Customers express satisfaction with the NN-SV79MS microwave's Alexa compatibility, inverter technology for even cooking, and its convenient size. Many appreciate the ease of use and the quiet operation, along with the sleek design. However, some users find the clock's behavior, which only displays during and shortly after use, to be inconvenient. The overall feedback highlights a positive user experience despite this minor drawback.

High tech microwave that heats and cooks very well

I love this Panasonic 1.4 cu. ft. countertop microwave. Before I get into the actual review of the microwave, I have to give 2 thumbs up to their customer service department. I had a slight issue with this microwave, but they were extremely helpful in helping me resolve my issue. Out of the box, you will notice how light this microwave is. This is important since it is a countertop and most likely you will move it when you reconfigure your counter space. Second, I love the design of this microwave. It looks very high tech and just has a very slick design to it with the stainless steel.
Heating and cooking: It does a marvelous job at both. I thought I would miss not having numbers on the pad, but the way this microwave is designed, heating and cooking foods just got much easier. The Quick 30 second button makes choosing a time limit very easy. You can choose the power and time with the microwave button along with the main knob. We do alot of popcorn bags in my house, so the Popcorn button was a must when choosing a new microwave. This microwave produces very will popped bags. The main reason why I got this Panasonic is the inverter technology. This technology allows your food to be evenly heated throughout. No more cold spots!
Alexa feature: This Panasonic countertop microwave comes with over 100 Alexa commands. This feature is very easy to set up. You will just need the Alexa app on your phone. It took me approximately 2 minutes to get this feature set up and it is well worth it. My wife and I are constantly shuttling our kids to activities and those really busy days it is so nice to program the microwave with the help of Alexa. I can tell it to start warming up my food at a certain time and length. When I walk in the door, our food is ready to be eaten. It has been a true time saver!
Overall, I am highly satisfied with this Panasonic microwave. It looks nice, does a great job of heating my food and it has great tech features. If you are in the market for a new microwave, I highly recommend this Panasonic.

Can’t Beat Inverter Technology
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
TLDR; Inverter technology allows the microwave to cook at a steady, constant power level. When using any of the automated modes (auto cook, auto defrost, reheat), its built-in sensor technology senses steam and moisture and will make adjustments to time and power level. Alexa integration surprisingly makes using this microwave a lot easier than pushing buttons on the microwave. You still can be old skool and specify a cook time and power level, if you choose.
I’ve always been a fan of inverter microwaves and every time I encounter one that is not (at work, at a friends house, etc), I get a bit triggered because I know I’m going to either have unevenly heated or over-nuked food somehow. For those not familiar with inverter microwaves, the best example I can think of right now is your oven at home. When you cook anything in your oven, you set a specific temperature, say 350 degrees, and you confidently put your food in to bake. This is the behavior of an inverter microwave when power levels are set. Now imagine if you could only set your oven to the max setting (500 degrees maybe?) and had to sit there and turn the oven on and off to get as close to a 350 degree temp as possible. This is your conventional microwave when power levels are set. And if you haven’t noticed already, your conventional microwave will cycle on and off to achieve the set power level. As you can imagine, steady, constant heat is what we always strive for when cooking anything, whether you’re on a stovetop, grilling in the backyard, baking in the oven or even using the sous vide. Panasonic has been innovating and improving on inverter technology for the last 30 years.
So the microwave, yeah? The NV-SV79MS Inverter Microwave has been the best microwave I have ever used to date, mainly because of its automation from both a sensor cooking perspective as well as a smart home perspective. First, in combination with its inverter technology, sensor cooking allows the unit to decide how to adjust time and power levels to achieve that perfectly heated, cooked food. For instance, if you’ve ever cooked oatmeal in the microwave, you’ve probably had lava overflows or sat in front of the microwave to make sure it doesn’t overflow. With the NV-SV79MS, you simply turn the main knob to the Oatmeal preset, press start and walk away. In all my testing thus far, I have not been able to get my typical oatmeal bowl to overflow. What’s even sweeter is now I can cook two bowls together and I'll still come out with perfect oatmeal bowls every time. Along with the oatmeal preset, there are a total of 20 preset options from coffee to frozen entrée to melting butter. Panasonic doesn’t want you to go traditional with time-based usage and rather have you trust them to use their presets. Along with the presets is the defroster mode called Turbo Defrost. Using the same techniques, it utilizes the inverter technology and sensor cooking to make sure your defrost is perfect. The only thing you need to specify is the weight so that it has a baseline to start from. Most important thing to remember is that the microwave is not cycling on and off; it’s providing constant level power to ensure an even defrost.
The NV-SV79MS can still be used like a traditional microwave in that you can set a specific time and power level. It even has a “Quick 30” seconds if you’re just looking for a quick nuke, and a few pushes of this button will add an additional 30 seconds of time. For us traditional users, we know this is our go-to method of using a microwave and it’s still on the unit if you choose to use it.
Last thing I want to touch on is Alexa integration and how surprised I was with it. The best way I can describe its use is like having a person at your home who knows how to use the microwave, and you telling this person what you want to heat. Alexa will set up the microwave for your specific request instead of you having to press the buttons on the unit. I feel that Turbo Defrosting will be the best use of Alexa, as you can specify weight and product (3 lbs of ground beef, for example). So you would say, “Alexa, defrost 3 pounds of ground beef” and it’s off to the races. In the same fashion, you can also tell Alexa to reheat a cup of coffee, an ounce or more of dessert, or pizza with no quantity specification. There is a whole page and a half of commands found in the manual. But let’s not forget that we can even tell Alexa to microwave for X minutes and Y seconds at power level 5, if you need to do that. Alexa setup was very easy and can be done in the Alexa app on your phone as it will automatically detect the presence of the NV-SV79MS. I keep an Echo Dot in the kitchen to utilize the Alexa commands with ease.

Great Alexa integrated microwave....

This microwave is great....
It is modern looking and has all of the bells and whistles with being able to use with Alexa.
The outside is all sleek and modern with stainless steel.
Setup was a snap. I followed the setup with opening up Alexa and adding a device and scanning the QR code and it was all set up.
Use of microwave was super easy.... Back of the user manual has all of the commands and they are all straight forward to use. The typical commands had to be learned but was easy.
I used Alexa to microwave popcorn. I screwed up the first time because I overrode the time which I ended up burning my first batch. Second batch worked fine when. I left it alone.
Other foods are easy to cook. Frozen burritos etc.
Alexa worked great with the microwave. I think the integration is good. Panasonic did a great job with integrating with Alexa and getting the commands to work flawlessly.
Non Alexa button function is super easy. Dial and button use is easy.
I would recommend this product. For both the Alexa tech integration and how nice it looks.

Not Your Old Type of Microwave, Bells and Whistle

The Panasonic - NN-SV79MS 1.4 Cu. Ft. counter top microwave oven is both aesthetically pleasing and a fabulous cooking machine with so many bells and whistles. Aesthetically, it is 100% stainless steel and sort of low profile to easily fit either on the counter top, with plenty of space to fit under upper cabinets, or fit on a metal shelf, as I have done, in my office file room. Even though this counter top only microwave easily fits under the upper cabinet, it is nice and tall and wide enough on the inside to easily fit a good amount of food with the 1.4 cubic foot measurement.
Most kitchens have built-in microwaves these days, so if that is your application this is not the model for you. However, if you need a counter top version than this is your machine-just make sure that you will be placing it on a solid, stable surface with a minimum of 3 inches from any wall and 12 inches above so that the microwave gets adequate ventilation while in use, see attached pictures of all microwave sides, including the right sides with air vents. There is actually a fully functional owner's manual that comes with this product, which I can really appreciate, versus the current day versions mostly found, but harder to access on the manufacturer's website.
So, one of the best features is that this Panasonic microwave is an Alexa device and is easily connected to my Alexa app. In fact, there is a separate Alexa command cheat sheet that also comes with the unit and I have taped it to the shelf that this unit sits on. I can simply talk into my smartphone's Alexa app or into the Alexa device itself it is located in the microwave's vicinity. The reason that the actual Alexa device must be near the microwave is that it needs to know that the microwave's door was recently opened and closed with the user putting in the food that needs to be cooked Again, the original set up of Alexa on the microwave was easy enough to set up to my WiFi network. Once the blinking You know that the WiFi is fully connected and ready to go once the blue WiFi icon stops blinking and is steady. This feature is way cool, as well as, all the auto-program cooking presets programmed in and the sensors that determine the amount of time and heat level to heat up leftovers, etc. and how to heat based on the what is being warmed up and you can also do this by weight by literally telling Alexa you are heating x food at y weight. The sensor for the auto-cook can do anything that you need it to do- there are 20 operations for foods to do things such as melt/soften, auto reheat, sensor cook and thank goodness the owner's manual literally lines out, step by step, how to do all of these functions.
I recommend the purchase of this unit because the cost is not bad for all the fabulous bells and whistles programmed in even though there will be a period of learning on how to use this fully functional machine. However, you can literally command Alexa to cook this food for that amount of time with this amount of weight. Have fun.

This item is recommended for folks who use integrated Alexia technology for their household because controlling your microwave with voice commands are the draw here. Other than the fancy tech features, it is a good microwave overall with fast even cooking & premium options that you would expect from this price point. Note: the 1st microwave I received was defective & got it replaced with a fully working one.
Negative: Instructions could be better especially concerning the Sensor Cooking feature. There is slight learning curve when using manual cooking with the knob, but I did get used to it.
Setting up Alexa for 1st time is quite easy by scanning QR code with app then adding it to Alexa. I had no issues adding the microwave to 2 smart devices that use Alexa. Since I use Alexa with other products & feel using voice commands is way more convenient than manually hitting buttons.
I cooked a frozen burrito with command “Alexa cook frozen burrito” which came out perfectly along with many other frozen entrees from Trader Joes. You can traditionally cook by just hitting the microwave button & set time/weight. Cooking can also be done by selecting a preset or Sensor Cooking. (Still a little fuzzy on how to use this?) This microwave is must faster in the cooking dept than my prior one, with dishes coming out evenly cook “Inverter Tech” especially when you defrost meat.
So far, I am pleased with it.

Microwave -Modern Looks & Skills & Does the Job

The Panasonic “Smart” Microwave with inverter is a convenient size for most things microwaved. It has a glass turntable and cleans up easily. Connecting it to Alexa was easy with the scan code inside the door of the microwave. It automatically set the time with the app.
I found it easier to do the button controls because that is what I’m used to doing. I loved the dial feature and how easy it was to select the auto programs and weight. I also loved the easy way to set stages all at once so you didn’t have to stop what you were doing elsewhere and come back to start it again.
Alexa worked well with the commands that I gave. You could say things like “Alexa, cook for 5 minutes” or Alexa, add 30 seconds to microwave”, or “You could give commands like “Alexa, reheat 1 cup of coffee” and it was programmed for the time needed and would automatically start running. It could also talk to you and ask questions as needed for weight of an item or size of package.
I feel that the more I use it the easier it will be to use the Alexa commands. It definitely has the capability of helping you complete a meal in a timely manner with planning and preparation. The microwave itself does a very good job at preparing the task asked of it. It looks as good as it works. I would highly recommend this microwave to anyone.

The Future of Heating Food

This is the most advanced microwave I have ever owned. It is straight out of a sci-fi movie. Whether it is the sensor cooking technology, the Alexa voice commands, or even built in safety features, this microwave impressed me and overwhelmed me at the same time.
Size: It is a large microwave and best suitable if you have a lot of counter space.
Appearance: It is stainless steel and blends in well to the kitchen along with all other stainless steel appliances.
Performance: 10 power levels from Low to High. There is also a warm option that you can have the microwave go into after cooking time has elapsed to keep the food warm. I never had an issue with my food being too cold or not cooked enough.
Features:
Sensor Cook: One of the best features available on this microwave is the ability to sensor cook based on weight and food type. I had a frozen dinner that I wanted to try this on so I got the weight from the box and programmed the microwave to sensor cook for that weight. The microwave starts heating without a timer. Once the microwave senses a burst of steam, the timer starts. My frozen dinner cooked in precisely the amount of time that the box recommended and it came out perfectly.
Turbo Defrost: I may have incorrectly used this feature to defrost half a pound of burger patties but it got the job done. My burger patty was starting to actually cook instead of defrost only. I recommend resorting to the manual for defrosting.
Voice Commands: One of the coolest features I have seen on an appliance is the ability to use voice commands. Set up was quick and simple with the QR code inside the microwave. Once set up, I asked Alexa to cook microwave for 30 seconds and it starting cooking! I asked Alexa to stop microwave and it stopped shortly after. Even when you ask for Alexa to defrost certain meats Alexa will ask you for the weight to ensure it is cooking or defrosting optimally. One note is that if the microwave hasn't been opened in a long time, the voice commands won't work.
Safety: This microwave allows you to child proof it by simply hitting the start/stop button 3 times consecutively. With this feature on, you can't start the microwave until you press the button 3 times consecutively again. It is not a feature I will use now but will come in handy in the future.
Overall, I am very impressed and satisfied with this microwave. I was also overwhelmed by everything it can do and I'm still discovering new things everyday.

Impressive technology for evenly heating/cooking

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This is my first inverter technology microwave oven, and I am extremely impressed with how it heats/cooks food. The technology does get the heat to the center of any food item. This model has Alexa built inside, making it convenient when you start the microwave near the kitchen or any room in the house. The power cord is high quality, heavy-duty, and has an acceptable length for any countertop or table, 3.75 ft (45 in/ 114cm). Outside dimensions: 17 in wide, 20.5 in length, 12.75 in depth. Inside dimensions: 13.35 in width x 13 in length x 9.15 in depth. The door frame has stainless steel on the front, and the window has a nice little dark tint. The roller with the place is easy to insert and always stays put.
The control panel has a roller knob, which is for Start/Select, Cook Time, Weight, and Auto/Sensor Cook), and six buttons (Microwave, Popcorn, Turbo/Defrost, Quick 30 (second), Timer/Clock, Stop/Reset). The cooking time election is with a roller knob, so there is no numeric pad on the panel. A feature not very common with other microwaves is the Genius' built-in sensor, which reheats a meal with one push of the dial without selecting power and cooking time. The sensor technology measures the food's humidity and calculates the necessary time. The sensor can heat 1 to 4 cups of coffee, milk, or soup. Also, the sensor can cook potatoes, fresh/frozen vegetables, frozen pizza/ entrees/ dinners/ breakfast/ nuggets, oatmeal, rice, pasta, and frozen pancake; for best results, make certain food item is within the specified weight range. The operating manual has a couple of charts with instructions and recommendations for various food items and which function to use.
It is easy to set up with Alexa. You download the app on a mobile device, plug the microwave (which will start the setup mode), select add device on the app, follow the instructions to scan the QR code on the microwave door frame, and the app completes the connection. With Alexa, you can start the microwave with voice commands such as cooking for a specific time (e.g., "Alexa, microwave/cook for x time and y seconds), stop/ pause time ("Alexa stop/pause the microwave). Using Alexa on a microwave is great for those who use it for cooking (not just heating) because it allows multi-tasking. You could be making dinner, and you need to defrost a chicken for cooking, but at the same time, you are chopping vegetables; with a busy hand, Alexa would save you time and avoid leaving marks on the microwave control panel. Some items require weight or quantity, such as defrosting chicken breast; "Alexa defrost one lbs of chicken breast." Giving Alexa command is much easier than going through all the different buttons or knobs. My son's favorite command is "Alexa, microwave/cook 3.5ox of popcorn,"; and he is impressed that they don't get burnt and that almost all kernels get popped (except 3-5 kernels). My favorite use is warming my frozen breakfast eggwhich (bread-free sandwich), "Alexa microwave/cook frozen breakfast." Compared to my old microwave, this Panasonic inverter tech does a fantastic job at cooking my frozen breakfast evenly and at the right temperature without burning edges and cold centers.
Overall, I like this new inverter technology microwave with Alexa. It is straightforward to use, has many functions, and the best part is that it does an impressive job at evenly heating food. Product technology is unique and looks well built.

This is the perfect Microwave for any Household!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Panasonic NN-SV79MS 1.4 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven with Alexa integrated may be the best microwave for your home. The 1.4 Cubic Foot internal space is plenty for almost any food item you can cook besides a big turkey. Using the Pepsi can as an object we all know the size of, you can see in the photo how large the cooking area is on the rotating and removable platter.
The ease of cooking with this Panasonic is beyond simple, especially with the 20 pre-programmed options, I have used the coffee one more than a few times in the last week, the coffee comes out perfectly hot and ready to drink. I gave it a shot with 2 baked, well, microwaved potatoes wrapped in wet paper towels and it did make the potatoes ready to eat in about 13 minutes and once I added butter and sour cream, they were on point and not overcooked, so that was and is a huge win compared to the last one I had.
The unit has a Quick 30 button for 30 second increments along with a popcorn button, just pick the size of bag, Turbo Defrost, a Timer and the main button being the Microwave. It took a second to understand how the time needed to be set as it is unlike any other microwave I have used in my life. Usually there is a separate power level button and then you set your time and hit start. This Panasonic is setup to use the Microwave button to select the power level then after a few seconds, you use the dial knob at the bottom and rotate it to select the time you desire for the item you are cooking.
BUT WAIT! THERE IS MORE! ALEXA!!!!!
Yes, that is right, over 100 Alexa commands at your fingerrrr, I mean voice. Setting up the microwave is super easy on your WiFi because of Alexa, open you Alexa app on your phone or tablet, scan the QR Code and in less than a minute, your microwave is attached to your network and Alexa. Now, I bet you are wondering what Alexa can do that makes this such an important feature on a Microwave. To be honest, I did not know at first, I went into using this product as a Microwave, not a Jetson Household item of the future.
My new favorite thing is to put my breakfast sandwich into the microwave right before I go into the shower and now I tell Alexa to "Start Microwave for 2 minutes at 5:20 am" and boom, it does it. Now by time I am dressed and ready for the day, my sandwich is hot and ready to eat before I leave for work. Are your hands covered in cooking ingredients and you do not want to dirty the microwave buttons? Close the door with your butt and tell Alexa to start microwave for the time you need and go wash your hands.
The last thing I can say works pretty well, not perfect but very acceptable and worth the mention is the "One-Push Sensor" that cooks or reheats your food to a great temperature that is ready to eat. I had to look up how this worked because I did not understand how it does and it goes off the moisture being released and the temperature of the steam. That is pretty sweet tech and soon or a later, we will have the perfect pizza microwave with this kind of tech.
If you are looking for a solid Alexa controlled microwave, this Panasonic will suit your needs for everyday fast and easy cooking.

I have been very impressed with the overall quality of this Panasonic microwave and especially the integration as another smart electronic item in my home setup. The microwave comes in a very nice stainless finish that does not seem to be a magnet for fingerprints soo far. There are 6 buttons and a multifunction dial. The unit by comparison is not very heavy and may even be considered fairly lightweight. In order to take full advantage of the unit you will need Wifi & some sort of Alexa enabled device such as an Echo or Dot but you do not need these for the unit to function. The overall setup is fairly straightforward and does not take very long to complete once paired with the Alexa app on your phone or tablet. Once setup is complete you can now take advantage of all the unit has to offer. The Alexa integration is the real show here, you can command the microwave to;
Reheat for -- time
Pause
Add -- time
Defrost -- lbs of -- meat
Cook a frozen pizza
In all, there are supposed to be over 100 Alexa commands that can be recognized. All in all this is a very nice unit that performs very well and at a reasonable cost.

Alexa, Microwave for 30 seconds

If you’re looking for a microwave that works seamlessly with Alexa, then you’ve found it. I use Alexa to control many things, so adding a microwave is great for me. From my usage, I’ve found no delay between asking Alexa to do something and the microwave starting. I also have an Alexa in my kitchen, so it works well for me. You can still use the microwave by pressing buttons, but I find it faster asking Alexa in most cases.
If you do not have Alexa or rarely use voice connected devices, then this may not be for you. Sure, the microwave works like a traditional microwave but if you are not going to use the connected feature then you do not need this specific microwave. The actual microwave function works just like any microwave I have owned, so it does the job, but the main selling point is the connectivity. The size is good and fits what I normally microwave even though this is smaller than a previous one I had.
One you get the box and take it out, setup is simple. Just open the Alexa app on your phone and scan the QR code when adding a device and you are up and running (with the time set on the clock as well). My only issue so far is just knowing what commands will and will not work. For example, I said microwave for 90 seconds at 30% and it did not work. You need to say at 3 instead of 30%.
Overall, if you want the connectivity then this is a great option. If you are looking for just a microwave, then you should get something else.

Good Countertop, Microwave with Voice Commands

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Panasonic NN-SV79MS microwave is one of the latest countertop microwaves from Panasonic. It boasts medium to large 1.4 cu. Ft. capacity and powerful 1200-watt inverter technology for quick cook times all while integrating voice command compatibility for “hands free” cooking. Let’s take a look at how this microwave performs in real world usage and how it stacks up to a larger, overhead unit that is larger and more powerful.
Dimensions:
Exterior (Sitting on counter):
Width: 20.50”
Height: 13.00”
Depth: 16.75” (Depending on how this is setup, it may be slightly deeper as the cord is thick)
Interior (Max, Wall to Wall inside):
Width: 13.50”
Height: 8.50”
Depth: 15.00”
Turntable measures about 12.25” in diameter.
*Note the above interior dimensions are max measurements with a tape measure. Items may not be able to spin freely if they are much greater than the turntable.
In the Box:
- Microwave
- Turntable Assembly
- User Guide, Voice Command Guide, Warranty, etc.
Setup:
The unit is quite heavy taking it out of the box. This microwave is NOT on the small side of things so make sure you have ample counter space for this unit using the dimensions above. The cord is BEEFY and measures about 24” long.
Once plugged in, the microwave prompts you to setup voice commands. There are a couple ways to do this shown inside the setup guide. We used the QR code inside the door to scan with the app and it found it after two attempts. It connected to the same Wi-Fi as the phone you are using to pair it and after a couple minutes, the microwave it ready to use. It automatically set the time and everything.
Usage:
Using the voice commands are somewhat comical because you do have to place the item inside you want to microwave first. So, for example, you want to microwave a bag of popcorn. Place the bag inside, and say “Microwave bag of popcorn” *What size?* “2.75oz” *BEEP!* Microwave starts running for set time depending on the weight of the popcorn. The menu on the microwave itself if setup fairly well so doing the same function yourself on the machine is just as fast (or faster) as using your voice to do the same thing. I understand that this could be handy if your hands are dirty but again you have to open up the door to put the stuff inside first which negates some of the benefit but if your hands are dirty I guess you are only dirtying some of the microwave.
The microwave has inverter technology which claims to heating items more evenly and thoroughly than conventional microwaves. I didn’t notice a massive difference compared to our overhead microwave. It cooks well and seems to have similar performance to more powerful microwaves. Times didn’t vary greatly so I would say the performance is on par or better than similar microwaves of this wattage.
The finish of the microwave shows a TON of fingerprints after just a short period. This not a fault of this microwave but stainless steel in general. The button to open the door is also hard to push which is a pain sometimes depending on the situation. The LED interior light isn’t super bright either.
Menu/Buttons:
Overall the menus are intuitive and the buttons are easy to push. The quick functions are as expected with this microwave. I didn’t find anything missing I wouldn’t want to use all the time. The quick 30 is nice and adds 30 seconds upon every push of the button. The dial is a little cheap feeling but does the job. The display turns totally off after only a few minutes so the time goes away too. This might be able to be changed in the settings but I didn’t find it if so. The *BEEP* is loud and clear like most microwaves.
Overall:
I was happy with the performance of this microwave. My only warning is in regards to the physical size of this unit. Make sure you are able to place this microwave safely on a sturdy surface using the dimensions above. Outside of this, the button for the door is too firm to me but maybe this would break in a little over time, maybe not. Other than this and the stainless finish showing fingerprints I believe it’s a solid performer. I would only consider the voice commands more of a “bonus” than a true reason to buy this microwave but this all depends on what you like and how you use things.
Pros:
- Larger Volume
- Powerful
- Menu/Button Layout
- Voice Commands
Cons:
- Button to Open Door Too Firm
- Fingerprint Magnet
- LED Interior Light Not Overly Bright

Next gen Microwave that is SMART(Alexa), Genius (sensor that automatically adjusts power and cooking timing) has finally arrived from Panasonic. Let’s see how this microwave differs from the traditional microwave out the box and its performance.
What’s in the box: Microwave, Glass turntable, Roller ring, user manual
Setup: Super easy setup. Microwave is wrapped in plastic and packaged well. Just remove the sticky tape and connect the power cord, insert the roller ring, and glass turntable. To connect with Alexa, just open the Alexa app on the phone, click add new device, search microwave, and select the Panasonic microwave from the options. When prompted to scan the barcode that is printed on the microwave behind the door, and it just adds the microwave to account and is ready for voice prompts. This microwave has more than 100 voice commands to make cooking or reheating easier. Just say Alexa start microwave for 1 minute or stop microwave for easy access.
It also has easy to operate dial and buttons like turbo defrost, delay start and timer, Quick 30, popcorn, stop/reset, 20 preset menu items.
This microwave has a invertor technology and sensor that detects the steam from the food as it cooks and adjusts power and time settings accordingly to ensure that food is heated consistently and evenly from edges to center.
Overall, great powerful 1200 watts 1.4 cu ft microwave simple to use, very fast, cooks’ food consistently, SMART voice activated, spacious interior, sleek stainless exterior that will not disappoint anyone who is looking to add this to their kitchen countertop.

An average "smart" microwave

With modern appliances becoming smarter with each iteration, you figure the basic purpose that the appliance would evolve as well... however, with the Panasonic smart microwave, it's two steps forward, one and a half step back.
The microwave itself looks great. Stainless steel finish (which attracts fingerprints like crazy), a screen, a few quick options, and a knob switch to choose numeric options.
Before you get started, you're directed to add the microwave to your alexa setup in the app. After setting it up, the clock on the microwave auto sets itself, which is a nice feature.
The inside houses a white led lamp which is a nice change of pace. Every single one of my previous microwaves had a nice yellow lamp, so it's a refreshing change of pace.
Here's where I see some flaws. First, you don't have a numeric pad on the control panel, neither physical or touch, so you're stuck using that turn knob to choose time settings. It's pretty annoying to have to turn it until you find the 3 minutes that you need to warm that bowl of pasta. I'm thinking that this is where they are encouraging you to use Alexa to control the microwave.
I tried using Alexa, and it's a fun gimmick, but at the end of the day, that's what I view it as. I have to prompt alexa, say what I want the microwave to do, then I'm asked for how long... I would honestly rather go up to the microwave, and do it manually. I don't see the huge added benefit that having a smart microwave offers.
In terms of functionality, it's a nice microwave, heats up my food and drinks without issue.
I wish it had a touchpad (Who doesn't offer a touchpad these days on their appliances?) *Sarcasm* but it would have been a nice design decision.
I do miss having a numeric pad.
Aside those two gripes, it's a serviceable microwave... I'm hoping that the next generation of smart microwaves have those two missed components.

Hay Alexa, warm up my coffee

I've always prefered Panasonic inverter based Microwaves (my 3rd in 20yrs), because they are accurate, they last and are innovative. The inverter technology was innovative 20yrs ago, a Smart Microwave is innovative today. It took me about 1 minute to add this microwave to my smart house (70+ devices). Just bring up the Alexa app, select add device and use your camera to capture the QR code just inside the door, wait a few seconds, and tell the app what room the microwave is in. That is. I could not wait to show my wife how easy this was to use, I put in a cold cup of coffee, and said "Hey Alexa, reheat 1 cup of coffee", a few seconds later the microwave came on with 80% power and 1 minute time selected, and the countdown began. Litterly hands free, except putting the cup into the microwave. I could have put in more than one cup in and it would have adjusted the warm time automatically, based on the quantity I specified. But like most new tech in my house, my wife shrugged her shoulders and said nice, and walked away.
Next I microwaved 2 cups of water, to see how powerful it was... it came to a rolling boil in under 2 minutes. Great! And for guests there is are shortcut codes, on a label adhered to the bottom front inside of microwave (see photo) just a simple list, easy to find. One thing to note, the wall plug connector is a bit oversized, it did not effect me, but had my outlet been closer to the counter, it might have. Another plus is the nice metal enclosure of the microwave, it is magnetic, so I can store my magnetic bag closers on the front or sides. I recently got another fingerprint proof appliance, and found it was not magnetic. So this was a plus for me.
I'm very happy to have found this smart microwave, the Alexa integration works very easily, once you recall the the key phrases, the secret seems to be identifying a number of items or size/weight of what your going to microwave. The turntable is almost 12.5" across, plenty large for your typical frozen pizza. Which I then tried with a simple "Hay Alexa, microwave frozen pizza" and it heated/cooked evenly.
A simply, smarter microwave.

It's good smart microwave that is connected to alexa and can be instructed on reheating time and etc. It can also be manually operated. The only thing i don't like is that it didn't have a clock that stayed on like what we had before. But overall, it's highly recommended

Panasonic Microwave Oven with Alexa?

Open box was discounted $104 and ad said excellent condition so I decided to take a chance. Oven arrived without any dents or scratches. I like the push in buttons and rotary dial over the usual touch keypad. 4 stars because I was unable to get Alexa to communicate. Otherwise it’s an excellent microwave oven.

My trusty old microwave bit the dust and I needed a replacement. After much research, I decided I wanted a voice activated microwave that worked with the Alexa app. The setup is SO easy that I was literally up and using the microwave in ten minutes. The unit outputs 1200 watts and is extremely efficient. It is a much smaller unit than my old one, but it definitely cooks faster and better! Some Alexa commands may take a little practice, but most items only require me to say, “Alexa, cook for X minutes”. I love that my microwave gets touched WAY less and the front stays cleaner in the process. I still have a few dishes to learn, but I am extremely happy with my purchase and highly recommend it to other potential buyers.

Wonderful countertop microwave with easy to use ALEXA Wi-Fi S/W Application that uses spoken voice-commands.
