Customers enjoy the high-quality build, amazing key feel, and pleasing RGB lighting of the Vulcan 122 keyboard. Many appreciate the ease of customization and positive switch experience. However, some users experienced issues with the software and found the wrist rest to be less than comfortable. A few also noted the keyboard's higher price point.

This keyboard is awesome! I was a little worried about the key caps reading that they have peeled off for some other people but I’ve had this for nearly over a month and they still look new.

The light from the keys, even at dim settings, is much too harsh on my eyes!
This happened with a mouse I purchased too : (
I actually have stopped using the keyboard and will probably give it to Goodwill, or just trash it.
I have not had this problem before or since with other lighted keyboards and mice.
The product otherwise worked but is unusable because it's painful to look at!

NovaCustomer - thank you for reviewing your product. Within our SWARM software you can adjust the brightness of the lighting but it looks like you have tried that and is still too bright. There is however an option to turn the lighting off completely by going to Swarm - Vulcan 120 - Key Illumination - Custom Mode - All Keys - Brightness all the way off.

I decided it was time for a change. I've been using a Das Keyboard 4 for several years and have found it well made but wanted a better typing experience combined with some nice back lighting. After reading a number of reviews, I settled on the Roccat Vulcan 120 AIMO Gaming Mechanical Keyboard with Back Lighting. Best Buy didn't have one on display so I asked the salesman if he would open a box so I could try out the keys. He kindly acquiesced and I could tell with just a few depressions that this keyboard was definitely an improvement over the Das Keyboard. After pluggin in the keyboard and installing Swarm software and firmware update, I set up a custom light display that keeps the keys softly illuminated in a coolish blue tone. Unlike other reviews, I don't find the back lighting too bright (only if you look way from the sides) and it's very easy to read the key labels. The touch is precise, not loud, and feels very comfortable (not too heavy or light). The wrist rest works well, is simple to attach and stays in place. Highly recommended for someone who types a lot and wants to add a some nice illumination and color to their desktop.

Great Keyboard

Pros:
-Perfect balance between gaming and practical use. Most "pro" gamers typically go mechanical keyboards running upwards of $400 that lack a NUM pad. Those keyboards are great, but awful when you got use the NUM pad for work, paying bills, or writing emails. This keyboard is great for those that like to game and also do a variety of other everyday computer tasks.
-Typing feels great. Clacky...but not TOO clacky.
-One of the better looking keyboards on the market. Even potentially superior $400+ models don't quite look this good IMO. Lights are completely customizable and can be dimmed or turned off entirely; which is good, because out of the box the lights are blinding.
Cons:
-Oddly sharp corners.
-Kind of wish keys like ENTER and CAPS LOCK just kept the words instead of replacing them with arrows.
-Requires mediocre software to customize the lights. Dimming can be done manually, though.
Neutral:
A little expensive for typical keyboard use. If you're not going to game with it then there are other cheaper keyboards that type just as well. It's longevity might make it worth it anyway, but only time will tell on that.

Before i bought this keyboard the keyboards i had before it were two keyboards from amazon, one was the aula gaming keyboard that lit up purple blue and red tgen the otherone was another pretty much the same i just cant remember the name of the otherone, but they were cheap and good for me at the time, but when i found this, This keyboard..The Holy Grail of all gaming keyboards out of any i had ever seen on google, or youtube, or on, amazon, ebay, i was like holy mother and father of jesus, ive gotta buy this, honestly i had my doubts at first and thought this would be just like any otger keyboard seeling out on the rgb aspect mainly, but boy were my first thoughts 20 trillion light years away from the truth! I opened that package with my serrated steel hunting knife and when i first layed my eyes on all its glory i was blinded, i read the manual thry were so simple to understand i let my 5 year old cousin Benjamin try to make it work and he was able to do it and he's not even a gamer i mean hes 5! The feel of the keyboard is so pleasing to the touch it feels so sturdy i feel like i could run this keyboard over with my car and it would still work no problem, i mean seriously it has its own phone app for ios and android devices so you can download it to your pc as well and you can change roccat device setting with your phone using wifi network connection. You can individually change each key on the keyboard to so many different color combinations or keyboard configurations you can even change each key to have its own individual effect, you csn even make profile presets to create configurations and save them and tgen load them to whatever matches your gaming mood or whatever mood your in dosn't have to be gaming it dosnt have to be anything you can even just turn all the ligts on the keyboard off or any single key light you want, you can set certain keys or key combos to open programs or games or files, there is even an option for artificial asthetic keyboard typing sounds for when you are pressing keys, theres a volume knob on the keyboard, and it has the option for a wrist rest which is magnetic and can be removed or added onto the keyboard easily.

The half-keycaps on this board are inevitably what people will talk about first, and they are pretty interesting. However the build quality of the aluminum covered board is the first thing I would mention. The lighting is nice and uniform, spilling out in a very unique way from beneath said half-keycaps. I really love the key feel when typing on these switches that simulate Cherry Browns. I wish the volume knob/lighting control knob was allowed in the software to do a little more if I'm honest, I feel it's very limited. Of course if all you would want to do with that knob is control one of those two parameters then I guess that would not matter as much to you, but this could be changed with a software update. The way the magnetic wrist rest attaches and detaches has a nice solid feel to it, but it's not premium feeling as it's just a slab of hard plastic. As always, Roccat has very nice premium feeling cables on this board however, so that's nice. I am taking away one star for the little things I dislike here, but all in all I do recommend this keyboard over many others available.

It looks clean, it feels good. It doesnt thock though, it sounds more like a typewriter. Ive since retired it but its never given me any issues

This is my first Mechanical Keyboard. I always used to get the regular logitech wireless or microsoft keyboards and found them to be just fine as i hadn't actually used a good keyboard before. I tried some of the other mechanical keyboards such as the razors, the logitech gaming tiers, steelseries and a few others. I found this one to have the best feel and feedback for me. Similar to Cherry MX brown switches, excellent feedback and sound. One of the things that I noticed more was how much more accurately I'm typing as well as much faster. I noticed that they keys perfectly spaced and are more suited for someone like myself with large hands.
Aside from those aspects, this thing is just beautiful. The floating keys, the brighness of the backlighting, everything about it is excellent... except for the software. I know i am not the first to mention that the software can use an overhaul but for what it's lacking it's almost irrelevant. I'm completely satisfied with the customizability and built in patterns. The only thing i would like to be changed is that the ripple effect have an option of a steady on background as opposed to off. That's literally the only negative I have on this keyboard.

For some reason this keyboard grabbed my attention. Not sure why but I just love the look of this keyboard. Its bright, obnoxious, and completely overkill not to mention expensive. But, I still love it. It's easy to type on and feels great doing so. The led's are colorful and the lighting system is easy to set up. The swarm software is a bit of a pain with the updates but fairly painless as far as software goes. It has less of a memory footprint then the Razer software. The keyboard is durable and the keys have the mechanical sound without being too loud and annoying. If you read the online reviews the two main gripes are the wrist rest being hard and not comfortable. This is valid, and the second is their are no dedicated macro keys. Well you can do macros on this keyboard. There are 6 keys that you can assign macros to and also 4 keys you can make custom settings. The lighting can be changed to several preset patterns or your own creation. Overall if you're in the market for a new keyboard I do recommend the Vulcan. It really does have a definitive wow factor to it.

Not a gamer, but I do type for a living. The keyboard uses a proprietary switch they call Titan. It's there own spin on the MX Brown tactile switch. I'm someone who leans more towards blue/brown switches so this keyboard hits the spot. The aesthetics alone are worth the price of the keyboard. The wrist-rest is plastic and they could have done better by providing a soft-touch rest as other options in the price-range do. The software is not perfect and it does not run on Mac. The RGB still works on Mac and you can cycle between the four on-board lighting schemes while connected to a Mac. The keyboard seems well-built. If you're on a Mac I recommend Corsair or Logitech as they both have Mac OS supported software. If you're on PC, this is a strong option. The styling is what makes this keyboard stand out from the rest. BB review: purchased online, store had it ready within 30 minutes and the pick-up took less than 5 minutes. Always great working with the Kildeer Best Buy team.

Love the look and feel of the metal top. The keys type really nicely, the RGB looks great, and the customization options are pretty nice. I wish I had a bit more customization options like with the Razer software, but it's good enough. The wrist rest is a bit awkward and uncomfortable. I don't even use it since it's awkward and just kinda gets in the way. As for overall functionality, durability, look, and feel, this keyboard is fantastic.

TL;DR: Key peeling, software issues, or RGB issues have not happened for me. Will update if this changes within 12 months of purchase.
I researched a lot of "white gaming keyboards" as well as key switches, brands, those with number pads, and those without, and through all of them I kept coming back to ROCCAT's Vulcan series as well as Everest. I chose not to get Everest because of the reported issues with their software and help desk. And though I saw the reviews about ROCCAT Vulcan's keyprint issue on the keys peeling, I figured "ok, so I have to get new key caps eventually, cool." I came to this conclusion so as to prepare myself for disappointment.
Now, I am a developer, writer, and gamer so I use my keys often. I have yet to see peeling problems. All of the lights work. I did not have any "light bleeding" problems or software glitches. I primarily bought it for its RGB settings, profile software, and white color. If I could have changed the key type, I would have. Tactile is good and all, but I type fast and loud... regardless, glad I bought it! I love it and the feel of the keys despite the sound (I love loud keys but if the boyfriend is sleeping... I can't be a jerk and type loud).

I was iffy at first on whether or not a mechanical keyboard was worth the price tag in comparison to a regular old keyboard but not any longer! I use this for working at home and gaming and I found that my hands aren't as tired or tense by the end if the day. The design if the keyboard is both unique and beautiful with plenty of possibilities of programming the light display as they can be changed individually. You can even add sound to your key presses which is wild. The key presses themselves I would say are on par with any other keyboard in terms of the clicking sound.

Excellent precision tactical action so good that I prefer to NOT use an integrated laptop keyboard. All others are competing for 2nd place. This is it, maybe there is a keyboard AS nice as this ROCCAT, but not better.

I tried Corsairs, Razers and Steelseries, but for me this was the most futuristic and beautiful of all the clicky gamer keyboards. It is definitely loud like those other brands, but in a different way. The others have a deeper/lower-sounding click to them, whereas this is more clicky and higher-pitched. Very comfortable and the dry, matte finish on the keys themselves was wonderful and unique from the other options, too. The lighting configuration options were plentiful, if a little uninspiring (Corsair remains my favorite in options and configurability, followed by Razer), but the colors and brightness of the lights themselves are fantastic, especially over the light silver frame. Recommended if you don't mind a louder keyboard. If that's an issue, I'd place this above the louder Corsair and Razer switch options.

This keyboard impressed me when I first unboxed it, it was very heavy due to the aluminum faceplate, and the LEDs are very vivid. The keys are crisp and satisfying to type on, and the plastic wrist rest is not as disappointing as some YouTube reviews led me to believe. That being said, some points of concern for this price point are the lack of a removable USB-C cable and USB passthroughs. The wrist rest is hard, which may be a downside for some people, but I prefer it because it keeps the sleek low profile look while also discouraging resting your palms while typing, which is bad for your wrists regardless of whether you use a wrist rest or not. Also, the keys are not doubleshot PBT, but the warranty should cover any problems with that. The software wasn't too hard to figure out, though I came from using Razer products. Overall, I would recommend this keyboard. It does everything I need it to do and more.
