When using the PS4 as media player this remote is necessary for comfortable TV/Movie watching. Unfortunately, the remote quickly times out from inactivity. Almost every time you want to play or pause the video the remote has to reconnect which is kind of annoying.

Once I upgraded to PS4 from my reliable PS3, I started my search for a Remote for the PS4. I rather use a remote over the controller to maneuver around the home page. Once I noticed there was one available, I went to the store and purchased the remote. The remote was easy to setup and has made my PS4 experience so much easier. I recommend this remote to others who have issues with the controller when it comes to watching movies or using the different functions on the PS4.

Was using another remote that required a USB dongle and did not work well in apps.. this works Bluetooth and is wonderful. Will wake up PS4, works with PLEX and Netflix including Play/pause/rewind/ff buttons.

The controller works well for specific apps (namely Netflix) but is still not as useful as the actual Dual Shock 4. It some how is missing functionality when used with other apps. Hopefully someone will make a good controller for the PS4 one day but this is not it.

It would be nice if it had backlighting for the buttons. But it functions well for controlling the PS4, the TV and the receiver. Not the best remote I have ever used but it works and didn't take too long to setup. Now I am down to a single remote.

My hope with the remote was to make the bluray process easier for my family members unfamiliar with the ps4 and it worked out well. When I wasn't home my wife was still able to watch movies and stream tv due to the easy and simple interface of the remote.

Back when I used my PS3 as my Blu-ray/DVD player, streaming device, game console, PC video/music hub Sony came out with a universal remote for the PS3 that was fantastic. It connected automatically to my Sony TV and receiver with no prep whatsoever & controlled everything perfectly. It was so great I bought a 2nd for upstairs and another for a friend. One would think Playstation would only improve on that great remote for their PS4 version, but instead as the only universal remote available for the PS4 it is riddled with issues. SOUND CONTROL NOT EASILY ACCESSIBLE. Unlike any other universal remote I've used in the past 10 years (from cheap to expensive) this is the only one where I had actually select the AMP mode in order to adjust sound. It won't work if you're using the remote to control your PS4, TV, or other device without switching back & forth between 'devices' at the top of the controller. So if you use this remote plan to have to switch modes every single time you want to go from adjusting volume to doing absolutely anything else at all with it. LIMITED FUNCTIONALITY. It also didn't connect automatically to my Sony devices, but okay I went through the process of elimination with all the different pairing codes. When I finally got them matched, I found the menu functionality available from my PS4 remote was very limited compared to my PS3 remote. For one, I could no longer access all of the menus on my Sony TV. BATTERY ISSUES. I also realized this remote required a higher charge on the batteries before it became unresponsive than other remotes. I took the batteries that were working great in my PS3 remote & put them directly in the PS4 remote and it didn't manage to function (no button light up or anything). Put those same batteries in any other remote & they worked like a charm. I had to put in shiny new batteries before the remote would respond. So plan to get less battery life when using this remote. Inversely, the remote has to "power on" any time you wait too long between utilizing it, so expect delays when trying to pause or fast forward... all in the name of saving on battery usage. TONS OF MISSING BUTTONS. I found the PS4 universal remote was missing buttons that were on the PS3 remote. This remote has no 3D, angle, -/--, audio, subtitle, angle, display, slow/step bckwrds, slow/step frwds, L1, L2,L3, R1, R2, R3 buttons... they're all missing. I use audio, subtitle, & angle a lot so this was quite a shock for me. I really couldn't believe what an unusable piece of garbage this remote was. Obviously I returned it & will just have to settle for using my PS3 universal remote to seamlessly control every other device I have and use the game controller for my PS4... it's just so crazy.

It works well as tv remote. I also use it for my ps4 but when watching streaming movies it can be annoying that you have to press the ps button whenever you need to pause or stop (This is because apparently it disconnects if you don't use it for 20 minutes).

First off I do not use it as a universal remote it's strictly for the ps4 when I'm watching movies. It works real well but you do have to hit the ps4 button from time to time but i'm real happy with it works better then I was lead to believe by the reviews.

It doesn't always register that it is connected to our PS4 kind of irritating having to go in and manually reconnect it to the system to use it. Other than that it works great programmed to our surround sound and tv so I don't need 3 remotes anymore.

It works, but Sony could have done a little better job with it. Takes a little bit of time to turn on and connect to the PS4. Says it works with other devices and that's true to an extent. I can use it for some TV functions, but it will not actually turn the TV on so you will want to keep your real TV remote nearby.

This remote works for exactly the purpose I needed, to control blurays and video apps. I have a logitech universal remote do I don't know how those features are. If you want this just for video apps then I can confirm it works flawlessly.

I liked the ease of using this remote for watching DVDs, I don't need to turn on my regular PS4 controller but it loses connection with the PS4 every once in a while so I have to re-pair the 2.

So easy to use and set up! Works very well with our Vizio tv! Makes everything so much more simple to use!

The controller works fine with the PS4 Pro. It was very easy to setup with it. The only complain that I have is that sometimes you need to click on the PS4 button on the controller before being able to control your PS4.

Not sure if it bothers anyone else but I hate playing movies on my PS4 with the regular game controller. So this remote is a must have for me. Works for controlling my tv, too. If you're thinking about getting one, I would say go ahead and grab it!

Better than using game controller on most things. No backlit buttons help batteries last a lot longer. Works great. Easy is good. Game systems now stream TV content and offer TV web browser. Must have. You will be glad you bought it! Buy now.

Before I upgraded to the PS4 my PS3 was great for watching Movies, navigation within apps, playing music etc. with the universal media remote. However once I purchased this remote for my PS4 I had the same expectations but after using it the first night I ready to take it back. It doesn't work on all app's mainly VUDU for me as I have a small movie library. It appears that the maker PDP provides compatibility with apps but at a slow pace. They do have an option online to request what apps you want the controller to work for but I haven't heard anything back as of yet. In the end, I guess, once they make this controller more compatible with more apps the more useful it'll be for me.

This is good remote. My only gripe is that it doesn't control my BRD player.
