I had an older Panasonic beard trimmer that performed pretty darn good but the guide broke, so it was easier to upgrade than find replacement parts. This newer version is 10x better than my simple $25 version. Beard guides are much more sturdy, depth selection has multiple choices and battery life is excellent. Have always been a Panasonic fan, so this was an easy buy for me. BB had the best deal over the holiday sales.

Having a beard for over 20 years now, I've gone through a number of these devices. My first impression was just taking it to the hand - it's compact, feels solid & well engineered, and comfortable while in use. The rotating adjustment dial has solid "clicks" to it, so you know it's always where you want it to be. In use, the trimmer cut cleanly & neatly with no indication of being under load. One thing I appreciated is at the lowest setting without a guard in place, I can clean off my neck below the beard line without leaving the appearance of stubble - not all trimmers will cut this close. The next feature I liked is it runs noticeably quieter than any other trimmer I've owned - I can be in the bathroom and still be able to listen & comprehend the weather & traffic reports in the morning. I also appreciate the upgrade to a lithium battery that'll run for an hour. There's only so many outlets in the bathroom, and I always find myself de-plugged in favor of my wife's hair drier. Now I only have to think about it once a week. Also, this device will run while plugged in if the battery is down - you'd be surprised at how many trimmers don't do this! I also included a photo of the unit under running water, you can see it has a pass-through for the water to flow inside. Not a big thing, since the head easily snaps off for a more thorough cleaning, but still, a nice feature. Very happy with this trimmer, thumbs up to Panasonic for the nice engineering. Oh - nearly forgot - there's an owners manual! One of my pet peeves is getting a device & seeing "download the manual here." Either that, or there's no text, just undecipherable hieroglyphs. This is a fully functional and understandable manual. Thanks again, Panasonic!

Great beard trimmer. Very sharp and easy to clean.

I don't do an awful lot of beard trimming usually. I've got an old close-shave unit with a flip-out trimmer, and a pair of clippers that I'll take to the beard in an effort to clean up edges. Not the best tools for the job, but they've kept me from jumping on board with yet another hair trimming device. I did not know what I was missing. The position of the blade is probably the biggest benefit to me. It's easy to position so that I can properly see what I'm doing in the mirror. It's also powerful - the hair that forms my beard is coarse and thick, and this trimmer slices through it like nobody's business. There are four attachments included. Three for length, allowing you to adjust your cut length between 0-30mm, and one that covers around a third of the blades, meant for fine edge trimming. The 0-10 attachment is what I find myself mostly using, because I cut my sideburns and moustache to within that length, but the rest of my beard is longer than the attachments, so they're not much use to me. For men with shorter beards, I'm sure they make getting a good clean cut very easy. Included is a basic travel bag, which will keep your shaver neatly separate from the rest of your items. It's not big enough to include all of the attachments (even adding an extra one is a stretch) but most men will probably find themselves only needing one for travel. You also get the standard lubricating oil and cleaning brush. On the subject of cleaning, this thing is a breeze. The trimmer shield pops right off and you can brush or rinse it clean. It's water resistant, so putting it directly under the faucet is perfectly fine. Battery life is excellent. I charged it up on receiving it and have gone through numerous trim sessions without needing to plug it back in. I'd definitely feel comfortable leaving the charger at home while going on vacation or traveling for a work conference. Overall, I'm very pleased with the performance and utility of this beard trimmer, and would definitely recommend it.

Make sure you think before you clip. I used the default guard and a medium length (based on the dial) I way over estimated how short it would cut. It just grows back. This cute a beard super fast, so think about that also. The shaver came charged which was nice, but you can’t tell how much charge it left and that is not super helpful. This was also pretty quiet. I have other face/beard trimmers which make much more noise and vibrate more. This fit into my hand pretty comfortably and did not tire my hand out. As you can see in the picture there are several guards. This says for face but I wonder if it does hair. I have not shaved in the shower, I do not have a mirror and need to see what I am doing. I have immersed it in water and use the sink faucet to clear the blades out. There is included oil to keep it lubricated. I will have to read the manual and see when I need to use it. I am not perfectly happy with this. This is no indication of the charge level, so you don’t know when to charge it. The plug itself is large, I call it outlet creep. So have plenty of room. Having this charge by USB would have been nice. Also a stand to hold it would have been nice

The Panasonic ER-GB96-K can easily cut all type of beards, its stainless-steel blade & heavy-duty motor can manage thick long hair. This trimmer is ideal for both professional and personal users. The Bad: Attachments are a bit clunky to use. Key features are rotating trimming wheel on the trimmer itself that adjusts trim length according to the comb attachment you are using (A, B, C) & with this easy-to-use system you have a choice of up to 58 trimming lengths. Trimmer is rechargeable & cordless with almost an hour of cordless operation; device can be used while plugged in A/C outlet. (a lot of other cordless trimmers do not have this feature for some reason?) Has power indicator & takes 1 hour to fully charge. The ER-GB96-K is waterproof along with its attachments which makes cleaning it a breeze. A slider switch on detail trim attachment allows you to select the direction where you want to make precision trimming for advanced detailing. In the box you get the trimmer, four attachment combs, travel bag, cleaning brush, oil, A/C cord & instruction manual that is highly detailed but accessible. Blades are exceptionally sharp and cut though my dense beard like butter with no snags. Also noticed that the trimmer while operating is much quieter than others I have owned. Build quality of this product is good since it is constructed with sturdy premium plastic that has good grip in the hands. This is the best trimmers I have ever encountered and a far cry from the long line of cheap trimmers I have purchased in the past. You can tell that this device was engineered by professionals who gave their input for features & design.

Want a good custom length trimmer? This may be the one for you. Right out of the box it is ready to use. Just oil the blades up with the included oil. Very nice that they include 3 attachments for 58 precise cutting lengths (0.5mm-30mm) and a 5mm detailing attachment. Being able to run water through the trimmer makes cleanup a breeze. Rinse, remove blades, let dry, and oil before next use. I can see myself using this for a very long time. My first trim I really liked the difference in detail that each adjustment allowed. The manufacturer states that 1 hour of charge time equals 50 minutes of dry use trimming which is great to carry on trips without having to carry the charger. Speaking of carrying, it does come with a carry case but it really only fits the trimmer and 1 attachment installed on the trimmer itself. I would have liked to have seen something that holds all the accessories and maybe a more quality carrying case instead of the cheaper one included. Who is this for? Anyone who needs to have a clean trimmed look! No matter your facial hair style or length, you can really define yourself with this tool.

This trimmer has a ton of setting/length options! I really like rotating the dial to quickly set to the length you want. There's multiple plastic guards to jump up to the next size settings and a fine trim work attachment. Motor is strong and it trims very well. It didn't snag at all and using it without any attachment for line work was comfortable on my skin and produced nice tight lines. It is ergonomic, fits well in my hand, and was comfortable to use. It’s easy to clean (waterproof, so just run it under water). One note is they recommend you oil the blades before and after EVERY use. This seems a bit overkill to me, but I’m guessing the point of that is to add to the lifespan and sharpness retention of the blade. Only thing I felt it is missing is that there doesn’t appear to be a travel setting to keep it from accidentally turning on in your suitcase, but the button is a little recessed and it comes with a soft travel pouch. Haven’t traveled with it yet, so we’ll see. Overall pleased with its versatility.

This is a fantastic trimmer. Does what it says and holds a charge well. Couldn't be happier.

Husband usually has a longer beard, summer weather he wears it shorter. This razor works for both lengths and even a smooth, clean shave when he gets crazy and wants just the "line". Also loves the percision around his lips. Able to trim mustach neat and prevent hair from growing to long and touching his lips. Easy to use, multiple trimmimg lengths and works fantastically!!

First, my favorite feature of this trimmer is that you can use it while plugged in. This is a small detail, but the last three trimmers I have had could on either be charged while plugged in, or be used unplugged. It matters because I have had several times where I needed to shave, the battery was dead, and I had to wait for it to charge. Thankfully, with the Panasonic ER-GB96-K, I don't have to worry about that any more. This could be a lifesaver. Additionally, it is rated to run for about 50 minutes on a charge, which is about perfect for a weekend trip. As for actual use, the unit is quiet, so as long as you close the door, you can shave, even while your loved ne is asleep. Beyond that, the unit is easy to use, can we rinsed off in the water, and has 58 length settings, allowing you to style your beard nay way you want with great results. I have a thick beard, and this trimmer can handle it without issue, and without pulling hairs, which can be awful. The contours of the design feel great in my hands and make it easy to have excellent control when shaving.

Great trimmer that works as advertised. Wish it came with a stand or better storage solutions, but that's not enough of a critique to deduct any points.

Variable height adjustment works well. Battery charge good. Sufficient power. Charge chord is nice. Just the razor with out height guard doesn’t get down to a close shave.

I needed a new beard trimmer as my trusty old one which was also a Panasonic had had enough, and this new model came along just in time. Compared with what I am used to, this has some nice unique features. I already had the same type of twist to adjust height control on my previous unit, which works flawlessly here. The biggest difference is the 3 different combs allowing for anywhere from 1-30mm in cutting lengths, and the special mustache trimming comb. I keep my beard trimmed relatively short most of the time and adjusted to 5.5mm for my first use. I was very pleasantly surprised by how good my facial hair feels after trimming with this. I had become accustomed to my beard feeling a little sharp and prickly after a trim, and it turns out that was because my old trimmer was mostly ripping and shredding my hair rather than cutting it. My beard feels much softer and smooth to the touch after just one use. Popping off the comb allows me to edge my jawline and using the mustache comb made trimming under my nose much easier as well. The mustache comb is adjustable to allow for use on either side of my face. It is waterproof making for easy cleaning and speaking of cleanliness the way it trims it keeps the trimmings in the comb rather than ejecting whiskers all over the sink which I also really appreciate. I cannot yet speak to how long a charge will last, but I did a full trim right out of the box without any warnings about battery life so I have little doubt it will do well. The included zip up storage bag makes keeping the attachments in one place safely much easier. I happily got the best quality trim I have had in many years in my first try and will enjoy rather than dread keeping my beard looking fresh from here on out. I highly recommend this trimmer it is top quality and does a great job.

This is a very nice beard trimmer. It comes with 3 different sizes of comb attachments and 1 precise trim attachment, for a total of over 50 different length options. The way the combs attach is very nice, since the adjustment is built right into the trimmer itself. It makes it very unlikely that you would accidentally change the length mid-use. I have had this issue with other trimmers, but not this one. The trimmer itself is very powerful and cuts through even the thickest parts of my hair with no issues. I have had other trimmers get clogged or bog down, but this trimmer was able to handle it all with no issues. The battery lasts more than long enough to get a few good trims out of it, but I would charge it after every use just to be safe. But even if the battery runs out mid-trim, you can still use it while plugged in, so that's a plus. Maintenance is also relatively easy. The combs easily detach for easy cleaning under running water, and the trimmer itself is IPX7 waterproof, so you can rinse it under water as well. They also provide a little brush for quickly brushing hair off the trimmer. The blade itself also snaps right off for easy cleaning, and they also include a small bottle of lubricant to keep the blade nice and lubed up for smooth operation. Overall, there really isn't anything I don't like about this trimmer. It is a joy to use and works great.
