Okay, let me say first off that my five star rating is conditional.
You have to be REALLY good with tech to install this sucker.
I'm moderately tech savvy but I would never have been able to install the dragon software. This is one thing they just have to fix because it's ridiculously hard.
In fact for me it was no problem because I just had the main problem-solving guy from our company's IT department install it for me.
Despite the installation complexity, I gave it five stars because for the eight months I've been using it, it's just great.
It's accurate and it's easy to correct mistakes. I've no complaints with it at all. It's the best Dragon has ever made.
I've been using voice recognition, Mostly Dragon, For 17 years. I never type anything more then one short sentence. Every document, e-mail, etc. that I have created all these years has been done with voice recognition.
So, I have a tip:
With each new version of voice recognition software that I use, I have found that over time, The voice files get so huge and complex that they begin to degrade and then the software makes more and more mistakes and becomes becomes less and less useful.
So, what you can do is use the new software for a couple months to get its vocabulary just where you want it.
Then, back up your speech files and save them somewhere where you can find them.
When the software starts going all to crap, uninstall the software, reinstall the software along with your backed up speech files.

I like it. I need instructions on using in Windows 8.1. This is a good software program if you want to input words fast as you speak on paper and it 99% percent accurate, depending if you use slang in your language.

After typing huge amounts of information for many years, it's such a luxury to dictate. And you don't have to speak loudly. And it understands you if your voice sounds scratchy! Cool stuff!

I got this program to help record and transcribe my webinars as I put them together. I haven't used it to control my pc functions yet. What I found was : not as easy to set up with Windows8 took several reboots and uninstalling/ installing to get the included headset to work. Finally gave that up for a detached Mic. Learning the language of the tools...like saying stop or period after each sentence, was weird getting used to. Gave that up and manually edit the txt myself (at least I didn't have to type it). So much simpler for now, one day I'll get the hang of it.
All in all its done what I needed it too and I've used it for 6 weeks. Will update this post as I get more into the nuances and special features of the program.

My Daughter in 2010 was in Friends Car when that person driving fell asleep and hit a house head on at 55 miles am hr.She became a quadriplegic with no use of any part of her body except her shoulders and her mind. This program gave her a positive outlook and helped her to get back on track and on face book and E-mail and take some college classes on line. Its the best

I used earlier version on job for years, until retiring in 2009. This version is much easier to set up and train, has more extensive vocabulary, and substantially better speech recognition.

I cannot describe how much time and money I have saved using Dragon software. My conscious is much more at ease returning those emails and letters. It is blitzkrieg fast compared to my normal hunt & peck typing.
The program keeps getting better as I use it more and I am getting to know more commands.
I was stunned at how easy the set-up was. I expected hours instead of minutes. Will be great to give for Christmas gifts.

It is very helpful to some one who types slow. It is also helpful to jot down your thoughts just speaking into it and later edit. it does a decent job of transcribing but need good editing. Personally, it is useful for me as I am slow typer.

Does the job but I feel it should be a bit easier to use. I havent played with its options too much, which I understand are many. I use this at work and it picks up very well. I think I just need to load in some of my older transcriptions to enhance the vocabulary.

Super easy to install and set up. Works great with Office programs and takes a very short time to become proficient in operating by voice commands. Very pleased with the ease of set up and ability to turn mundane tasks into completed projects quickly.

I think it's been a totally possible camera seems to do most everything forming even focusing. I was surprised because it first seeing all the dials and adjustments in the digital screen display I thought I was in for a lot of learning. But most of the time I just point-and-shoot the camera does the rest, and by Dragon for my computer priceless, totally priceless. I just wrote this whole message talking to my computer it's totally off the hook.

Other than my many problems with my purchases here, I had hope for this one. This product was buggy, working properly only on occasion. Lately, it's been better. Not quite sure why. Either the product is learning how I speak, or I'm learning how to speak with the product. As far as a recommendation, I would do so with hesitancy.

This is a pretty good program overall but it takes some getting used to. I like the time saving aspects but at first it was a bit frustrating to keep going back to correct the text. After sticking with it, things got better and it became worth the buy. By the way, it shouldn't be called, "Naturally Speaking" because it requires more formal dialogue to really be at its best.

While the voice recognition / dictation works great out of the box, this program works even better if you take the time to "train" it using the built in reading portions.
As for controlling your computer functions (opening programs, web surfing, etc.) if you don't work with it all the time, and don't know the commands, you won't get the full effect.

I love this program. It became so easy once I took the tutorial. Now I use it in my business and it takes less than one half the time to do my
estimates.
