Good price, poor build
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ll start with what everyone wants to know: can it play pubg with respectable FPS. The answer is, yes. I was averaging 51-56 fps on low-medium settings. There are a lot of cons with this laptop, which lead me to returning it after 3 days. First, personal thing, amd Gpu software is atrocious in comparison to nvidia. I’ll never own another computer with an amd GPU. Second, the screen is pretty terrible. The bleed is noticeable, but not a deal breaker. Third, this thing has one of the worst thermal management I’ve ever seen. And that is the corner you don’t want to cut when making a gaming computer. I was able to play pubg, with my laptop on fire. No big deal. But trying to play the game that it comes free with(far cry 5) my computer auto shut off after 15 minutes due to over heating. This wasn’t a one time thing either. This is ultimately why I returned it. Also, do yourself a favor and don’t skimp our on an SSD. Sure you might save money, but the speed of this particular laptop without an ssd is slower than any computer I’ve ever owned. Including computers I owned in 2002. Avoid this, and omen for that matter. They make cheap quality builds that may look fancy from the outside, but are completely trash on the inside.

Overheats At Purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really want to believe this laptop is a good laptop, but I've been fighting with Best Buy and HP support for going on 2 months now. I've exchanged the laptop once already, and both laptops have the exact same issue. Running games sits at over 100 degrees Celsius on the processor and graphics card to a point it hits the thermal max, and shuts off. I feel like I purchased a $1200 brick. Now they want me to send it in for repair again, but will not extend the warranty for the time I haven't been able to use this laptop. I really must suggest, as a technician myself, do not buy this laptop. The price for the equipment inside is really too good to be true.

No support from HP on 2 faulty batteries.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HP support is a joke, I have had nothing but trouble trying to get a battery problem resolved. It took 4 times contacting HP support to get an appointment for HP to replaced the battery . Service was scheduled for March 16, between 5-8pm, the technician never called or showed up to replace the battery. I have reached out to HP and the service company 3 times each with no reply, no re-scheduling. they sent me a new battery, i installed the new battery and then 3 weeks later the new battery is dead. now with the 2nd dead battery i am getting no response from HP. I have contacted them 16 times via email, 3 different HP facebook pages, HP website. no one has responded from HP. I spent $1,200 for this laptop. This will be the last HP product I purchase. I am beyond mad about the lack of service I have had.

Trash
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this laptop for a month or so until very recent the laptop freezes on almost every games! Passed the return time frame so I contacted HP, the guy told me that it was the graphic card driver not compatible with the current 1804 windows 10 build and told me to do a clean installation which I did. I tried 3 different windows 10 versions from 1607 to 1709 and 1804 and different versions of graphic card drivers from both the HP and the manufacturer (AMD) and still ended up getting blue screen of death and freezes with different error codes! Contacted HP again and they recommended me to send it in for repair because the technician from HP support had no clue or whatsoever why the laptop crashed! I sent it to the service center a couple days ago and was told that it’s a hardware issue ‘motherboard and ram faulty’ and need to replace parts!!! WTH bestbuy and HP why would you sell defective product ???? I mean you guys are big companies, are to trying to ruin your reputation? This is waste of time and money! I will never buy from these guys again!
