    Perfect Universal Remote for PS4

This is a great little remote. The pairing of the device to the PS4 isn't terribly hard and depending on the other devices is just a matter of time. My only frustrations with the remote are how quickly it goes to sleep and how not all apps have built in compatibility for all functionality. However, these are minimal and with app updates I hope they will be addressed.

works as a universal remote for your tv and a blueray remote for ps4. works great. devours AAA batteries faster than i would like, also didnt have codes for my av reciever. if you have more than a tv and a ps4 i recommend a Logitech Harmony, you wont regret it. handles my ps3, ps4, computer, tv, av receiver, tape deck, phono, and 5 disc changer.

Ok, but PS3 remote was better

This remote is just ok. Unfortunately, other than the controllers or maybe a universal remote, I don't know of any other options. The PS4 remote is smaller and sleeker, but it is also missing some features that I appreciated on the PS3 remote. The one I really miss is the Input button for when I want to switch from satellite to the PS4. Now I have to find my tv remote to do that, so that is not as convenient. The controls to run the TV, amp and cable are still there. There are a lot fewer buttons to control DVD playback (no more slow/step forward or backward) and there are no longer buttons for audio, subtitle, angle, or display. Finally the remote apparently goes into sleep mode to save energy, so it's pretty annoying to have to wake it up after it has sat for a bit. All in all, it makes it somewhat easier when I am watching DVDs, but for an upgraded machine, the remote seems to be a step backward, and for more money to boot. I would reluctantly recommend this to a friend.

I love the remote. It was a little hard to set up TV and AV codes in remote. (have Sony for both) it did set up and everything works good. the one big thing you need to remember is that remote will disconnect from PS4. after some time but just hit the ps4 button and good to go. Also slow to turn on but just because it has to connect to PS4 first. Love the remote easy to use.

The remote works well to control my PS4, tv, av, and cable box... when its awake :( When watching a movie on the PS4 the remote falls alseep and you need to wake it up by pressing the ps or ps4 button before the pause or any other button will work. The other slight issue is there is no l2 or r2 button if you need it.

I picked this up for my PS4 so I could stop using my controller for the fact that I like to watch movies a lot and the constant turning it on to select the menu, pick the function I want, then close it again was sometimes a hassle. Might seem strange but I do like having everything flow smoothly for me so this remote definitely gets the job done and it stays on for a good while like 20-30min before you have to turn it on again. you can tell when its on when the upper right corner of the remote flashes red when you push a button on it. I don't use the full feature of it like tv stuff but im sure it works just as well. I have other remotes for my soundbar/TV so the universal part of this, I don't use it nor have I ever had a problem with connectivity issues regarding universal features such as TV spazzing out while using this remote for PS4. The quality feels good and smooth w/ an extremely soft textured feel (feels smooth), the buttons themselves are soft rubber but firm and no receiver is needed for this. you turn it on and connect it to the PS4 via the controller screen under settings. I forgot exactly how since its been awhile since I bought this but I wanted to try it out a couple "months" (2 years; I forgot) and make a good review on what the pros and cons were. I have to say that there really is no cons to this. It does what its supposed to, it helps me do the functions I want to by having instant access to pause/play/fast forward etc functions without having to turn on the controller. Works great!

Works just as you would expect it to, however setup can be a little tricky as the instructions don't match the screen prompts, but it wasn't inherently difficult to figure out. Only downside is if you have more than one PS4, this is a Bluetooth remote so it can only be programmed to one system.

We purchased this remote so we could use our PS4 Pro as a dvd player as well. The speed and upscaling ability of the PS4 exceeded our standalone. So in doing so when pairing it was pretty finicky and the first one I purchased did not work so needed to get another. The design is like that of old school box remotes that doesn't feelcas comfortable in the hand as say the Samsung new remotes or the LG magic remotes. It does its job though. I did learn while pairing the Samsung Q series remotes also work just fine to control the PS4 so we have been using that more than this due to the awkward size and shape.

I'm always looking for a remote to go with my gaming system because I watch movies in my down time. This remote does what it is supposed to and then some. I'm happy with my purchase and I purchased it at a time it was a good price. If you are thinking about this get it, what can hurt.

I bought this so my technology challenged father-in-law could operate the PS4 to watch Netflix. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because some apps don't work with the remote like HuluPlus. I'm sure HuluPlus will catch up soon enough :)

Nice not having to worry about charging the dualshock 4 constantly if you watch a lot of Netflix or are a playstation vue user but might want to invest in rechargeable aaa batteries since they only last a month or so. Also does not work with my lg mini hifi system

I didn't want to use my PS4 controller + TV remote while streaming shows, so I decided to purchase this universal remote. It has most of the buttons/functionality found on the PS4 controller. Pairing it took some time, but it controls my TV's functions as expected. One annoying thing is that I have to press the 'TV' input button to changing the volume. I've used universal remotes in the past where I can change channels and volume without having to select the input on the remote. Also, the remote seems to have some sort of sleep functionality. After being idle, the remote input needs to be selected before using again.

Its a pretty good remote, only thing it is missing is the shoulder buttons which would be useful for fast foward and rewind for apps that dont recognize those buttons. You dont really need this if your controller is nearby all the time.

Has more buttons than I think I'll ever need for a PS4 controller, but it works great and battery life so far is great. I'd probably buy the smaller PS4 controller instead if I had to buy one again. You have to wake up the controller after maybe 10-15 minutes of no use. It's not a big deal and if it helps save battery life, then that annoyance is a good trade-off. I use my PS4 to play movies, stream, and watch YouTube far more than actually play video games. Using this over a controller is a far better option and I don't regretting buying this.

Good remote for use on PS4. Only thing I don’t like is it disconnects automatically even when in use and shape buttons were removed from this version unlike ps3 version.

Love the remote. The only downside is that it goes to sleep after about 30 minutes. So if you’re watching a movie and it’s been a while since you used the remote and you want to pause, you have to press the PlayStation button to wake it up, give it a couple seconds to connect to the PlayStation, and then it works. Everything else about this remote is great

Love these remotes... in fact this is my second one (for my second console). They save battery life of your controller when you just want to watch movies or shows, or just not play games. All the buttons needed for the PS4 are on it and easy to navigate. It also can be used "universally" with a few other devices, and it's very easy to sync up and use with your console

This is supposed to be the "official" remote but isn't actually manufactured by Sony. I previously purchased the official remote for my PS3 when I first got it and had no problems, so I got this one for my PS4. Big mistake. For starters, I would have expected the button layout to remain similar on the remotes from one gen to the next since the controllers did, but that is not the case. This remote also has smaller buttons with a smaller print than the old one. Not a big deal except the PS4 is billed as a streaming device likely to be located in a theater room or living room. In my home, this room is darkened when playing back content and finding buttons on this remote is a challenge. Would it have been so hard to make them backlit or even glow in the dark? In addition to the visibility problem, the arrow keys make significantly more noise compared to any of the other remotes I've used. You could say I was nitpicking on those issues but it's hard to ignore the fact that this remote just simply doesn't work occasionally. Sometimes it can't turn on the PS4, other times it fails to wake up after it goes to sleep. Other times it stops working while you are using it. In all cases, pulling the batteries out and reinserting them usually gets it working again. When it doesn't, you have to grab the controller to use your PS4 and then turn on the remote. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a dedicated remote for a device that you sometimes need to also use the controller for. On top of all that, mine seems to love batteries quite a bit more than it's predecessor as well. Hopefully, this device is revised but until then I would look at other options like a universal remote from Logitech.

My summary cannot say it any better. I use my PS4 to watch blu ray movies and the VUDU app where I have a lot of digital movies, and Netflix from time to time. Basically, I watch a lot of videos on my PS4. The problem was that whenever I was watching movies I would have to use my gaming controller to control everything and by the end of the movie the battery would be less than halfway charged, which would get pretty annoying, plus my girlfriend doesn't know what buttons to press to operate it. I searched Best Buy just hoping there was some kind of remote and found this. I saw mostly good reviews, but some negative, but I gave it a shot. This thing is WELL worth it! First off, the fact it is a universal remote is amazing because I don't even need to get the TV remote out at all anymore, and the battery lasts so long and it automatically turns off if it is not being used, and then turns back on really quickly if need be. You can navigate everything on the playstation with the remote, maybe even play some games, as long as you don't need to use the joystick. It works so well and is definitely worth the price! I would honestly pay double the listed price for the product I am enjoying so much!
