The Nvidia Shield TV Pro is a premium streaming and entertainment device that still holds up among top competitors. Despite its age of release, it still receives updates, can run almost any app that others fail to even install, and is customizable on a level that few other devices can match. I previously owned the non-pro version and the additional features such as AI upscaling and Dolby Vision/Atmos make this a great purchase. Beyond streaming, it allows a user to also experience some light gaming and supports cloud streaming for PC titles via GeForce, Steam, Local PC Streaming (GameStream/Sunshine) and uses apps like RetroArch to emulate classic consoles (N64, PSP, arcade) in addition to titles available through Google Play. For connectivity, the Shield has one full sized HDMI that supports Dolby protocols, comes with 16GB of internal storage and will allow external hard drives and USB drives to connect using two 3.0 USB ports and even has a LAN port for hardwire internet connectivity - something very few other devices have! 3GB of RAM allow the Shield to run apps and services with hardly any lag and plenty of power. It also has Bluetooth protocols for syncing of other devices such as earbuds and controllers and there is a dedicated Nvidia app for smart device use. There is a Shield TV gaming controller similar to XBox and Playstation that can be purchased separately unless you find a bundle deal on eBay or other marketplaces. The remote is backlit for ease of use and even has a remote finder feature! You can download an app like Button Mapper to reprogram the dedicated buttons on the remote (Netflix) that can be used to avoid accidental launches. The Shield may seem dated and pricey but for the money, it is one of the BEST devices you could have for your entertainment ecosystem.

I'm not a gamer I purchase this for streaming Movies and TV Shows.I must say the 4k picture quality is great that without the upscaling turn on.Easy set up althought I dislike the keyboard that could be improved,as I stated before I'm not a gamer so I can't speak on that part off this device but I heard it was great also according to the reviews on (YT).As for Download and Streaming speeds we know that depends on your service provider and the tier of mbps you have with them although it seen Streaming does work faster with my NSTVP. The player looks great and the control remote feel good your hand.

I am torn about this purchase. I have a Sony OLED with Android TV built in. The SOCs (processors) Sony chooses for these expensive TVs is a joke. They basically pick the lowest end processor and RAM combo that will run the current version of Android TV. This means as you get updates it just gets slower and slower. It also means you're at the mercy of Sony deciding whether your TV ever gets updated (I'm stuck on Oreo forever). So since no manufacturers have been kind enough to allow us to upgrade the built in SOC in our TVs, the next best option is a standalone streaming box. I used the Nexus TV for years...but that didn't age well since it was x86 based and several modern apps don't work for it such as Amazon prime video. Also, it's ancient. Google has let their TV OS get very stale, similar to their WearOS watches. They've never made a true first party TV box...and although "project Sabrina" (Chromecast Ultra 2 w/Android TV, basically) is probably right around the corner, it sounds like it's going to be fairly underpowered. So if you want a reliable device running Android TV that does 4k, HDR, gets updates quickly, has reasonably powerful (though dated) hardware....the Nvidia Shield is really the only option at this point. I enjoy the AI upscaling and the performance while emulating everything from Arcade classics to Nintendo 64 to PSP games. I've even gotten several GameCube games to work well...but not all unfortunately. I feel like anyone who is considering blowing $200 on this already knew everything I said...but hey, maybe this will help someone choose one way or the other. I'm still going to buy the new Google TV dongle that's coming out this year...if for no other reason than to compare the performance. But you have to remember that this is basically a Nintendo Switch...no other TV boxes at this point come close.

Picked this unit up after putting it off for several years. The main reason for the purchase was to get a few more years out of a Samsung mu9000 that was just not able to work correctly with it's current onboard OS. So this Shield turned the tv into a display unit and took over the heavy lifting. I had one concern which I was able to address with this unit and that was to not have extra remotes to do different things. I wanted to just be able to turn on the TV, receiver and anything else with the Shield remote. Thankfully this is possible though the mu9000 occasionally takes over with Samsung SmartTV app by default when switching from a gaming console back to the Shield. Aside from that issue related to the TV itself, the Shield has been such a breath of fresh air. The fact that the remote is also backlit and does so when it's nudged or moved, is also a modern and much needed touch. It's allowed for modern codec's to be sent to my Yamaha RX-A6A and even allows for other apps to be added to actually share photos and video from both Android and Apple phones. The Plex app integration on this is also far superior to whatever was offered by Samsung on my mu9000 and it's instant, responsive, and has zero lag. There is quite a bit of customization I did have to do to get to this point of usability and it required quite a bit of googling and research to figure out what settings to adjust and where they were as the only manual that came with it was only covering very basic setup and hookup, not the actual GUI or menu system. It was completely worth the upgrade and after the mu9000 get's replaced with something else, the Shield will continue to be the center of my home theater setup.

I upgraded from a 3rd Gen Fire Cube & I’ve been using the Nvidia Shield TV Pro for a while now, and I’m genuinely blown away by how well it performs. The picture and sound quality are incredible, and it makes streaming in 4K a breeze. I primarily use it for Stremio and IPTV, and it handles both without breaking a sweat. I use projectivity launcher and the interface is smooth and fast, and I can easily navigate between my content with no lag or stuttering. I did run into an issue with the first unit I bought—it was a bit of a lemon, it was super laggy and it performed much worse than a cheap fire stick. But I reached out to Best Buy for a replacement, and they made the exchange super easy. The new unit has been flawless, and I’ve had no issues since. Their customer service was excellent, so I can’t fault them for the initial hiccup. All in all, the Nvidia Shield TV Pro is probably as good as it gets for streaming boxes. Whether you're watching movies, sports, ppvs, or even gaming, it’s a top-notch experience. Highly recommend it!

I know this system is slightly dated, but somehow still up to date. Have had it for about a week and simply, amazing. Extremely fast when switching between apps, amazing sound and picture quality. Sporting a 5.1 surround set up via receiver. However, I do have a sincere gripe; for being Android/Google based, for some strange reason it actually lacks apps. My older Roku died, which this replaced, has more apps, in fact Roku has ALL my streaming apps where the Google store doesn't. Google really needs to address this issue, and what I mean is this: I can download apps from my cell which exist in the Roku environment, but don't exist in the Google/Android TV app store. What's up with that? So as amazing as the Shield is, I'll literally lose channel's/programming via lack of streaming apps. Lastly, the homepage literally looks like that of a Firestick, which I personally is too busy and kinda sloppy. You do have a little more control in personalizing the Shield, though. Again, if Google Tv has your apps, you seriously need to consider the Shield, a sit os so smooth and seamless. I may just keepnit as a back-up.

This thing is a must have! I hated my 800 75" Sony. Awful color and poor 4k res. Now, it's like a whole new high end tv. Well worth $200. The resolution, color and OMG the smallest details are now amazing! On 1080 Ai upscale you can split screen to see different and it's huge. You really have a difficult time telling 1080 from 4k. Don't think twice, get it! The menu options are amazing and simple. JP.

Not gonna lie, I bought this mainly for gamestream, then as streaming device second. Gamestream is a headache to setup but once you have 1) really good gaming rig, 2) fix whatever bugs there are, this is capable of gamestreaming 4k60 even with a very fast 5ghz wifi (I have Ac3150 beamforming router with AC1900 beamforming capable card on the rig). So far I've played Rocket League, a few Assassin's Creed games, and tried Battlefield V Campaign for the lol. Stutters only come if someone walks through the hallway between the router and the office where the Desktop is situated. Aside from that, the 4k60 stream is excellent and the wireless xbox360 gamepad input lag is bearable to singleplayer games. Don't bother trying on games that require no input lag at all. The AI Upscale is a pleasant surprise and Netflix standard streaming looks like a legit 4k stream. Compared to when I stream directly from my Smart TV. On the other hand, my 4k HDR streams from Disney Channel is working flawlessly with my HDR capable TV. On another note, my Dolby digital sound is going through the the shield, then to TV then to TV's HDMI ARC connected to a samsung Dolby 5.1 Soundbar + wireless soundwoofer & rear speakers. So I can attest that Dolby passthrough works. Not sure about Dolby atmos though. It is also good for running android games or if you subscribe, Nvidia's GeForce Now. Also, the price is pretty high up there so the only worth it specs from this device is the gamestream and the AI upscale. If you can't justify that cost, you should try looking at other cheaper streaming device then. Side note, turn on HDMI-CEC on the shield and your tv. This will allow you to turn on the Shield, the TV and the Sound bar all at the same time with just the Shield's remote. Also, turn on the HDMI-CEC volume control (alongside in the TV settings). I only need the Shield's remote through this setting to turn on, and even mute and adjust volume.

I have been hooked on the Nvidia Shield for over two years. I enjoy retro gaming and streaming. This me Shield is good at both. I have an Apple TV 64 GB. Since I stated using the Shield. I have never used the Apple TV since. For $199 you will not find a better streamer/gaming setup.

Awesome product. Love it ao many settings can be overwhelming, but take your time and learn all the tips and tricks that are out there and you too will be shocked at how well this streaming device is. This is a great product for the techy in your life. But dont turn away cause i said that, its just this is the best out there now and can do so much for everyone in the family. Plus if you use this make sure you dont hook up your tv to the internet and just go through here. That way the tv does not get boged down by so may updates. Like our phones do after so many couple of years. This device is the best in so many ways. Small and easy to put anywhere out of site out of mind.

If you have fast internet a 4k tv and a decent sound bar you want this. The upscaling alone makes this worth it. I was using ps4 for streaming and everything else. I still love my ps4 but shield tv is much more versatile in terms of content and connectivity. I still haven't really scratch the surface. I do have a few cons though, mainly having to do with customization which is something android is known for so hopefully we will see more options down the road.

I have been looking at the Nvidia Shield for a looooong time and finally decided to buy it as a birthday present for myself. I have several streaming devices in my house from Roku, Google, AirTV, and Xfinity. The main things that attracted me to the Shield are Dolby Atmos support in Netflix, built in Chromecast, and the AI upscaling. All of my favorite apps work - Pandora, Hoopla, Peacock, YouTube TV, and Disney +. I am still figuring out the various features but am not sold on the upscaling as it seems to over sharpen most of the source material. Time will tell if my opinion grows stronger but I like most of what I've seen from this device.

Best streaming device 10 years running. I have personally owned one for 10 years and it's still works like it did when I first bought it. Nvidia makes the processor for the Nintendo switch, so they are the creators of their own processor which is a great one. It also has descent amount of ram and storage. It has adoptable storage, in which, you can easily add more space.

U can't say enough about this product! I love it!! The capabilities of this thing is incredible and gives you the ability to work with the Android system in being able to do whatever you want with it. I mainly use it to stream for watching TV shows and movies, but you can do so much more, including using apps like YouTube, Cameras around the house, NAS -Storage, gaming, old system games, Android apps and more. You will need extra storage if you plan to use it for gaming and adding additional apps. Storage is adequate for most people, but once you start learning more, you'll want more storage. Highly recommend over the Fire stick or any other android streaming device. #1 Android streaming device!

I tried a lot of streaming devices over the years but the Nvidia Shield TV Pro is on a completely different level. The performance is insanely smooth — no buffering, no lag, apps open instantly and everything just runs the way it should. The AI upscaling is a game changer, it makes older content look sharper and more detailed than I ever expected. Gaming through GeForce Now is a blast and works better than I anticipated. The remote is solid and the design looks great sitting next to my setup. Android TV gives you access to pretty much every app you could want. My only minor complaint is that it’s a bit pricey compared to other streaming sticks, but honestly the performance justifies it completely. If you’re serious about your home entertainment setup this is the one to get — no regret

The NVidia Shield TV Pro has made cutting the cord so much easier and less stressful! Having been a long-time (over twenty year) subscriber to Dish Network cutting the cord was something that came up for consideration with each and every annual rate increase. We were often held back by the large amount of recorded content stored on the DVR's hard drive. Well thanks to the pandemic and the shutdown of most all productions we managed to burn through all recorded content and began turning more and more toward online content. It was at that point where we came to realize that we could drop Dish Network in favor of YouTube TV, keep local and 90 percent of our regularly viewed channels all while saving nearly fifty percent on our monthly bill! The NVidia Shield TV has been an absolute pleasure, with the ability to install nearly any available streaming application. YouTube TV HBO Max YouTube iHeart Radio Pandora Amazon Prime Video VUDU ...and so much more! There are games, music, & weather apps all at the press of a button, and setup was a breeze. The 4K UHD video combined with Crystal clear multichannel audio (including Dolby Atmos some on supported apps) is a massive improvement over and above Dish Network, and the small footprint of the NVidia Shield TV device takes up less space, uses less energy (due to it being 100% solid state i.e. no moving parts)! The NVidia Shield TV supports Google's Chromecast for sharing content directly from a mobile device, it has Google assistant built in for quick and easy voice control, and has the ability to connect with my home's Google Home speaker system for whole-house audio!
