I generally do not review products as I work as a color specialist for a major company. But let me say that after reading reviews on different various brands and models, I choose the Q70 2020 model and am more than happy . First colors are great, vivid and clear. Second is that I watch tv in a room with shuttered windows and had concerns with black levels and reflections from external light sources. I can tell you that with rare exceptions I forget that and enjoy the screen. I am not an apps guy but this tv has many many apps . Third is value having tested many models and price ranges the Q70 is the way to go great picture/tv and most bang for your buck that I could find. Fourth but not the least is though I am not a app guy I am a source guy with many input devices (5) and switching them is breeze

Great picture and easy to use. Linked with everything I have and even offers tv mirroring for my iPhone. Only complaint is that the “talk to Bixby (Alexa)” feature doesn’t really work well and sometimes comes on when I’m not even trying to talk to it.

It had been years since we have purchased a tv and after a lot of researching different sizes, brands, specs, etc. we decided to go with this one and we’re sure glad we did.
It was extremely easy to set up and connect to the WiFi and once I remembered which cords went to where to hook up the sound bar, and ps4, it was pretty smooth sailing. It was nice that we were able to use our old tv mount as well.
Since we are cable free, this is the perfect tv where everything we use is easily accessible on the main screen, including the ps4. No more using a different remote to hit the source button for us and that is awesome.
The first thing we watched was some animated Pokémon movie and wow, every single color popped off the screen. Visually and with the ease of use, this tv is worth every penny so far.

After researching for a 65in TV, I narrowed down to Samsung and Sony. This TV has lived up to the reviews regarding image quality especially with full array LED backlighting. The one thing that surprised me is that an Apple TV app is available which saved me from buying another Apple TV. I can quickly access my movies purchased from Apple store. More importantly, this TV plays these movies in 4K via the Apple TV app. I have been extremely happy with this TV. My hard-to-please wife is also happy because she can manage with just 1 remote control. While the image is not quite like my LG OLED, I have been very satisfied especially with the deal I got from Bestbuy ($950). I highly recommend this 2019 Q70R model. Of note, the 2020 Q7 series does NOT have full array like this 2019 model.

The Great (*****) Excellent blacks.
The Very Good (****) Contrast and overall picture quality. Color is good but when compared with a calibrated reference monitor, this television does not look as good. Nice for video games.
The Good (***): Sound (sitting on a tabletop) is surprisingly good for a television. Doesn't have the low frequency but overall good. If wall mounted, sound would likely be different.
The OK (**) off axis brightness greatly degrades if you sit too close 5' or less from the set, the image on axis will be noticeably brighter then regions of the screen not directly on axis especially noticeable when working on multiple spreadsheets etc. Not very noticeable for television or game use. Remote is great but you have to play around with it to learn the functions.
The SOSO (*) No analogue out for speakers, when set in normal mode, local dimming algorithms produces regional increased noticeable brightness when a higher brightness element in introduced into the image. If you are watching a dark scene and open a menu, the entire image will change to match the the brightness of the menu.
The Less Then Good () power supply makes pulsing power supply noise so when using as a computer monitor with a very quiet computer without sound, you can hear the power supply.

I'm surprised actually by how good content looks on this tv. It's not an OLED tv but it does very well vs OLED and perhaps does even better.
I recently bought an LG OLED CX 48 to use as a monitor for my desktop and I have to say that movies and shows look better on the Samsung q70r 65 inch. I guess this samsung TV does upscaling of quality much better than LG's OLEDs. The LG does excel in gaming though.
The speakers that are within the TV are alright, I am using a soundbar with the tv.
I believe the price you for this tv is well spent. Great visual colors, black levels are great, colors are very accurate. You may have to adjust some settings though to get it to how you want it but overall it's great out of the box.

The Q70R TV is very nice. The picture and controls are great and the setup is a snap. Unlike the lower models the guide function works well and has no lag. The smart controller is decent, but I wish the dedicated app buttons were programmable.
The tv auto recognizes consoles and computers plugged into the tv and sets the best settings for use.
The only issue is that the speakers are not great, but if you are buying a tv this expensive, pick up some quality speakers with digital optical input or tv entertainment speakers to really blow things out of the water.
The only other issue I have is that audio fed via the hdmi port from a computer does seem to have some delay, about 1 second; but if you don't feed audio that way, its fine.

I love this tv. Great picture, easy to use, plenty of apps. If I had to pick one thing that bugs me it would be how easy the remote responds to voice. I won’t even be talking and it will activate the AI and start listening

Great picture quality and good overall features. Went to the store prior to purchasing to compare picture quality and features between the different Samsung models. Decided this was the best overall match for our family at a price that was pretty reasonable.
Didn't notice at first that the HDMI port with ARC was port #4 and not port #1 like I would have expected. Once we discovered that we were able to get everything working with our multimedia receiver, speakers, Harmony remote, Alexa controls, etc. Had to add a few steps to the power up sequence from the Harmony remote and now working as expected.
Also appreciated the refund a week later when the TV went on sale with a further discount. Best Buy was easy to work with getting the refund.

This TV is wonderful and I'm extremely pleased after a couple weeks of use. The picture is incredible and the sound is surprisingly good given my experience in the past with less than stellar audio from tv's that require me to use a sound bar just to get decent sound. The sound fills a pretty large living room easily with really decent sound. The TV was extremely easy to mount which was another positive. The one issue I had is more of a Samsung issue than the actual TV, is that Samsung makes you log in a create a Samsung account before you can add any apps. It's a small thing but still annoying. Overall we love the TV is awesome, and a major upgrade from our Samsung UHD that we bought about 3 or 4 years ago.

This is truly a very smart TV. It automatically finds connected audio video devices on the same network, and just integrates them. Very intuitive. Upscales lower video very, very nicely. I really love the home screen and how easy it is to select every one of my sources so easily. Apple music, Amazon HD music, Netflix, Amazon Prime video, and basically anything you want to additionally add, just set up in your home screen. Flexible ways to integrate to older and newer A/V receivers for your sound, too. Still finding source material that I didn't even think could be integrated. Beautiful picture every time. This is the 2019 model of the Q70. So glad my studies and selection were spot-on.

I chose the Q70 over the more expensive Q80 as it offered all the features and benefits as the Q80 with a slightly lower processor. I saw both of these TV's side by side in Best Buy and I couldn't tell the difference.
Very pleased with this TV and it's easy to set up. I am using mine on a TV tabletop and that requires using the provided Feet. Strangely the legs don't lock into place on the actual TV and if I were to lift the TV up they would fall out. Poor design.

(If anyone needs a good calibration setting, just mention my name on comments and I'll try to help). It's an amazing TV. Freesync alone is what makes it amazing. Input lag for games is very low. HDR games on Xbox one X looks spectacular. It's also FALD panel so no edge light bleeding issues. Q80R is over 600 bucks more and yet you barely get any advantages over this one. RRatings.com is where I go for research. For $1500, you can't beat this deal, considering it's 65 inch, HDR10, Freesync, FALD, and a pretty fast processor. Ambient is really pretty but you won't really use it that much. If you don't wanna spend over 2000 for a good tv and stuck between Q80 and q70, definitely go with q70. It's the best bang for buck kinda deal. Oh btw, viewing angles aren't as bad as edge lit TV's, plus who watches TV from an angle anyways? Lol

We had a top of the line Samsung 8500 55" from 2015 that was great for its' time. This model, although isn't their top of the line model, blows away that 8500 in nearly every feature (the only thing it doesn't do is 3D). The picture quality is so much sharper with much better contrast due to the QLED being back lit, not side lit. The UI is much friendlier, and has intuitive features that are surprisingly very good. It's only flaw would be the remote which is typically the bane of any Samsung TV. They over simplify the remotes always leaving you wishing there were more buttons, but it works well for what it is. Overall I highly recommend this model.

Upgraded from Sony due to input lag

I replaced my Sony x900e with the Q70. Main reason was input lag. Input lag is noticeably better on the Q70. The picture on the Sony, and Samsung are basically the same. Both have great detail and color reproduction. I feel like the Samsung produces better blacks. I wouldn’t have replaced my Sony if it wasn’t for input lag. After getting accustomed to the picture settings on the Q70r, I got the settings just as I wanted. I don’t even set the tv to game mode sometimes because the input lag is so fast.

Upgrading from a Samsung 55 inch LED to a new 65 inch QLED is a huge difference! The picture quality is crisp and the colors are very vibrant when it comes to watching shows, movies, and gaming! This TV is real 4K! The TV has Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Apple TV+, and my newest favorite streaming platform, Disney+ all built right in! There is no longer a need for all the extra cables and wires from a Fire TV Stick, Google Chromecast, or Roku because you can cast straight to the TV as well. I love it!!!

I got this when my previous 60" tv died. Being 65" it actually takes the same amount of space as my old tv because of the thin bezels on this one. The picture quality is just amazing compared to standard HD and even compared to other lower cost TVs. Having 4 HDMI inputs is also a great feature. The best thing is the smart features of it - 4k netflix and amazon streaming, integration with my satellite reciever, and so many downloadable apps, and this tv has plenty of available storage compared to others. Not to mention the menus and apps for this tv are FAST compared to other tvs. This tv is definitely worth the price!

This is the second mid-range 4K TV that I've purchased. In fact, this TV was a Geek Squad replacement for a Sony Bravia X900E that had an HDMI port that went bad after 1.5 years. I can't blame Sony for a lemon part. However, I chose the Q70 over the Sony X950G, which was not an easy choice. Based on RTINGS.com, both the Q70 and X950G have similar overall rating. But both had pros and cons. The Sony is significantly brighter (great for bright room), has great color gradient, and support for Dolby Vision and Atmos, but it has lower volume of color, lower contrast, and lower blacks (more grayish due to light bleeding). The Q70 has better contrast, deeper blacks, greater color volume, and variable refresh rate, the latter of which is great for gaming, but the TV does not support Dolby vision or Atmos, and has lower color gradient, and does not get very bright (not good for very bright rooms). However, in the store, seeing both TVs in person is what sold me on the Q70. The black levels on the Sony look grey, not black, and the colors didn't seem to pop as much (probably due to lower color volume and contrast). Yes, I know the Sony 65 and greater have a higher price tag, but that is just based on marking decisions made by each company. So don't be fulled, most reviews you read will classify both TVs as comparable models. Besides, if you look at the 55'', the Sony X950G costs less than the Q70.
After living with the Q70, I will say that I'm quite happy with the Q70. But there are some differences that I noticed compared to the 2017 Sony x900e. First, the blacks are in fact deeps on the samsung (noticeably so). But the 1080p to 4K upscaling was better on the Sony. The Samsung turns itself on when connected devices are not completely powered down, and this is despite whether settings like Anytime+ are turned off (annoying). Colors seems to blend together (due to lower gradient). Despite these things, I prefer the Q70. Dark scenes on horror movies and games look better on the Q70, while they looked too dark on the Sony.
All in all, the Samsung seems like a better choice.

I went from a 50” plasma to the 65” Q70 series Samsung and what a nice upgrade. Recommend highly. Well worth the money spent. The picture is amazing. Was going to go with the Q60 series, but the better backlighting features on the Q70 are definitely the way to go.
