    Excellent Outdoor Speakers

After doing considerable research, I opted to roll the dice and give the Polk Patio 200's a try. They appear to be identical to the Polk Atrium 5's with a slightly different grill. I believe Polk makes these specifically for Best Buy with slight modifications. I am still waiting for confirmation from Polk customer service to see if they are in fact the same speaker. Regardless, the overall build quality seems excellent. The mounting brackets and grills are aluminum so they won't rust and the other metal components are either brass or stainless steel, so you know these will last. Also, I've had bad experiences with Poly tweeters for outside speakers as that material eventually dries out and disintegrates. The tweeters on these speakers are aluminum so they should be more durable. They are mounted under the eaves so that will offer additional protection. These speakers are being powered by a Niles volume control. The sound quality is excellent given their size. The bass is surprisingly full for a small 5 inch woofer (you can't expect heaven and earth at the price point and size). Mids are very warm and highs are crisp. I could not hear any distortion even at higher volumes. For the money, I'm not sure you can get a better bang for your buck with the Patio 200's!

At first I didn't know if I should buy these speakers, I had my eye on the definitive technology outdoor speakers. I went and bought those for $159 each on sale, after testing them with my Onkyo 75w receiver, they didn't sound that good, the speakers needed more power, back to the store to purchase the 100W Insignia receiver with Bluetooth for $129 while I was there I saw they had a pair of Polk patio 200 speakers open box for $99 a pair. I took the speakers and the insignia receiver, when I got home I tried the insignia receiver with the definitive speakers and sounded ok but not what I was expecting, I tried the insignia with the Polk speakers and they sounded better than the definitive, and last I tried My 75W Onkyo receiver I had and the Polk speakers, WOW the Polk speakers with the 75W receiver sounded great , just the perfect sound for my patio, the bass is good enough to not disturb the neighbors, I definitely recommend the POLK Patio 200 speakers. FYI Definitive Technology speakers are great speakers you just need the right receiver for the speakers.

    Awesome Upgrade for us

We were looking for a moderately sized speaker to upgrade our outdoor system. The Polks were on sale at Best Buy, so I was looking through them. While the specs for these don't include much low end (60 Hz.) I decided to give them a try. Since they were a retrofit, it took about 10 minutes to pull down the old speakers and mount these. I then fired up the system and got no sound. So I kept bumping up the volume. (you know where this is going) Ultimately I realized I picked the net radio and it takes a few to 15 seconds to buffer. BOOM, on they came with a vengeance. Wow. My wife was inside and she opened the door and said "these are great! Maybe too much?" I said no I just have them too loud. Lowered the volume and they still sounded terrific. Highly recommended.

I was up in the air between these Polk outdoor speakers or the higher priced Bose . After a lot of research I decided to give the Polks a try. Out of the box, I was impressed with the appearance and overall durable look of the speaker. After running a high quality 14/2 all weather speaker wire, I installed both speakers and wired them within a half hour. I even added an exterior volume control to keep from having to go indoors to raise or lower the volume. The speakers sounded great. Very impressive highs and lows and very crisp clean sound. Looking forward to a lot of entertaining and relaxing on my deck for years to come.

These pair of speakers have a good crisp sound to them. They are a little weak on the bass but very good mid and hi notes. Sound image is very nicely separated when used in stereo. Currently driving them with a Sonos Amp that provides 55 watts per channel and once raised over 50% you can really hear these in the yard. I wouldn't expect much listening to bass heavy music. All natural drum sounds are great, even the kicks are good. Some bass guitar sounds are fine, just not the heavily produced, unnatural stuff, it can't quite deliver that oomph. If you plan on pairing them with a crossover and subwoofer then jump right into, these won't disappoint. Granted they haven't seen winter yet, so I'll wait and see how that goes.

i got these about 2 weeks and frankly did not have very high expectations because of the price and size of the speakers. i found them very easy to install (on the outside of my shed) and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sound. i connected them to an older yahama receiver i put in the shed and the sound is very good. maybe not as good as my home theater but for about $100, quite good. they have been out there for a few weeks now, lots of rain and no problems. i'll probably bring them and the receiver in the house to protect them from the weather, not expecting to be outside all that much once it gets cold.

My outdoor KLH was sounding blown (or was I just ready for a change?). I have just purchased a hybrid tube-solid state integrated amp (Qinpu) and wanted to enjoy that lush tube sound. I looked at Bose and Difinitive technology but didn't want to spend a lot on an outdoor speaker. I kept coming back to these. Long story short, I ordered an open box unit and installed them where the KLH hung. They're superb (for my outdoor needs). They're vertically mounted but I have a nagging feeling I might be able to squeeze a little more base out of these puppies if horizontally mounted and pointed down towards my seating/hammock area. I'm satisfied with the price and sound

Bought these for my garage to use with an Onkyo receiver that I received. I purchased outdoor speakers mainly because I am hoping they hold up to the hot/cold cycles we see here in Texas. One month in and so far so good. To the sound, I am certainly surprised by the sound quality of two of these in my garage. They are pretty crisp even at loud volumes and can be heard out in the street when my garage is open. I am surprisingly pleased with these speakers and would not hesitate to buy more if I needed more outdoor speakers.

After reading many reviews and debating on spending lots of dollars on Bose I decided to buy these Polk speakers. I am not disappointed. For the money these speakers are great and I can fill my entire yard with sound if I wanted to. Powerful enough to disturb the neighbors if I wanted. I mostly listen to Rock and Country and both sound great. Nice full sound and crisp highs. Compliments the house well.

Good looking speakers, easy install, but... After 3 days, one of the speakers started popping at higher volumes. I guess this could happen to anyone because occasionally you can buy defective merchandise. I initially went in to buy the Bose SE151's because a friend had them and they rocked! These Polks were on sale for $140 less, sales rep showed them to me and assured me that I would be happy with them and if not, bring them back. They did sound good the first three days, but not as good as the Bose. I like my music loud and the Polks just were not as loud as the Bose, but of course I paid for it.

I have been installing a few outdoor systems for local friends, and so far these are my go to speakers. These Polk speakers provide an excellent value considering the power, the quality and the price. They usually go on sale for $120 and that’s when I make the purchase. The sound is very clear and provide great quality for music or even TV listening. I will continue to buy these for future installations.

These really are nicely balanced sound wise and mount easily. They appear to be well made and should last a long time outdoors. These should be played for several hours before final judgement as they do break in which yields a very open natural response. Bass is a bit anemic but not at all bad for a 5 inch driver. I tried the Yamahas first but they have a real “boxy” sound from enclosure resonance. For a bit more money these are much more refined.

I purchased these speakers after an older set on the patio stopped working. Did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews. Having owned numerous Polk products in the past, I knew these would be of high quality and they are. Great design and surprisingly full sound for the size. The bass definitely rolls off on the very low end but they still offer a full outdoor sound experience. I plan to add another pair on the other porch in the spring.

I actually purchased 3 pairs of the Atrium 5's from another source. I did not see these at BB. They are basically twins of these. I also purchased a new 9.2 receiver and added a 2 channel amp for a 11.2 system. Running a 7.2.4 configuration. Using the 3 pairs of these for the rear back surround and two pair of top channels for Atmos and DTS/X. After 50 hours of break in they are doing very well. Just make sure you are not pushing too much bass thru them. I have the crossover set in the receiver at 80Hz,

This is the third set of Polk Audio outdoor speakers I have purchased. I have a set on my driveway, my side deck, and backyard by the fire ring. All hooked up to a 6 zone amplifier. Great setup that I would recommend to anyone that likes to spend time outdoors with a little background music. But don’t get me wrong, they get LOUD even powered by my 30 watts per channel amp.

These are just above entry level quality and below strict audiophile quality. However they are very adjustable so that when you ceiling mount them you can get them in that exact sweet spot that you want to broadcast them to. They have a decent amount of bass response for not having a subwoofer outside and they sound excellent. My last set were JBL 100 watt outdoor speakers and these have a much better sound quality. I am happy with them and they were worth the extra bucks over the entry level speakers

The wife wanted to upgrade the music we have in and out of our garage for the pool next to it. These speakers mounted nicely under the eave of garage and are bigger and sound better than the previous speakers. I do wish they had a bit heavier magnets that I think would enhance the bass. They are plenty acceptable, but a little more "punch" would make them even better. They are quite clean and do not distort so all in all they were a good purchase - especially for the sale price I got them at.

These Patio speakers are, apparently, badge-engineered Atriums-- but they look and sound great, so who cares what they are? I have mine handling a 120W load and they have never distorted, even under full power. They look beautiful under my eaves and, unlike many other outdoor speakers, their built-in mounting solution instantly goes from wall mount, to ceiling mount, and back again. Having the easily rotated logo so its upright no matter what orientation you choose, is a thoughtful plus.

I had planned to use Patio 200 speakers in my garage as Zone 2 speakers. My Sony receiver does not allow audio Zone 2 output to be adjusted, other than the volume. After listening to them, I was disappointed because they sounded flat. To test the connectivity, I then hooked up a pair of Polk floor standing speakers and they sounded much better without any sound adjustments. Bottom line is that if you are able to adjust the bass/treble, the Patio 200 speakers can sound good. If you can't, they sound flat.

I replaced a pair of Cambridge which had survived 14 New England winters. The Polk are a little smaller but produced big sound- in my novice opinion as good as the speakers they replaced. All of the hardware was included to mount the brackets, and the speakers fasten securly to the brackets with large bolts. I mounted the speakers horizontally and they rotate downward deliverying great sound to our deck 9 feet below. These speakers look great and sound great and the price is right
