    So Cool, Just love this!!

I have to say I just received this and I'm impressed. I have to say I've been a Norton user for sometime and always liked their product, I heard about this and pre ordered at the discounted price through Best Buy. I really liked the security features and the ease of use. My wife loved the color and look of the product, win win!!! Now that I've actually received the product I'm really impressed. First, it was so easy to set up, I am fairly technical so for me I didn't necessarily need that but let me tell you when anyone else in our home has to troubleshoot and I'm not there it can be a mess. I had my wife do the set up herself and it was so easy! I also love the app it is so cool and intuitive. It easily recognized all of the connected items in my home. I was then able to create profiles for everyone in our home and assign devices. The real reason I bought this device was for the security. I have 2 children so I wanted it for the security and monitoring but it's been so much more with the ease of use. Now I don't have to be the family IT guy all the time. Overall I really loved the product for the look and feel but also the ease of use! Tons of features within the app that I was pleasantly surprised about from profiles, to device discovery, prioritization of devices and people, content filtering, etc.

    Powerful Centralized Network Security

The Norton Core is a powerful comprehensive network solution for homes/home-offices. The Norton Core wireless network system combines industry leading wireless performance with enterprise level security services. Some of the security offerings include: IPS - Intrusion prevention system IDS - Intrusion detection system DPI - Deep Packet Inspection Norton security for iOS, Mac, Windows, Android. In addition to outstanding integrated security services, the hardware is as equally impressive. The Core offers 4 gigabit ethernet interfaces (3 for internal connections - 1 for WAN connectivity), a dual-core processor along with 1GB RAM and a flash drive system for fast data processing. The system is quick to setup and management is really easy with mobile app. You can create user profiles and map them to devices, get real-time metrics from every device on your network, bandwidth utilization and vulnerabilities all from one console. The most impressive element of the Norton Core system is that the services (especially DPI/IPS) do not have an enormous negative impact on throughput. For systems on the internal network (wirelessly connected) I get 400+Mbps between endpoints and for systems connected to the ethernet I get near line rate of 1Gbps throughput (around 800Mbps on average). Connections inbound from /outbound to the internet are consistent with the maximums provided by my ISP. The wireless performance is adequate for large coverage areas. I would recommend the Norton Core.

Don't have the time to keep up with security updates, but realize that it's something you need to be conscience of? This router keeps your devices secure with automatic updates for the latest features and security updates. No need for you to keep up with what updates need to be made where. Not to mention you can control everything from your phone - including what devices in your home can be online at what time - and you can even prioritize which one gets the most bandwidth- super helpful when multiple devices are online and streaming content - while you're trying to download or upload files. This router just makes everything easy and doesn't require me to keep up with updates- absolutely love it!

I replaced my current router with the Norton Core and am so happy that I did so. We've been using it for a few weeks and feel like we have a strong line of defense against malware, security breaches, etc. Every person in my home is connected, so that's 5 people all online at the same time doing various things. The Norton Core makes me feel better about our information is safe. I found it very easy to set up and to get started. The app is also very useful and I love the notification it sends when someone joins the network and I get to see any and all threats that were blocked. I am also a huge fan of the design, it may not be a big thing to most but I love that it's stylish and I can place it right out in the open instead of hiding an eyesore of a device.

Simple Review: If you care more about security than you do performance than I would say this is the router for you. Non-Simple Review: Starting off with the unboxing experience it's nice for what you get. Feels like opening up a premium unit which for the price it should. It provides quality cables and the best part is long enough cables to do anything you should need. The unit isn't crazy big which is appreciated and while most routers will be covered in lights that will keep you up this one has just a little ring of light on the base of the unit. Not too bad Norton not too bad. My gripes come down into performance. It's not a terrible unit but when the router tells you that it's recieving 276mbs and you test it on your devices and you get an average of 10....something is wrong. I tried messing with it and getting some basic support but honestly you shouldn't need to have to do this. The setup was atleast fast and easy which is always appreciated so if you are afraid to hook up stuff like this please don't be on this unit. Wrapping it up it's the protection. They make it seems like your getting so many features like the app usage. To be fair other routers in this prize category give you this so not a huge feature. Security is appreciated and feeling more protected by a number or safety score the unit gives you is appreciated. The monthly cost of this is not. If it asked about half of what it's asking for a month I'd probably be open to it as it would match what you usually have to spend on internet security anyways but it's hard to recommend it at that cost. As mentioned above if you care only about security than this could be your favorite one package fits all feel. I feel like for it's cost you could get better security and a better router than what this offers. I hope this review helps and thank you for reading it.

      Hi AverageConsumer,

Thank you for your detailed review of the Norton Core, we’re happy to hear that you were able to set it up easily and have been satisfied with the overall product.

I apologize for any frustration you may have over the subscription renewal fees; however, Norton Core Security Plus is a premium product offered by Norton. The $9.99/month doesn’t only cover the parental controls, it also includes PC/MAC/Mobile security software and connected device protection from viruses and malware to help keep your family safe. If you choose to not renew the Norton Core Security Plus subscription, Norton Core's Security and Parental Control features will be disabled, and Norton Core will simply function as a High-Performance Router, I apologize for any frustration or inconvenience this may cause.

As for the Speed Issues, not all Speed Test sites test the same way and because of the way they measure speeds, you may see speeds that are reported to be much slower than what you're truly getting. However, some Speed Test sites use methods to test the speed that we've found are much more accurate, such as Fast.com. Also, because of this, we include Speed Tests from within the Norton Core App for your convenience.

Aside from the Speed Test Results, did you experience any noticeable reduction in network speed while browsing, streaming, or downloading? If so, we would like to collect additional information and make sure that the Norton Core router is working as it should. Please contact our Norton Core Support team at 1-855-966-7866 and reference this review. We will be happy to help.
If you prefer, you can also contact our Norton Social Customer Care Team via direct/private message on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/messages/t/Norton) or Twitter (https://twitter.com/NortonSupport), just remember to reference your review when doing so.

Never could get app to sync with product. Called Norton 10 times. Keep doing same thing over that doesn’t work with different reps. Say they will call back..don’t! Ask Best Buy and Geek Squad while Norton is on a 3 way call. They won’t come out! So no one to help, support or take responsibility for product!

      Hi Gail,

We appreciate your feedback and I would like to apologize for any difficulty you encountered while setting up Norton Core. Also, we're terribly sorry that you had to call Norton Support multiple times and the promised callbacks were not honored.

As for the Free Home Setup, when you purchase Norton Core a Free Geek Squad Home Wi-Fi Setup and Secure offer is available from BestBuy Geek Squad. Once an order is placed, you'll receive an e-mail that contains a redemption code and instructions for scheduling an appointment. However, you would need to add that as a separate item and the savings will be reflected in your cart when all offer requirements are met. Please let me know if this was not the case.

We would like to gather some additional information regarding the phone calls and people you spoke to at Norton for coaching purposes. If you would be willing to provide some additional details about your experience, please contact our Norton Core Support team at 1-855-966-7866 and we will be happy to assist. You can also contact our Norton Social Customer Care Team via a direct/private message on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/messages/t/Norton) or Twitter (https://twitter.com/NortonSupport) if you prefer, just remember to site your review when doing so.

Let me first say that in a world where we have increasingly more connected devices, like lightbulbs, smart speakers, refrigerators, etc., it is becoming more and more important to ensure that you protect you network that includes these devices. If you have a smart-home, to any degree, you should be protecting it. The Norton Core Secure High Performance Router is an easy, affordable means to protect your entire network. Not only doe the Norton Core Secure High Performance Router protect against known threats, it looks for suspicious activity to identify unknown threats as well. The Norton Core Secure High Performance Router is convenient, as it only takes 10-15 minutes to set up, and then you can monitor your network at home or remotely using a computer or other web connected device, such as a cell phone or tablet. In addition to protectiong from outside threats, you can also mnitor your houysehold data usage. This is especially useful when you want to limit and monitor your child's Internet activities. You can easily manage each user's access to the network from your cell phone, giving you the ability to set a time limit a certain user can be online, as well as bedtime hours, so children can't get online when they are supposed to be in bed.

I've used all sorts of wifi routers, and I was able to hook this one up in parallel with my existing mesh system so that I could compare signal strength throughout my house. I placed it just about in the center of the house and I get strong signal in every corner of the main floor and throughout most of the basement, dropping off to about 85% in the far corners of the basement. That's impressive. Speed tests were also comparable, so I'm happy I'm not taking any performance hit. I did have a problem with my android devices losing internet -- during the setup, it recommends that you use different network names for the 2.4 and 5ghz bands, but I figured that all of my gear is new enough to be able to find the right connection. I contacted support, they understood the problem right away but still walked me through testing and troubleshooting so that I could understand how it worked and how to fix it. I was impressed with the support, and once I reconfigured it the problem went away. It also comes with a year of Norton Security, which is awesome. I feel like my home network and devices are really well protected now.

Let me just say I was very impressed with this router. The setup was very simple with the app. And the alerts of activity like newly connected devices suspicious activity very helpful, But I didn't care was the fact you lose most of the included features when the included subscription expires. All in all a very fast router with nice coverage with a lot of features. All they are missing is VPN. And its packages in a classy body.If you know Norton you n know they know security.

Norton has created an innovative product and packaged it within a very attractive design. They've bundled the security aspects that Norton provides within a geodesic dome design. It brings back memories of the geodesic dome from the World's Fair in Montreal. Set up was a breeze as I had my network up and running within 10 minutes. The app interface is intuitive and user-friendly. I've already received great comments from visitors. No one thinks this is a router. It's about time someone has created a modem that is attractive enough to put on your entertainment cabinet.

The Norton Core Secure WiFi Router is a decent router which offers some very unique features that most other wireless routers do not offer. The only problem is, the unique features require a separate paid subscription once the initial subscription expires. If you choose not to renew the subscription, the router will still function like any other router but you will not be able to use the more advanced security features that make the router unique. The router itself works well and isn’t noticeably better or worse than other routers I have used so the real selling point is the advanced security features which again, will only last a limited amount of time before a renewal will be required. These advanced security features really come in handy if you have many “internet-of-things” devices in your home as these sorts of devices are more susceptible to attacks since they often do not have their own security software. Overall, this router offers some truly unique and potentially beneficial security features if you happen to already have or plan on using “internet-of-things” devices but if that isn’t the case for you, you can probably find a cheaper router that performs just as well as this router does but without the added security features. Even if you don’t already have many “internet-of-things” devices, it seems like many devices are advancing in this new connected direction in which case it still might be beneficial for you to invest in this particular router.

The design of this thing is pretty cool then stick out in the room like a sore throat I'm like your typical router and it comes with some amazing features. We've had this kind of stuff in the past with what's going on in tech today but this thing is even better. Great protection, great service, great connection nothing goes on on my network that I don't even know about not even a possible intrusion and living in an apartment complex it happens. The Norton Core is a good idea, but it lacks some of the features that would make it great. It says it is for home or business, but I can't see it working for business, as there is no network configuration for LAN or WAN settings, and it cannot be configured to work with already established network settings. You must change every network setting in order to work with Norton Core, which if you have a larger network, is a real pain and takes a lot of time. If you were using the Norton Core for a guest network and do not need to connect to other devices, it would work well for that. Also making it seem unsuitable for business use is that the only interface is though the app on your phone (iOS or Android). It cannot be installed on a laptop or desktop computer. If a business used this and the one person with the phone was out of the office and unavailable, there could be a serious problem. One really strong advantage to the Norton Core is its powerful parental controls. You can set up individual user profiles that allow you to block by content, and control when the device has wireless access. You can set a certain amount of time that each specific user (or all users) can be on the network, such as 2 hours per day, and/or set the times of day that the network is accessible, such as between 9 am and 9 pm. After setting up the Norton Core, I have noticed that our network is somewhat slower. This could be due to the router scanning everything so closely in order to filter out the unwanted content, but we have had no problems with buffering while streaming Netflix, You Tube, etc.. The connection does seem to fail sometimes, requiring unplugging and reconnecting. It updates automatically and it seems to be doing this all the time, so hopefully one of the updates will fix the slower band width problems and prevent it from freezing up. The purchase price includes a 1 yr subscription to Norton Core Security Plus. According to Norton, after the first year, you will be billed $9.99 per month to continue the subscription. If you don't renew, Norton Core will continue as a high performance router, but all network, IOT & device level security features, plus parental control features will be unavailable. Since that is the probably the primary reason people will purchase this device, you're pretty much stuck paying for the subscription.

      Hi Todd,

Thank you for your detailed review of Norton Core, we’re happy that you took time to provide us with your valuable feedback.

Having a web interface to manage router settings potentially exposes you to serious security risks. To help eliminate these security risks, Norton Core only allows access to router settings through the mobile app. If you’d like to have access from multiple devices you have the ability to do so, provided that these devices use the same Norton Account to sign in to your Norton Core app.

As for the speed issues, we would like you to ensure that the Network Inspection setting is set to default, you can do this by launching the Norton Core app > Settings > Security > Network Inspection. We also recommend testing your speed at fast.com, the way we handle network traffic, some speed test sites may report a slower speed than what you're actually getting. You can also test your speed within the Norton Core mobile app.

We would like to collect some additional information regarding the connection issues, WAN and LAN settings you’ve cited in this review. Please reach out to our Norton Core Support team at 1-855-966-7866. If you would prefer not to call, you can reach out via social media, the Norton Social Customer Care Team can be reached via direct/private message on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/messages/t/Norton) or Twitter (https://twitter.com/NortonSupport) just remember to reference your review when doing so.

It’s feedback like yours that will be helpful for future updates and releases. We look forward to speaking with you!

Love the look of this router. Very futuristic sci fi look and nice white light at base. Signal is extremely strong. Wish it would also act as a modem lol but it’s a router so you can’t hold that against it. Not sure what happens after a year if you decide not to pay the small Norton fee but after recently being the victim of identity theft I don’t see myself stopping paying for this Security that this product provides.

I've always been a fan of Norton's antivirus software. It's my go to, and it's been on every computer I've owned for at least the last 10 years. With that being said, I was excited at the idea of a router from Norton. The name of Norton really gave me faith that I'd be getting a good quality product with excellent security. I've had several different routers over the last year or so. I'm constantly looking for an upgrade and the best product. Besides the fact that this product is from Norton, the look of it was the very next thing that caught my eye. Let's be honest here, most routers are just boring boxes that give us access to Wi-Fi. Up until now, I didn't know you could get more than that! This is the coolest looking router I've ever seen. Mine is behind my TV where my modem is hooked up, but it's still visible and is something of a conversation starter. People want to know what that thing is behind my TV. Now all of this to say, it's got the name and the look, but it also has functionality. This thing works! Set up was easy (like most routers these days), and I've had no experiences with bad connections or slow speeds. Everything functions as it should and I'm thrilled with the extra security provided by Norton. One of my favorite features has to be that the Core will identify if a device on your network has been breached and immediately quarantine it, thereby protecting the rest of your network and devices. I have two computers, 2 smart TVs, 2 smart phones, and various other devices hooked up to my network, so this was a huge plus in my book.

Upon downloading the app, every single smart home device, all of the smart mobile device, all of the tablets, all of the laptops, and security camera(s) system was instantly recognized, categorized and connected. The best part of this product, is t's capability for connectivity of unlimited number of devices, without sacrificing performance or bandwidth, specifically designed equipped to stream, download and handle substantial amounts of high speed media, and data at 4K, while using its powerful duel-core processor. My favorite past of using this product is I have not heard a peep from any of my kids expressing their devices are slow. Honestly, this is a well made product that accurately distinctively differentiates each connected device and amplifies more or less bandwidth so smoothly that its quite impressive. I am extremely content with this product and suggest you to get one, it will effectively galvanize your expectations.
