Maybe this is operator error, but I bought this remote and was very excited to set it up with my ps4. We ended up not needing it because we got remotes with our cable, so it sat in a box for a year and a half. When I went to set it up today, it won't turn on. It's not even that I'm having trouble pairing it, it just won't respond to anything even with new batteries. There is no corrosion on the connections or anything. Maybe it's just my remote, but I feel like if it's simply sitting in a box it should still work after that amount of time. I am saying I would recommend it because I'm sure it's probably just my device because the functionality that it's supposed to have is pretty good.

Great remote. Easily synched with tv, sound bar, cable and of could the PS4. so much easier maneuvering with this remote vs ps4 controllers. Best remote I've ever owned.

I wish they would have made this remote with the same features as the PS3 remote. It has taken some getting used to but it just not the same.

My PS3 went kaput on me so I received the PS4 as a gift to replace it. Awesome gift! Went and bought the remote to go along with it. The thing I REALLY love about this remote above the previous version is that it's a universal remote....meaning it now controls my TV, Audio receiver, and the PS4. That is super awesome. Now I don't need 3 remotes in my lap all the time when watching Netflix. I also like that this remote "goes to sleep" and saves on the battery. The layout of the buttons is a bit different than previous model so it's taking some getting used to, but I'm happy about the purchase and very happy that it controls all my stuff.

Remote does what it's supposed to do and allows you to leave your controllers off. I was able to program it to my TV but wouldn't program to my surround sound, which is weird since its Sony. Only problem is I'm on my second one. First one stopped working for the PS4 but would work with the TV. Best Buy replaced and second one has worked fine.

Got this since it was made for my new PS4. The setup was a breeze. I can control my TV, Surround Sound and PS4 all on the same remote! Glad i bought it!

This remote is a must have for the blue/ray DVD feature on the PS4. The dual shock controllers are difficult to use when watching video.

This is a good remote with all the options and convenience for someone using their PS as their main DVD player and online TV viewing machine. The downside is that the back button (circle) doesn't work in the Hulu app so you have to exit and re-enter in order to choose different programs. Very frustrating when shopping for something to watch

Finally a much needed remote for operating the Blu ray player. Much better than using the controller for watching 3d and blu ray movies

It's a decent remote. Works well. One downside is battery life is pretty dismal since it uses BT for the system. The other downside is that it automatically shuts itself off after a relatively short amount of time, and it takes a few moments to wake back up during which the audio drops out momentarily. I got it for watching videos because the standard controller can be annoying to use as a remote due to its shape. There mat be a setting to change the sleep time that I just have yet to find, but the battery life is the real issue. It is abysmal for a remote. I haven't timed it yet, so I can't really give an accurate estimate. But I did end up getting a set of NiMH batteries to use in it instead. This is my second remote as well. The first one mysteriously up and died on me for not reason. I went to turn it on and the power light blinked once and never came on again. Fortunately, it was still within the return period, but it was odd.

I find this remote to be an essential addition to my ps4. Watching a bluray/DVD is much easier to do with this remote. It Is not really billed as a replacement for all of your remotes and it does not control my comcast xfinity equipment, but it does a fine job with an older pioneer receiver and a Vizio tv. All in all I have been very pleased.

I had one for the PS3 and when I upgraded to the PS4 I was waiting patiently for one. This makes the movie watching experience much better than using the controller. Definite purchase for those who like watching movies.

The remote works well to control my PS4, tv, av, and cable box... when its awake :( When watching a movie on the PS4 the remote falls alseep and you need to wake it up by pressing the ps or ps4 button before the pause or any other button will work. The other slight issue is there is no l2 or r2 button if you need it.

I got the remote because it is so much better than using a controller to watch netflix or play movies. Bluetooth has great range and you dont have to have it pointed directly at the unit for it to work. I just dont like that the ps4 disconnects the remote after too short a time if you dont push a button. But overall its great.

A must for users who use ps vue like i do makes it soo much easier to change the channels instead of always having your Playstation controller on draining the battery

Only complaint is that it is not a good universal remote for non-Sony televisions. Ooops and there's no back light on the buttons

Got this remote to run a few things..works ok for the playstation 4 however not being able to scroll on screen makes it difficult..operating other items was pretty easy..however main purpose was to operate a bose sound system and was never able to set it up..which was very disappointing but good feel for the remote and great size

I bought this one to replace the original one I have after one of my kids broke the battery door. I figured I’d buy a replacement before this model disappears, as I really like it compared to a newer, non-universal model that came out about a year ago. Nothing bad to say about it. I use it to control my PS4, Sony Bravia TV, and Sony STR-DN1080 receiver. If this revised model lives up to the improved, 25% more battery life, even better. Battery life would be the only minor gripe I have about my original release version.

It works well for a universal remote but the volume and channel buttons are not dedicated and you have to switch between modes.

I prefer to use remote for media over a controller. So happy to have this but disappointed that Sony doesn't make its own. PS3 remote is still the best. My two issues are the button placement (remote is long too) and auto shut off, so have press PS button and reconnect. These are not that big of a deal but worth mentioning.
