls but they are locked behind premium (I did receive a 30 day free trial.) This allows you to create schedules, block inappropriate websites, and block apps. There's an internet speed test where you can test download, upload, and ping. There's a network map, Wi-Fi settings, a Guest Wi-Fi setup (you can share a QR code, set time periods, and set security methods), and a traffic meter if you need to monitor usage. *Pros* * Affordable entry into Wi-Fi 7 * Very simple setup * App is intuitive and easy to use * Coverage is excellent for most homes * High speeds are maintained throughout the house *Suggestions/Needs Improvement* * No 6 GHz Band * One LAN port per satellite * A couple of features are behind a paywall I would suggest this system to anyone with internet speeds up to 2 Gbps who are upgrading from WiFi 5 or 6 systems that want improved coverage and speeds across the house. It's reliable and efficient. Highly Recommended.

    Great Affordable Wireless Solution

I would like to share my experience of switching my Wi-Fi network to a newer hardware networking mesh system. I have had Wi-Fi 6 Mesh networking at my home for a few years now and it has been serving me well and a year ago I was pretty hesitant about switching to Wi-Fi 7 as it was not fully finished and pretty expensive. This year is a different story for me: my Internet provider implemented fiber networking which means faster speeds and my current Wi-Fi 6 set up was not able to push 1.2Gigs of download and upload speeds. This is where Netgear Orbi came to play and I decided on 370 Series with Dual-Band Mesh. First the setup process - I would say it was OK and a bit clunky. The app pretty much walks you through the entire process and helps you switch your network to the new hardware, however I would encourage the manufacturer to "clean" this process up and simplify it as it can get confusing and frustrating. Adding 2 satellites (two additional mesh units) took a bit longer than expected too, and after the updating its firmware I had to re-log in again to the app. The Orbi App is OK (in my opinion it needs improvements) and offers a number of advanced networking configurations. It is a bit slow too, once you start the app, it shows a message that it is connecting to the Router and after a few seconds, you should be good to go. I would think in this day and age, an app should be connected to your router instantaneously (like my previous networking solution). The app also offers Parental Controls, which I was mostly interested and it offers simple controls, however a subscription is required for scheduling and other filtering services. Wireless Coverage is great in our 3000 sq. home, I have around 70 wireless devices and all of them are working well with the new router. I also enabled an option to create an IoT Wireless band for all of my smart devices to be connected to. I had only one issue with one of my notebooks not connecting to the network. After restarting the wireless network, it finally cleared that bug. My Internet speeds have improved significantly thanks to the new standard and this router supports crazy fast 2.5 Gig connections. One thing I wish this router had was a few extra ethernet ports for wired connection and networking. You only get one port. I am sure they have a more expensive solution to this in their product line though. All in all, I am pleased with my current setup and will continue watching the new trends as Wi-Fi 7 settles in our home.

I upgraded to the Orbi 370 BE5000 to improve coverage across my two-story home with a basement, and the difference is night and day. Setup through the Orbi app was incredibly straightforward—plug in, connect the WAN port to my modem, and within minutes everything was online. The performance is outstanding. Wi-Fi 7 makes streaming, gaming, and video calls smooth on every floor, even in areas that used to be dead zones. My smart cameras and switches (mostly 2.4 GHz) connected without issues, and the dedicated IoT network option keeps everything organized. The design is sleek and minimal, blending nicely with home décor, and I love that it provides consistent coverage both indoors and outside for my security cameras. The system automatically optimizes connections and hasn’t required any rebooting or manual adjustments since installation. Overall, this Orbi setup delivers exactly what it promises—fast, stable whole-home Wi-Fi with modern features and future-proof performance. Highly recommended for anyone looking to eliminate weak signals and get the most out of their high-speed internet.

Set up was moderately easy with a couple of catches due to older equipment. The product functions well, but unfortunately not a marked improvement over what I had before having satellite connections. Devices in the front of the house it used to have one bar now only have two. The main router hub is faster, and my streaming experiences are much better than they were.

This mesh system replaced one of the early Orbi systems, that was not slated to get any more security updates. I was already familiar with the the app. and operation of the system. Setup was easy, but a couple of older devices would not connect, or kept going off-line. I called the 800 number and was walked through activating an IoT network. That has pretty well solved the problem with one device left to go. I don’t know if this could have been worked into the initial release, but it would have made like a bit easier. Perhaps it was only discovered later. In summary, I’m happy with my new Orbi upgrade and do recommend it to those needing to upgrade. The overall performance of the network is improved, and I’m already prepared to take advantage of WiFi 7 as we replace devices in the next few years.

I've been to the top of the mountain - and this is just as good. I went crazy a few months ago and went all in on my wifi system - I bought the Orbi 970 - it's like $2k for a router and 2 satellites - and I didn't stop there, I got 8Gbps google fiber - aaaaand it didn't seem any faster than this setup with 3Gbps google fiber. this is just my experience and I'm not a gamer. I was expecting instant websites and they still loaded in their usual snappy time with the 970 and 8Gbps. I also learned that wifi speeds are about the same with this 370 as they are with the 970 because my devices - iPhone 16 pro's have a limit of about 1.2Gbps, and the Wifi strength drops with distance from the router or satellites. So for my money this 370 makes sense - one caveat is that I am fortunate enough to have a house with wired internet connections so I can connect 2 of these satellites with an ethernet connection - so dual band works for my setup. if you don't have that, you might want a tri-band system that can dedicate one of those bands to wireless backhaul (connecting the router to the satellites wirelessly). overall the 970 was the top of the mountain and the view from the 370 is identical for what I use the internet for - zoom meetings, and web browsing with some mid sized file uploading and downloading.

Pleasantly surprised by Orbi's Wifi 7 without 6Ghz

Purchased to replace Wifi router provided by Spectrum and prior Linksys Velop mesh system which died. Researched and decided to try Orbi since the new 370s were cheaper, did not require subscription for advanced settings, and did not have reported support / manufacturing / security gaps. Bottom line, selected this Orbi 370 level due to smaller investment since Wifi 7 tri/quad-band and 6ghz still seem like a work in progress from vendors. Current Wifi 7 6ghz device reviews seem to be all over the map. I have been pleasantly surprised by the reliability and speed of the Orbi mesh. For my devices with Wifi 7 cards, the connection is fantastic with low latency. My FAST and Ookla results are better than published plan speeds. The backhaul has also been working great. The Orbi administrative web page and mobile app work well. All the typical advanced options. Being able to have a dedicated IOT / VLAN for devices has helped improve all device connectivity including Ring, Kangaroo, etc. Note: Had to use the router's ethernet connection (laptop) and admin web page to setup the primary router. For some reason the mobile app crapped out during initial setup. After initial setup, the mobile app has worked fine. I did add an ASUS - QG-U1050 switch to the primary router since it feeds wired connections to TV, Ooma, Apple TV, additional satellites, etc. I decided not to subscribe to the NETGEAR Armor, but it seemed to work well during the trial period and did not conflict with my existing tools. Armor did identify some unusual traffic to one of my ring cameras originating from Amazon / Ring IPs.

Needed to upgrade my previous Orbi and this was the winner. I tried a different mesh system and it wouldn't to play nicely with work VPN. This set fit the bill perfectly. The only downside that is not mentioned in set up: You HAVE TO use the Orbi ethernet cord for it to operate.

Gave great WiFi coverage, but cratered my speeds. Have 2 Gbps from ISP and on previous WiFi 6 Asus router was getting about ~270 Mbps on the opposite side of the house. With Orbi, was getting constant 100 even standing next to the router and not any of the satellites. Also the advanced options in the app were lacking. TLDR; stable connection and good coverage, but decimated WiFi speed.

I needed this system to achieve WiFi throughout my house. The router/ modem is in the garage and my house is constructed with adobe bricks. I added the mesh system and connected the satellites with cad five wiring to achieve WiFi in the entire house. This is far better than the extenders which I previously used.
