Better than I thought!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had this router for a week now, my review is mainly on setup and parental controls, that was what I needed. I read hundreds of reviews on all types of routers and then looked at their apps to see what reviews were there. This router had hands down the most positive info. It's parental control looked like something I wanted. Well it was as good as I had hoped and even better. It was very easy to set up. I am not a computer genius or tech guru, but I had no problem straight out of the box setting this up, simple instructions. I was wary of installing the router, but it turned out to be very easy. I simply connected the router to the internet cable, then to my laptop, plugged it in, and got a pop-up box with instructions on my laptop. In ten minutes, I had the network set up. We then took each electronic and connected to the network one by one and as we did we could label them in the mobile app. You will need to create an account by the way. Now I can look and see all devices (TV, phones, laptops, iPad, apple TV, google home, Xbox etc). Everything is working perfectly. I can set controls on any or all of the items, you can limit certain sites, set times, it was wonderful. I have a guest network and home and I can shut anyone off of the system I want at anytime with the swipe of a button. The power seems excellent, better than our old router. All devices, no matter where they're located, seem to have a powerful signal. In addition, video streaming is much more consistent with fewer interruptions. I'm glad the old router died, as this one seems much better. My 75 MBPS cable speed package went immediately from around 25 MBPS to 70 MBPS with ALL of my devices running at the same time. Sometimes, it has gone close to 100 MBPS but of course that's during the off peak hours. We have control where ever we are, shopping, work, etc. I can shut it down. I also noticed that some of the iPads ran better and downloads were faster, I can't say for gaming yet as I have not played much to test it out. I've only played Call of duty for couple of hours and it had been stable throughout but to actually check it's credibility for gaming, I would have to spend little more time playing but hadn't been able to do that because of my workload. Truly, I was impressed and very happy with this router. In addition to all above perks, you get a cute little router that has been smartly and exceptionally well designed. This unit is, no doubt, a bit on the expensive side but is worth every penny. If you look at prices of some of its competitors, it's not that bad price wise. This router has yet to disappoint!

Surprisingly easy to setup - very easy to manage
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Anything I introduce anything into my home network, I worry about what effect it will have on other things, and will the pain of this introduction be worth the benefit. In this case, I believe it is. The Norton Core is a decently made unit, with a lot of features and functionality built in. From the built in USB port to be able to use a printer for the network, to the built in wired ethernet ports, they didn't take any shortcuts when they made this. Plus, the unit looks cool too. The light ring is around the bottom of the unit, and it is easy to see from across the room. This light ring helps to show you the status at a glance. Setup was extremely easy - plug into your router/modem combo (in my case, using FIOS) and then tell the devices to go to this unit for their WIFI connection, and that is it. You have to setup a Norton account, but no worries, you get a year of service from the unit before you have to renew - and I don't know what the renewal costs, but based on performance it will be worth it. You'll see in the app, who is connected to the network, the network speed, a security score, create a guest network, and also the device connected status (are they currently online or not). You can establish parental controls, and that is frankly amazingly easy and with a lot of control - time of day, types of sites to restrict, and so on. I found it to be very effective with the filtering, and fast too. From the standpoint of a router, it is super fast. No slowdown at all over the speed provided by FIOS. Using a competitive product, I saw speed reductions of about 1/3, and while expected, was disappointing. This does NOT have that kind of lag and that is very much appreciated because maintaining a secure network is important but how much sacrifice must you make in the speed department to achieve security? I can assure you I saw zero lag or slowdown. Smart firewalls/routers are all the rage right now, and for good reason. Your router from your provider does give you some protection from inbound threats. But programming it isn't for amateurs and is something we should avoid unless we really know what to do because irreparable harm will come to those who are not network educated. Norton removes this problem completely by making a very user friendly product that most everyone can easily manage. Here is the most important reason to have this: It will prevent intrusions from sources known as problematic, and it will allow you to decide if something should be allowed to contact known problem sites/sources. My phone was trying to upload to a google cloud server, but I don't know what app or why - since I have an Iphone and don't use Google. I was able to block that and prevent whatever app was doing that from being able to continue to do that. Smart firewalls are more important than you realize - your stuff is "online" all the time and exposed to the trove of hackers on the internet - this will help to protect you from that threat. Oh yes, as a router, it is providing a very powerful signal to all areas of my house. My previous router equipment was not able to do that, so this tells me it is doing a great job sending out the WIFI signal. You need this.....and if you decide it isn't for you, return it....Best Buy has a decent return policy. After you realize what your network connected stuff is doing, you'll likely realize you need this and will stay the course. It took one night for me to see stuff trying to communicate outbound without my knowledge and I was sold!

No more intruders!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Thanks to Norton Core, we no longer have to worry about network hacks or intruders. I had noticed some devices accessing my network recently. So I went to Best Buy and bought the Norton Core right away. Now I can see all the devices on my network via the phone app. I can block access or create guest networks. I can also limit the content people can access on the network. Great for small businesses.

Norton Core (Titanium Gold)
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just received my very stylish Norton Core (Titanium Gold) router a couple of days ago and have been testing it out. First off, I must say I love the geometric design of the router itself. Stands out from anything else I've seen in the past. Unboxing the package, you will find the Norton Core sitting on top. Underneath the Core, are instruction manuals, an Ethernet cable, power cable, and also a cord clip to organize your cords once everything is connected. Setup was really easy, especially with using the Norton Core companion app which is needed to setup the router. Once everything is connected it quickly searches for any updated firmware for the router and then continues with the setup process. Norton states the setup process could take up to 10 minutes, however, I was up and running in about 5 minutes. After getting everything setup and connected I did a quick speed-test on my network and so far everything is coming out just as fast as my previous router. I must note something that I really like about this Norton Core is the fact that Symantec included a 1 year subscription to the Norton Core Security Plus software. The subscription service is for one year and protects all connected devices to your network. Inside the app, you are greeted with a score (Norton Core Security Score - up to 500) that indicates how the level of security for your network. Other sub-menus within the app, ranges from general information about your network as well other changes that can be made to your wireless network, guest network, router, and other security tweaks. So far I'm really impressed with the Norton Core and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice stylish router.

Great Router w/ Cool Design
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Norton Core is a really cool looking wireless router with all the features of a modern router plus added security features that will help keep all of your connected devices secure. Setup was a breeze via the Norton Core app and took very little effort. The router itself is a very cool geodesic design which would feel at home on an end table or entertainment center--not hidden away like most routers. The router comes with 3 built in LAN connections which should be sufficient for most areas (TV, gaming console, etc.) The Norton Core is has more than enough power to handle all of your wireless devices for streaming 4K, gaming, web surfing, and social media. As I've stated before in other reviews, the ability to do a lot of this is just as dependent on the speed of your ISP as the capabilities of your modem/router. The Norton Core comes with a complimentary 1yr subscription to Norton Security Plus which helps with security your personal devices and parental controls. I don't think it's necessary but some people like additional piece of mind. For those of us who live around lots of people, I didn't experience any problems with signal interference due to the proximity of other routers. The Norton Core has features that allow you to set priorities so that your gaming or video devices always experience lag free performance. In conclusion, I think the Norton Core is an excellent router with some really impressive security features. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for some extra piece of mind above and beyond the typical router. Pros: -Design -Price -Features Cons: None

Not a good experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upon explaining my volatile network situation at Home I was in desperate need of a quality defense driven router. I had done my own research and had a few models in mind but against my better judgment went with the recommendations of bestbuy staff to buy this norton core. It would have been great for any normal network I have ever once been a part of. Its basic, auto driven and comes with norton Symantec for all my supported devices. The neighborhood trash had a laugh and forced its shutdown or froze it almost immediately. This router basically lasted 3 weeks and is now bricked in the sense that hours on the phone with tech support could not help and there’s a limit to what something is worth to the value of my time. Norton is there when you call, service is notable although explaining I didn’t want to start from the beginning with each new ticket went over there heads and I felt as if I was being talked to like a child when repeatedly asked to go over steps to make sure my upnp switch or dns gateways were switched to appropriate settings. I’m disappointed that the staff would recommend a product because it’s got the Norton name and not by the actual devices merit. I’ve since installed hardware with the customizable quality needed to keep a connection for more then a couple days. Bottom line. Don’t tell your customers that something is in there head Or “impossible”. You’ve obviously never even browsed through A pen testers distro or bothered to look into current exploits. Thanks for pile of electronics you recommended that now sit in the corner.

Norton Core, always keeping my home safe.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got my Norton Core through norton.com and received it a few weeks ago. So far my initial thoughts have been nothing but good. This product has exceeded my expectations so far. This Norton Core replaces my Netgear Nighthawk R7800 which I used to love, but Norton Core has provided me with stronger security and protection. I placed the Norton Core on my bookshelf in my family room, and I’m able to get perfect coverage throughout the house, and even down the street. I love that when you open the app, it takes you straight to your dashboard which shows you your security score. This is a great feature as I’m able to see the threats blocked and the traffic scanned. The unfortunate part was that my WiFi password was weak, so I decided to make it stronger, which then took me about two hours to re-add every device back to the network, but it was well worth it to keep my network safer. Nonetheless, I love the feature that whenever someone joins my network, I get a notification sent straight to my phone. It’s a nice feature which wasn’t available on my Netgear. Part of buying Norton Core, I received a free subscription of Norton Security and I’ve already downloaded it on my PC and iPhone, and the app automatically recognized the software was installed and my security score was improved. Occasionally, I had some issues where my internet would go offline, but it looks like with the recent software updates from Norton, I’m no longing facing these issues. Otherwise, everything with this router has been great. I’ve been getting amazing coverage compared to my previous router. Norton is constantly pushing new updates, and it has gotten better each time. I would highly recommend the Norton Core to others based on my experience so far.

Fantastic Router With Sense of Security
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first thoughts on this router was how modern it looked. I have a very modern theme in my house and I think this adds to it perfectly. I have it on my console next to my modem. It perfectly accents my IKEA sphere light. The next thing that made me get this was the Norton security that was included with the router. It protects all of the devices that are connected to it. This is a very nice feature that I have not seen before on any other router I have had. The initial setup out of the box was very simple. I would say just as easy as all of the other routers I have setup in the past. You download the app and it takes you through installation from there. It was up and running in a matter of minutes. It runs very smooth just like any other router I have and it does not disappoint. It has Ethernet ports and all cables are hidden behind it so they don't clutter. It also includes a free year on Norton anti virus for all of your devices. This is very nice to have, but still wondering if I will subscribe once I've had it for a year and it expires. It is about 10 a month, not sure if I will commit. That may be the only down side to this router is the re-occurring fees you may have if you want to keep the security. If you choose not to, then it is just a very nice, sleek, and modern router.

Our Norton Core Secure WiFi Router experience
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So it seems like my old Linksys router that I bought 10 years ago has finally died. We needed a new router quickly if I was to become untethered from the cable modem once again. We decided on the Norton Core Secure WiFi router. We were first attracted to its awesome geodesic dome design, but we were quickly taken in by its performance and security. This is truly a high-performance WiFi router. It easily handles 4K videos, online games, and large downloads with ease. We have not experienced any dropped connections and setup was incredibly easy. We used our smartphone to connect the router with the easy-to-use Norton Core App and we were up and running in seconds. Security had several options and was very easy to set up. Since it's a Norton product, it has built-in protection from malware, viruses, phishing, and programs that can make your computer into a botnet. The best part is that it protects all our devices, and we have a LOT. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Norton Core Security Plus, which offers even more peace-of-mind. Parental control is another nice feature. This allows us to manage screen time for our children's devices by setting content filters and daily limits on their usage. If they need to do homework we can pause the internet with the press of a button. Overall, the Norton Core Secure WiFi Router lives up to its name, providing easy, high performance, secure internet browsing, with control of our children's internet usage. The 1-year subscription to Norton Core Security Plus is icing on the cake. We're really glad we decided to get this router.

A Reliable Router!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Norton has manufactured a router that is beautiful aesthetically, yet robust in features. The design of this router is just beautiful, I love the shape, color and size. It can set within any room and blend in beautifully. The first step in getting the process started is downloading the app, which in my case was from the Google Play store as I am an Android phone user. The router integrated well and setting up everything was a breeze. I have multiple devices in my home that all were discovered by this router seamless. The coverage on this router is by no means a slacker, as I streamed a few movies and received great results as there weren’t any buffering, skips, or stalls. I especially like that you can always know your internet speeds. I am one who constantly wants to know how my internet speeds are progressing. The extra bonus is that it comes with a complimentary 1-year subscription to Norton Core Security Plus. The features are wonderful, but I am curious to know how much the cost will be after expiration of the complimentary subscription. If you’re in need of a quality router with great features such as parental controls, notification alerts, discovery of devices, guess access, notification of hacks and vulnerabilities, to name a few, then Norton maybe the router for you!
