This is my first HDTV, however, so it was big step up from the picture I was used to anyway. My only complaint is that some dark scenes from older non-4K sources (DVD, etc.) are noticeably dark on the TV. It doesn't happen while watching TV broadcasts from DIRECTV, the picture quality from that source is great.
