The Polk PSW108 (PSW10) subwoofer is a great value

During 3/2017, my Yamaha YST-SW215 subwoofer burned out after 12 years of satisfying use, so I needed a replacement subwoofer. Originally, I wanted to replace this Yamaha subwoofer with the exact same unit. Unfortunately, Yamaha did away with this unit as it existed. The nearest new Yamaha subwoofer that I could use as a replacement lacked the automatic power on feature when there is heavy bass in the sound input to the subwoofer. During 4/2017, I found the Polk PSW108 (PSW108) at Best Buy, and it did have the automatic power on feature when there is heavy bass sound in the sound input to the unit, so I bought the PSW108 at Best Buy. Best Buy had the unit on sale at a special price! The Polk subwoofer is bigger, the subwoofer is 10 inches versus 8 inches for the Yamaha subwoofer that I replaced. The overall enclosure of the Polk subwoofer is bigger than the Yamaha subwoofer as well. I am using this Polk subwoofer with a Yamaha surround sound receiver RX-V679 in a 5.1 surround sound speaker setup. This Polk suboofer is a great value. It offers good bass response, and I was able to tailor its sound and performance to my liking by using both the controls that exist on the Polk subwoofer and some settings on my Yamaha surround sound receiver. This Polk subwoofer performs well when playing music or when you view a movie that has special effects with explosions and booms.

Fantastic, deep, thundering sound for my home theater system. Excellent response. It also adds the thrill of "being there" when I play first-person-shooters on the PS4 (COD: Ghosts is still my favorite!). It's actually a bit OVER powered for what I am using it for, however I just use the volume/power knob and turn it down until the bass matches the need (music vs. movie vs. gaming, etc). As another reviewer noted, DO NOT let the 50 watts RMS spec deter you or fool you into thinking this thing is underpowered... it is NOT. :)
A big plus is that it comes with both speaker-level and line-level inputs. I was a bit disappointed that it did not include an LFE input, however. No big deal though. It also has a variable crossover and volume knob. See the pic I included for the full set of back panel features available to the end user. It may help some of you to understand the connection options at your disposal.
I used it to replace the cheap 6" subwoofer that my Pioneer "home theater in a box" came with. The difference is astounding. I also had to replace the Pioneer receiver because the display went out and a couple of the channels quit working, so I bought a Pioneer VSX-530-K... it works well with this Polk subwoofer.
If I ever need to upgrade my home theater system, I know I can keep this sub because it will fit right in with a higher-end system.

Awesome bass. Easy set up. Great price point. Have a 25 year old Boston sub that was $500 new and this one sounds just as good for less than half of what I paid for the Boston.

This budget Sub is worth more than twice the price (when purchased as an open box item for $125).
The sub produces good low frequency sound and is MUCH bigger than I thought it would be.
I was looking for a second down firing unit for my home theater setup, but this was too cheap to pass up.
The controls on the rear of the unit are easy to manipulate and the connection is easy

For their smallest and lowest cost subwoofer, this packs a punch! I was very surprised at how much depth and volume this produces with no distortion or flutter. This can truly pound it out and yes, even shake the walls. You can adjust the input level on the back of the cabinet as well as being able to adjust the roll-off. You also have a phase switch and another switch for auto-on/off. you have a choice of inputs: regular line level inputs or direct speaker inputs. I've seen reviews where it was said that there's too much distortion or not enough bass (or none at all), noise, etc. This has to do most likely on your choice of inputs and how you adjust the subwoofer and your receiver. To get the optimum performance you need to adjust your levels, roll-off, phase, etc. Once you have them set properly to how you like it I think you'll be pleased. This thing is large, and heavy. It's a sturdy piece of equipment. I love this thing, Polk makes great products. I've used their products before, they have great quality.

I'm very happy with my purchase of this subwoofer. It was easy to setup, although I had to purchase a subwoofer cable separately. I love that the power plug is small and doesn't take up much room on the outlet. Plus, the length is great so that you can set it far away if needed. Sounds great with my setup and packs a nice punch in my system!

I bought this subwoofer for our gameroom. It isn't a huge room(16x14), so I figured this might work well for the space. I'm glad to say I was right. I was worried that the subwoofers amp might not be enough for the room, but it's perfect. For the price, it's a great value. There's lots of deep punchy bass for movies, music, and video games. It doesn't have the clarity or output of my SVS sub, but it's fine for the gameroom and a lot cheaper. If your looking to add some good bass at a reasonable price, check this one out.

Almost bought two. That would've been a mistake. On low volume this sub rocks the whole house. Movies and music have never sounded better. The bass is incredible. Dont be surprised though, it's a 10" woofer so the box isn't small.

Polk knows sound. I was curious about the sound quality of this product given the fact of using a 10 in woofer. It did in fact have the response I was looking for, for the area in which the system resides. I have tried other top brands of the same size woofer that did not meet my standards nor compare to the Polk.. This is excellent for music. With respect to watching movies, I do have to turn down the bass on the woofer just a bit for my taste but again, EXCELLANT for the money and size!!

I bought this to replace another Polk Audio sub that had great sound. My old sub was plugged into a cheap surge protector and started having weird feed back sounds after a bad storm. This went on sale for Black Friday and snagged it. We have basic Onkyo 7.2 receiver and klipsch front and rear speakers. We have to move a few decorations when we’re watching a good action film due to bass vibrations.... that’s a good thing!

Amazing Subwoofer! Better than Klipsch 10' Sub

I had a 10 inch Klipsch Subwoofer that I quickly returned when comparing it to the Polk Audio PSW108. The PSW108 Bass Clearity at low frequencies was Crystal Clear Thunderous Bass. I liked it so much, that the very next Day I purchased a second one. To make my Dolby Atmos Surround Sound System 7.2.2
But I will warm people. This may look similar to the Polk Audio PSW 10. But it's not. The PSW 10 has too many bad issues with them. That's why Polk Audio Re-Newed the PSW108. I am a very consciences shopper. So after I picked up the Polk Audio PSW108 that was on sale. And compared it to the Klipsch 10 inch Sub. The Polk Audio PSW108 plays much better and was selling at an Amazing Price. Now don't get me wrong. Nearly My entire System is Klipsch. And Klipsch Circuit Board was far Superior, But when I noticed when comparing the 2 Subs, that the Polk Sub played Clearer at a Lower Frequencie. Around 20Hrz. I didn't hesitate to ship back the Klipsch. Now after a few weeks of breaking them in. My surround sound system Complete, and plays at any volume Completely Clear.
I highly recommend the Polk Audio PSW108.
But I don't recommend the PSW 10 Silver faced Front Firing Sub. Because even though it may look the same. It is not. I'd rather pay $200.00 for the PSW108 then $129.00 for the PSW 10 which is truly a Gamble. I also recommend The Polk Audio Signature Series S35 Center Channel Speaker. Because it is another truly great product.

I love this subwoofer! The lows that it produces sound like a much bigger sub. I placed it in a large room and the bass fills it completely!
My only advice would be to leave it in the on position when you know you will be using it. Sometimes the auto position doesn't pick up the signal from the receiver and you might miss an effect.
Still, for a 10" sub, this is a great unit.

I used to have huge floor speakers but wanted to minimize the items in my living room. I have two bookcases and put two Polk bookshelf speakers on the bookcases but was missing good bass so I purchased this sub-woofer and the sound is clearly better with this. Now I have the low end sound that was missing with just the bookcase speakers.

This is a great small subwoofer I can use in a condo with someone living below me. Our walls are relatively thick, but some sound can make its way through so I was on the fence about getting a subwoofer. This one seems to be doing fine providing a little bit of bass without rattling the floors much and without disturbing my neighbors.

I am loving this sub. It's actually a little better then I thought it would be. I asked an associate for a recommendation for a smaller room at a lower price point and he quickly suggested the PSW. He said it would definitely give the desired bass at the price I wanted. I got it home, hooked it up and it did not disappoint. I am very pleased with this purchase.

This subwoofer is great! I was hesitant about having to replace my previous sub, but the reviews on both BB and Amazon reassured me of my purchase. Once I got it all setup, I was blown away. The bass sounds great! I love that you can also adjust it for different viewing preferences. Overall, I'm more than satisfied with this sub.
