Customers praise the NES Classic Edition's game selection, ease of use, small size, and the inclusion of HDMI for modern TVs. Positive comments also highlight the nostalgic appeal and affordable price. However, a common complaint centers on the short controller cord length. Overall, the system is seen as a fun and easy-to-use retro gaming experience.

Just like the original- only better. Having all of the games on one little system is super convenient and nostalgic. It’s so cute and my kids love playing all of the old games that I loved as a child!!

I bought the NES Classic for my wife. We had gotten the SNES Classic before and though the games were more nostalgic for me and found that there was not really any games of interest for her. The NES Classic was a game changer.
I had randomly saw on bestbuy.com that the NES Classic was in stock and I automatically put in an order. Once I brought it home we reviewed the game options and there were definitely many games that she had remembered and had played and many more that she was not familiar. We settled on playing Dr. Mario and she got hooked.
My wife had never played Dr. Mario as a kid but once we started playing there was no way to take the controller out of her hand. While we played throughout the night my frail old body could not stay up past 10pm. As I laid down on the couch and watched my wife pay Dr. Mario, I ended up falling asleep, only to wake up in the middle of the night to her still playing it. Needless to say, she had played until 4am and reliving the days when you're a kid hooked on a game and just could not put it down. The NES Classic was definitely worth the purchase for us.
Technically, the console was easy to hook up and easy to use. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 star is because the controllers for the NES Classic are very short requiring us to sit very close to the TV. We ended up using our SNES Classic controllers which are a little bit longer but not by very much. We plan on purchasing wireless controllers for the NES Classic.

It took 3 months of me checking several times a day for this game to be in stock and available to order. It was well worth the patience. The NES Classic has most of our favorite games. The games are just like the originals were. The controller is the same. We have had a blast with the NES Classic. This was a great purchase. The only draw back is Tetris is missing and the cord on the controller is way too short. The controller draw back was easily solved with the purchase of an extension. I found a nice bundle with a carry case, additional controller and two extensions for a very reasonable price. Even with the price of the extras, this is still a great buy, especially when you consider today's cost for a single game for the modern gaming systems.

This system is so awesome it's very small and compact which is great for travel and it comes with 30 classic games preloaded on it (all the best games). Great idea for a system overall except the controller cord is so short you have to be sitting literally next to the system. The insignia extension cord for the controller is a must buy for this system.

What was supposed to be a gift for our 5 year old quickly turned into fun for the entire family. The games are fun, intuitive, and diverse (something for everyone). The only issue that I have is that the control pad cord length is way too short and I have to buy a 6 foot extension. You can't beat the price for 30 classic games built into the system.

If you love the old super mario bros., donkey kong, pac-man, and other Nintendo originals, then this is for you. It will definitely make you remember your childhood. I'm happy with this purchase. The only con is there is no way you add other games. But, for $60 you can't beat this amazing deal. Oh, and the device is really small. It fits in your hand.

What a great throwback to my youth! I love the pre-loaded games. I wish it had Tetris. The box is tiny, so it will be an easy travel companion. Two things that bug me are that the cords are too short and it only comes with one remote. So you'll have to spend a little more after you've already paid $50.00.

Considering that every game on this machine is a certified gem, I don't think there's anything that needs to be said. Mario, Zelda, Metroid...the list goes on and it's only 60 bucks. Considering these NES titles ran for $5 on the wii virtual console and you get 30 of them...that's a $150 value for almost a third the price. What a great product.
I will say that you should buy an extender or wireless controller however, as I can't imagine what Nintendo thought they were doing including a 3 foot cable! Regardless I can't take away from how great this is. I know it's just a cash-grab, but it's got both quality and value. Totally worth it.

The system itself is adorable and super easy to set up. You literally just plug it in to your TV through HDMI and you are ready to go. No firmware downloads or internet log in.
The controller included is absolutely accurate to the original design of the NES controller (for better or for worse). The only differences are the plug (connects with a Wii/Wii U and the NES Classic) and the crazy short (3 foot) cord. This cord is comically short by today's standards and you will absolutely want to buy an extension cord (most places sell them).
As far as the included games, there are plenty of gems, but also a lot of games that should be on here that just aren't (Contra, etc.)
All that being said, it is a fun system and really easy to set up. It is easily portable and a great looking nostalgia piece for any collector.

I was lucky enough to land a NES Classic a few days before Christmas. I was on break from work, so a buddy & I camped out for it. I was first in line and it reminded me of being a kid on Christmas in 1985 again when I got the original NES. Defiantly love the idea Nintendo has here, and it's a blast to play. I can't say anything more about the console than what you already know, so I'll just say that for $60, you will love this system. Sure, there are a couple dud-games, but for me, this is a great way to casually come in from work, play for 30 minutes or so, then get back to adult life. I can relive my childhood and it's very easy to take with me if I decided to travel with it.

My boyfriend loved this gift. It reminded him of being a kid. The device is super cute and miniature and has quite a few good games. The graphics are horrible (LOL), but no less than they were in the 80's. The price was decent. The controllers are interchangeable with the new SNES.

This is a great little device/toy to play 30 classic NES games, all in their 8-bit glory! What is awesome it is easy to navigate, play, the option to save in-game state games, so that you can pick up where you left off. The only drawback is that it comes with one controller, but you can buy an Insignia-branded controller for around $13. Also, the cord length is a bit short, but I have found online extension add-ons to give you more length. The filters built in to play in CRT mode (scan lines and all) makes it that much more a blast. All in all a great little system that I eventually modded to add my own ROMS.

I have an old NES-001 sitting in a closet that I always said I'd order the parts for in order to enjoy a throwback game. No need for that now.
The main menu is in widescreen, but the games retain the 4:3 ratio (there are options for CRT effect, 4:3, and "Pixel Perfect", not sure about that last one). Galaga, Super Mario Bros/2/3, and Street Fighter II were the highlights. My 11 year old nephew actually said the old games were "cool". We had a good retro-gaming weekend with some friends. I also picked up the SNES too.
Word of advice...get the 10 foot extension cables as the six foot cables may not suffice.

If you have fond memories of playing the original NES as a kid, you will love the NES Classic. It is a tiny, detailed emulator of the original NES with 30 built in games. It connects to HDTVs with an HDMI cable and plays them in the original 4:3 format. The controller is a perfect recreation of an original NES controller. The games are just like you remember with the added convenient feature of 4 save slots per game. Personal favorites are Super Mario Bros., Mario 3, Tecmo Bowl and Dr. Mario. Is it perfect, no. The cords are comically short. The controller cord is maybe 3 feet long so you have to either buy an extension cable/3rd party controller or sit two fee from the TV. Also, you have to hit the RESET button on the console itself to use the Save game feature. Nintendo should have added a button to the controller to allow quick game saves. Otherwise it's a great trip down memory lane for just $60. If you are a youngin who never played the NES as a kid, you might not be impressed with the dated graphics and sound. But for all you 30+ folks, enjoy!

These are hard to find and if you are lucky enough to get one you literally have to be waiting when the inventory hits. I love that its small enough to be portable, has great nostalgic games and pure fun. I do Not like the short cord of the controller.Really Nintendo? However my Mate purchased us some Insignia controllers with much longer cords that work just as well. There is a Gamepad V2 controller you can google that also works.I would rather do that then buying extenders. You can also expand the library of games beyond the 30 if you know how to Google. The only reason this is not 5 stars as due to no wi-fi or ability via Nintendo to extend library.Sometimes Nintendo acts like they do Not want our $.Also that this has been near impossible to find since launch which was almost 5 months ago.People would have paid more for the wi-fi and option to expand library via Nintendo.Nintendo should also sell items on their US site as they do in the UK.Making more readily accessible and not frustrating customer.I have a few colleagues who still want these.

To anyone wanting one in time for Christmas December will be your LAST CHANCE. We managed to get one. Arrived at Best Buy shortly after 7 AM on November 11th and had to spend 2 hours waiting in line
to people complaining why isn't _ on here? due to licensing issues. Downloading each for the 30 games at $5 from virtual console would cost you $150 so you're getting a good deal. The 30 games are solid titles.
The controller cord being short people need to stop nagging about that. Just buy an extension cable for $10. we did :)
If you were expecting more than 30 games for $60 you're DREAMING. The best deal I can think of that even comes close to this is sonic's ultimate genesis collection for PS3 / Xbox 360
Nintendo can not be blamed for scalpers. Scalping is not going to go away its just something we HAVE TO DEAL WITH. Some retailers should enforce 1 PER PERSON rule. Although Nintendo should have known that demand for this was going to be high. I heard stories of people flipping PS3 systems when they first came out back in November 2006
