A great long string of lights. Easy to use setup and integrate with existing hue ecosystem.

I think it’s a pretty good product. Though there are a few that are similar that can be found online, I quite like the simplicity of these lights and the app it works with. The only annoying parts is the way to peel the tape off the back and the fact is was marked for $60 instead of its real price.

Purchase these to go on my bar. While building the bar I considered how I wanted to attach the lights. This 16-ft strip went all the way around and ended perfectly on the other side. Easily to control with my voice and Google. And it just looks awesome.

Easy to install and gives great lighting effects. I used it to light up a circular dome in our ceiling to highlight a painting. The different light effects cause a very realistic sky scene and we love watching it change throughout the day.

I absolutely love these Phillips Hue Solo Light stripes! They have brought so much FUN and utility into my home! What was once dark and shadowy under cupboards in the kitchen, now radiate with warmth and light! So cheery to be in….THEN you realize….I can change the color to anything I want!!! Pink for Valentine's Day…red, white, and blue for the 4th, or maybe green and red for XMAS or a cool blue for movie night! You can do it all!!! Once you buy one…you will want to buy more. I also look for new ways to use them. I started out in my kitchen but then I wanted a work bench light in the garage but didn’t want that old timey 1980’s neon monstrosity that hangs from the ceiling…Phillips Hue Solo light strips to the rescue again! I put them on the garage door rails that are in the 3rd car garage that I use as a shop of sorts (see pics). I love it. The strips are out of site (mostly) and keeps things looking nice. I also love that on Halloween I can make it orange and black and use a fog machine and give all the kids in the neighborhood a good fright! So many ways to use Phillips Hue!!!
NOTE: you will really want to get the Phillips Hue Bridge (although not entirely necessary) because with the bridge you can connect up to 50 lights if you only use Bluetooth…that number is 10. Now you might say well 50 sounds like a lot….consider this…front porch lights, back porch lights, lights in the house, under counter lights, Grage workbench lights….GET THE BRIDGE! Also with the bridge, you can turn on lights while you are in Mexico on vacation…bluetooth can't do that when you are far from home.
Over all, it the best lighting platform out there with an amazing ecosystem that blends seemly into my home ecosphere. It is stable and once I get the lights the way I like them I can set up on schedules ect. The app is also top notch and very user friendly. Set up is a breeze as well. The only thing that really needs consideration is wire maintenance and hiding the wires. Be thoughtful and really plan out where they will plug into and how many feet you have and where you will need to bend them ect. Once you plan it all out and get them installed….AMAZING and FUN!!!

This is my second Philips Hue lighting product, though I have yet to get a Hue bridge for my growing ecosystem. The Hue Solo Lightstrip comes in several lengths with the 33 ft (10 meter) being the longest with around 183 individual LED groupings. It includes the light strip, wall adapter with 6 ft long cord, and RGBWW controller. Installation is quick and easy by simply peeling the backing off the sectioned adhesive along the bottom of the strip and adhering to a clean, flat surface, then plugging in the controller and power adapter. While the strip can be molded to go around sharp 90° corners, be sure not to place any LED or soldered joint on the bend, as this may damage the light strip. You also should not bend the strip 180° on itself or twist it.
The LEDs themselves are ensconced in a clear, flexible silicone sleeve and can be cut to length in 13 inch intervals. However, it cannot be extended with an additional light strip and no jumpers are included if you want to bridge two cut pieces to span a gap. The lightstrip is able to output a maximum of 1700 lumens and can reproduce a wide range of colors. The strip is not waterproof, however, and can only be used indoors in dry locations.
Since I don’t have the Hue bridge, I’m only able to control the lights using Bluetooth. However, I was surprised to find that even without the bridge I could utilize voice control with a smart home AI assistant like Alexa or Google, as these devices have built-in Bluetooth capability. This means that my phone does not need to be nearby in order to use voice commands. By default, the device appears as “first light” when setting up voice control, but that name can be changed.
When using the Hue smartphone app I do have to be within 30 ft of the lightstrip to connect to it. I can turn the light on and off, control its brightness, set the color, or even set the strip to an animation in “effects,” for example, candle, fireplace, or prism (rainbow). When choosing a color, you’ll drag your finger across a color wheel until you find the color you want and can even save your choices as a named pre-set for later. If you just want pure light, there’s an alternate warm/cool wheel to help you choose the color temperature.
In the routines tab, I can set the light on a countdown timer or specific time to turn on, off, or flash for 15 seconds at a specific color and brightness. There are also options for wake up and go to sleep routines that will gradually fade in or out the lights at a specific time over a 10, 20, or 30 minute interval. I can also push firmware updates to the lights within the app and control all my Philip Hue Bluetooth lights in one place. With a Hue bridge, you would be able to create more complex automations that include other Philips Hue products, like their security cameras, for event triggers.
One thing to note is that if your power goes out, the light strip will automatically turn on when the power is restored. This is a bit of an inconvenience as during the summer and winter months our power typically goes out several times and often, multiple times a week if there are bad storms. If we’re not home when power is restored, the lightstrip would stay on for the entire duration until we return.
Overall, this indoor LED lightstrip performs as I expected it to. You can cut it to length, but unfortunately not extend it. You also cannot set it to default to an 'off' state after losing power. I’m able to change its color, brightness, and set it to a color changing animation, and it’s easy to control using Bluetooth via the Philips Hue app and supports voice control via a smart home AI. With a Hue bridge, it’s also controllable remotely via an internet connection.

I am an avid record collector and I have multiple shelves filled with hundreds of records. I’m sure you’re asking yourself, what the heck does this have to do with a light strip? Well, records are very thin and its very difficult to read the side of them, especially in a darkened corner of the room.
I had always wanted to add some lights to the shelves so I could easily see what was on them. But I wanted them to look good and not cheap or tacky. I also didn’t want to spend a bunch of extra money on hubs and things. So, when I saw this light strip from Phillips, I just had to give it a try! They claimed that you did not have to use a hub, you could also get integration with google or amazon devices.
I got the 33 foot strip because that was about what I need to light up all of the shelves I had. Out of the box you can tell these are a high-quality set of lights. They are the kind that have the rubber over the top of the LED strip to give it extra strength and durability. These aren’t the ones that feel like lights on a strip of paper that easily tears or breaks.
Installing the lights was a breeze. They have some great adhesive on the back that sticks very well to the wood shelves I attached them to. I wound them around the shelves and plugged them in. I was quite amazed at how bright these lights were. They completely lit up my record shelves so I could very easily read every single title.
I connected the lights to the hue app where I was able to cycle through different colors and brightness settings. I was also able to add the Hue skill to my Alexa device so I could simply say, Alexa turn on the record shelf, and the lights would come on. I could also say things like, turn the record shelf red, or turn the brightness down 50 percent and it would easily act out all those commands. I have no hub or anything like that, its all built right into the light strip! They do say that you can add this to a hub and get some more functionality, but for what I needed, these were absolutely perfect. I can’t recommend them enough!

These versatile strip lights are a perfect way to add additional light to nearly any space. They are easily setup and controlled with the Hue app, which is well designed and very easy to use. I've been using Hue products for many years now, and this is a great addition to my setup. The ability to use these without the Hue Bridge is a great feature, but if you already have a current Hue setup, or plan on adding more to it, having a Bridge is well worth it. Setting routines and the additional control the Bridge gives is very welcome.
Setup is very easy. Adding these was as simple as plugging them in and opening the app to realize they've been detected. After that you can assign them to a room in your house and immediately start using them.
The ability to cut these to a specific length is very useful too. I could see using these for many places throughout the house, as well as potentially some work projects, where we may need some lights to accent a stage design or something along those lines.
The lights have a great range of brightness and color variety. I also think the Hue lights colors are more consistent and accurate than that of other led light strips. The adhesive makes them easy to place nearly anywhere too.
One thing that I wish could be improved is the size of the power brick/control box piece that is near the power brick. They can make hiding the cable a bit difficult.
Pros: Easy setup, use, and control. Good color and brightness range. Can be used without a Bridge. Can be cut to nearly any length.
Cons: Power brick is a bit larger than I would like.

Light strips such as the Philips Hue are a cool way to add that touch of light and ambience to an area without the expense of having permanent ones wired. Unboxing and setup is simple with the Philips app and takes less than 5 minutes. You get 16 feet with this set, but you have the ability to cut these if you need them shorter. They attach with adhesive tape which is very strong and once it’s on it stays. Ive used light strips that can be cut like these and ones that you can’t and I prefer ones that you can as it gives a little more flexibility. I don’t have a Philips Hue bridge which is supposed to add more functionality so I can’t speak on that but the app itself is very good. The biggest reason for that is in my experience is how well the app and light strip work together. Within a second or two of opening the app, the light strip is ready to be controlled. I’ve used other brand of smart lights that would be hit or miss sometimes when trying to turn the lights on or off, which can be very annoying. With the app, you can set your own colors or choose from preset ones in the Hub scene gallery. The Philips Hue light strip are a great option for adding light to almost anywhere.

Philips - Hue Solo Lightstrip 5m - White and Color Ambiance. This 15ft long lightstrip can be used anywhere you want some splashy light effects, but for now, I’m trying it out attached to the rear of my new, family room 84” TV. This TV size works perfectly, allowing the lighting to fit nicely tucked away using whatever method of attachment you prefer. Philip’s strip has a strong adhesive backing but I wanted an initial temporary proof of concept. So, I attached Velcro pads along the back of the TV and used the complementary Velcro strip to “lock” the light strip in between. As you can see from the picture I included, it works. I need some finessing to the location of the strip, but it serves as my temporary test bed for a light effect display.
I used a direct-to-phone Bluetooth connection and the HUE Philips App for initial setup. Very slick and reliable connection with lots of features immediately available. I eventually linked to my Google Home and I can voice control a subset of features, including on/off, color selection, and brightness. I’ve included screen grabs from my iPhone to show the range of settings. Soon after I was up and running I checked for UPDATES, and sure enough, Philips has added some fun effects. Fireplace gives a slight flicker to a golden range glow to the lighted strips while the Prism effect rotates through all the available colors. I can use the color wheel to select individual colors and any intensity, which allows me to wash the wall with a color tone matching a movie’s dominant color. Added features like Opal, Candle, Glisten which change how the lighting pulses, changes color and flows along the strip. Then, there is a library of scenes, which Philips has created which all imaginatively mix effects and colors to create their own contribution to a party or an evening at home.
It’s all fun, easy to use, and atmospheric. Every element of your decorations and party atmosphere are brought into play.

This Hue Lightstrip can really make a difference in any darkened area. If you are looking to add a pop of color or need to brighten up a workspace, this is great for lighting any room of your home. I decided I needed more light under my kitchen cabinets and it works great. I already have a Hue bridge and bulbs throughout my home, so it was a no brainer to get this.
In the box you get the light strip, power cord and quick guide. The setup is easy. Make sure to have the beginning of the strip near an outlet. The cord is around 3 feet in length. I started in the corner of the kitchen near an outlet. The light strip has an adhesive on the back, so you just peel off the protective tape and stick it exactly where you want it. Be sure to think ahead of yourself when you adhere it to your particular space because you don’t want to have to keep picking up the strip and re-sticking it because the stickiness gets worn down. Make sure to stick the connector box up so that it does not weigh down the strip and allow it to fall along with the strip you have already put up.
The strip is flexible and will go around corners a specific way (as the diagram shows), but make sure not to bend it too much. If you find the strip is a little too long, there are guides on the strip as to where you can cut it. I ended up having about an inch too much where it could be cut, but it is hardly noticeable sticking out less than an inch. If it is not long enough, you can add extensions by connecting them via a small port on the end.
Once you have the strip up, plug it in and add it to the Hue app that can be downloaded to your phone. From the app you can change the color of the lightstrip to nearly any color under the rainbow (mine is set to teal to enhance the teal in my living room) and dim or brighten it.
Another great feature is that Hue works with both Alexa and Google. You don’t even need to use the app and can just ask Alexa or Google to change to another color, dim/brighten or turn the lightstrip off/on, without having to grab your phone, to whatever you desire.
This strip in the kitchen is great to use as a nightlight. When I get up in the middle of the night, I have it set so that I can see around the room enough to get a glass of water without switching on my overhead light.
I highly recommend the Hue lightstrip. The setup is simple, works with both Alexa and Google and looks great.

TLDR:
Philips has many HUE white and color LED smart lighting products on the market; this is a 5 meter (almost 16.5 feet) long white or color light strip. It is smart in that both the HUE app and a smart device such as Alexa can control it to turn on, off and change colors per instruction and times defined by the user. It is economical to operate, runs cool and lasts a long time since it uses LEDs. It utilizes the optional HUE Bridge to add the most smart control functionality.
Anyone who already owns a set of HUE smart lamps with a HUE Bridge is ready to go when purchasing this light strip. With the Bridge, using a Smart Speaker such as Amazon Alexa is as simple as giving it a unique name and speaking to Alexa to turn it on or off, change the brightness or the color and also programming timed home automation commands for when it turns on or off and on what brightness on which days of the week. With the Bridge, and using the HUE app or the Alexa app, these and other Philips HUE lamps can be turned on from anywhere you have your smartphone.
The strip is also controlled using Bluetooth connection to the self contained power adapter that plugs into an AC wall outlet. It uses 24 watts at full brightness of 1,700 lumens.
It also is compatible with Google Assistant (Google Home) in addition to Amazon Alexa, Apple Homekit and the HUE app.
It has a 2 year Philips warranty. It is strictly for indoor use; it is not weatherproof.
The strip is cuttable, can be installed to almost any cabinet, railing, or floor edge shape to add uplight, downlight or any other lighting effect to a room in any color. It puts out up to 1700 lumens when at full white Kelvin color temperature (the color of the light). The strip has a very tacky adhesive exposed by peeling away a strip. Note: The surface that the adhesive backed strip will be attached to should be thoroughly cleaned of any grease and dust so the adhesive will stay adhered and secure. The light strip itself is cuttable at indicated spots so it can be shortened if the area, say a top edge of a cabinet, is smaller than the 16 foot length. Note: once cut to a shorter length that “loose” cut off piece is no longer usable per Philips. That is a drawback IMO since by utilizing some sort of clamp on connector, possibly a thin power extension could be supplied to enable using the shorter LED strip in another spot if Philips made that.
The box includes a tiny paper pictorial instructions sheet with a QR code to scan for more complete instructions. That seems to be the routine today with many products that require the buyer to do the extra step to learn the full capabilities of the device. This booklet is packed in a small cardboard thin package that may be overlooked so open the package carefully and don't assume everything is just packing material to be thrown out. Save everything and examine it carefully when opening the Philips HUE package.
It is a great product for highlighting with color or for adding overall brightness to any room. The convenient feature of controlling it with a smart speaker, an app, or by programming it for on/off at certain times and brightness levels using the home automation via the HUE app (as well as via the Alexa app) makes it very versatile indeed.
