This is a ground breaking documentary. The thing that most people don't know is the amount of technology that had to be invented to even make this documentary. Low light high definition cameras that could capture video below the canopy of the rain forest or a high definition camera that could capture at 600 or 900 frames a second for the great white jump sequence. It is simply an amazing documentary and should be in EVERY blu-ray collection.

This will be the Blu-ray that you will use to impress all of your friends. Looks excellent on 1080p plasma. 4 discs provide hours of entertainment. Be warned that some of the footage is not in High Def. I guess they were limited in some of the shots. The majority is HD, though. Wait until you can catch this one on sale...pretty expensive and hard to justfy price even though it is a "must-have" for Blu-ray owners.

This is a must have for all Blu-Ray owners. It's the original version, not the US tv release. Great pictures and a learning experience for your family. Some scenes are graphic for children (animals eating prey). Overall highly recommend it for all! Don't pay over $70 and at times can find it for $55, yes even on Blu-Ray!!

Don't even bother with it on DVD. This is only worth it on Blu-Ray. The quality of the picture will make your jaw drop. My mom who could care less about Hi-Def said that this is the reason to have a Hi-Def TV. If you have a 1080p TV and don't have a Blu-Ray player with planet earth then I tell you to get one and dont waste your money on the DVD version. You wno't be disappointed with it on Blu-Ray.

Hands down some of the best visual spectacles you will ever see - all captured in high definition. Without a doubt worth the money. HOWEVER, Be aware that if you, like me, fell in love with the mini-series when it aired on The Discovery Channel, you might be a little disappointed. The Series was a Co-Op with The B.B.C. and two versions were produced. The B.B.C. version narrated by David Attenborough and The Discovery Channel (TDC) version narrated by the well known Sigourney Weaver. This is the B.B.C. version. From what I've found, the only way to buy TDC version first hand is through The Discover Channel online. Whether you buy this one or TDC version, you will be happy with your purchase and enjoy many hours absorbing all the beauty our Planet Earth has to offer.

Planet earth covers so many topics in nature that most people forget about, global warming and its effects, animals in their habitats, etc. I would recommend this dvd to anyone interested in the world beyond, and is also looking for something to share with their family. overall great purchase!

This is my first Blu-Ray video after we got our large screen HDTV with blu-ray player package. Even kids enjoyed watching this video with us. The views are awesome, and sound quality is very good too. Kids tend to care more on our mother earth after watch this video. Highly recommend.

This is an excellent documentary. I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend, as he loves nature stuff. I tend to get bored of these types of documentary, but not this one. It's so beautiful, it's hard to take your eyes off. The narrative is also very good. I recommend!

Would recommend for anyone with a decent Home Theatre System and Blu-Ray player. Priced great and worth so much more. Pick this up for anyone who likes to watch these kind of shows on a boring evening, they will not be disappointed.

This was an amazing buy for me. With it on Blu-Ray it is a much better quality. The picture and sound is amazing, and makes it much more enjoyable to watch. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone. It is very interesting to see the different parts of the world. You won't be disappointed! I wasn't!

Outstanding photography and excellent picture quality but I found myself having to fast forward too many times to get past the carnage. Just about every time an animal was the subject matter, the animal was shown fighting for its life. Too bad to, because otherwise a very enjoyable DVD.

this dvd is my favorite of all times. from the high def picture to the great places they show its all amazing. Most of these scenes you will never see in your lifetime and being able to whatch them in high def is as close as your gonna get. from large herds (100k+) moving to the artic circle.

Planet Earth is by far the best looking video that I have seen, period. The production is top notch, and every scene looks stunning. Its a great series to show what your Home theatre setup can do performing at its best.

I own a plethora of blu-ray's and this is my favorite. You feel like your in these exotic an remote places. If you have a big screen and surround sound, this should be the first blu-ray you should buy.

I never saw this series on tv but I loved it, ended up watching the whole thing in 3 sittings and never wanted to stop watching. I wwas disappoonted when it was over and I didn't have more to watch

i love this series and only bought it on bluray because it was on sale $10 more than regular dvd. the high def is awesome but in my viewpoint, it doesnt have much rewatch value. i dont see me putting this in to watch several times like i do with any of my tarantino flicks. but i shouldnt complain for i got it at a screaming deal and it took a few people in the store to locate the last copy for me.

This series has easily been the best purchase I've made since picking up my PS3/Bluray player. Although movies look great, Discovery was MADE for high def, the picture is extremely sharp and clear. I'm still in awe every time I watch an episode.

Beautiful. Amazing "eye candy". The entire family from our teen to grandma enjoys watching this amazing series. The scenery is beautiful and we've all learned so much about the natural history and geography of the earth. Total Entertainment!

I have been looking for this product long time ago and found on the website. This documentary covered every thing you're looking for at our planet so that we can appreciate for.

This is how you were meant to experience your HD TV. Standard Definition does not do this series justice. One of the most amazing things I have ever spent 8 1/2 hours watching.
