Customers highly value the camera's picture quality and ease of use, with many praising its simple installation. However, some users express concerns regarding battery life and motion detection reliability. The availability of a solar panel is also a plus for many. While some appreciate the wireless functionality and affordable price, others find the night vision and cloud storage options lacking.

The Ring stick up cam is a great security camera. We Especially like the live view mode and the talk mode when you are not at home. The only draw back is the camera doesn't stay charged longer than 30 days at the most. We invested in the solar charger and it works great at keeping it fully charged.

I bought this Ring Stick Up Cam last year. After a full year of usage, I have to say that I am disappointed. The claimed 6-12 months of battery life between recharges is never the case for me. I had to charge it every month in the first 3 months since purchasing. Then the battery lasted shorter and shorter, and eventually became un-rechargeable after 9 month usage. The person at the customer service told me that the battery life is only good for certain number of recordings. That means the more recordings you have, the faster the battery will die. You will think a $200 dollars cam should at least last for a few years. No, it didn't even last for a year. The worst part is you can not change the battery for this first generation cam. The customer service did send me a replacement cam. However, the battery of the replacement cam last only 2-3 weeks between charges. I think this replacement will die pretty soon, and I won't consider another Ring cam.

This is the best security investment our family has made. The entire family feels more comfortable since the installation of the Stick up Cam Camera that compliments the "ring" camera. Easy installation and outstanding customer service. We actually were able to view and share with the police department and neighbors footage of a "suspicious" person that was roaming our neighborhood. After installation, I became a spoke person for this product which resulted in many of our neighbors making the same purchase. It was definitely a welcomed addition to our security.

I started out with the Ring video door bell (original model, not the latest one) and since it works very reliable in my home I decided to add cameras as well.
Set-up is very easy and as long as your WiFi connection is at least Good it should work. I need to note that my Internet connection has a very fast Upload speed and that might be a factor for the video transmission.
Notifications: on my iPhone I have no notification delay, maybe 1 second.
That's on WiFi. On cellular I would consider it still real almost real-time since I never have missed a person (meaning that the person was still at my door when I got the notification). Test-wise, I also turned off WiFi on my phone and tested at home with cellular data -- same results, basically no delay.
Some reviews I read before have talked about huge delays which I cannot confirm at all. Maybe the Internet connection and/or cellular connection have in some cases a huge influence.
Motion control works on my Ring camera just fine -- I adjusted the detection radius by trial and error and found a good setting. The distance setting (measured in feet) on the app is not really accurate, but it doesn't matter because you can crank up the sensitivity (distance) until you feel it covers the area you want to control. Tree branches have not triggered a motion so far and that is according to the manual correct because the source needs to emit heat like people or pets or cars.
Cars were not a problem for me since I mounted the cameras in spots not facing a road and with a motion radius that does not go too far. Close-by streets could be a factor, I guess, which means to find the right mounting spot is an important thing.

Great for convenience in mounting and setting up. Am all around happy with this device, only two minor things I wish were better, has a slight delay with the alert and the battery needs to last a bit longer. I love the way it performs and would highly recommend.

This is a good camera, slightly difficult to get it to connect unless strong wifi, the product states 6 months between battery recharge, however mine last about 2 months then they have to be taken down and plugged in over night. Camera is nice!

Battery life is short. Camera very sensitive. You may have to decrease your coverage if the camera is facing a busy street. Camera pictures are very clear. I would recommend this camera. It is great for back yard coverage with little motion activity.

I purchased the Ring door bell from Best Buy some time ago. My wife & I liked it very much. It was easy to install into the existing door bell wiring, and easy to setup and operate. It provides the security we wanted and needed. Our entry door was a bit secluded and the Ring door bell gave us the confidence and security we needed. Any one approaching our house entry, the Ring would notify us, wherever we are. The feature that enables us to talk with the person at the door gives the impression that we are home, but busy and can not answer the door. Three of my friends saw the Ring door bell, and purchased it for their house. This is why we decided to buy the Stick up. It is just as good. We have it installed on the side of our house, towards the street, monitoring any one getting into our property. Very simple, easy and reliable. We love this device.

Picture quality is great, so clear you can see a butterfly ! Down fault is the response time is delayed a bit. Would be nice if it would pick up motion sooner! Added the solar panel to it and put it up high so never needs charging (only the sun )

Avoid this product

I've owned the Ring Stick Up camera for a few days now and I can tell you that this is a terrible camera. First, The motion detection works sporadically. So the very thing it is supposed to do, it fails at. Second, a third of the video captured is blacked out. No video, No sound. I called customer support and they claimed it was because my router is 'too far away' from the unit. My router is literally twelve feet from the Ring Stick Up camera. Third, Ring claims the video is HD. It Is Not. Close up you'd be fine (if the camera comes on), but anywhere near their thirty foot sensitivity limit and you wouldn't be able to make out a strangers face.
I don't know what your intentions are to purchase a security camera, but mine were to have a recording of my property in the event something happens. This brings me to the thing that bugs me the most. On the box it reads 'Cloud Video Recording'. Guess what folks? Its only for thirty days. Beyond that you have to start paying to have your video recorded. The Ring system doesn't allow you to record on your own devices. They want a piece of the action. So basically you've paid for the camera, you've installed the camera, but beyond the trial period you better get your wallet out to view YOUR recordings.
The Ring 'Stick Up' (a perfect name for it i think) is going back and will be replaced with a non-subscription system.

Hi motoxnhra, I'm sorry to hear about your experience with Stick Up Cam. With your router close by, you shouldn't be experiencing these issues in your Ring video alerts. Would you kindly reach me at [email protected] so that we can address and resolve them? I'd certainly appreciate your time and this second opportunity to improve your Ring experience.

If you're looking for a security camera that's small, lightweight, cordless and easy to place or mount anywhere... this is your device! The battery was only charged once and still has 75% life after two months of using. The Ring app is very easy to use (adding the camera to the app and accessing when you get an alert that there's motion) and the picture quality is clear unlike most video security cameras. I highly recommend this and the Ring doorbell for your front door.

Good entry level camera for basic security. super easy to install and add to network.
Works best when hard wired to power. Battery powered creates delay in accessing camera and less light in dankness.

have 2stick up cams and a doorbell from ring. easy install, good picture quality. the app has improved and all runs stable and reliable now. Downside if you dont have internet connectivity you cannot look at the cam. others (dlink, trendnet etc.) offer also local wifi viewing options. Also no ethernet port.
Cam is build sturdy, battery lasts a long time (several months); motion activation can be set, I am not sure how sensitive and quickly it reacts though. Door Bell picks up any motion faster than stick up cam it seems.
for 200$ there are some very good cameras out there. ease of use with the app and ease of installation is worth 4 stars due to lack of local viewing mode and cam is not cheap.

Make Sure You Have Good WiFi

We bought this product a few weeks ago, and overall are very happy with it. The motion detection is pretty good, and the alerts can be set so that a camera in a high traffic area does not blow up your phone if you don't want it too. The picture quality is good too, so it is great for a security camera. One thing to note, however, is that if the WiFi is spotty, it may not record some motion, or the video may just be a black screen. Make sure you have good connectivity wherever you hang this. Otherwise, we're very happy with it.

I bought this with the Ring Doorbell and inside Chime. It provides excellent visual of the area I use it to cover. I could not get the stand to remain in place -- either the stand slipped or the camera turned. I finally laid the camera on a ledge to get the coverage I wanted. Although it is a very reasonable price for cloud storage, I recommend a package price for people who, like me, buy the Ring Doorbell, Chime and this product. Having to buy two cloud subscriptions was aggravating.

With a strong wifi network, this security camera is fantastic. If you have a week wifi network, you'll need to consider upgrading your router to make the best of your Wifi signal.
My only two complaints about the Ring camera are as follows:
1. Field of view is narrow (Less than 90 degrees) I wish FOV was the same as the Ring doorbell
2. You have to pay an additional $3 a month for each new Ring device, regardless of whether or not you're currently on a ring plan. (If you have more than 3 devices, might as well buy the Unlimited plan for $10 a month)
