I ordered this SSD to replace a hard drive in my desktop. The Samsung 860 EVO 1TB Internal SATA Solid State Drive is easy to install as long as you have the required cables for data migration. Samsung's migration software works perfectly and is a breeze to use. Once the data migration process is complete, all you have to do is install it with an appropriate bracket, plug it in and turn on your computer. My computer booted up literally in a fraction of the time it took with my regular hard drive. Once your computer is booted, expect all applications to run much faster. This SSD made a huge difference for me. I am now updating my laptops with the same SSD... that's how big of a difference it makes.

This replaced a 250GB WD Green SSD that was in the computer I bought. I wanted a larger, reliable SSD so I could install everything on one drive and not split between an SSD and a spinning disk. I've not had any issues in the short time I've owned it and my computer boots up quickly. I can't comment specifically on whether it is faster than the 250GB WD that was in the computer because I only used the 250GB as the boot drive, loaded everything else on a 2TB spinning disk, and didn't compare specs between the two. I can say the 860 EVO is faster when running programs off of it than running them off my spinning disk. Although, that is by nature an advantage of an SSD over a spinning disk. If you're on the fence about purchasing this drive, read the reviews. In my opinion, you won't be sorry you purchased it.

Used this to upgrade my hard drive in PS4 Pro. Noticeable difference going from HD to SSD, this is not the first samsung SSD I have bought, The others are still running strong as well. Highly recommend this drive, at this price point ($165) Cant beat it.

Samsung makes some great products and this is by far one of their better ones. I like it for easy use and installation and fast speeds. Also has the space that your older desktop drives have in a compact SSD.

One year later this drive is still running strong. Its in an outdoor computer for my observatory which is an unheated space. Its fast and reliable and super easy to install.

The Samsung 860 EVO 1TB Internal Sata Solid State Drive has excellent technology in this device. User friendly, faster and much cooler when in use. Boots up so quick; saves time at both boot-up and shutdown.

Samsung and Western Digital seem to have this market cornered with only a few other players around. I did the legwork and the Western Digital costs only $5 more but if you were copying a full TB hard drive it would do it approximately 20 seconds faster than the Samsung. Hmmmm, how often do I copy terrabytes at a time and in doing so how much difference would 20 seconds make? Given the Samsung was right there in the store and I would have to wait for the Western Digital I decided to save the $5. This drive was easy to install. Just clone the original and swap em. Even though it was fast enough for me to begin with, this drive has really turbo charged my new 2 in 1.

I had learned a lesson about buying SSDs. Samsung is the only brand that I have purchased and still have in operation after 5 years. Every other one died within 3 years and few with 2 years. Samsung drives are also fast. The only negative experience I had with a Samsung drive was a device I purchased in the store from Best Buy. After I opened the box the device smell like smoke and was a but melted to the point that the connector was completely unusable. The crazy thing was the outside packaging should not sign of heat damage. Best Buy quickly exchanged it with no hassle. While Samsung driver do tend to be a bit more expensive they are also promoted often so the price is very comparable to other brands I would consider buying.

No issues with drive. Fast and easy install of Windows 10 from USB. Download and install of Samsung SSD software smooth. Reports correct size and speed right in line with advertised clams. Windows boots in about 6 secs.

This SSD is a great value for the price. One terabyte has enough storage for my gaming computer and my computer boots up fast. I would recommend replacing a writable disc hard drive with this solid state drive.

Did an upgrade to my Dell OEM Seagate 500GB Hybrid HDD that worked. The OS got corrupted and had to wipe the drive, so I went with this 1T SSD. The Dell drive holder comes out with 2 screws and this SSD is slightly less thick. Had to use blue tape to secure it in the drive holder. No biggie. Loads OS not much faster than my hybrid as it store the OS in the digital memory section, but it does make file saving and copying much faster. In a regular HDD you will see the big improvements . The $99 price for a top rated 1T SSD was a bargin. What I really like is the drive runs about 20 Celsius cooler, no vibrations, and uses less battery. Been two months and not any issues.

Replaced my old hardrive with this SSD. Made a huge difference in speed and performance. Soundless, quick and easy to install. Used it for 6 months now and perfect performance. Highly recommended!

Bought this Samsung 860 Evo 1TB SSD to replace OEM 500GB hard drive in my wife's HP 2in1 that was only 18 months old. Her computer was running out of storage space and starting to lag and run very slowful to the point that it was painful to use. This SSD made the difference, and the results are like night and day. Computer now operates faster than ever, boot times are minimal, and the PC truly is better than new. This upgrade was worth every penny. Also, Samsung offers free hard drive migration software to assist in cloning old drive to new drive so as not to lose any data or settings on PC. Highly recommended!

Do yourself a favor and get this drive. It's fast, reliable, and a great price. 1TB is plenty of space, but if you need more, put your operating system on this drive and get a mechanical hard drive for storage.

Converting an older "spinning rust" hard drive to the Samsung Solid State Drive was EASY using Samsung cloning software -downloadable free from Samsung's web site! You do need a SATA to USB connecting cord. It takes time -maybe 6-8 hours- but everything was copied over- even desktop layout & icons. After the cloning, shut down the PC, switch SATA & power connectors to SSD and boot up. The Samsung SSD is much faster & quieter!!! I even purchased another Samsung SSD for an older desktop and brought new life back to it!!

My other SSD was running out of space, so I decided to add a new one. This option had the best value and size from a reputable brand in the space. It's a shame I couldn't get the 2TB model instead.

I have bought this model of hard drive three times now over two seperate builds. It's incredibly small, quite quick, and definitely worth the price. 10/10 would buy again.

I purchased this to use for my PS4 and I'm really pleased with it. Super easy to install and it made my ps4 performance become much quicker when downloading new software updates. Cut down game loading times and provided more fluidity with home screen navigation and applications were more responsive. Would highly recommend if you want to get more storage and do a small upgrade to your gaming system. Bought this when it was on sale for $120 out the door and worked perfectly so I can squeeze a little more life out of my gaming system before I upgrade to the PS5. (If it ever becomes more readily available)

Excellent, fast and reliable...and a great price, bought on sale. Updated my 2 years old Dell XPS. Use it to store my kid car simulator games and my MS Flight Simulator 2020.

This past month I started with one Samsung 1TB 860 EVO SSD as a best bang for the buck upgrade experiment for my main rig. Being that it is a nearly $9,000 system I was not expecting much, but then again for the sale price of $159.99 what did I have to lose. The system is a server class work station that I mainly use for video editing, browsing and general use, NOT a big gamer, although it will destroy performance highs in most games. With a mid-level 6-core 12 thread Intel Core i7 processor, 64 GB of quad channel RAM, dual RX-480 8GB GPUs in Crossfire, a Corsair 1500 Watt power supply and no less than 60 Terabytes of internal storage space it was no surprise when I didn’t notice a huge performance increase, sure there was a bit of a gain, 8% to 10% at best, but this gave me inspiration to try out this upgrade on some of my other machines. I was already running a 500GB Samsung SSD in my main laptop, with is going on 10 years old, Intel i7, 32GB RAM, nVidia 660GTX 2GB GPU and a 17.3” screen makes this a tough laptop to give up and even though the swap was from a 500GB Samsung SSD to a 1TB Samsung SSD the performance was similar to my workstation but allowed me to get creative and swap my 2nd 1TB SSHD to a larger 4TB HDD (granted that took some power tools and skills) I now have a 10 year old laptop that still beats 90% of brand new laptops so I am happy with the 860 EVO. NOW for the big surprise, I have a 3 year old Toshiba laptop with a Intel i7, 12GB RAM, 17.3” touchscreen and onboard graphics, For the better part of the last 3 years this backup laptop has been a paper weight 90% of the time, with the other 10% for skype calls when I am on the go and need both laptops, otherwise I was very disappointed in that $2,400 investment and I had always thought that the main hang up was the lack of a dedicated graphics card as video editing and even Windows 10 is very graphic intensive, I had thought many times of selling it and was constantly offered a fair price for it but secretly I wanted to troubleshoot some more and find out if it really was that much of a difference, on chip Intel graphics verses AMD or nVidia dedicated graphics, well I can honestly say that the results are in and the culprit of the 2 minute boot times, slow reactions to clicks, and poor browser performance was in fact due to Toshiba cheaping out on the 1TB hard drive they installed in this near flagship system. With the Samsung 1TB 860 EVO the Toshiba has become quick, useful and dare I say enjoyable, I genuinely would have banged my head against a door had I sold it for the $800 to $1,000 I was constantly offered for it. With that I also decided to even out Toshibas odd one 8GB & one 4GB RAM modules and purchased a 2nd 8GB module bringing the laptop to 16GB (still half of what is in my main laptop) but none the less it made a additional improvement. With this happy increase I decided to get my parents a 1TB Samsung 860 EVO for Christmas and upgrade their aging Dell which took around 4 minutes to boot, and browsing the web was worse than waiting for water to boil, it took forever and they were considering getting a new computer, but the struggle of learning a new OS (they are still on Windows 7) and other features was not something they were looking forward to, so I got them one of these drives and cloned their boot drive, making it a simple swap and their performance is up 400%, yes it was that dramatic of a difference, & thus I also upgraded their RAM from 4GB to 8GB and now with the exception of their aging GPU in that system, they are extremely happy with the new life that it has gained. And finally I purchased a 5th 1TB 860 EVO to upgrade one of my other PCs from a tiny 128GB SSD and to my surprise it was also a dramatic improvement of at least 200% so with all this real comparison data, I can whole heartedly tell you as a IT & hardware expert of 28+ years that if you want to breathe some more life into pretty much any computer or device you own or are planning to own then the SINGLE MORE IPRESSIVE ITEM YOU CAN GET TO DRAMATICALLY IMPROVE PERFORMANCE IS A SAMSUNG SSD. Keep an eye on Intel & Samsung to bring new 3D & V-NAND drives to mass market this year, but as for best single item for under $200 to improve performance across the board, get a Samsung SSD.
