First Look & Setup: Honestly, getting the Reolink Argus Series B440 4K set up was super easy. Seriously, from opening the box to having the system totally up and running was a breeze. The installation was incredibly simple and user-friendly—no complicated wiring or confusing tech stuff. Everything you need is right there in the box, which is a huge plus, especially if you're not a tech whiz. Key Perks and Why It's a Good Deal: One of the best things is that they throw in a 64GB memory card. That's a big deal! You get tons of local storage for your video recordings straight away, so you don't have to immediately fork over cash for some monthly subscription just to save your footage. Plus, Reolink has a great warranty. You get a full two years standard, which really shows they stand by their quality. And here's a tip: if you register the product, they tack on an extra six months, giving you two and a half years of coverage! That kind of long-term backing is definitely reassuring. Smart Home Integration: This Is Where It Shines: The way this thing works with Google Home is absolutely great—it sends proactive broadcast notifications right to my smart speakers. When it detects motion, the speakers clearly announce something like, "Motion has been detected on [Camera Name]." This is a game-changer because Reolink offers it for free. Other brands, like Arlo, have a similar announcement feature, but they usually hide that essential security convenience behind a pricey subscription. The fact that Reolink includes this functionality at no extra cost seriously ups its value. Final Thoughts: All in all, I’m extremely happy with the Reolink Argus Series B440 camera. The combo of easy setup, the generous included storage, the excellent warranty, and free smart home integration makes it an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a solid camera solution.

Was very neatly packed, double boxed and received safely. Included everything needed - an assortment of wires, mounts, adapters, and even screws and anchors. The solar panel even has an extension wire if necessary to mount further away from the camera. Mounting is easy, there is even a screw hole template. It can be mounted vertically, horizontally, even on the ceiling. All necessary plates and adapters are included. Setup was fairly easy - using QR codes takes you to an informative video. After downloaded the Reolink app, it walks you through step by step setting up the camera and app. At first I thought the micro SD card slot was defective, but found that the card needed to be pushed below the surface to actually latch. The camera uses a micro SD card for recording, and will loop and record over older video. The camera has pan and tilt, and 360 degree tracking. The motion detection zones can be set horizontally and vertically, along with a “home” return position. Dual band Wi-Fi 6, 4K color night vision. Smart detection, alerts, 2 way communication, spotlight and siren, etc. These are only some of the excellent features of this unit. Once up and running, the camera has a very wide field of vision, extremely sharp image, and can be “zoomed in”. Detail and color were excellent. Manual control of the tracking worked perfectly. The mounting was simple, the camera is easily controlled from your phone. And, using the solar panel makes this camera completely self contained and wireless. All the excellent camera features were offset by issues within the app. I could not get the app to give notices / alarms on the phone – although all permissions were enabled. I could manually view clips, and continue to control the camera with the app. I did reach out to tech support, and it seems they are aware of this, and are working on an update for camera and app. Once this is updated, this would be a great choice for carports, front areas, anywhere you need more surveillance or security. Four screws, some setup, and done.

Reolink Argus Series B440 4K solar home security camera I've had my share of indoor and outdoor security cams but I have had to keep an eye on battery life. High resolution cameras typically need to be charged more frequently until now. The Reolink Argus Series B440 wireless solar powered security camera has 4K resolution with a solar panel that keeps the camera charged no matter what resolution, number of detections, or live streams you want to view. The B440 can also follow a subject across its detection area until they are out of range. All of this without any subscription fees. (Note: You can subscribe if you want cloud storage with a 60-day video history.) - Design & Build - The design is a simple UV resistant white plastic with a lens, PIR sensor, dual spotlights, and IR LEDs. It has an IP64 rating that can protect against dust and water. The SD card input and USB-C port have a thick silicon cover for weatherproofing. Everything looks well built and fortunately it comes with a variety of mounts based on the installation location. I chose to install my against a wall on the front elevation of my home. There's an antenna that attaches to the camera that you will want to attach. I noticed connection issues without the antenna. Overall, it's packaged well and has a thoughtful design and packaging. I was able to unbox, charge and get everything installed in about 45 minutes. - Specs & Features - - 4K UHD Resolution, 15fps - Pan/Tilt - WPA/WPA2/WPA3 security - Color Night Vision - 2-way audio with microphone and speaker - 2.4/5GHz dual band Wifi 6 - Compatible with Google home and Amazon Alexa - 64GB microSD card in the box - Auto tracking can be setup to track people, cars, pets, or all three. - Bright Spotlights that can be set to trigger upon detection - High gain antenna - PIR angle: 120 deg, Distance: 10 meters/33 feet - AI detection to identify subjects such as humans or pets - Performance - The 4K resolution is great as expected, but what stands out is the resolution when you zoom in, it's very detailed and impressive. You can clearly see license plates when you zoom in. The other surprising benefit to me is it can actually follow a detected subject and follow it around based on your settings. For example, if my kids are playing in my driveway, it will follow them all around the yard helping me keep an eye on them. I appreciate having the spotlights because it can be set to instantly shine if there's a detection providing even more security. The color night vision mode can capture video in complete darkness with the help of its spotlight cameras. The solar panel is 6 watts and has no problem keeping the camera charged 100%, even with a significant amount of detections. The battery is a little over 21 watts and so far it's kept a full charge with no problems at 100% The B440 supporting both the 2.4GHz and 5 GHz band makes it easy whether you have separate bands or you've combined your bands. I have a 2.4GHz band that I use specifically for cameras and robot vacuums. I had no connectivity issues once I plugged in the antenna. - Software - The app works really well, and moves quickly through setup. This is the fastest software setup I've had with a camera. Everything just worked well. There are a host of useful features in the app that you can dial in such as detection, sounds, light, and alerts. It's a comprehensive app with a real focus on security. You can also take photos and video with a simple touch of a button. - Pros/Cons - *Pros* * Exceptional image quality * A considerable amount of features without a subscription * Siren & Spotlights * Solar power * SD Card input *Suggestions/Needs Improvement* * 15fps means motion is slightly less fluid * PIR range is limited to a little over 30 feet so theoretically it might miss some detections * Might not charge a well in extremely cold environments I love the panning and subject tracking ability of this camera. It allows you to track in much larger areas that would often require more cameras. The solar charging is very convenient and keeps the unit charged at 100%. I think it's a great value and is packed with technology. I highly recommend it for home security.

The Reolink B440 fits the bill. I was unsure of what to expect. I hadn’t heard the name before but was impressed with the on board memory. I don’t like to pay month or yearly bills. A 64 gig card is included with the unit but I opted to purchase a 128 gig card for extended files. The setup is very easy, just scan the QR code on the camera from the APP and follow the instructions. Make sure you have the latest firmware before mounting. I opted to fully charge mine before setting it up to give it a head start on videoing and capturing. I chose the front of my house by my driveway/walkway. After installing the app and connecting the camera I chose my “home viewing “area. In other words the home zone for the camera to return to after capturing or following an event. From this location I was able to see my complete front yard and driveways. I also set up to be notified if an event occurred like a car a person, animal etc. The first night I woke up to an alert at 2:30 am and was freaking out as I viewed a person in my driveway. It turns out the couple next door had food delivered via door dash and he delivered to wrong address. But I was able to see his face clearly along with his car (plates were blurry) so this performed as expected. I was able to save videos to my phone easily via the app. At any time you can live stream with sound and move the camera about 140 degrees. On a side note I was able to see what dog was doing his business nightly on our front lawn ha-ha. The camera is crisp and clear during the day and can swivel/Pan/Tilt (355 degrees Pan and 140 degrees Tilt) multiple directions including following movement. From the app I am able to zoom in and capture stills if needed or download an event. You can set the sensitivity levels so you unit doesn’t go off every time a bush moves due to wind. At night a very bright spotlight activates when there is an event complete with color night vision. Sirens can also be chosen to scare off any would be prowlers. The 2 way sound also allows you to communicate when streaming live. I highly recommend the B440 due to its crisp day and night video, its pan and tilt capabilities and mostly due to no monthly fees!!

This is my first Reolink camera and from the setup process to the picture and video quality, I’m throughly impressed. One of the first signs of a consumer friendly product is how easy it is to setup and how well the product and app work together and on both fronts, Reolink excels. From unboxing to setup it takes about 10 to 15 minutes at the most. Reolink includes a 64 GB micro sd card which is nice as I’ve had other cameras from different manufacturers who didn’t include one. The included detachable solar panel allows you to mount the camera under eves and then mount the solar panel in direct sunlight. Once you’re up and running with the camera the app really shines from the ease of use to the amount of customization, from the type of notifications, when to record events, alarm types or when to use the siren feature. The fact it has a siren is a big plus also, as I had people checking cars in my neighborhood and the first time the light didn’t scare them off, but the siren did when they came back the second time. When viewing the live feed of your camera you sometimes want and need it load up quick and this is the first camera brand I’ve used that uses the 5 Ghz spectrum for WiFi in addition to 2.4, this seems to make a significant difference especially when loading the live video feed. The auto tracking feature is really nice to have and fast, you can set it just for people, vehicles, animals or all. Once it detects whatever you set it for it locks on and continues to track them. If you’re looking for a security camera that has lots of features with great video and picture quality, the Reolink Argus series delivers. You get everything you need to monitor and protect your property without any monthly fees or subscriptions.

    Outstanding Video Resolution, Smooth Operation

The Reolink 4K 8MP pan tilt camera is a very well-designed product. Materials and workmanship for the unit are top notch. The Start Up Guide has some mistakes, but it is easy enough to overcome these problems. The first problem was where to install the micro SD card which is included. The guide uses super miniature print to show a tiny footnote that says you need to rotate the camera lens to find the SD card slot – the solution is to make this footnote part of the description of the SD card location in the same font. The other problem is the Initial Set Up doesn’t work when you scan the QR code using the app. The link that comes up goes nowhere useful. The workaround is to enter the number beneath the QR code which the app does let you input manually. Connection to wireless went smoothly. You can use 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz access points. Once setup the camera operated flawlessly with pan and tilt operations very smooth. Also the night vision infrared worked better than any of my other security cameras – tip of the cap to the Reolink engineers for getting the night vision optimal. The resolution of the video is super sharp, very nice color for daytime. This unit includes a spotlight which is terrific. You can turn the spot light on and off in the app – just touch the little flashlight to turn on and off again. You can charge the camera with a solar panel which I used. You can also charge it with a normal 5v charging system. I do notice that the camera is very well designed to guard against rain or dust. My unit came with the solar panel. The solar panel installation and connection are also covered very well in the Setup Guide. A sun icon next to the battery percentage (in settings) means the solar panel is connected and charging. The PTZ icon is where you pan/tilt. Also I must mention the unit comes with a very nice long USB-C to USB-C extension for running to the camera once installed if you like for constant charging if you don't have the solar panel. You can enable notifications to warn you of low battery and also to give you notifications when motion is detected. The Reolink folks have a produced a very complete product with all screws and brackets to mount. I used the wall mount and attached the solar panel to the top (see photo). I did find the on/off button to be very responsive, and the device sings a different short tune when coming on or shutting off. This is a small detail but appreciated greatly during setup and installation outside. The Setup Guide does include the physical installation of the camera with tips on how to optimize your installation. This includes the installation choices for wall mounting, ceiling mounting or strap mounting. Don’t forget at this step to attach the antenna which I had taken off to ensure ease of installation. All the needed brackets and screws are included – another nice job by the product engineers at Reolink. I would highly recommend this remarkable little pan & tilt outdoor camera.

Reolink - Argus Series B440 4K 8MP Solar Home Security Camera Outdoor Wireless Wi - Fi with Auto-Tracking Pan Tilt and 64GB SD - White Reolink - Argus Series B440 is easy to use and set up. The box has tamper tape on it so you get that warm fuzzy before even opening the box. It has a wide range of mounting accessories and cables to give you flexibility when it comes to mounting the camera. It comes with a Solar panel to help keep this unit charged up. It is advertised as 24-Hour Operation in just 10 Minutes of Solar Panel Charging. It even has a 64GB SD memory card for local storage. No subscription is required but there is an available purchasable cloud storage option and / HUBs are available for additional on site storage and integration with a mix of Reolink cameras. PROS • Easy Setup • Quality of components • WiFi: 2.4/5GHz WI-FI 6 • Included 64GB SD memory card • Wide range of motion and coverage • Wide range of vision and quality of video • Included Solar panel for charging the battery • Can be charged with USB-C adapter • Advanced motion detection can distinguish between people, vehicles, and animals • Two-year standard warranty • Operating Temperature of 14°F - 131°F • Smart Home integration - Google Nest Hub or Chromecast-enabled TVs. • Can be direct setup or with a HUB and cloud storage is optional CONS • App could use improvements and has problems with Push notification (improvement in the works) • Speaker and Microphone on the camera are weak • Only 15 frames per second frame rate so movement can be choppy • IR night vision is only 33Ft ( I have an additional emitter to solve this) • On/off button is not easily defined and the annoying instructions to install the app keep cycling With a 4K (3840 x 2160) @15fps, it uses a 1/2.7" 8-megapixel CMOS sensor. It has a fixed lens field of view of horizontal 90°, vertical 47°, diagonal 110°, with the units capable of 355° pan and 140° tilt, you are pretty much covered. At night, you have a 33-ft IR night vision using two IR LEDs. Additionally, you have color night vision capability with two built-in spotlights. Luckily for me, living in AZ it has an operating Temperature of 14°F - 131°F. I charge up my devices before first use and when I plugged it into charge after a couple of minutes the camera would constantly cycles through audible instructions in multiple languages to install the app while it's charging. I did some quick research to find the on/off button and to hold it for 5 seconds to turn it off. With a lot of DIY wireless security camera systems being only 1080P the quality of the video on this camera at 4K 8MP gives a stunning clarity to the video and performs well in the day or the night. The other advantage the camera has is the ability to follow vehicles, humans and animals after coming into the target zone. The software has many features that are customizable for detection sensitivity, triggers for alerts, sound triggers, and light activation. Push alerts with this version of the app is a little buggy but Reolink will have a fix in the near future. One of the biggest advantages, in my opinion, over most other WiFi cameras is the ability to support dual-mode WiFi and communicate on WiFi 6, with 2.4/5 GHz selection for the best signal and bandwidth. I do wish they had options for increasing the frame rate above 15 frames per second, which can be choppy, but it is comparable to other systems. With the WiFi 6 capability, this could certainly support a higher frame rate. It is nice to be able to use the microphone and speaker in certain situations but they are on the weak side which is comparable to most other WiFi cameras that I have used. Integration into a smart home system is a plus, allowing for both voice commands and ease of viewing on tablets and many of the new Home TV systems. With the data being stored on the 64GB SD memory card ( which is upgradeable) it gives you access to your videos without the need for a subscription service. Since I will be purchasing more cameras to replace some of my current older ones, I will go with a HUB for easier access to the multiple cameras and for larger storage. This is an impressive system with lots of features and expandability and one is not forced into a subscription to maintain the system. It is a good buy and has been given several awards for its quality and ease of home use

This product sector is such a challenge for the average consumer. In some ways the technology is above our heads and needs, and in other ways I feel like the companies just don't understand the consumer. So I'm saying the same thing- there's a disconnect that makes it difficult to select and product confidently. Ok, speaking specifically about the Reolink - Argus Series B440 4K 8MP Solar Home Security Camera, I have to say, set-up was really, really easy. There's minor assembly of the device and then setting it up in the app and getting it on your network was painless for me. For the purposes of testing, I did not physically secure the camera to anything, but Reolink provides stickers with graphics and dimensions so that screwing the base onto an object (or lashing it on to a pole) is hard to mess up. Once set-up, the app shows you steaming settings (frames and resolution). You can also mount the solar panel a few feet away for optimal backup power. I found the device to be visually pleasant and also not a real attention-getter. One of the dilemmas of security cameras has always been "Do I want people to not be self-conscious, or do I want them to know they are being watched and move on?" I can't answer that for you, but it you want it to be seen, it's certainly not an eyesore. The product comes with a 64GB micro SD card and it streams online. I'm not certain how much and for how long i have access online before it starts recording over. They do offer a cloud subscription. Personally, I never like this. It's rarely explicit on the box so when comparing products it's hard to know you're making a true feature-to-cost of ownership comparison. I'd love the ability to store to my own cloud service and not pay for another subscription. However, so far I haven't needed supplemental storage. Features on the app that I like: Listening in and the ability to speak to someone on the camera (think warning or helping, "hey, we're around back". I also like that you can control the camera to pan, tilt and zoom with an intuitive single-finger control on your phone or tablet's screen. You can choose to record video and take snapshots, set points to focus, set the camera to return to a certain point of focus, turn on a (small) spotlight, and have an alarm siren go off (this can also be automatic upon detecting motion). Image flip, both horizontal and vertical, are controlled in the app as well. Your camera can be named, and the location can be set so that it doesn't obscure an important part of the view. Very important too, "Image Mask" to obscure portions of view you don't want recorded for privacy or other reasons. Modes for convenience and clarity include black&white vs color and the ability to let the system choose what's getting the best resolution. I was pleased the PIR Motion Sensor. I could adjust sensitivity from 0-100 so I'm not bothered by slight movement of objects say when the air conditioning comes on. I have it set to notify me on my phone when substantial movement occurs. I can click on the notification and it opens a live stream. Nice. Other nice features include integration with Amazon Alexa, the ability to share device access with someone, timelapse, and illegal login lockout. The one thing missing, as far as I can tell, is geofencing- for me that's the ability to not have the camera activate when I'm in a certain area. Overall, this is a nice, well-built product with a very good app.

I love Reolink cameras. I've owned a PoE camera of theirs before and I love the fact you dont NEED a subscription to use their cameras. Most have an SD card slot or if you are really handy, you can run your own NVR solution like I do. The Reolink Argus Series does NOT disappoint. This is a truly wireless camera with exceptional quality and performance. This model includes the 3.2W solar panel which provides a good amount of charge to keep the battery above 0%. Prior to me installing the camera, I did charge it up to 100% which I highly recommend. The solar panel is easy to mount and provides a 100% wireless solution. I do believe you can wire it via the USB-C port if you want so there is some versatility there. The 4K camera quality is excellent and I find it very responsive with little latency. This could be in part because I do have a WiFi 6 mesh router system with very good coverage and this camera supports WiFi 6. The image quality is fantastic with the 8MP sensor and provides a good clear picture during the day and at night. The 8MP sensor also allows for quite a good zoom in on a subject with little distortion. The pan/tilt function is excellent as well. I also find it very responsive with little latency. It has a 355 degree horizontal pan which is great. The PTZ function is great because if you hang it and you didnt point it quite in the correct direction, you can just open the app and move it around without having to get the ladder back out. It also has auto subject tracking and AI subject recognition which both work very well and allow a different perspective on home security knowing where subjects are going when they enter on to your property. The spotlight on this camera is very bright and allows for great color night vision at night. I prefer the infrared look for night but the cool thing about the spotlight is when a subject trips the camera motion and light comes on, it can definitely serve as a preventative measure as it will draw the subjects attention to the camera. This kit includes all of the mounting hardware and also includes a 64GB SD card which allows you to get up and running instantly without having to worry about not having storage. Again, Reolink really stands apart from other security camera manufacturers with their no subscription necessary model and really gives the purchaser alot of control when it comes to how they want to record and store their footage. I recommend Reolink cameras to everyone I know who is looking for a camera solution and have had multiple people listen to my recommendation and they couldnt be happier. I would highly recommend this camera if you are looking for a truly wireless camera with great performance, great user interface, and great quality.

The Reolink 4K Pan & Tilt Tracking Camera is an impressive camera full of features that perform very well. The 4K camera produces clear sharp images that finally take the frustration out of camera monitoring. This camera locks in on the image then tracks the movement in impressive fashion. It is equipped with something they call, "auto tracking" and I'll tell you it works. It works tracking people, objects, and animals. The pan and tilt functions are smooth and show no stuttering. The camera has night vision along with two way audio. The audio works very well. Night vision is equally impressive. The siren function feature allows you to trigger the alarm to scare off potential trouble. The camera mount options allow you to mount up or on a swivel. My camera has a solar panel allowing for powering the camera. It is wintwr here so the solar needs a bit more sunlight to recharge the batteries, but instructions indicate 3 -4 hrs of daylight will power the camera continuously. If you buy this camera without the solar panel you will need to charge it with a USB-C cord, provided without charging block. The camera comes with a 64mb storage memory card. Reolink makes available a home base for separate purchase that can expand the storage capability. The camera connects to your network through Wifi 6 on either the 2.5 or 5 band. Setting up the camera is very easy. The camera is waterproof and can be used inside or ouside. The Reolink app is very good. You can set notifications, review recordings and manage your camera. The accessory features are amazing. Includes a solar panel extension wire if you need to mount the solar panel away from the camera. A strap if you want to mount the camera around a tree or pole. Mounting templates, security stickers & hardware. Most importantly you do NOT need a subscription to access your data. I for one am tired of subscriptions. I had never heard of Reolink prior to this. Im glad to know them now. Reolink has a great product here.

I was very excited to try this because no subscription is needed. Videos are saved on the included 64 gb sd card. They are easily accessed in the app. If you want more storage, there is a cloud subscription plan. The app is definitely needed for all settings and the camera can be controlled remotely to rotate it. 365°. I had to adjust this when we first installed it. It would be great if it rotated by itself but the dial is easy enough to control. You can pan and tilt to check all around your property. You can also use the microphone and talk two way. There is a siren, but I highly suggest you leave that off because any motion that is detected sets it off. The videos by daylight are very clear, night vision is very clear in black and white, but not as clear in color,( see pics) I have this set so it will switch between both. The video clips are played back easily in the app. All settings are done in the app. It comes with a spotlight and the brightness can be adjusted, but it is very bright even on a lower setting. There are a lot of extras in the box, including solar panel, which we used. Solar panel and wall and ceiling bracket, a strap for mounting on a pole or a tree, extension cable for the solar panel, USB-C cable and hardware. We mounted it on the side of our house and are using the solar panel, so far it has remained at 100% charge for days, that being said we’ve also had sunny days. It can also be charged by USB-C if you choose not to use the solar panel. It has detection which tells you also in the app if it is a person, vehicle or animal. I really like this camera, even though it is quite large, it doesn’t look that bad where we’ve put it on our house. There were a few things that I didn’t care for, and that is the reason for the four stars. One is that the Wi-Fi network must be exactly the same as the device you’re using or it won’t work. Also, the antenna must be attached or there will be a Wi-Fi issue. This took me a little bit to figure this out, it just wouldn’t connect. While I was waiting for it to connect, a voice keeps coming on and talks in many different languages nonstop until the camera is connected, which can be quite annoying. Other than those little issues though I think it’s a great camera and I am loving that it’s not a costly monthly subscription!

There is really no downside to this camera solar charge combo. This is an out of the box set-up and install within an hour. The app is very easy to navigate. Calibration is simple and easy and this performs at a high level. I have another system currently in use but my plan is to phase these cameras out and replace with Reolink. So here are some of the highlights. No monthly fees. You can subscribe to cloud service but this particular camera came with an 64gb storage chip. You can upgrade this also if you like. This can work up to wi-fi 6 systems. There is no real identifiable lag on this camera. You can charge the internal battery and use it with or without the solar panel. I opted to use the solar panel and you use a short or much longer cable depending on your needs. This can mount to a wall or ceiling style set-up. This can even be attached to a pole or tree with an included strap. Mounting templates are included and there is also an Reolink sticker to indicate cameras are in use. Some other valuable features include an audible siren that can be triggered, a spotlight which can be controlled via the app or auto set also through the app. It has motion tracking for vehicles, people, animals etc. You can also access the app and take over pan and scan features and preset these also in the app. This camera works in 4k and the picture is crystal clear. Of course as long as it is in workable distance to your wi-fi connection. You do not need an Reolink huh to operate this camera. The auto tracking feature works extremely well and this can be programmed via the app. This also has audio and works two ways. You can view events in either color or black and whitem Brightness can also be set to your preference within the app. The antenna attachment can also be swiveled to your liking. Definitely recommend.

The Reolink Argus Series B440 4K 8MP Solar Home Security Camera is an impressive security camera. I charged the camera inside first and then setup the camera in the backyard with the solar panel. The lowest percentage on the camera to date has been 97% and it stays at 100% when the sun is out. The picture quality is the best I've seen on a wireless camera. The camera pans and tilts from the app. There may be a 1 -2 second delay from when you press the button to move the camera, but that's a minor inconvenience to me. The camera comes with several options for setup: Wall mount, ceiling mount and strap mount. I chose to mount the camera to my fence as I've been having critters come into our backyard at night and I figured this would be the easiest way to catch them and possibly the alarm and light would scare them away. The camera comes with screws and brackets need to properly secure the camera for your preferred choice. The solar panel also has two different options for mounting: either directly on top of the camera or installed separately. If you chose to have the solar panel installed separate from the camera, there is a 15ft USB-C cable that is included with the camera. I'm still playing with the settings so the alarm doesn't go off because of a tree branch. So far it's either too sensitive or not registering anything, including myself walking in the backyard. At the point, I am happy with the Reolink Argus Series B440 and I do recommend it.

The Reolink Argus Series B440 4k security camera is one of the best security cameras I have ever seen. However, there is one shortcoming that holds it back from being a perfect five stars. The camera comes with a solar panel to charge the batteries so no hard wiring to power is required. The included mounting bracket is great for giving you options on how to mount the B440. You can mount it under eaves or flush mount it. Everything you need is included for mounting and setup. I especially appreciate the templates that adhere to your mounting surface for you to drill your screw holes. Once mounted, you then download the Reolink app to your phone and complete the cameras set up there. Included with the B440 is a mini-SD card that captures all the video clips locally, which is great for not having to pay for external storage. Reolink does provide cloud storage for a monthly fee if you want to forgo the mini-SD card. The camera pans and tilts when tracking people, vehicles, and animals and does an outstanding job doing it. On the app you can view the feed on your phone, recordings, change settings and manually pan and tilt the camera. The B440 sends alerts when the camera has been triggered. The one shortcoming I have found is that you cannot view the camera on multiple devices. For example, logging into your profile from two different devices such as an iPhone and iPad or two iPhones. This can be a problem because it only allows one family member to see the camera. Overall, this is a great security camera for most people but may be lacking for family use.

The Reolink Argus Series B440 4K 8MP Solar Home Security Camera is a solid choice for boosting your home security. In the box, you’ll find the solar panel on top, with the Argus 440 camera tucked beneath the documentation. It’s larger than most consumer models, sporting a 4K lens with full 360-degree movement and excellent wide-angle coverage. Also included are mounting plates and arm, screws, a wireless antenna, solar panel attachments, and a long USB-C extension cable—perfect for positioning the panel to get maximum sunlight for charging the internal battery. Setup is simple, though mounting can be a bit tricky, so watching the installation video via the included QR code is a good idea. Just scan the QR code with your mobile device, install the Reolink App, and connect the camera to your Wi-Fi. Be sure to fully charge the camera before mounting. Pros: 1. Sturdy build quality 2. Sharp 4K 8MP video 3. Full 360-degree movement for wide coverage 4. 64GB MicroSD card included 5. Long USB-C extension cable for flexible solar placement 6. No required storage fees (optional plans available) Cons: 1. Bulky design 2. Mounting can be tricky 3. Limited upward tilt Overall, it’s a well-made, high-quality 4K camera worth considering if you want dependable performance without ongoing costs.

Feature Rich, Install Issues, Erratic Recordings

BACKGROUND: I currently own and have in use five outdoor cameras from three different vendors (Google-Nest, Tapo/TP-Link, & Simply Safe). And this Reolink Argus B440 4K Pan & Tilt with Solar Panel will be a sixth camera on my property. My goal is to dump my two “Simply Safe” cameras replacing them with this Reolink 4K camera primally due to its internal SD card video for subscription free recordings. PRO’s: On paper, the Reolink Argus B440 checks off all of the boxes for what I would want in an outdoor security camera. Video recordings in 4K, Pan & Tilt capabilities, 64gig Micro-SD card included, external antenna supporting WiFi-6, Color Night Vision, battery operated, recharging Solar Panel included, fully functional Application, along with several hardware installation options. Plus, Smart-Detection with Reolink’s Application for Email or Push Notifications. Very nice indeed! CON’s: I encountered two issues that I find disappointing and will document as a “heads up” for those reading reviews. First Issue: The installation took just short of two hours due to the application’s “Push Notifications” constant failures. Error encountered was “Failed to enable the service. Please try again.” Having a career in the military electronics service industry, along with consumer computer and network customer support, I was not going down without a fight. Initially tried a second Android phone (first my primary 2025 Google Pixel 10 Pro with Android-16, and then my 2024 Moto Stylus 5G running Android-14); both failed repeatedly to support push notifications. Verified phone’s permissions were correct, tried clearing the cache, then clearing the storage. Tried numerous Reolink camera reboots, but same failure. Finally, I was able to configure both phones to support Push Notifications by: Reboot camera, turn off camera, clear app cache, clear app storage, force stop the app, then uninstall the application. Reboot phones, then turned the camera back on and setup as a new install. After completing those steps, I was able to reinstall the Reolink application configuring both of my Android phones for Push Notifications. (I won this round…) Second Issue: This camera will not record automobiles pulling into my driveway, or exiting my extended driveway no matter how slow they are moving. Very odd indeed. Now it will record vehicles driving down the road passing my driveway further out past my front yard just fine. And will record if I walk out of my garage down the driveway and back. But for some unknown reason, a car driving into my garage, or out of my garage goes unrecorded. Also, a car parked in the driveway, that is then backed out onto the road, will also goes unrecorded. Tried maxing out all of the application’s “sensitivity” setting to no avail. Also verify I did not have any “Non-Detection Zone” areas that may prevent recordings. Bottom Line: This issue is currently unresolved, very disappointing, and severely restricts the intended safety functionality of an outdoor security camera. (I lost that round…) RATING: After using the Reolink Argus B440 for the past five-days, I believe it earned itself a 3-Star Rating, one-Star for each of issues mentioned above. Now there are many features and options to like about this security camera. And I acknowledge other users have nothing but praise for this model. But until Reolink can manage their application to successfully install without errors on all current phones the first time in a timely manner, coupled with the failure to record vehicles moving directly in front of the camera, I cannot recommend this model. Hopefully a future firmware upgrade with resolve these issues. We’ll see.

The camera quality is excellent and motion detection is super responsive. I currently have a Reolink 8 channel NVR that runs 7 PoE cameras. It has been a few years since I ran all of the cabling for these cameras, so this being a solar powered wireless add-on was a simple hassle free addition. The only thing I was concerned about was if it would integrate well with the NVR system, and I was blown away by how simple the addition was! One click and it was added! Even though it can stand alone with the INCLUDED SD card, it also integrated fully into my existing NVR and allows playback options and motion detection to go along with the rest. The high quality 4K picture along with the pan and tilt function made this a welcome addition to my system, and infinitely portable since there are multiple power options and mounting possibilities.

This camera works great. It exceeds its expectations. Great picture and notification is great. Night vision works flawlessly as does the video tracking feature. The structural qualities are well built for durability. It’s one of the better security cameras on the market.
