I replaced my HDD with this SDD and the booting and shutdown is in seconds rather than tens of seconds. My PC feel like brand new fast machine, and no spinning noise at all. I like the 1TB size since anything smaller was not enough and the price was just right. I ended up replacing my Mac and laptop HDDs with the same SSD model too.

The good: The computer is so much FASTER. Easy install. The bad: The instructions that come with it tell you to download Samsung magician. That's fine for after the install to optimize the drive, keep it updated. If you want to clone your existing drive before the install, you need Samsung Data Migration. Don't know how you are supposed to know that, I called Samsung and they told me. After several calls to Samsung, their Data Migration software just kept failing and they could not help me to make it work. I was regretting not going with the Crucial brand. However, I used EaseUS ToDo Backup prior to purchasing this to back up everything. That software also has a cloning option. So where Samsung failed to clone my drive, EaseUS worked like a charm. After the cloning, just swapped the drive and it booted up no issues. BEST option to speed up a 5 year old laptop. It's super fast now and I have all my software, settings, everything like before only WAY FASTER!!! Can't speak to how long it will last since I just installed this last night.

Love this SSD! Will never go back to HDDs after gaming with this installed instead. If you're looking to expand PC storage, you can't go wrong with these SSDs - my old Samsung SSD has been very reliable and I expect this one to be, too. Games and all programs run quickly and smoothly! I built my PC in 2018 and was only able to use a small SSD to boot windows with originally and store everything else on an HDD. I snagged 2 of these 860 EVOs during a sale and am thrilled with them. My load times in all games has been reduced so much - I used to have time to drink water, check my phone, feed the cat, etc. Now I barely have time to think about doing those things before the load screen is done :) Installation was easy, too. This SSD is a foolproof way to make your system (PC with HDDs, older game consoles too!) feel zippy and new. Plus nobody likes playing the "Which games do I uninstall to install something new" game. Thumbs up from me!

Will never go back to a standard hard drive! I used to get 20frps, now I get 60-90! Computer starts right up and shuts right down updates fast! It’s amazing to play a video game and see the game, just something as replacing and going ssd! The program is easy to use very user friendly, and the price is great

I had purchased this mainly so I could have extra storage for some games and other random files like music and pictures. My previous storage was nearing its cap and figured I had to bite the bullet and just do it. This item was pretty easy to install. I read you needed a bracket AFTER I purchased it and was at home, so I figured "heck, who needs that". I installed it in my tower in a way that it functions as its OWN bracket. It's not the most secure, but hey, it works! Once installed, the setup was incredibly confusing to me, but I powered through after a bit and got it figured out. I may have just done something incorrectly, but some of the instructions were just confusing. Pros: - Lots of storage - Tiny enough to be placed IN your tower; more visually appealing - Can be used in laptops or desktops (whoo!) Cons: - Set-up is a bit confusing, but manageable

Excellent, fast SSD for a great price. Plenty of storage for games, media, or whatever else you would like, reaches advertised speeds easily, incredibly reliable and the included Samsung Magician software and Samsung Migration software are fantastic.

Got this as a secondary drive for the game PC. it is speedy without being too pricey. With 1TB of space it has adds a good amount of room for games. Easy to install, but does not come with any bracket for larger drive bays. Fit perfectly in the case location for SSD drives.

I purchased this SSD to upgrade my generation 1 - PS4. Load times on many of the games have become excessive. Part of the game-system quirks is that it buffers through the HDD. The basic system came with a 500GB 5400RPM platter drive. Installation of this SSD was straight forward and well documented on third party sites and supported by Sony. Load times and system performance were noticeably improved. Games seem clearer and 'snappier'. The larger 1TB size allows for additional games and media to be stored on the system. I'm sure other brands would do well, my brother in the IT field recommended the 860 EVO as a class-leading consumer level device. Packaging and fit-and-finish of the product met expectations of a well designed electronic product that has exceptional quality control. I recommend this as a reliable and cost-effective improvement to gaming systems and computers.

I bought this drive to replace a fully functional HDD. I was looking for speed my Dell desktop computer should have had, but didn’t. I could have gotten by space wise with a 500gb but chose the 1tb because I was replacing a 1tb and felt that the cloning would be easier since the capacities matched. The Samsung software designed to clone the drive is brilliant and seamless. You don’t need any additional software or hardware to do the swap. Once in and done, there was a little trouble on my end getting the computer to choose the SSD instead of the original but then I took a leap of faith and removed the old drive, forcing the computer to use the SSD. And now... I have an amazingly fast computer. It boots in seconds and not minutes, it shuts down in seconds and not minutes, and just plain is faster in every function. This computer is used predominantly for photo editing and the new drive has greatly improved my workflow. I can’t recommend this upgrade highly enough. I’d give it more stars if I could.

Plug and play, no hassle, reliability, nominal speeds, and great value at the time of purchasing made this and future Samsung products my choice for further storage expansion. Will definitely continue to support this company for the points above.

Purchased in store because price was competitive with other sources. I have a lot of Samsung SSDs and have never had a failure. They work well and are reliable. Fast, too! Check out their Disk Magician software for more performance.

I wanted my system to last a little longer and I wanted some reliability, so this drive was a good choice for me. I am hard on my electronics and keeping good care of them makes a difference. The speed, the space, this was a great choice.

I got this 1tb drive to upgrade from a 250GB drive that came with my I buy power computer I bought from Best Buy. It’s faster than the old ssd I was upgrading from. It’s easy to clone the old drive to this new one. You will need to buy a Sata to USB cable that Best Buy stocks. Download the Samsung data migration software and the Samsung Magician software. The Samsung data migration software was so easy to clone the old drive to this new one. And the other Samsung Magician software allows you to check read and write speeds and iops on any drives in your computer. It was need to see how much faster this is. You can also manage encryption, and many more things with this software. Basically I’m super happy with this Samsung ssd. It’s a little higher price than other company’s drives but I feel it’s completely worth it

Installed on my 4 year old laptop and it woke it up, super quick boot ups and everything feels snappy. Was so impressed by the improvement I bought a second one and installed it in my desktop. The Samsung migration program made cloning simple and was up and running in no time.

This 860 Evo SSD was rated as one of the fastest and most reliable ssd's available, and it lives up to it. Seems very well built, easy install into an Asus laptop. Loaded without any problem, runs fast, and worth the price. Would recommend it.

First of all, you WILL need to buy extras if you intend to use this in a PC. The box only includes the drive and unhelpful instructions. You'll at minimum need a SATA cable and four M3×5mm screws. OG PS4 users should look elsewhere as the SATA 2 connection bottlenecks speed. PS4 Pro will see an improvement, though. Otherwise this is a good drive for the money ($100 at the time of writing). Snappy, tiny, and has a premium feel to it. But like, come on, Samsung, screws are $1 for 4 at retail prices

I needed more storage space, I had a Samsung 850 Pro 256GG. I love the Samsung Data Migration software, transferring the drives was a breeze. Plenty of space, and seems just as fast as the Pro version for games and apps.

I used this to replace the hard drive in my PS4 Pro for added performance. 1 tb size was the same as the regular HD which I had. This SSD is so much faster though and was a breeze to install. I also run an external HD for added storage.

Got this to be my main boot drive in both a MAC and a PC - the boot is so much faster and it is nice and low profile so it doesn't take up a ton of space in the case which is nice...but the speed - so much better than a regular HDD.

I bought this to replace a 1tb hdd/28gb ssd RAID 0 that I was using as a boot drive but that had started to return some errors when running diagnostics. Installation required an adaptor to fit into a drive bay in my Dell desktop, so factor in that modest expense if you need to use a 3.5 inch drive bay. Installation did not go as smoothly as I would have liked. After I undid my RAID so that all data would be on the 1tb hdd, I wanted to clone the hdd to the new Samsung ssd. The Samsung migration software (which just copies the OS and data, but not your installed applications) first would not run at all but eventually did. Unfortunately, it froze at 99% and would not complete. Googling established that this is a common problem. I ended up buying a $20 migration program online that did the trick. There might be free alternatives out there that could do the job, too. Once installed, the drive shines. Bootup times are reduced substantially over hdd bootups and even quite a bit from the RAID, but without the complications of the RAID or the need for touchy RAID drivers like the Intel RST that I used. Applications also load quickly. Haven't had this but a few days, but, thus far, I am happy with the increased performance and remarkable storage capacity for an ssd.
