Definitely glad my husband found & purchased this product. After moving from a one story home to a two story, we had a lot of problems with our internet working . We both work from home with his office downstairs & mine upstairs. I was constantly having issues when I was trying to work. Orbi has helped tremendously! We also have two teenage gamers that made matters worse. I don’t know what we would have done without it! I definitely recommend if you need a boost to try this! We had tried a couple others that didn’t work but this did the trick!!

Works Great But Netgear Armor is Unforgivable

The trial 30 day Netgear Armor security blocks multiple legitimate sites and even when the feature is turned off on the app, it still blocks the sites.
This is unfortunate because it is an otherwise excellent solution for my AT&T BGW210 modem which was woefully inadequate and does speed things up quite well. My free trial expires on August 21, 2020, so hopefully this will finally set me free.

replaced an older netgear extender with the orbi system. installs easy with or without app. My modem and router(s) are in basement computer area the orbi satellite is on the main floor close to above the area where router is. I was prepared to bring the orbi router upstairs if needed. no need the Orbi range covers every corner of the house, garage and the lot (double city lot) I can grab a signal even down the street two lots away. very happy went with a new ssid so had to tweak smartthings, ring... but no real connection errors. couple things of course read the install directions and if you have modem/router like I do you need to disable wifi on modem(this would be the case with any new wifi that is not an extender. we have 4k streaming on tv's upstairs, even switched from wired to wireless on one of the Xboxes multiple devices all running fantastically some wired, most wireless Very happy, still relatively new (about a week) lots left to mess around with like printers and a media server but so far 5 stars and then some!!!

Review of the NETGEAR Orbi AC2200

This is a users review of the NETGEAR - Orbi AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 2-pack system.
I purchased this about a month ago and have been using it daily since then. I have a 3300 sq ft home / garage that needs decent wi-fi coverage to ensure that my systems can communicate. I was having issues with my D-Link tri-band simply because of the shape of the house (too many walls between one side and the other of the house) causing the signal to drop by the time it got to the garage.
The Orbi has a simple setup and the ability to make some fairly detailed configuration changes via the web page (not the app) to the signal strength for the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, among other things. If you want to do more than basic monitoring or control of the devices you must use the web application. There are several guides online that can help, but they don't always specify that you are having to use the web page and not your phone/table application.
I have not really had any issues with the base and the remote device getting out of sync and everything is a pretty seamless transition between the zones. All in all I am very happy with this system.
One word of advice... If you are swapping your current wireless out for this system, then before you perform the swap log into your 2.4GHz home automation devices and ensure that the SSID will point to your new SSID. It has a small problem with 2.4GHz HA devices connecting to a new SSID. I think that the 5GHz band overpowers to 2.4GHz band making it difficult for them to connect. Either that or make your new Orbi SSID and password the same as you old one. This will just make things easier.

Best Wireless Router I've Installed!

This Orbi system is incredible. I was simply trying to get better and faster connectivity by buying a booster for my upstairs office PCs when a tech rep at the Best Buy store in Silverdale steered me towards this "Mesh Network" system.
It even comes with a free downloadable app for your smartphone that helps with setup. It can be used to locate the strongest outlet location to plug the Satellite unit into for the best signal. I just plugged it into the outlet at the top of the stairs and BOOM, great signal.
I have set up lots of wireless routers in my time and this one was up and running within about 10 minutes, not counting unboxing and reading instructions! Once I typed in my network code using the phone app, the system went through it's internal setup functions and the upstairs Satellite unit became connected, all my office PCs were instantly faster for web browsing and sending & receiving email.
We got the unit with a Single-Satellite and I was able to use my old R7000 Nighthawk router as an Ethernet Hub/Switch by simply turning off the radio transmitter using the top panel buttons. Please note that if you need more than "One" Ethernet connector where your main Orbi unit will be installed, get the next level up that has mulitple jacks built-in, or use your old router like I did if you are able.

Do the firmware update

After first installing this Orbi system I was dismayed that it all wasn't working as intended. The satellite unit that plugs into an outlet wasn't staying connected to the main hub. After updating the firmware it all worked like a dream. Speeds are incredibly fast. My only gripe is you can't separate the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz channels from within the GUI. Devices will auto-connect to which ever is the stronger signal. Not a bid deal though; Range and signal strength are outstanding.
As long as you do the firmware update first you will love this system!

With my router sitting at the one end of my home, and unable to move it, the other half of my house suffered from slow to nonexistent internet speeds. After months of of this painful experience, I decided to purchase this item after much research. The item works great and has taken my internet to new speeds; prior to installing this I had < 10 mbps in a room that now has > 200 mbps.
I haven’t had any issues with this product, and it’s easy to manage through the Orbi app. But figuring out how to set this up, did consume several hours of my day. FYI: if your modem is also a router, you will have to take additional steps prior to setting this up.

Before this router, we had the latest generation Apple Airport Extreme. But Apple has stopped supporting their own device, and the fan of the Extreme has also been acting up - with random high fan speed - once every hour or so.
Enter the Orbi router. This router gives us consistent and fast speeds - about 15-20mbps more than what we pay for - and also transmits a strong signal all throughout our house. This thing is simply amazing. Even with all our devices connected all at once, it never chokes. All in all, best router we’ve ever owned!

This Orbi AC2200 series mesh router. with one extra remote access point, provides amazing coverage, easy setup and wonderful functionality. After setting up one for a neighbor, I was so impressed with the coverage, I bought one for my own home. Now I have 100+ megabits in every corner of my two story home. That's including my garage and workshop and all with a single wifi password. Love this design and I highly recommended it to those where a single router can't provide the range needed..

Easiest setup! The best part is I was able to rename this device to match our old rented Verizon router, so our devices didn’t even know the router changed. It really made it an easy transition.
We’ve had it now for about 6 months and haven’t had a single issue. Our router and modem sit in the basement of our ranch-style house, because the Verizon worker who installed it said it would be hard to move it upstairs due to the short coaxial cable the builder installed. As a result, the booster being upstairs has been such a huge help and gives a consistent strong signal through the whole house and even the whole yard on our 1-acre property! Further, we used to have to restart the old one every few weeks because it would just stop transmitting a signal and this one has been seamless, especially with my working from home and constant Zoom calls, a consistent and strong internet connection is super important.

Don't activate the free trial of the Netgear Armor Security. It's a subscription addition, but when purchasing Orbi, you get a free 1 month trial. The orbi was working great with all our various devices (laptops, cell phones, smart tvs, game consuls, etc.), and it's so fast! As soon as I activated the Armor security trial, my 3 tvs were kicked off the network and I still can't get them back on. I'm going to need to call tech support for help, which is a bit annoying. If you are great with technology and can figure out how to get the security program to accept all of your approved devices, then I'm sure it's great. As for the router, it's awesome and totally would get 5 stars if not for their frustrating security trial.

I purposely waited to write this review. Too many extenders fail in some way in the first 6 months. I’m happy to say that this is the best one I’ve owned so far. My first day with it was rough because of my own setup. I set it up the same as my main modem and then was unable to access it. I called customer service that evening and surprisingly they were there to help. They had me set it up as a different name and that fixed my problem. I haven’t had any problems with it at all. I have gig speed internet with Xfinity (XB7) and even when Xfinity freaks out and reboots my Orbi will reconnect with no problems. The plug in wall extender doesn’t get hot and doesn’t have any lights on it, blends into the wall. On speed, my Wi-Fi next to the main modem is around 800 and it’s at the opposite end of my house (2800 sq ft) at the other end is the extender and it gets from 300 to 400 and covers that side of my house better than anything I’ve ever had.

PERFECT ROUTER

I must preface that I have flashed routers with DD-WRT firmware to improve performance. The Netgear ORBI needs no upgrade. Out of the box, this router outperforms every router I've ever had. I have a 2500sqft with upstairs and basement. Having just one satellite is all I need to get strong signal all over and outside in the driveway and close-by yard. When I get electrical in my garage, I'll add a 2nd satellite for backyard coverage!
The app that pairs with the ORBI is top-notch. It performs stellar and allows for all kinds of function you'd want while home or monitoring on-the-go. You can also easily manage your guest network on the app.

I recently purchased this router because I upgraded to a faster internet speed and spectrums router was not giving me the speeds I was subscribed to. As soon as I got this router, I set it up, tested the speeds, and I was amazed to see I was finally getting the speeds I recently subscribed to. It's a plus that I don't have to pay to rent a router from spectrum anymore too! I also love the satellite, I live in a small apartment but I have Nest cameras on each side of my apartment (on the outside and inside) and my internet was struggling to keep up with the camera on the outside of the other side of my apartment. I set up the satellite in the middle of my apartment, and my outside Nest camera no longer cuts out at all, and it used to be out over 90% of the time! I also have a much easier time using my printer. Definitely recommend to anyone and everyone! I will be buying more satellites once I buy a bigger home.

I bought this to extend the range of our AT&T fiber modem/router, now that everyone is working from home. I consider myself pretty savvy when it comes to technology, but this took me three or four tries to get it set up correctly to the point that it replaced the wireless router part of my AT&T device. I get the whole "set it up in our app!" idea, but if something goes wrong, it's difficult (at best) to tell what happened without knowing that you can log into the network on a dedicated computer (not a phone). Once it was set up, though, it worked like a champ.

Purchased this for our new home and it's working out great. Covers 3 levels in our 3400 square foot home (router in loft on upper floor and the other in the basement). I wasn't sure if this Orbi would cover the whole house or if I would need more than the 2 units.
Overall the installation went well. I initially had plugged my laptop into the ethernet port to check wired access. I couldn't get the router to configure correctly for wireless. I called Netgear support and they were great. Quick response, the tech knew exactly what the problem was and once I unplugged my laptop everything worked well (he said only a problem during configuration). We've been using the router for over a month now and have no issues in any part of the house.

I am not a Guru by any means I'd say novice to moderate. Set up was easy using the App on my I-phone. 2,550 sq. foot 2 story house. 200 meg download/ 10 meg upload service from spectrum cable to my modem. I have the modem and the Orbi router hooked up in my office on the front left corner, and the satellite plugged in upstairs on the right in the hallway. Excellent coverage throughout the house and even in the front and back yards. 3 computers, 2 laptops, 2 smart TV's, and 4 cell phones. The office computer is hard wired into the Orbi, and all the others are using WiFi. We did a test. We ran the 2 laptops and the 2 TV's running 4K videos from Netflix, 2 computers doing extreme gaming, and surfing the Net on all 4 phones at the same time. NO signal drop or degradation at all on any device !! All were getting 228 meg download and 10-11 meg upload speeds at the same time. Extremely happy with the purchase and performance on the Orbi 2 piece system for this house. Others have had problems. We did on 1 computer at first, but figured out it was the WiFi receiver in that computer. once we changed the PCI card and external antenna, (for $30), in that computer, problem solved. I wish I could give it more stars, but 5 for sure. It also has Bit Defender protection. I have it installed on all our devices for when we're not at home, but for the house, the system blocks Malware before it even gets to the device. The App on my phone gives me notification and even tells me which device it was blocked from. Great product !! If your house is larger, then you might want the 2 satellite system, but for us, this unit works great !!
