My family and I have been enjoying this Saeco PicoBaristo espresso machine since day 1, as it empowers you to become the ultimate barista. But don't tell your friends this machine does it all for you! It does! It's as simple as selecting one out of 11 espresso drinks and the the OK button (the checkmark button), and shortly after, enjoy the always great-tasting espresso drink. Speaking of taste, of course, it's highly subjective. I want to say, though, if you use Illy coffee beans, you can't go wrong. The milk frother works fully automated. No need to whip up froth manually. Just pour milk in the carafe, and the machine does everything else for you. Just select the drink you want, and voila, after about half a minute, you got your drink ready for your enjoyment. This machine truly takes the guess work out of making a good espresso specialty drink. For those of you who want to enjoy a regular cup of coffee, select "Espresso Lungo" as I find this is the closest to regular coffee. However, you may want to select a mild aroma strength, or even "very mild". This espresso maker comes with a built-in and powerful coffee beans grinder. But, you also have the option to use already-ground coffee, which can be advantageous when you want to brew of decaf mojo as it's hard to find decaf in form of coffee beans. Prior to assembling and then using it I highly recommend reading the supplied product manual. Otherwise you won't know what this espresso machine can do for you. And, also, follow the section on cleaning as you should do after every use. Pros: - Easy-to-use milk frothing system, fully automated - Great tasting espresso drinks, including Cappuccinos and Latte Macciatos and other specialty drinks, providing, of course, you use the finest coffee beans, such as Illy Arabica - Allows the use of coffee beans (with its built-in grinder) and ground coffee (selectable via the "Aroma Strength" button) - Allows the use of different-height mugs - Easy cleaning, including the milk froth carafe - Water filter that lasts "forever" (a very long time) - And, of course, great looks Cons: - None that I could mention. Don't forget to read the user manual. Verdict: - Very highly recommended

I saw this on sale at almost 20% off and had some certificates, so my plan was to buy it and if I found any flaw, immediately return it. I almost bought that LatteGo instead but when I saw that in store, I realized that this had much more visual appeal. The only advantage to the LatteGo is that it's a bit easier to get double shots via the interface, everything else about this is superior. The machine is quite attractive and has a very small footprint relative to the functionality. The buttons are solid and the interface easy to use. The main complaint online is true, it spits out a bit of water when frothing milk. I have found I can't tell the difference in taste but I also have an extra espresso glass next to the machine and "catch" it before the milk starts coming out. It's literally the only flaw and I can't taste the difference. The espresso is high quality, the drinks are all true to form. It's just so awesome to be able to make a latte so quickly. Maintenance is much easier than I thought. It's so easy to clean the slide out tray and used grounds container. The weekly rinse out of the brew unit is easy too. I guess the brew unit is dishwasher safe but it's so easy to rinse, and I don't want to lose some of the lubrication in it, so I just rinse it out. I find the milk unit super easy to clean as well. I'm so happy to be done with drip coffee or french presses in the morning. This is fast and easy. It's not cheap but the savings vs. a coffee shop are real, and there's something to be said for having a really delicious drink within 3 minutes each morning. I also love to offer my guests a latte any time of the day! When I registered on the Phillips/Saeco web site, they upgraded the warranty on the brew unit to 2 years for free. I wish it was on the whole machine but that's good enough for me. I hope it is reliable because it's a lot of money and I love it.

My wife likes any coffee maker but for me this is actually the first coffee machine that is dummy proof. Just put the milk tray in and select how strong and what type you want. It makes perfect cup of coffee every time. It’s not cheap but if you are looking into buying it, you know these machines aren’t cheap.

This PicoBaristo Espresso Machine is an excellent kitchen appliance for those who want automation in making a variety of espresso coffee drinks. In my experience, I've used a variety of coffee makers ranging from the AeroPress, standard drip coffee machine with espresso attachment, a Keurig, and now this. Now obviously the price point is significantly different but all of that extra cost goes into a finely tuned machine that makes consistent drinks every time. There are many things I'd like to point out about this machine that impressed me. For starters, everything about this machine was well thought out. All the removable parts are easy to locate, and there are no parts that are fixed that should be removed. You can have a peace of mind that you're able to clean anything coffee/milk could potentially touch. One of my biggest gripes with other coffee makers is the amount of cleanup needed. Here, the PicoBaristo is able to self clean for the most part. You'll just need to empty the drip tray and used coffee grounds once a week and you're good to go. Another feature I liked is how simple it is to operate. I can have my coffee in basically two button presses (on, and then coffee selection). The milk carafe is an excellent container since I can just store my milk away in the same container when finished. I don't have to rewash a milk frother every time I want a cappuccino. In terms of speed, for a milk drink it is basically unmatched. In under 5 minutes from a cold start to finish, I have a nice warm cup of cappuccino. Other coffee only drinks are the same, and its speed could maybe be matched by a Keurig. However, what a Keurig significantly lacks is customization. I can adjust multiple options that can range from coffee strength, size of grounds, and water temperature. You can even put in your own coffee grounds if you hate how the machine does it. I don't have many complaints about this espresso machine. Definitely take the time to read the instructions manual. Not everything is as straight forward, and there were many warnings about what not to do highlighted in the manual. As always, with any machine that relies on all its moving parts functioning correctly together, this means weekly maintenance to ensure a longer lifespan. Depending on your usage, you'll need to clean and re-lube gears with the provided lube about once a month. For a daily drinker, this espresso machine has certainly made my days that much more enjoyable. For anyone who wants an automatic espresso without going to a cafe, maybe give the PicoBarista a chance. You'd be surprised how much more you'll like your coffee.

I've been having this machine for a couple of years. I've bought this one as a gift for my sister. My experience is really great, Saeco does exactly what you expect from this type of device. If you care about this machine as the manual says it will serve you years.

The Saeco PicoBaristo is a nice a easy automated way of making your favorite drinks without having to be an expert barista. The compact design and stainless steel trims give it a very nice aesthetic look which won't make it stand out like an eye soar. I was really excited to try this out as one of my favorite drinks on a cold morning is a cappuccino. Like most people out there im not very fluent in making a good latte or cappuccino via the manual machines. I always tend to screw the mixture up and can never seem to get it quite right. This machine takes away all the guess work and worry about getting your drink and milk froth mixture correct. Before i get in to how well this machine performs lets talk about some of the features you can expect to see with this set up. Off to the side you have your water tray which seems to hold about 56 ounces give or take. One nice feature is the built in water filter into the tray to allow more water purity and cleaner tasting coffee. Directly opposite of that is the storage for your coffee beans. The water catch has a little bobber that lets you know when your catch is full so that you may empty your tray. You are given a milk tray to fill up for your drinks that you wish to froth. If you dont wish to use the milk tray and desire just plain ole coffee your also given a nice little plate to seal the opening up so that it doesn't appear to be lacking. Now like i said im not an expert by any means when it comes to brewing lattes or any brews that require a good froth. On the screen display you can choose up to five coffee beans to be ground which basically effects your coffee strength. You can also set up automated timers to start your brew and have settings for your froth and water hardness. On my first go i decided to make a cappuccino. After i set my bean desire i pressed my desire brew and off the machine went making the brew on its on. One of the first things i noticed was that the milk froth that gets dispensed came out with a little more force than i was expecting. It was kinda of messy and splashed out of my glass and got some on my machine and counter top. When it came time to grind the coffee i also noticed it was a little noisy which is to be expected whenever your grinding up beans. Once the brew was made the mixture actually came out quite nice and looked like it was made professionally. When it came time to taste it the brew tasted perfect and the temperature seemed to be set just right. I think i was more amazed at how nice the brew looked more than anything. Clean up of this machine is very easily as most of the parts come out at the snap of a button. While the price point may be high this machine will get you pretty close to getting brand name brews without the hefty price. Over time this machine should do more than pay me back for all the money spent at Starbucks.

The PicoBaristo is a complex machine but once you get it set up it is a great addition to the kitchen! It did take a bit of time to get through the many different options, set up, and customization, but I have to say I like this machine a lot. It is fully automatic, you just have to fill the bean hopper and the milk container (if you need it) and the machine does the rest (except clean up of course). It comes pre-programmed with 5 drinks with their own button and some additional drinks in the "special menu". You can also add recipe's for your own drinks and tweek the existing recipe's that are pre-programmed to fit your taste or fill your mug. This machine looks cool, impressed our friends but most importantly it makes a great cup of coffee!

Upon receiving the unit, It was straight forward and easy to set up. The written instructions are detailed but I opted to watch their YouTube videos detailing the setup process for this unit which was a breeze. The size of the unit isn’t small by any means but it’s footprint in my kitchen wasn’t huge at all and tucks away perfectly in the corner and doesn’t distract you. I thought it was going to be much bigger and I was pleasantly surprised by its size. We are more on the milky side of coffee drinks, so I couldn’t wait to make my first cappuccino and latte macchiato with it. I wasn’t disappointed at all. The drinks that I have made thus far have been great. Very smooth and the coffee doesn’t get burned or taste burned. It has the capability to make 11 drinks. You’re able to control the amount of milk, water and espresso added easily. The functions/buttons are easy to use and control your different settings. The screen is a nice touch and very easy to follow and read for someone who may not have the best vision. You can control the brightness of the screen, and other functions with just a touch of a button. Like I mentioned earlier, look at their YouTube videos if you need any help or looking for answers to common questions, as their videos are helpful and detailed. I’m a visual learner so if I see how to quickly adjust, diagnose or clean something, it’s better for me to see it done once. Especially if the manual isn’t easily located. The machine also isn’t very loud. The loudest point of the machine is when it’s warming up which only takes seconds, after that it’s quite nice not hearing a continuous loud gargling, shuffling sound that other coffee machine competitors make. One of the things I did notice is when it’s using the milk it first puts out a bit of water in the cup, as well as, when it’s starting the espresso pour for my milky drinks. I don’t think it affects the flavor any, at least for me. I’m not sure if that happens with any other espresso machine, seeing that this is my first one. Having the carafe is nice. I’m not a barista by any means so having the wand to make milk foam manually wasn’t a big deal for me because I wouldn’t be able to create those designs nor have the time to perfect it so there was no need. The carafe foams the milk perfectly in my opinion and it has the ratios just right. However, I wish there were a couple more drinks I could create with it, but all in all, it’s a great espresso machine and does everything I need an espresso machine to do, perfectly, even make a regular cup of coffee. Thanks to this machine I haven’t made a stop to Everyone’s fave coffee house for my fix. I just purchase their beans and create my own lattes with different flavors. I totally recommend getting this machine.
