I rebought the Duo from Best Buy after it crashed out immediately after buying one from MicroCenter (came missing a cord). For first-time users, do the start-up firmware update directly from the Duo on wifi and not through your laptop/app. Since doing it correctly the second time from my BestBuy purchase, the Duo has been great. Using it for a two-podcast setup. Watched a YouTube video to set it up with the rodecaster mics and the audio is very clean and blocks out outdoor sounds (in a regular non-sound-proof room). It is small and portable in comparison to other brands. Unless you need more XLR inputs, I highly recommend the Duo over the Pro from Rode. Love that it has a regular headphone jack in the front so I could monitor without buying separate headphones with different jacks on the back.

Incredible upgrade over the original! I use this for my podcast and it has been an impressive piece of gear. The sound is great, the system is great, no complaints. I really like the upgraded amps, I can power an SM7B without a cloud lifter. The angled, upgraded screen is a pretty nice feature too.

I’m so impressed with this compact console. Built in dual wireless, USBC mixing options, all the digital processing you could want. Some advanced features are buried in menus, but the documentation online is great. It’s mind boggling how this would have been a rack of equipment a decade ago. Wow.

This is a great mizer, it does have a learing curse. GoXLR is easier to use but this Rodecaster Duo can do more. If you get this I highly recommend getting the beta s9ftware. RODE is moving in the right dirextion.

Great to use if you really know what you are doing with audio. Myself personally it was a huge learning curve for me but once I got a crash course on how to intergrate it with a dual pc setup for streaming it is super nice to have. I do wish that it had some other capabilities to help "separate" more of the audio channels but can't complain.

Junk lemon product that won't boot. I started having issues with it outside the return window. I followed the instructions to unplug everything, wait a minute, and then just plug in the power and turn it on. This is no longer helping as this is the fifth time that I have had with the "stuck on boot" issue. The unit is completely unresponsive at this point.

I love this device: Not only has it freed up a bunch of resources on my computer, it’s also improved the quality of my content production thanks to its excellent sound quality and ability to control so many things with the touch of a button or slider. I no longer need a second monitor to keep an eye on my sound levels or check that things aren’t muted, nor do I have to tab out of applications or games to tweak audio levels — I have no need for additional peripherals such as a Loupedeck. Being able to make voice clips and sound effects on the fly is a neat feature, and it really adds to the fun you have with friends on Discord (or with your audience, if you’re a streamer or content creator). The Rodecaster Duo, similar to the more complex Rodecaster Pro II, comes with somewhat of a learning curve — you'll need to spend some time getting to know it if you want to get the most out of the device. There are so many things to tweak and configure that I’ve spent hours trawling through forums and videos on how to configure everything, from setting up the macro pads to separating application audio for mixing channels. But once you set up the device for your situation, it can really help streamline your content creation. The Rodecaster Duo isn't cheap, unfortunately — while it may save you some space, because you'll only need one device instead of several pieces of tech, $499 is still a pretty big investment. Plus, it's definitely very audio-focused — if you're not as interested in the Duo's audio quality, something like the Elgato Stream Deck+ will be more versatile.

“I really like the Rodecaster Duo! It’s a fantastic, helpful tool that makes podcasting and audio production easy and enjoyable. The interface is intuitive, with high-quality preamps and customizable sound pads that allow me to add effects on the fly. It’s compact yet powerful, with versatile inputs and great options for recording directly or connecting to a computer. The clear audio quality and user-friendly design make it an ideal choice for both beginners and pros. Overall, it’s a valuable asset for anyone looking to elevate their podcasting or audio projects!”

Perfect RodeCaster Duo does it all!

Fantastic interface packed with features. Mic preamps are crystal clear with more than enough gain to push my Rode microphone over the top. Headphone preamps are also incredibly good and clear, monitor outs are fantastic at line-level or volume controlled. Effects processing is excellent here with the essentials to fine-tune the sound you're looking for. Visual display of all effects processing helps you dial in everything. Final mix effects like Compellor are excellent to help round out the mix with multiple speakers. Delighted at the noise gate since it applies hysteresis AND you can control the depth (gain drop) of the gate which is ultra-important. Compressor, high pass filter, de-esser, EQ and more are all represented and work exceptionally well and easy to setup. Bluetooth works great. The ability to both use the device as an I/O during live environments post-fader AND record directly to the SD card PRE-fader as multitrack is a huge bonus for unity gain backups is a must for editing clips in post. Smart pads are great, though I would like to see a "cough" feature added with momentary lock that's easier to slam when you're running solo in a stream since tapping the small mute button isn't ideal when you need to quickly silence a sneeze. Faders are excellent. The ability to mix-minus so on stream everyone can hear the full output but in Discord or chat apps my friends can only hear me. Overall an absolutely EndGame device and with upcoming updates this will make streaming far more efficient with input table routing.

The Rodecaster Duo has been an absolute game-changer for me. As someone who wears multiple hats as a podcaster and a professional who spends a lot of time on work Zoom meetings, this device has seamlessly integrated into both aspects of my life. The audio quality is outstanding, making my podcast sound polished and professional, while also elevating the clarity during Zoom calls. The intuitive controls and built-in features, like sound effects and multi-channel recording, have made it incredibly versatile and user-friendly. Whether I’m creating engaging podcast episodes or leading work discussions, the Rodecaster Duo ensures my voice is always “on point.” Highly recommend it for anyone looking to upgrade their audio game!

I bought this product to replace my aging GoXLR to try and be more future-proof in the case that TC-Helicon no longer supports the product. I have always liked Rode products, and this looked like a similar solution to my needs, so I decided to pick it up and give it a try. Overall, the product is great. The build quality is solid, and honestly I felt like the product was even a bit easier to learn to use and get a good quality sound out of compared to my old GoXLR. The built in preamps and processing did a great job of powering my RE20, and I really loved how they have profiles built in for some of the most used microphones to get it sounding great without a lot of fiddling with specific settings. I even felt like my game and audio quality from my connected headphones seemed more rich and clear compared to the GoXLR. I am deducting a star for two reasons, and I believe both of them are firmware or software related. 1) The first issue is that, unlike the GoXLR, this thing does not have a substantial number of virtual audio channels. If you're using this for streaming and are coming from the GoXLR like me, this may be important to you. You can still have enough channels to do everything you need to do, but it currently requires connecting a second USB cable from the device in to your PC. Not the end of the world, and they claim they are working on a firmware update to allow for more virtual channels, but this is a minor annoyance and could be a dealbreaker for you depending on your amount of free USB ports. 2) About a week in to using my device, I was unable to upload any new sounds from my PC to the Smart Pads on the device. I was previously able to upload sound clips just fine, but one day it decided it didn't want to let me upload my own sounds anymore. When I try to upload them, the pad it is assigned to does nothing, and the audio file ends up on the root drive of my computer instead of the device itself. There is also some problems with trying to adjust the audio levels of the individual smart pads using the newest firmware. Trying to adjust the sound levels of everything on the first page works fine, but if I try to adjust anything on page 2 or later it doesn't edit the correct sound on the device. I spoke with Rode Support about my issue and they want me to RMA the product, so I may give that a try, but these honestly seem like something wrong on the firmware/software side to me, so I am hesitant to go through the return process and risk another unit just to run in to the same issue. This is a pricey product at $500, and I would expect a premium experience for that price point where things just "work". In my 5 years of using a GoXLR, I never experienced these types of issues, so this was slightly disappointing to run in to coming from a quality name like Rode. Overall, I think I would still recommend this product. I am hopeful that these issues will be able to be patched out, and when they do this will be a stellar product for streaming on top of podcasting.

Bit of a learning curve when setting things up initially, but once you get through that it's such an amazing product. Being able to add and remove virtual sliders removes the downside of having less physical sliders than it's big brother version. Only gripe really was that all outputs are set by default at -12 DB, so if you're using one channel specifically just for audio the output might be slightly lower than what you're expecting. Took me a bit to notice and was super confused why some of my output levels were coming out quieter than what was being shown.

When the Rodecaster Duo is working properly, I like the product very much. I'm able to separate audio in a similar way to the GoXLR I had used previously. The audio output seems to be very good quality as well. My only issue is that, at least once during every live stream, the audio completely cuts out, prompting a complete restart of the unit. This, despite my having rebooted the unit prior to stream. The problem becomes disruptive and it is difficult to know when or why it will happen. Once the unit is restarted, there are no more problems during the live stream and all features seem to work. The things I like about the product include the reasonable size of the unit, the ability to split audio sources, the quality of the audio produced and the many options to improve audio quality, sound sampling pads and the ability to record audio to an SD card that I've put in the unit. Were it not for the audio completely cutting out during stream, I'd give this product five stars for meeting all my needs. I'm hesitant to return the product because I'm hopeful there will be a firmware update to fix the one problem I've had with it.

This works great! It's my interface and there's definitely a learning curve to use it but luckily there's a lot of resources online. Make sure to take your time learning how to use this because it's very powerful. I use this for voice acting with my RODE NT1 5th Gen Mic and the difference in how I sound is amazing.
